I've never stayed on property at Universal even though I have an AP. I was thinking of staying at the Royal Pacific for the night of Dec. 2 before we start our Disney stay. I checked it out and they have a AAA rate of $167.20. Is this a good rate? Is it worth the price? I see they say shuttle or water taxi to get to the parks. Do they have water taxi's for Royal Pacific? Any info would be appreciated. I'm trying to do this as a surprise for my DH.

That is a good rate for RPR. This is Universal's "lower end" property but , is a deluxe by Disney standards. Water taxis do run from the resort to a main docking area (City Walk) where you can easily get to both parks. I find it just as easy to walk (it should take you about 10 mins depending which tower your room is in). I have never taken the bus shuttle because we prefer the boat or to walk. The best part about staying there is the front of the line access to so many of the attractions!! I would also check out the thread about RPR. You'll have a great time!

December 2 is a Sunday, right? They will likely release APH rates a few months before, and you may do better with an AP rate. If you're staying on a Friday or Saturday though, many times the AAA and AP rate are pretty close.

When I called to make the reservation, they told me the APH rate would be more expensive for the water view than the AAA rate. So, I booked it anyway just to make sure I got it for the day I wanted. They asked if it was okay to note on my ressie that it's an anniversary trip. Strange. Do they do anything for anniversaries? I've never heard of anything nor stayed on property before though I've had my AP for 11 years.

AAA might be cheaper than APH now, but usually as the dates gets closer, they release "the" APH specials, so keep your eye on it.

That's nice that they noted your anniversary (and I hope that it's a happy one :)). They noted our honeymoon, but we didn't get squat. :)
