i was just wondering what's the best/most memorable thing everyone has brought back home with them after their disney trips. Obviously pictures are the most priceless items but what else?

i'm just looking for ideas on how not spend my money on stuffed animals and things like that that can already be purchased at the Disney Store near me. and i think this would be fun.

thanks guys:earboy2:

mickey mouse umbrella..

Last year I brought a mat (the kind that goes around a 4x6 pic) and got signatures on it.

This year, I went to a local pottery painting place and got a mug, (which is being fired in their oven) and some special ceramic pens for autographs. When we get home you bake it in the oven to seal it.

I have a pair of Mickey Mouse earrings that I bought at YC for my birthday present to myself in 2005. Last year at YC I bought a sterling silver flip flop bracelet with tiny Mickey heads on it. Those are my two favorite souvenirs because I can wear them every day and have a little piece of the magic with me.

Christmas Stocking for DS- We bought a stocking for DS on our last childless WDW vacation. I was 7 months pregnant at the time.:cloud9: We bought it in the Canadian Pavillon of Epcot. Canada is DH and my favorite country in the world showcase. It is something the will be special to all of us each year we hang it. It is so cute...Canadian plaid with Mickey skiing on it.

Mickey Watch- my favorite souvenir is a Silver Mickey Mouse watch DH bought me while we were dating.

I second (third?) the earrings--last time I bought myself a pair that I just love! They are big dangles with mickey heads!

My husband picked up for me a mug at the POC shop--at first I thought, do I really need another mug?:confused3 Guess which one I have drank almost every cup of coffee out of since our trip? LOL

We use the popcorn buckets whenever we have popcorn at home. We have one from Epcot, and one from MK--Hope to add another one this Sept!

And the kids love t-shirts. I am not a big t-shirt wearer myself, but did wear out a Mickey sweatshirt we bought on a previous trip. And a pair of Minnie pjs have aided my Disney dreams!:cloud9:

And one more--we bought a print at the World of Disney store in DTD that I had framed at home that hangs in our Mickey bathroom.

I love souvenirs that get used!

I was a kid in the 70's when I got a Darth Vader mask. The kind that encompasses your entire head like a globe. I remember being amazed that it looked EXACTLY like the one in the films. Who knew that years later, there'd be a Star Tours attraction and Star Wars Weekends?

Retro artwork of the rides at Disneyland. I know if isn't WDW but that was my favorite.

I will probably get something similar when in WDW this fall.

I'm sure they sell these all over Disney, but in Animation at MGM and inside the castle at MK they sell these cute pics already matted....

You can get your favorite character and have them sign the mat.:cheer2:

I bought a beautiful Tink broche (silver) in 2004... then I went to Disneyland in 05 and bought a pair of cute earings (Mickey heads) and this year I found the matching Mickey necklace (Mickey head flotting on the chain)... I buy a piece of jewelry every time. Can't wait to add to my collection ha!

The kids love to buy a game exclusive to Disney... like Magic Kingdom game, or clue Disney etc..

My favorite is clothes. I bought a nice long sleeved button front shirt with the WDW logo over the pocket on our last trip in 2003. I still wear that shirt (at least in the cooler months). T-shirts are okay, but I like something I can wear to work regularly.

Let's see....

I get a Christmas ornament each time we are there, so every time we put up our tree, I can think of Disney! :)

I have a frame that I bought for our honeymoon that is still on my dresser.

My boys have gotten some interesting things... this past trip (just 8 days ago), they made their own Light Sabers in DTD and I know they'll be treasured souveniers for a long time!

Starting on our honeymoon I bought DW a sterling silver charm bracelet and have added to it each trip.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c84/lblambert/Bracelet.jpg

Last year when we went down for our anniversary I bought her this Mickey self-portrait sculpture:

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c84/lblambert/DisBoard/selfport.jpg

My own favourite was this character drawing of Jack Skellingon we bought at MGM. When we saw it we noticed that the artist who drew it was in another shop across the street working on another one so after we bought it we brought it over and asked him to personalize it for us. We didn't expect him to do the fancy NMBC style lettering but he spent quite a bit of time on it and the end result really made it special.

the best souveniers are always going to be the pictures and memories, :flower3: but the best thing of all is every night at the dinner table my girls talk about disney what they loved on our trip and what we are going to do next trip and my husband (who took me 4 years to talk in to going to disney in the first place!) chimes right in with his favorites!!!:thumbsup2

oh, and the picture of the family with Jack Sparrow in the potc ride line. while sitting on the boat wating to start the ride,my dd who was 11 at the time, said to me, " I met Jack Sparrow, ok, we can go home now!"

I guess I would have to say a cream colored super soft fleece pull over with a hood I bought at Disneyland in 2000 for $60.00. It has DISNEYLAND embroidered across the front with the characters peeking out from behind the letters. It is the warmest softest fleece I have ever seen and it is the only thing I wear when I walk in the mornings and it is 22 degrees and It keeps me warm! I have worn it for 7 years now, and it is like new and beautiful and everytime I wear it I get compliments (although the people here in NC always over look the LAND part and say I have been to disneyWORLD!) You know, a lot of people don't even know there are two places! Can you beleive it?!?!?
I love my jacket, and everytime I wear it I am back at Disneyland in the magic!:wizard:

My fave thing for the kids? I bought them a stitch hat last year at WDW. It is fleece and has hair and big stitch ears and it is so cute. Everywhere we go people point and stare and laugh and say how cute! A lot of people think it is eyeore because of the ears. It is great!

I bought a pair of small Mickey head gold post earrings in 1998. I paid $110 for them and it almost killed me, but I wear them at least 320 days a year and they make me happy every time I see them in my ears! I don't do math well, but if I punched the numbers right, that's 26 cents a day right now, and going down more with every day I wear them!

I have a ton of favorites. All my kitchen stuff: a mickey pasta bowl (we use for everything from pasta to salad to popcorn), salt/pepper shakers, coffee mug, mickey glass, bottle opener with mickey head, etc. I use these items almost everyday, and think of disney each time. My kids favorites turned out to be the drinking glasses they each picked out. Each child has their own and they drink out of them every day. My daughter who is 5 loves her princess hairbrush (daily used) and mickey barrettes. I think my favorite item though is the mickey camera bag I bought. I take a ton of pictures all year long and smile each time I take out the camera remembering the disney trip I bought that bag on. I love the jewelry ideas, esp. the charm bracelet one. I think I'll have to start that on our next trip! I also love the autograph ideas. What a fun thread!

From our 1999 trip, I bought a pair of earrings with CZ Mickey heads hanging from small hoops. Wear them ALL the time...good investment there.

We bought All Star mugs each trip and DD drinks out of them daily. They're all she drinks from.

Bought a 5 x 7" wooden frame from MK on my last trip. It's not dated, so we could change the photo every trip if we want.

I have a little "bronze" Eiffel Tower from my first trip to Epcot. I "did" have a blown glass castle, till I dropped it on a tile floor when dusting....tried to replace it on the next trip, but never found one like it.

My husband's most treasured souvineer is a Fossil watch he purchased at Downtown Disney. There's a Mickey Head at the 12 o'clock position, plus around the wrist are the letter M's. (The watch is all silver, very sleek. If you're not into Mickey Mouse, you'd look over those few details I just listed.)

I got some peals from oysters in the Japan Pavillion at Epcot, and my husband set one pearl in a ring, and the other in a necklace.

Photopass CD from our mother/daughter trip. Also, we both bought charm bracelets, and while we each picked different charms, we often wear them at the same time and they bring back not only memories, but tons of talk about where we bought them and how much fun we had picking out the charms.

Mine would be this cool stainless steel writing pen from the scrapbook store in DTD (can't remember the name right now :headache: ). It's stainless with red, white and blue Mickey heads cut out of the barrel. I collect all sorts of odd and unusual ink pens from all over the place.

I buy a Disney World photo album each time with the year on the front. Then I have a special place to keep all of our photos from the trip. When we get ready for another trip, we pull out the albums, and start remembering our last trip.

I bought a navy blue jacket with the park emblems on the back in gold thread. That is the warmest jacket. It is like a soft sweatshirt type of material on the inside and sort of waterproof fabric on the outside. So cozy!! It also has a hood. I spent $70 on it, which I normally don't spend on a lightweight jacket.

My husband bought me Tinkerbell gold earrings at MGM. And I love them!

My favorite was actually a wedding present given to us from the GF on our honeymoon. It's a GF Cookie Jar. I have it in our kitchen and I love looking at it. It's 11 yrs. old now.

Now the kids refer to the GF as the Cookie Jar.

Hmmm...the best or most memorable thing I've brought back from Disney. Well, I can't pick just one. I'd say Christmas ornaments are special. As we take them out each December, we remember the trip when we bought them. Since they are packed away carefully after Christmas, it's the one souvenir that never seems to get lost! Another inexpensive thing that I like is fridge magnets. We have one from each of the resorts we stay at, and they are always up on the fridge and remind us of our trips. I'd have to say though that the best thing we bring back from Disney are our videos/pictures and memories! I also have my favorite Mickey fleece hoodie. It's 15 years old and has stains on it and I still wear it. We also use our refillable mugs alot, (at home, people, at home!) even though they're all faded from the dishwasher.

Favorite?? Oh lord. Pictures, of course. My Pal Mickey. I love him. I love that I can hear Mickey's voice whenever I want to. My Figment and Dreamfinder figurine. My wedding Precious Moments-Disney Figurine. I actually recently bought a shirt from Epcot. It's blue and has the castle on it with sparkles. It was 40% off so I figured, why not? It is THE SOFTEST shirt I own. I could continue but I suppose I should give someone else a chance. Lol.

We really like to have small items that remind us of a dozen wonderful vacations over the past 20 years. Yes, the memories and photos (we have lots online) are the best. A Disney frame makes it magical:

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa132/brentrauscher/frame.jpg

We have some nice cells, but they ARE expensive. Therefore, we have also purchased several posters, framed them, and placed them in our "powder room" (a concentrated Disney shrine). The self-portrait figurine shown by "Cdn Friends of Pooh" reminded me of this one:

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa132/brentrauscher/poster.jpg

We love getting real Disney art, such as character drawings. Even the villains get represented, so we have this beauty:

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa132/brentrauscher/queen.jpg

You can easily have any of the drawings customized as you wish and it just makes it sooo special (as this one done for our DD18):

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa132/brentrauscher/alice.jpg

My most prized items are these top-of-the line $2000 key chains! They are quite expensive, but each one came with a free Disney vacation  [And, yes I do love the irony of Scooby using the Mickey alias]:

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa132/brentrauscher/keychains.jpg

Also, tote bags to carry stuff (at Disney and at home) are super. We have lotsa Disney Christmas Tree ornaments (our "stained glass" seven dwarves are now 20 years old!) and a few pullovers to keep us warm in the Florida cold....

On my first trip to Disney, I was SOOOO afraid of riding Tower of Terror but I told myself I had to. I did it and loved it so on my way out (the first time!, rode it 2 times after!), I bought a package of TOT playing cards from the gift shop as an inexpensive reward. They worked perfect for my DIS scrapbook TOT page! They say HTH Hollywood Tower Hotel (PS I used the Joker cards on the scrapbook page so the deck would still be useful).

Gotta agree with maleficent, esq. on the character drawings. We have one (Beauty and the Beast) that my spouse had personalized for our anniversary, and one that we had made for our soccer-loving niece: a soccer-playing Mickey with the caption "Bend it Like Mickey!" It's great to have something so unique and yet so familiar. I think they're available at The Art of Disney in DTD.

I have THREE alltime favorite souvenirs. The first is one of those 3D pictures in the crystal block of my family. http://s196.photobucket.com/albums/aa247/debnjr/?action=view&current=IMG_0204.jpg

My second of them is my Mickey Mouse Watch http://s196.photobucket.com/albums/aa247/debnjr/?action=view&current=IMG_0208.jpg

My third favorite is my Hidden Mickey Clock. It sits in our living room so we can see a Hidden Mickey all the time!! http://s196.photobucket.com/albums/aa247/debnjr/?action=view&current=IMG_0205.jpg

(I give up...I can't figure out how to post my reduced sized pictures on here...it just copies the url. Sorry!! If anyone wants to PM me to let me know what I'm doing wrong, I'd appreciate it!!)

I also have a pair of Tinker Bell earrings where she's got a Santa Hat on, so those are only out at Christmas time, and I LOVE to wear them!!

Great thread! I love reading about everybody's favorite souvenirs!

I bought a set of mickey egg/ pancake molds. The kids love it when i make eggs in the shape of mickey, it reminds them of our trips to Disney!
The Mickey ice cube tray is great, when we have guests over they comment on how cute it is!
Of course I love the coffee mugs I get there, every morning when i drink my coffee it reminds me of all of the fun we had.
On our last trip, in Epcot we picked up the "Cooking with Mickey and the Disney Chefs" cookbook. I haven't had a chance to cook from it yet, but it has recipes from the WDW and DL theme park restaurants and resorts as well as from the Disney Cruise Line. I can't wait to use it!:thumbsup2

We didn't buy it at the park buy got it off of one of the web sites that sells park items. It's an actual door from the Buzz Lightyear ride. Aren't sure what we'll do with it yet but the children, and mom & dad, think it's really cool.:cool1:

ok, DW thought it strange, but still cool!

I had no idea. But I have a neighor who'd really into halloween he builds all kinds of things, and is handy with motors and such. He thinks we can build a lazy susan kind of base and put the door and a bench on it. I got a buzz lightyear blaster off ebay. They sell them at one of the gift shops near the ride. Just flashes light and makes cool noises. We'll buy another one on our next trip. The kids should have a blast, if it doesn't take us 15 years!

I'll definetely figure out how to post a picture before I do much with it.

The best ones are those that keep the magic alive.pixiedust:

My Grandma used to take us every year, sometimes twice. She bought me a minnie mouse watch with a bright red leather band at the emporium on main street. She bought this when I was in 3rd grade (1983). She told me it was time to wear my mickey for all to see (of course I picked a minnie).::MinnieMo

I wore it with pride until I had to have a couple of swatches (remember those, or am I really dating myself) in middle school. By high school the little leather band didn't fit anymore and the watch found it's way into a desk drawer. I pulled it out when I was visiting home one summer from college. Believe it or not, it was still working!!! Well worth the money. . .I brought it to a watch repair shop and had it cleaned, and changed the wrist band. I then wore it every day after that. My Grandma died 3 years later from cancer, but not before we all took one last WDW trip. You should have seen her face though when I pulled this out originally and she said, "you should always wear your minnie for all to see!"

It finally stopped working about 5 years ago. :sad2: It was covered in scratches (front and back) and was retired to my drawer, where I can pull it out often to remember. It has been replaced with a Dopey watch. When my 4th graders at school ask why I wear a dopey watch, I tell them that I will always wear my mickey on my arm for all to see. While they don't understand, I'll never forget.

Do souvenirs get better than that? :thumbsup2

I love the different character shaped pens. I keep them on my desk and my students enjoy them, too. I also collect antenna toppers, but I need a way to display them. Any ideas?pirate:

When my sis and I went to WDW 4 years ago I saw a framed print of Alice, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella and it was signed by the ladies who were the voices of the characters. I kept going back and looking at it, but couldn't bring myself to buy it. When we got home unbeknownst to me, my sister told my DH how much I was admiring the picture and he said he wanted me to get it. I  it and it's hanging in my family room so I can look at it every day!!

Also, at DL 6 years ago, my DD and DS had their portraits done in pastels and I love those pictures, too! :)

One more...2 years ago we were at DL over our anniversary and my DH bought me an Olszewski piece and with that one piece, we now have the whole DL collection of his pieces. They are awesome (Sorry to get carried away, but I just love Disney souvenirs!)

in certain areas, the stores sell photo stills from disney movies, (i.e.:: toy story)) they are movie stills from the movies- and i think it's a neat idea, example, if your nephew or son's fav disney movie is alladin, and you get a freeze frame movie still of alladin on the carpet- and maybe even get it autographed, you can frame it- if it's not already framed, and that makes a nice gift for more than just a few months/weeks after u get back from the trip!! specifically, i can think of MGM that does that- as soon as u walk in the park on the left- there's a little shop, but i'm sure the photostills are anywhere on site.

Woah! Especially true when you MUST bring those kids back to Disney every year! Tell 'em just where they were conceived, too. "The year before your birth, your father and I were on the Small World ride...." :rotfl:

Anyway, I love the cells and have two of them that we just love. They are stamped as limited editons:

It's nice to get 'em signed, too. This one is signed by Jim Cummings, the voice of "Winnie the Pooh".

Ebay has lots of stuff; it might not be a true souvenir, but it sure is a great memory! One year I bought this stock certificate for my wife; Disney makes them very pretty (so they don't get redeemed?):

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa132/brentrauscher/Posts/P002.jpg

And this one is from Mouse Surplus (http://www.mousesurplus.com/); it is an old sign from the boat docks at which the Friendships land. We have so many fond memories of taking those boats to MGM and to the "back side" of Epcot, that its fun to see this when we relax out in the backyard by the pool:

Love everyone's shared experiences! It is the "stuff" that keeps our memories fresh and brightens an average day....

My favorite souvenier is a Minnie Mouse plush that I got on my first Disney trip back in 1976.Back then there weren't any Disney stores so it was really a special treat. I believe that we got it at the gift shop that was just outside the exit of the park before catching the tram to go out to the parking lot.I dragged that Minnie Mouse around everywhere and it shows.I still have it today and it brings back many happy memories for me.

I have two. One is a pin. It is the same as the self portraits people have been posting pictures of, just in pin form. I love it! It reminds me not only of Disney, but a painting by Norman Rockwell that I love.

The other is from a cruise, and it has a (very sad) story behind it. While on the cruise, I met a boy. :lovestruc We had so much fun on the trip! We went everywhere and did everything together. Well, he gave me a gold charm bracelet with his inital and a sombrero on it (we were in Mexico). After the trip, I wore it every day, as a connection to him, becuase he lived so far away. Then, one day, I was in the hospital and they needed me to take it off for a few minutes. I gave it to my dad...my dad put it down...and I never saw the bracelet or the boy again. :sad1:

I love souvineers, though. Shopping is one of the best parts of Disney, don't you think?

On our last trip, we found these new vending machines
that makes dog tags and luggage tags for $10.
You get to choose design, type your name and see the machine engrave it for you - it takes only mins.
We each made one. Mine is on my key-ring for work. If I ever
misplaced them, they could be identified. My one son put his tag on his lunch box and my other son put his tag on his backpack as a zipper pull.
What a great everyday reminder of the most magical place on earth. :thumbsup2

There weren't many of these vending machines. I think they are new and testing the idea. There is one on the Boardwalk, one in Pooh Corner at
Downtown Disney and one in MGM by the Studio Catering Co. Flatbread Grill.

We really enjoy the pressed pennies as souvenirs,
resort mugs,
trader pins,
and the CD that has all the music from the parks (I forget what it's called, but I play it all the time while I'm driving)
but I'm somewhat of a packrat and even saved the box our chocolate covered pretzels came in,
as well as the plastic Disney bags from any store.

Then, I'll come home and make a scrapbook with our photos and everything else from restaurant napkins to room keys.

My mickey watch I bought on my first trip about 15 years ago I still wear almost everyday. This past trip I bought a cute mini photo album key chain and put pics from our trip in it. If I'm waiting in line for anything I'll take a little trip back through our pictures.

We buy a Christmas ornament on every vacation we go on, not just WDW. (The employees at Cedar Point thought I was loony asking if there was anywhere that sold Christmas ornaments! Only one shop sold them and no one knew for sure which one it was!) I love decorating my Christmas tree and seeing the ornaments from all the places we've been. My favorites are a Mickey and Minnie bride and groom photo frame one from our honeymoon, with our wedding photo inside, and one commemorating our 4th anniversary, a gift on our last vacation from our friends.

I also have Mickey earrings and an Italian charm bracelet with mostly WDW charms. I love wearing them!

:thumbsup2

What a beautiful story!! Thanks for sharing it!

My DD5 is the same way! That was our first visit to WCC. DD5 discovered the corn and ended up eating 9 pieces and little else. The waitress actually came back with another pan of corn just for DD (you can see it in the photo). We're staying at WL for our next trip mainly so DD can be close to the corn. ;)

A few years ago, I bought a bank with the icons from the four parks on it (tree of life, Cinderella's Castle, Golf ball, and water tower (this was before the big hat was put in at MGM) and we put our spare change in it. We use it for pressed pennies and other souvenirs at the parks.

I almost forgot another one of my favorites! Every year I buy a mini photo album at one of the Disney outlet stores from the previous year, with the year printed on it.

Tell them to save some for us! We'll be there on July 22,just behind you, and I'm sure Abigail would love an extra pan of corn for herself!

We'll be at WL too! What a small world. . .:rolleyes1
