After I had my 2nd, I went into an "I never want to see these clothes again!" rage and got rid of quite a few of my maternity clothes, including my swimsuit.  I don't know what I was thinking. Anyway, ideally I'd only like to spend $20 on a swimsuit, but I'd be willing to spend $35 for one I really liked. So far, I can only find ones with bikini bottoms, and I'd rather rather wear a swim skirt or shorts.
I've looked at Target, Motherhood Maternity, JC Penneys, etc. I'm not having much luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Could I buy a larger size swimsuit that's not maternity or do you think the top would be too baggy in the chest area? I'd normally wear about an 8, I think.
Thanks for the suggestions!

I never wore any clothes or swimsuits that were true maternity wear when I was pregnant with any of my kids. I just went up a size or two in things. As for a swimsuit being too baggy in the chest...well, at least with my kids, during pregnancy my chest got a little bigger too. But to be honest, the bust really does not change much from size to size unless you are making the jump from misses to plus sizes, then there is a significant difference. I'd just steer clear of any swimsuits that may constrict your belly (like those miracle suits)...don't want to cause any discomfort to you or the baby.
Have you tried Ebay for a swimsuit? Lots of reputable folks sell perfectly new suits (with the tags and liners still attached). You may even be able to get a regular maternity suit that is within your budget. :flower3:

I bought mine at Old Navy (online and in store) and they were reasonably priced. I was able to purchase the top and bottom separately to get the bottoms that I preferred. I really liked them. Very comfy and not restrictive at all.

Could you just wear regular bikini bottoms? (maybe a size up) and just buy a tankini/maternity top. They sell separates alot of places.

And I recently saw some cute maternity swimsuits at Walmart of all places.

I wore a tankini swimsuit with skirt bottom that I already had. I had purchased it at a surf shop (so more than $20 unfortunately) at some time post partum after my 2nd..so it was roomy when I wore it this pregancy (until I got big then it fit just fine). The top was a baggy top by design (not a fitted tankini IOW.)
Unfortunately no pictures for you--but I would just hit the non-maternity racks.
Also this pregnancy, I tended to purchase (in general) clothes from the misses and womens rack....it was cheaper than maternity and since maternity tends to fit me funny (that whole buy the same size you were prepregnancy nonsense) and it made me too darn sad when even XL in maternity wouldn't fit right.

I have one from Old Navy and one from Motherhood. I paid about $20 for each of them on the clearance rack. I cannot just wear a larger suit because I get big and from the belly stretching it up it pulls up and gives me a wedgie. I bought those bathing suits for when I vacation or I am at my Mom's. In my own backyard is a whole nother story.:rotfl2: In my yard I wear a sports bra and a bikini bottom. I hate all the material on the maternity bathing suits. I figure my yard is fenced in and private. If you look over my fence and are horrified then it serves you right!:rotfl:

I got mine at the Gap. Each piece was on sale for 19.99. Tank top tankini w/ bikini bottoms and a matching skirt in the same fabric. Black. Awesome. Wore like iron (I live at the beach). All three pieces came to $60 (more than your budget) but you might want to check out their website.

I got most of my maternity clothes from second hand stores. I was able to do anentire wardrobe for under $100. Have you checked the Salvation Army or Goodwill?

Little known fact: Target sends their overstocks and salvage to Goodwill. I got my Liz Lange brand-new swimsuit there for $3.50. I also got Liz Lange shirts and shorts, and picked up some clearance maternity jeans at Target. I've only spent about $50 and basically have enough clothes to get me through until January. In my Goodwill, anything with a light green paper tag is direct from Target.
Ack! Just saw this is a ghost thread!

Yikes! I didn't notice that. Why do people do this? Why bring back a thread that is over four years old?!?

That's too funny. Yeah, I no longer need a maternity swimsuit for my preschooler or the baby I've had since then. :lmao:
