Help with new Picnic Table

I just got a new picnic table from the local Vo-Teck school, and it's still raw wood.

Should I put some shelack or linseed oil on it? It's starting to bow a little.

I say stain it; save time by using a stain with a sealer. If it's bowing, the wood may have been green when it was assembled. :sad2:
