Currently planning on two MNSSHP days (maybe). I will be making both of my costumes. 1st will be Captain America. The second will be Captain Marvel (Shazam) from DC Comics. Making these were such an adventure, both good and bad LOL

Hi everyone, I'm new here and only recently started reading DISboards. (I'm getting geared up for our trip in October!) First of all, all of the pictures you've posted are so great, and secondly I have to comment on all the members here for being REALLY informative and helpful to other members! Which leads me to my reason for posting:
Obviously, I picked October because I love Disney Halloween "stuff" but have never been during Halloween or any other holiday season. I know that MNSSHP requires a ticket, but is it in an actual location of the park, "roped" off from other park visitors or only people with a ticket are allowed to stay in the park after a designated time? If you don't have a ticket, do you not get to see the parade with the Headless Horseman? Do you actually trick-or-treat? Who hands out candy? Also, what's the typical protocal for dressing up? :confused3 It seems like everyone should be Disney-themed but I have a feeling I may not be able to get my husband in a costume, I may have a better chance to do a generic costume. I'm sure I'll have more questions, but for now, thanks in advance!!!

First off - :welcome:
1 - Only people who have purchased a ticket for MNSSHP and have gotten a wristband are allowed to stay in the park after 7pm (the party's start time.) All other guests without wristbands will be ushered out of the park.
2 - No. Only ticketed guests can stay to watch. If they don't see one of the MNSSHP wristbands on a guest, they will be asked to leave.
3- Yes.
4- There are Cast Members all over the Magic Kingdom handing out candy. There are designated "Trick or Treat" areas where you can go to get candy.
5 - There really is no protocol when it comes to Disney or not. I've seen people dressed as Disney characters, Wizards, Ugly Betty, football players, etc- there is no rule that says it has to be a Disney costume.
These are the only rules given by Disney:
Halloween Costumes Should NOT:
* Obstruct the guest's view or interfere with their ability to board/unload from attractions and/or the Walt Disney World Resort transportation system (including monorails, ferry boats and motorcoaches).
* Drag on the ground.
* Contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally stike another guest.
* Be offensive to other guests.
* Contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

Thanks Bella! I'm assuming that all of the rides stay open during the Party? On the nights that MNSSHP isn't going on, is the parade the normal one or do they have a Halloween Parade?
Also, does anyone know how quickly the the Haunted Carriage Rides at Fort Wilderness fill up? Anyone not able to purchase a ticket: how far out were you booking when they were already full?

Here is my thought. . .tell me what you think. . .
I'm going as Dr. Temperance Brennan from the TV show BONES. I will wear business casual clothing with a badge like the character has. Possibly wear rubber gloves and carry around a skull if I can find one.
I'm afraid it isn't enough. Guess I'll keep thinking. What do you think?

Those costumes are swwwwwweeeeeetttt! There are pirates and princesses, witches and Peter Pans, and Disney and non-Disney.
Well, here's one that is unique, and that was taken last Tuesday:

That's right - this is the 1990's grunge look! It's nothing more than a pair of jeans (I should have ripped them for authenticity, but I want them to be re-wearable as well as modest enough for Disney.), a plaid flannel shirt, A Disney shirt, my Lion King hat worn backwards, and sneakers.
Oh, and I went with Muetti, but she wore only an orange top and jean shorts, for a modest, yet Halloweeny look.
Here's our photo with Cinderella's coach:

weird question, but the strips for the colors on the shirts, are they colored duct tape? Or are they iron on lines? Very cool

We went this past Sunday and my favorite costumes we saw was a large family dressed as characters from Toy Story. Woody, Jessie, potato heads, slinky dog, buzz, etc. And they were good looking costumes, not cheapy - they put time into it! It inspired me for next year, thats for sure.

Sorry for being a bit late!
I celebrated my 40th birthday at the November 1 MNSSHP. Here I am as Snow White.

It was my 2nd time at MNSSHP but my 1st time dressing up. It was so much fun. I loved all of the little girls that wanted to hug me or have their picture taken with me...so magical!!!

Bumping for all planning their costumes now (like me). :)
Our plans are: DD11, Tink; DD16, either Wendy or Fawn; DS Terrance or Hook (they're teens...they haven't decided if it is 'cool' to walk around all night as a fairy yet); and I am Queen Clarion. Our 2nd party...only DD dressed up last year but we didn't realize the 'big kids' could too. This year, we are all into it! :)

We're going on 10/11 and we're really excited. DS is going to be the Mad Hatter and DD is going to be Mary Poppins. They are twins and I was trying to get one or the other to match up with the other character and have Mad Hatter and Alice, or Mary Poppins and Bert - and they wouldn't budge. Oh well! :)
DH and I are still trying to figure out what to be - I'm leaning toward mouseketeer, but haven't really decided yet.
Any other pictures or ideas out there? popcorn::

:wave2: This is our first trip during the Halloween season & our 1st ever MNSSHP. We're super excited. There is 6 of us as well, me, DH & DD. DD is 10 and our BFF's are going with us. Our DD's are best friends too. We were going to be some type of Superhero team but I'm all about "theme" & tying stuff in but I could never come up with a team name. :confused3 The only name we all really liked that incorporated Disney was "The Poor Unfortunate Souls" and that's not very superhero-y :rotfl:
So we've decided to be pirates. pirate: Each Halloween at our home we do a big pirate display in our yard, so we've got the costumes and I'm getting panicky too with time closing in  So I feel for you - I know how you're feeling!
Is your group wanting to coordinate? One of my ideas  that I thought would be simple to put together was Party Animals. Each person could be a different animal and then everyone wear party hats, etc.
I'll keep checking the thread to see what you all decided. Maybe we'll see ya. We'll be one of the many pirate groups!pirate:

I will probably post once the final decision has been made!
