Hope your having a magical day!
We are just home from our trip and feeling miserable. What better way to get over it than to post a trip report (all the while planning our 2008 trip!).
The cast.
Sher (my GF, live in, deeply in love.)
Sher is 27, going to University of Waterloo to become a teacher. Has only been to disney once, and that was last year in a trip that was a bit stressful due to our traveling companions. We decided to try it again with just the two of us.

Rob (me.)
I have been going to disney since 1979. Have been a total of 10 times. Love the place and have no desire to slow down my yearly visits.

Marley (our pug)
She got to go live with close friends and had all kinds of adventures of her own. She kept a journal and would send us snippets via email to keep us in the loop!

Day 1
Buffalo, NY
We awoke at 4:00 am to a cool grey day in Buffalo. Our hotel (Radisson Williamsville) was about 10 minutes from the Buffalo Airport and due to the early hour of our departure we decided to stay overnight. We scarfed down some continental breakfast and jumped a shuttle to the airport.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2243.jpg
We had 7:20 AM departure time with Southwest so we figured we should get there for 5:20. Good thing we did as the security was packed at this early hour. What is it about the checkpoints that make me so nervous? I got up to bat and forgot to take my belt off, couldn't get my laptop out of my bag, and forgot to take my hoodie off. The TSA guys were actually quite accomodating and helped me out. Once we got through we settled in for and hour and a half wait.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2246.jpg
Our boarding was uneventful and we ended up sitting near some folks who were heading on a cruise. They pounded back the beers the whole way down! 7:30 AM is beer oclock I guess.
We landed around 10 and got our first glimpse of palm trees! Finding the Magical Express was easy and before we knew it we were aboard and heading to our resort!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2252.jpg
And our resort is????

Hi. Enjoyed your first installment. I'm from Buffalo too, not that you are from Buffalo, but you used the airport :) I enjoy Canada, especially when crossing the border to see the Tragically Hip :)

Was it me, but we had the hardest time finding ME. When we got to the ground level, my dh walked out the door thinking the busses were outside. Me I walking the wrong way, turned around and found them the other way.
What dates were you there in April?

Ok so we have arrived and are both marveling at the resort. Since this is a first time stay onsite we are both super excited. I go and line up to check-in and Sher heads to check out the bathroom. Why do they only have three people working the registration desk when there are 30 people in line??? Needless to say, the wait was quite long but worthwhile as we got our room (king size bed and everything!) assigned. The room was not ready so we had to check our carry-on bags with luggage assistance and head to MK! Quick stop at Everything Pop and Sher got herself some Crocs....disneyfied!!!

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2312.jpg
The bus was empty and the ride to Magic Kingdom was heavenly. It took approximately 12 minutes and they dropped us off right at the gate! NO TTC???? NO MONORAIL??? Yeehaw
We immediately headed to Casey's for lunch! Hot Dogs and Cokes. Sher got a tonne of Saurkraut on hers
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2269.jpg
I am going to include some dining reviews in here. Hope you guys don't mind too much. The hot dogs were delicious after a long trip and nothing to eat but continental breakfast. What do they put in these things? Man they were awesome.
After the dogs we went and saw Philharmagic. Sher had never seen it before and absolutely loved it.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2275.jpg
We did a bit of walking around and then grabbed a dole whip. We had them last year and Sher had been talking about them for the past 11 months. Obviously they were yummy, I mean it's pineapple mixed with ice cream substance, whats not to love? (we had a 7pm ADR at Ohanas but could not resist the pineapple goodness.) Did I mention the pineapple? Wow.

Hi OHMARI, we did not have trouble, I think we got lucky as we were following another group who had used it before.....!!!!
We were there April 18th to the 27th!
Jenrose66 - No are not Buffaloians but we do enjoy the Sabres! To fly out of Toronto is approx 700 - 1000 cdn with all the taxes and fees. Buffalo and Southwest did a return for two for $271 USD. How can you beat that? You know what? I have never seen the Hip....own all their albums though!

Ok, I promise I will not hijack your thread with non trip related things...this is my last off topic post:goodvibes GO AND SEE THE HIP!!! Please, if you have a bad time you can email me and I will reimburse you for your ticket price. My dad started taking me at 16 and in the last 9 years I've seen them 15 to 20 times. My favorite places to catch a show are Copps Colliseum in Hamilton and the Molson Ampitheatre at Ontario Place.
But, I am enjoying reading your report. Me and Jake(dh) are counting down the days until we take Jack on his first trip at 14 months old. I'm hoping to hook him young so it's two against one when dh questions why we are going to Disney every year.

After our delicious pineapple goodness we decided to go check out some shopping at the Contemporary. I had never been to this resort so was eager to check it out! Plus we got to ride the Monorail! As we passed by Main Street USA we noticed that the real world had invaded the Magic Kingdom.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2263-1.jpg
Flags were at half-mast out of respect for the Virginia Tech victims......
We both had a silent moment of contemplation and realized how incredibly blessed we both were.
Once we arrived at the contemporary, we decided to do some shopping! I got myself a groovy hat and saw a really beautiful watch that I just had to get for Sher. I asked the guy behind the counter to run some interference for me while I purchased the watch. He kept an eye on Sher for me (who was blissfully unaware of my black ops) while I rang up the watch! Sher is a dedicated and professional shopaholic so my subterfuge was unnecessary.
I got the watch wrapped up and hid it in our backpack for later!

So...recap....we just left Contemporary for our 7pm ADR at Ohana's. I always go to Ohana's for the first sit down meal of the trip. I love the atmosphere of the Polynesian and to me it feels very 70's, but in a very nostalgic and comforting way!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2331.jpg
Since we arrived a good 20 minutes early we checked out the gift shop and the waterfall. The resort has such a unique smell and feel that I can just sit in the lobby and people watch for hours!
We checked in about 10 minutes to 7 and asked for a window seat....the CM said we may have to wait, told her no problem....we got time. They gave us one of the pagers and we grabbed a seat in the Tambu lounge. Unfortunately the live entertainment hadn't started so we chatted and tried to decide if we should order a drink. 2 minutes later our pager went off and we were taken to our seat....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2358-1.jpg
Our server was Cousin Drew, and he was on! What a great guy, he got us right into the drinks. We ordered a Lapu Lapu and a Malibu Monkey(i think) The lapu lapu came in the pineapple and a side glass! The bartender "accidentally" made too much! I swear our server was trying to get us drunk!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2350.jpg
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2340.jpg
Usually I find the Lapu Lapu a bit strong but tonight it was perfect! Sweet but with a nice kick. The Malibu was spot on as well. Sher excused herself to go to the bathroom so I put the watch I had bought for her on her placemat.
She got back and was quite impressed with her minnie and mickey watch! She made some promises and other arrangements that I have to leave out of this trip report...sorry!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2339.jpg
The meal came and it was absolutely perfect. Everything was hot where it was supposed to be and cool when called for.
Salad - Honey Lime Dressing....ummm yumm? Yikes this stuff was good. When I walked by to hit the bathroom I saw them preparing the salads....the were dumping ladels full of the dressing on each bowl! No wonder it was sooooooo good.....
I love shrimp. Sher only eats them cold and with cocktail sauce so she abstained. *Sidenote here* Every year I accidentally stuff myself with shrimp and then spend the next 4 hours doubled over in agonizing pain. This year I promised to take it easy.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2343-1.jpg
The scalloped Maui Potatoes. Holy crap. Best Potatoes EVER!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2345-1.jpg
We were getting thirsty again.
Ordered a beer for myself and Sher had another LAPU!
Then we ate some more. Chicken Wings!!!!! YUMMMMMMMMM
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2344.jpg
We were both stuffed and the meat skewers hadn't made a showing yet! What do we do? We begged Cousin Drew to give us a minute to digest which he gladly did! He was working until 10pm so he told us to take our time. We chatted with him about the place and he told us a great story about a group of CM's that he joined for a night of drinks at Ohana's followed by a late night excursion at the Magic Kingdom. He said it was fun for the first hour but due to the dry nature of the MK soon the buzzes wore off and the headaches sunk in....
Sher was too full for skewers so I dug down and found some hidden reserve and got some steak. It was really good. Just cooked perfectly for me. Had a really nice wood grill taste to it.
Cousin Drew was getting close to the end of his shift so we got the desert and bill. Since we did not do the dining plan we paid and I think it was $110.00.
Thanks for the meal, little wood guy! Notice the groovy hat I bought! Love that hat.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2363_edited-1.jpg
Hey Sher, How did you like the meal???
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2366.jpg

Thanks for writing this TR. It's nice to see a Disney perspective from Adult Travelers. Dh and I are going along in October and I love to read about what other couples do.

Ok so dinner ended around 10 and we boarded the monorail to hit the Magic Kingdom. First up was "its a small world" a ride Sher had never been on.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2369.jpg
She really liked it and had fun with the different languages, being that she is studying French and German at University and being that we were a bit tipsy, this ride was way more fun than it should have been. After, we hit Big Thunder and Splash Mountains. Both were 10 minute waits. We got soaked on Splash, of course, and had wet pants the rest of the night.
We finished up the night at around 11:15PM or so and decided to go check out our room. The bus line for Pop is the farthest queue away from the entrance at MK so of course we grumbled about our feet and then marveled at the number of people in line! Some poor folks stood in line for the entire 45 minutes holding a 45 lb child in their arms! Talk about some serious stamina. I can barely hold a beer that long without a rest.
It was about a 45 minute wait before we got on the bus which means we got back to our resort at around 12:15am. Since we hadn't been given our room number yet, we checked in with registration and were told we had a room in the 50's, building 1, room 1267.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2289.jpg
On our walk over we came across the largest Lady statue I had ever seen! And I have seen a lot of lady statues. We started a tradition of saying "Gnight Lady" or "G'Mornin Lady" as we passed....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2491.jpg
The night before we stayed in Buffalo and the room had two double beds...we ended up sleeping seperatly as the bed was way too small! Since we had requested a king size bed we were thrilled to find this in our room!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2280-1.jpg
We also had a nice little package on our table.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2279-1.jpg
Not sure what it meant, but we had free turndown service and chocolates on our pillows!
We had a night cap and unpacked and quickly turned in for the night!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2284.jpg
End of day one! What a fantastic start to our trip, we were both so thrilled and pretty tired. Getting up at 4am is not something we are used to.
Day two was a sleep in day! But we got into a lot of fun adventures!

Thanks for posting comments everyone! Ok on to Day 2!!!!
So we (I mean I!!!!) woke up around 9am. Sher woke then grunted at me and went back to sleep. I wanted to run at least once this week so I figured I would do it today as it was a light walking day and I didn't want to burn out. Out the door I went and I proceeded around the resort at a very light pace. Up through the main resort area, into the 60's, then the 70's and through the 90's, I then found the back walkway that ran along the lake and wound my way around it. Crossed the bridge and back and headed down memory lane. Some of the trivia and signs were quite neat! If you get a chance I recommend a walk along it!
Odd to see the mothballed buildings on the other side of the lake. Eerie. Hope they complete them someday!
On way back to room I stopped at Everything POP and grabbed a souvenir mug of coffee ....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2490.jpg
and a couple of adult platters for breakfast!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2489.jpg
Coffee was Disney good (read barely drinkable with 18 sugars and 32 creamers). Breakfast was a nice surprise....when I watched them prepare it I had not so good expectations, Lunch Lady!
On the way to the room I noticed intrusion signs of DISSERS! My field guide states that they like to present LIME GREEN warning signs and they also decorate their dwellings with twigs, bark and towels shaped like animals.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2391.jpg
I surprised Sher with breakfast in bed and we watched some Resort TV!!!! UGH!!!! The Top 7 thing always popped on when you turned the TV on. Curses!
We decided to hit the pool for some relaxation. I snagged a paper and Peoples from the Food Court (and a couple beers as the pool bar hadn't opened yet, I think it opens at noon!) Here I am judging the plane guys for drinking at 7:30 am when the very next day I am doing the same thing. I was in the sun by the pool, though, so I can sleep at night! Shame on those guys!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2382.jpg
The hippy dippy pool is awesome. Water temps were perfect. Very warm. Lifeguards are very attentive as well, I noticed them a few times being very diligent with pool rules and safety issues! Thumbs up to those guys.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2390.jpg
Here is a pic of me pretending to be knowledgeable!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2384.jpg
After our swim and beverages we were getting a bit hungry! Our plans called for lunch at the resort but with park hoppers burning a hole in our pockets and EPCOT being but minutes away we changed our plans!
Once again, the busses were fantastic, we waited barely 8 minutes before a bus picked us up and we were door to door in under 10 minutes.
EPCOT!!!!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2543.jpg
Sky looks scary but it was actually beautiful out....
We beelined to World Showcase and started in Canada! (we still hadn't decided where to have lunch!)
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2418.jpg
Canada wasn't doing it for us today, probably the cause being our desire to flee Canada not 36 hours prior! We kept walking. UK next door!
We stopped and pretended to make some important calls...you know, Sell Sell! NO I SAID BUY!!!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2550.jpg
We saw a celebrity!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2555.jpg
She seemed very important, lines of people to talk to her and get her autograph. Was told this is Mary Poppins! OHHH I have heard of her!
Hunger pains!
I remembered a tale of the Tangerine Cafe, so off we went for Morocco!
We split the Lamb Shawarma sandwich and it was incredible. We sat outside and Mo'Roccan started playing....great timing!
I have to get back to work, more later tonight!

SO, we left off with our snack at Tangerine Cafe in Morocco at World Showcase. We split a Lamb Shawarma sandwich, which was delicious, and chillaxed with some Mo'Rockin music and dancing. We had adr for Boma at 7pm so we decided to head for the exit and the bus. On our way through the Outpost, we stopped and watched the wood carver do his magic. Sher had me make a wish, so I dressed up and did so!!!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2422.jpg
wish came true!
Since Disney's bus works on a hub system, we were able to grab a direct line to Animal Kingdom Lodge without any transfer. I think we stopped once at Blizzard Beach, and then we arrived at AKL. Total time about 16 - 18 minutes. We were really diggin the bus service!
Like I said, our ADR was for 7 but we arrived at AKL around 5:45.....we needed refreshment. That African sun is hot!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2439.jpg
We toured the resort and made our way eventually to Victoria Falls Lounge. This place was great, very comfortable and delicious drinks.....I got a Tusker Lager....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2451.jpg
and shrimp....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2438.jpg
both awesome by the way!
And Sher got something that would go on to go down in history as "BEST.DRINK.EVER!" The Pina Colava!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2459.jpg
We could smell the food drifting up from down below....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2440.jpg
but Sher was enjoying her drink so much that we handled the wait like real grownups!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2468.jpg
At about 6:30 I got the check and paid up...
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2434.jpg
afterwards, we headed downstairs to check in.
More to come soon!!!!

We checked in at Boma's at around 6:45 and got paged 10 minutes later. Our table for two was right on the window and was very secluded and romantic.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2469.jpg
Our waiter gave the run through on the place. If you have never been, Boma is an african word for a secluded area surrounded by pickets. Safe for grazing! The food stations are not a typical buffett type steam table. The food seems so fresh and it is probably due to the huge crowds that eat there.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2479.jpg
We ordered a couple drinks...I got another african beer and Sher got a tropical fruity drink....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2466.jpg
We sipped our drinks and chatted about the uniqueness of the place. Once comfortable, we made our way to the soup table!
On the menu they had some Lamb stew, a curry chicken soup, a seafood type stew and butternut squash soup.....I snapped a pic of the empty bowl!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2472.jpg
This stuff was like crack. The best soup I have ever tried (at least until we returned to Boma 6 nights later!)
Here is the recipe . Butternut Squash Soup (http://www.allears.net/din/rec_but.htm)
We tried some salads and the Mango Vinaigrette was the clear winner, yum!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2473.jpg
Also in the pic above, the curry pasta salad was terrific as well!
We grabbed some african breads and the yummus hummus as it came to be called!!! Three different types of hummus, including a red pepper, a white bean and the third is gone from my memory...they were great but a bit salty after a while....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2471.jpg
In between courses we watched the kids at the other tables and they were really enjoying themselves....this place is a great kid friendly eatery....I noticed the kids had their own grazing station full of chicken fingers, fries and other kid friendly items. Most of the families we watched were, to their credit, encouraging the little ones to try some of the unique offerings.
Ok, we were ready for some of the meat and veggies! First I got a plate of sirloin, salmon, bobatie and a crusted prime rib....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2474.jpg
I loved the bobotie, (a very sweet tasting shepherds pie like dish) and the prime rib. The salmon was pretty great as well.
Sher ate off of my plate and we were quite satisfied....we couldn't say enough good things about the bobotie.
The service here was outstanding, they were quite attentive to our drinks and empty plates were whisked away with little supervision. I had a couple more beers (which are really quite tasty, almost like a microbrew) and we proceeded to the desert table.....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2480.jpg
The chai tea rice pudding was just ok, the banana bread pudding was great, I pured the chocolate rum sauce over it (of course I did!). The zebra domes are everything you've heard and more! Argh, getting hungry writing this report........
I especially loved the chocolate cannoli's!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2486.jpg
We were pretty satisfied and decided to call it a night. It was close to 10pm so we toured the unique gift shop before hitting our bus stop for the quick and painfree ride home!
While waiting for the Epcot bus at AKL we noticed a family sitting at the MK bus stop. Since I am a card carryin member of the disboard, I remembered that MK had closed at 7pm due to Grad night. I struck up a conversation with them and explained that I was pretty sure MK was closed and that they may be waiting for a bit! The Epcot bus pulled in and Sher and I boarded. The family came up to our bus and asked the driver if MK was open and he said, oh yes, it is open! I told him I was pretty sure it was a Grad night and to double check. Sure enough I was right! Thanks DIS! I got to look like a super hero in front of Sher and this family!

Wow.

YUMMMMMMMMM

Hey Sher, How did you like the meal???
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2366.jpg
Up Next - Magic Kingdom - Open until midnight!!!! We are both a bit tipsy so decide that roller coasters and flume rides are in our future!
Food looks great!! In one pic, you can tell how much Sher likes that drink...she looks in heaven!!:rotfl2:
BTW....why didn't you do the dining plan? It is such a great deal:thumbsup2

One question, how do you eat all of that food and those tasty desserts while drinking all of those beers and tropical drinks?
I would have been stuffed after one of those huge tropical drinks.....

The drinks were awesome. We only did a couple of table service meals...plus we mostly drank alcoholic drinks!
One question, how do you eat all of that food and those tasty desserts while drinking all of those beers and tropical drinks?
I would have been stuffed after one of those huge tropical drinks.....

No problem for us! We really ate slow - we were at Boma for almost 3 hours!
Love this Trip Report. Looks like you had a blast. :)
We did, so much fun. Looking back I can't believe how much stuff we did! As you shall see!

We both woke up around 8:30 Saturday prepared for a day at Epcot (our favourite park) Sher went and fetched breakfast while I lounged in bed watching some (or trying to watch) hockey highlights. In the south, Sportscenter's highlight pecking order is Baseball, Basketball, Football, Nascar, Boxing, College level sports, High School debate, then hockey.
Sher got me an adult platter (YUM) and she got herself some croissant and bagel.....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2675.jpg
The chocolate croissants changed since last year and now are 14 times better! Mounds of chocolate chips and big chunks of gooey goodness stuffed inside!
We showered and dressed and were out the door for our trip to Epcot! We saw a creepy baby doll in a window. This thing haunted us for the rest of the week....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2681-1.jpg
We snooped around the resort a bit before hitting the bus stop ....

Man POP is cool. We couldn't stop grinning all week!
We hopped on a bus, again a very short wait, I think it was about 8 minutes, and we were on our way to Epcot!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22001.jpg
The plan was to spend the entire day at Epcot. Being a Saturday I was expecting the worst. If memory serves, I think we arrived at 10:20am. The lines for security were very light so we had little problems getting inside....and we beelined to Soarin!
The wait was about 40 minutes so we snagged a couple of Fastpasses!
Look at the look in my eye! Time saved!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2525.jpg
We noticed that the line for Living with the Land was non-existent so we took a ride. Sher had never been on before and she was really impressed!
We especially like the Super Dwarf Wheat!

The were growing some kind of superhero fish in the next room....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2497.jpg
Living with the Land was a great ride....just gets better every year.
We grabbed some water at the food court and headed to Soarin! We couldn't believe all the people in Standby....the fastpasses were being distributed for only two hours later but people were still lining up for 60 minutes!>?!?!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2522.jpg
We waited at most 10 minutes before we were let in to the attraction. The lady beside Sher was horribly nervous and drilled us with questions on what to expect. Said she had a fear of heights and couldn't fly without prescription assistance! LOL. We did our best to talk her down and told her it was a surreal experience...nothing to fear. Sure enough, after the ride she was thrilled and we followed them out and watched as they jumped back into the Standby line....maybe thats why the line is so big? Some kind of addictive mind controlling images?
We both really liked Soarin and would not hesitate to recommend it for anyone. Really a great smooth and relaxing ride.
More to come later!

I love Soarin.
You have to be 40 inches for it and we measure DS and he is just under 40 inches....
I hope we measured wrong and really is 40 inches...we wil find out when we get there....crossing our fingers...
if not, gives us a reason to go back a second time...;)

Well Soarin was a hit so we decided to hit some more rides!
Next up was Figment!

We also had some awesome monkey ones but when we checked our email they were nowhere to be found....bummer.
We decided to grab a snack, Sher got the Mickey Ice Cream bar! YUM
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2518.jpg
Was I about to be replaced by an ice cream bar? Possibly.
After the ice cream we stopped in at Club Cool and sampled all the pops....of course Sher fell for the Beverly. Hilarious! I debated grabbing the cool Russian Coca Cola shirt, ultimately passing on it....Does anyone else have trouble spending money on themselves? I had the hardest time buying souvenirs for myself.......

After the refreshing samples of Coke we decided to grab a Fastpass for Test Track. We headed over and the return time was for about 4:15. A cool 4 hours later! Standby line was 45 minutes so we decided to hit Ellens.
What a great attraction, it is very comfy, the effects are holding up well and it's 45 minutes in air conditioning. What could be better?
Afterwards, we decided food was in order! Off to World Showcase through a neat Butterfly exhibit....
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Butterfly.jpg
and into Mexico! We wanted to try the Mexican food but did not want to pay the San Angel prices, so we grabbed some Nacho's to share (as well as a churro!). The nachos were great, a really tasty treat. Churros are unbeatable....such a great place...and one that we ended up coming back to.
We toured World Showcase for a couple of hours....enjoying China, Norway, Japan and France particularily!

Have you ever tried the single rider line on test track? The line moves fast and twice I've been in the car behind my DS's car. It was so quick we hoped off went around and got back on line again. They should have this for more rides instead of sending off rides without full seats. I'm not saying I would want to do it all the time it's fun ride with the family but sometimes it's better than waiting in a long line. Linda

Since we hadn't been given our room number yet, we checked in with registration and were told we had a room in the 50's, building 1, room 1267.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2289.jpg

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2552.jpg
We had some fastpasses to ride TEST TRACK that were burning a hole in our pockets so we headed for the Future WORLDDDDD!!!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/DSCF2543-1.jpg
Funniest thing happened in line for Test Track. As we were passing the CM who checks the fastpass time, I noticed up ahead a young guy jump from the Standby line into the Fastpass line. Then another bud of his did the same thing. We followed them up the line and ended up standing right behind them. Maybe 7 - 8 minutes went by before we inched our way to the next checkpoint. All the time, these guys are whispering their diabolical plans to fool the Cast Member.
Dumb Guy #1 "Yeah, just tell em that they took your ticket at the entrance...just play dumb!"
Easy instructions, right?
Dumb Guy #2 "Yeah, I know, they don't care if you jump lines, what do they care? Just pretend that we belong here! We will be fine"
Sher and I are laughing at their antics and debating on the outcome of their little black ops mission. We both were really pumped to see them get kicked out of the line and forced to retreat to the back of standby. Sure enough, the CM DID not disappoint.
CM "Where's your fastpass?"
DG # 1 "Uh, they took it at the entrance"
DG # 2 "Yeah, he took mine too, said we didn't need it, why? Whats the problem?"
CM "Thats not the way it works, you need to SHOW your fastpass at the entrance and then hand it in to us to confirm. We do it this way to ensure people don't jump lines."
Sher and I start smiling. I break into a snicker at this point and the CM gives me a look. I mouth to him "THEY JUMPED THE LINE" and did a little pantomime of DG#1 and DG#2 hopping the chain. Sher starts giggling.
DG # 2 "But the guy at the front of the line took our stubs? "
CM " OK, here is the exit, this will lead you back to the front where you can rejoin the standby line"
DG # 1 "But this sucks, we have fastpasses"
CM "Uh, no, you don't. See thats were the problem is. Thanks for jumping the line! Have a magical day now!"
Sher and I broke into applause.
Soooo we finally got onto Test Track. We got to ride with a lady from the single rider line who had never been on it before. She grilled us pretty good about what to expect! The ride went off without a hitch and was awesome as usual!
After Test Track we rode Ellens and then headed for home! We spent the night napping and eating in our room in front of the TV. We were both pretty pooped! I got Chicken Fingers and Sher got some salad with chicken. Both were delicious! Man I love POP!!!!
Oh ya, we tried the frozen cokes at this point in our tale and were both immediately hooked! YUM.
Tomorrow was Animal Kingdom DAY!!! I am not nearly as busy as I was the last couple weeks so should have lots of installments up over the next day or two! Thanks for reading!

Your GF looks just like my niece. My niece also as a Pug! Hers is named Zoe. We are looking to stay at the POP so I am really enjoying your trip report.
Also reminds me of when we went on our honeymoon. Of course I love taking DD to Disney, but I think we are so crazy about Disney World because we had such a blast on that first trip BEFORE kids! People ask me all the time why we went there on our honeymoon. I always reply that it has everything you would want. We had a beautiful resort, OKW. We had beaches, fine dinning, all the entertainment and shopping we wanted. We stay out late and go swimming at 3 in the morning. It was heaven. :cloud9:

Now, I left you last on a Saturday night. Sher and I had tucked ourselves in nice and early. We had big plans to tour the Animal Kingdom. I foolishly had hoped to be there for opening. Boy, I was wrong. Girls take so long to get ready in the morning.
We skipped breakfast due to time and promised ourselves a bite to eat at the park. We jumped on a bus (BIG LINES this Sunday morning) and had to settle for standing room only.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22002-1.jpg
The bus stopped once at Blizzard Beach …
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22093.jpg
…before pulling into the (what felt like a Medium Security Prison) bus parking area for Animal Kingdom. Resort to Park was about 21 minutes or so. Not too bad considering the dropping off at Blizzard Beach.
Our first order of business was a Latte and some fruit, which we snagged just inside the gates at a cart. We bolted for Expedition Everest and found a short wait. We grabbed Fastpasses, before jumping in the standby line. Return time on the Fastpasses was a little over an hour away so we were STOKED!
The themeing here is unreal. The props, buildings and effects are so authentic.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22012.jpg
The wait was less than 20 minutes and the nerves started to act up. I WANTED TO RUN!!!!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22018-1.jpg
But of course I didn’t. It is a ride after all. One great rollercoaster. We danced off of this mother. BEEMING!
Another shot of the beautiful queue at EE.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22080.jpg
After EE we ran over to Dinosaur and found a 5 minute wait. (Oh ya, we passed the Nemo theater and noticed that the queue area was at least 14 miles long! We wondered aloud at the sheer scope of the stroller parking area! IT was a good 40 acres.)
Dinosaur was not one of Sher’s favourites. I have ridden it 3 or 4 times and can take it or leave it. I get a bit anxious on it, all the yelling, screaming, bouncing and what have you. Seems to be a case of “WAY TOO MUCH HAPPENING !!! CAN’T PROCESS!!”
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22019.jpg
After the buzzing in our ears died down we decided to head for Africa and the Safari! Sher’s most favourite attraction from the previous year. We were a bit bummed to see a long standby, so we grabbed a couple FP’s and headed to Tusker House for some breakfast. Sher got us some Danish and a beautiful cinnamon roll.
Can you dig it? I sure could.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22021.jpg
After we ate it was a short wait for our fastpass at Kilimanjaro. We jumped in the FP line and before we knew it we were in our truck and heading out to see some wildlife!
Sorry, only took one pic. We found trying to take pictures on the ride actually detracted from the experience. Once we put the camera down it was much more exhilarating.
Gazelle?
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22039.jpg
The ride ended with the same stupid poachers getting caught (AGAIN!) and the rescue of the baby elephant. YAY.
After KS we were in the mood for more animals! So we jumped on the Pangani Forest trek. We saw a lot of great animals.
HIPPOS!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22036.jpg
Hippos without skin!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22037.jpg
Gorillas! These were Sher’s favourite. We must have taken at least 60 pictures of these guys.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22062.jpg
Meer Cats? Supposedly they have been here for four years and are constantly on the watch for danger. Although nothing dangerous has ever come near. Talk about PARANOID!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22044.jpg
We also got some great action from the monkeys near the entrance.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22023.jpg
All in all, we had an incredible time. We both felt that Pangani was worth the price of admission alone. (Well, that and EE)
To be continued!!!!

You won't even believe this, but I had forgotten what Dinosaur was because it had been so long since I had ridden it. My 4 yr old was tall enough & wanted to ride & there was no wait so we hopped on. I was afraid when we got of the police would be there to arrest me for child endagerment! She started screaming within the first second & was sobbing by the time we got off. Fortunately she got over it quickly, I was afraid she wouldn't ride another ride all week!

We had so much fun! Dinosaur wasn't really a part of that fun but it wasn't unpleasant. Just kind of forgettable. Oh well. I miss the food so much. We were both on a diet before and after our trip, so while away we really splurged and did not hold back. I gained 8 lbs! Sher stayed even.

Great installment - I know what you mean about too much going on in Dinosaur. We rode it with our teenage girls last trip and the picture was a hoot - you couldn't see their faces because their hands were covering them and I just looked highly confused :rotfl:
It has been really bugging me who you look like and I think I have finally figured it out - in some ways, you kinda remind me of Daniel Bedingfield (not sure if you've heard of him over in the states). I agree with the other posters though - when's that Disney wedding gonna be :confused3

Thanks for reading, everyone. I am going to try and get lots up tonight, before the Soprano's series finale airs....
After Pangani, we decide to check out Kali River Rapids. We had never been on it before, so were not really sure what to expect. We have been on these raft rides before, with the one at Universal being the most recent. That thing was ridiculous.
We lined up for Kali
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22083.jpg
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22078.jpg
The line moved really quickly. I think it was about a 20 minute standby and the time flew by. When we got near the loading area, a couple of Cast Members started chatting us up. The one said that he bet I would get soaked. The other thought we were both going to get soaked. We laughed it off as propaganda and proceeded to load ourselves into the nearest boat.
Guess what happened next.
We got totally soaked.
Everyone else in the boat looked like they had just spend 20 days in the desert, they were so dry.
On the way out we made sure to give the CM's the once over. Of course, they just laughed and laughed at us.
We saw some cool monkeys near the exit to Kali and snapped some pics before heading off for lunch.
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/rob_byers11/Florida2007April22076.jpg
We decided to hit Flame Tree for some chicken and pulled pork sandwiches. My pork sandwich was terribly dry, Sher's ribs were ok but a bit fatty. The chicken was awesome.
Our view was incredible and as we were sitting, a boat came along with Mickey, Goofy and other characters. They drove right passed us as we were eating....absolutely perfection!

We woke up Monday and were quite tired. Today was a down day so we stayed in bed and snoozed until 10:00am. We got up, dressed and had breakfast at Everything Pop. We ate outside near the Hippy Dippy pool!

After eating we hung out at the pool swimming and chatting. The weather was beautiful! Originally we had planned to just stay at the resort all day but we both got a bit antsy and decided to check out Boardwalk. We hopped a bus to MGM and took the walking path over to Beach Club.

Great trip report. I was worried you weren't coming back. It is nice to read trippies with young couples as my husband and I do not have children of our own yet and are always looking for new things to try.

Glad you came back...I was afraid your TR ended as suddenly as a certain other show we can't talk about yet for fear of backlash from readers on the west coast!! :lmao:
