I'm really curious about this place but haven't heard much. Does it take reservations? Where is it? Most importantly, how's the food?

Any opinions, pro or con, would be very appreciated!

Its at city walk, doesn't take reservation and the food is really good( if you like shrimp!) they do other bits too but the majority of the meal is shrimp.
ITs a really fun atmosphere. My son and i really like it and think prefer this one to the one in NYC :-)

Great "Shrimp New Orleans" and decent milkshakes that almost taste as good as ice cream.

There's a Bubba Gumps in New Orleans' French Quarter. The food there is delicious. My daughter loves that restaurant,so we plan on eating there when we go in May.

I have a few pictures at the top of my page here.
Universal Studios Menus (http://www.nogodforme.com/UniversalMenus2007.htm)
The official site is here.

Seems like shrimp is the main attraction on the menu.

Try the Far Out Dip! It's really excellent (no shrimp in that). My hubby liked the Fish and Chips. They also have some really friendly staff there. It's one of our new favorites. :)

My family has done Bubba Gumps at Daytona. The shrimpers absolutely love it! I have something non seafood and the food has always been good. My children think the atmosphere is a lot of fun. They beg to go there to eat.

we went last October and liked it. DD10 and I don't eat shrimp(she dosen't even like seafood) and we enjoyed our meal. DH couldn't decide between two shrimp dishes, so he ate 1 there and took one back to the room for later. We had fun with our server doing a Forrest Gump trivia game, too. I had a really good drink there, and I can't remember the name. We got to keep our glasses(you pick up a brand new glass like the one your drink was in at the giftshop), and I still use mine. Enjoy

Tara - what did you and your daughter eat? My DS17 doesn't like seafood, and he doesn't like burgers, either. When I looked at the menu on the link posted above, there isn't anything other than burgers and a pulled pork sandwich (an iffy thing with him). The kids' menu DID have a pepperoni pizza; wonder if they'd let a 17-year-old order from the kids' menu?

Pastamore is located next to Bubba Gumps. So if the DS17 doesn't see anything on the menu he likes, he can go next door to Pastamore and eat pizza or pasta. At Pastamore, you walk up, order your food, then eat at tables outside. He could then come back and join you for desert or meet you outside.

surprised there's no steak; most seafood houses have a surf & turf option.

They also have chicken strips and fried chicken. Looks great too!

There was in January as I had it and it was very nice :)

DH had the 'Bubba's After the Storm Bucket of Boat Trash', which he really liked.

I had 'Bubba's After the Storm Bucket of Boat Trash' at Bubba Gumps in San Francisco last year and must say it is a nice selection of seafood :hippie:

The menu on Allearsnet (http://www.allearsnet.com/uni/menu/men_bub.htm) is more accurate to how I remember it being, I think the internet menu is just a small selection.

Claire - thanks for the All Ears menu - I feel better about it now.

That photo of bucket of boat trash looks like it could feed 3 or 4 people! Yowza!

Wow, great pics and I appreciate both menus. There's plenty I'd like but so far the Shrimp New Orleans and the Key Lime Pie sound the best.

Where in Citywalk is it? Did it replace one of the other restaurants?

It is not as much as you think as it is really only at the top of the bucket beneath the top layer it is a bottom so the bucket is not actually full from bottom to top! Even still an original way to serve it up and it tastes good too!

Yes it replaced the Decades Cafe aka the old Motown Cafe.

Bubba's Mom, loved your pictures, the chicken and the shrimp looks so good! But the picture of the burger (I'm assuming it was a child's burger) looked very small compared to the bun, were the kids happy with their meal? And has anyone tried dessert here and if so, what did you have?

We eat at Bubba Gumps virtually every time we go to USF and IOA...which is a LOT!!! We LOVE the Bucket of Boat Trash, which could indeed easily feed two people. It has deep fried shrimp, fish (mahi mahi) and mini lobster tails, plus a huge helping of french fries below it. My other favorite is the coconut shrimp (although you can get that lots of places), and the artichoke dip is a great appetizer...kind of different from what you usually get.

If you're not into fish, I recommend their barbeque...yum!! And for dessert, the bread pudding is absolutely sinful (the sauce is what makes it).

i thought all the kids in our group got the pizza...i had to go back and look at my own picture :rotfl: anyhows...yes, the kids were ALL very happy and i think that burger looks smaller than it was. i know my son's pizza looks small in that picture, but i know it was bigger than the pizza at Olive Garden (say). DS ate the whole pizza...and the desserts come with the child's meal. None of the kids complained and all ate about all their meals!

I loved the atmosphere, the food was average and the prices were extravagant! Im glad we tried it, but I wont go again.

My parents said the food at Bubba Gumps in Daytona was great, so we will be trying that one later this month =)

You thought that the prices were high? From what I'm seeing on the menu, they seem to be right in line but is that high for that area?

Prices seem pretty fair to us for the Orlando/theme parks area.

They didn't have it on the website but the coconut shrimp is SOOOO good! We always get the garlic shrimpers net catch :) (Very good peel & eat shrimp.) The far out dip you can get shrimp on it ;) They use to have the best garlic crab legs but not sure if they do anymore :confused3 The best I've ever had. They've changed their menu since I've been there last. But still very good imo :)

The lava flows are also really good :thumbsup2 (even the non-alcoholic)

You've all convinced me to give it a try on our next visit. I hope they take reservations by then. I'm glad to read the bread pudding is good. The bread pudding at Motown Cafe was wonderful. I was sad to see them close. I always check the dessert portion of the menu 1st. If it looks good, I'll find an entree I can eat. Has anyone tried the apple cobbler?

I had Bubba's After the Storm Bucket of Boat Trash in October last year, found it very salty, probably over salted but I think that problem is an 'American' trait?

If you eat at Bubba Gumps, I insist you try their coleslaw (comes as a side to many dishes). So delicious-crispy and sweet. Mmm...

Also, their drinks (alcoholic and virgin) are very good. Not sure if it's the same in Florida (I've been to the one in NY--pretty much the same menu), but you get to keep these cool cups with many of the drinks.

The apple cobbler is okay. Big portions, but just okay.

The real winner (although not a dessert) was the shrimp over linguine with a lime cream sauce that they took off the menu!!! :confused3

Yes, they have the "you keep it" glass for certain drinks. I am looking at one right now among my collection on top of the cabinet!
