I'm a parenthetical Washingtonian. :) Across the street (literally, the street is the "border") from Tacoma.
Ah, Forest Grove...how I do adore our stays at Grand Lodge...twas our wedding night hotel, we love it so much, after we married at Cornelius Pass Roadhouse in Hillsboro. Had our almost 3 month old along on our 1st anniversary trip to Portland (to pick up wedding album)...:rolleyes1
Ah, Eugene...we have old friends there, old hippie friends. OK they were my mom's friends from SF, then they moved there (I hear you now, "no, people from San Francisco moved up to Eugene? that never happens!" :rotfl: ) for a much better lifestyle, and now I'm mega-jealous b/c DH gets scared and has hesitated to move down there... Went to the BEST backyard wedding there two Decembers ago...sigh.
Ah Portland, love it too!
And Boring, well, I don't know anything about Boring. I'm sure I'd love it, too.

As you can see from my signature..I'm in Auburn, between Seattle and Tacoma.
I was born in Longview, WA, but I used to live in Vancouver. (DH and I got married there nearly 35 years ago) DH was born here in Auburn.
When I was a teen, I lived in Eugene...and yes, I knew quite a few real hippies...one of my boyfriend's parents were professors at the college and I remember him taking me to a campus party where they had all the phsycadelic stuff going around on the walls as the music played.
I never really got into that kind of lifestyle though. I was more into the whole Herman's Hermits and Paul Revere & the Raiders kind of music scene...not the "one pill makes you smaller, and one pill makes you tall" stuff. :rotfl:
I grew up in a household where we all gathered around the tv on Sunday nights to watch Ed Sullivan, Bonanza and of course, The Wonderful World of Disney. Going to the drive-in with my folks to see Disney movies like the Parent Trap, Absent Minded Professor, and Swiss Family Robinson are some of my favorite childhood memories. popcorn::

Went to college in WA and decided to stay. We currently live Kirkland, WA (about 10 miles east of Seattle) and have been here for 5 years. Prior to that, we lived in Tukwila and First Hill area of downtown Seattle. Dh was born in UT but raised in Federal Way, WA. We love the Northwest and can't see living elsewhere. Wait. I work in Portland, OR. Disney 1999 you have a longer commute that I do. I’m only 12 mile from work and it can take an hour to get home…..

Yay! I loved CPR for our wedding. Got some junky service last time we were there, and couldn't help but feel like "our" place was going downhill, and that we deserved special attention b/c we had paid them thousands of dollars. :rotfl:
When we were first checking out McMenamins for the wedding, we of course figured we'd do Edgefield. But got a bad coordinator, then had to call things off and start over, so instead of a red, Asian-themed wedding (hubby is Korean) wedding in late Sept at Edgefield, we got a pink and light green, mid-August of the next year, wedding at CPR! When we very first looked at CPR is was early spring BEFORE they had done anything to their property...looking at muddy earth as the events person said "and over there, we WILL HAVE" xyz...just coudln't risk it. As it turned out, by August of '03 it was SO incredible!
We think of moving down there, pretty much every time I call in my payment on my VW lease, b/c their offices in Hillsboro is where I end up calling! :upsidedow

I agree on the service problems. The last time I was there, the waitress got cork in the wine bottle, then didn't even offer to uncork a new one. She just poured the wine anyway! I can't believe we actually had to say something. At what they charge there, they should have better service! The grounds around the home are unbelievably beautiful in the summer. OREGON and IDAHO andWASHINGTON!
I grew up in Lake Oswego, Oregon (Go Lakers! :cheer2: ), and after college (The University of Idaho - go Vandals! :cheer2: ) and a few years in California (Newport Beach:cool2: ), ended up in Snohomish, WA (actually the address is Everett, but I like Snohomish better!).
Can't beat the area - it is so pretty up here in the NW! Rain doesn't bother me, because I always have a trip to DL or WDW in the works to get me through the dreary days!
bouncy54...you said that you liked Paul Revere - a friend of mine from college married either his daughter or one of *The Raiders* daughters! They have played at the Epcot Flower and Garden show (or maybe it was the F & W festival), and I always mean to track them down to see if my friend is still married!
Fun to see so many people from our area - no one from the NW on the WDW boards!
Will anyone be at DL the last week of August this year?

The grounds around the home are unbelievably beautiful in the summer. I bet your wedding was gorgeous!!
It was lovely, but that weekend in '03 was sickeningly hot. Everyone while we were booking said "oh that's going to be a beautiful time, 80 degrees, best time to have an outdoor wedding". And it was 100 that day. With me in a poofy silk satin dress. AUGH. I didn't wear nylons, not even the snazzy stockings (with real garter belt) I'd bought for the occasion.
Though I had the gown fitted to my shape wearing a tight corset, by the evening I had sweated off so much weight, it was loose even without the corset.
But it was gorgeous!

Hi, fellow Eugeneans!
Also, had to laugh about the above quote. I love the McMenamin's properties, and have stayed at Edgefield and the Kennedy School several times. Not so in love with their food (except the Black Rabbit at Edgefield). And man, their service is almost consistently bad. A friend of mine here in Eugene jokes that McMenamins employs one band of roving waiters, that go from restaurant to restaurant in a pack. You'll sit at one of their restaurants FOREVER with horrible service, and then all the sudden someone will ask you eight times if you need more water.

May 7-12th, we can't wait! We stocked up on supplies earlier in the year when the Character Warehouse had a local store opened in Jantzen Beach Center. It was sooo much fun to get such great deals!
Hello to all of the PNW neighbors - I just can't wait for sun!:)

It's a beautiful morning up here, north of Seattle :cool2: !
Kingsdaughter - thanks for the info about the Disney outlet! We usually get them down in Totem Lake, so I hadn't heard about this one!
Think that I will head up to Burlington this morning and check it out!

So....GP, ANOTHER trip to the outlet store?... What did you get me?....LOL
And yes, you can take all the credit for letting people know about it. You were thoughtful to post it here!:) I hope you get some great stuff again today!
NannyPooh, I don't think the outlet store will go back to Totem Lake again. The manager said they did really poorly there and will never go back. I know I went there one night and he said they were closing early due to lack of customers. I think because of where it is located, they didn't get a lot of people like they do in Burlington. When they were there last Fall (right before Totem Lake), he said they wouldn't be back until next Fall. But they must've done pretty well, because they decided to come back now!:yay:

I loaded up at the outlet store! Got a Tinkerbell Jacket for $28 reg $78.:yay: I spent a little over $200 and they said at $200 you qualify for 10% off future purchases and gave me the discount for my current purchase. At $250 you qualify for 15% off. You can use it at the CA outlet store also. I also picked up $5 t-shirts at the Disney Store at Alderwood Mall. Found something for everyone, but it was a little picked over. Happy Shopping!

Wow -
What a morning at the Disney outlet!
Kingsdaughter - I was there from about 10:30 to 11:30! I had a blast and loaded up on all sorts of things!
Hitch-hiking ghosts, Pirates posters plus a pirate ship, and a couple of sweatshirts! They had lots of pins available also! My boys are all about Stitch, Pirates and the Haunted Mansion, so it was a bonanza!
Thanks again for the tip!
Disneyfan4ever54 - The Totem Lake store was always empty! The lady at Burlington today was really nice - it is just as easy for me to go up north, as to battle the 405 south to Kirkland! I actually thought that they had a better selection today than in years before! She did say that if they are open past May13, they will have a whole new shipment of stuff coming in! Just might qualify for a second trip back!

Nannypooh were you the lady who had all those bags :rotfl: needed a 2nd trip to the car I think. I remember hearing the lady that worked there talking about they will have more things if the are opened past the 13th. I was in there wearing one of my DL t-shirts. I was tempted to go up to the lady the woman was talking to & asked are you Nannypooh :rotfl: but I thought I better not if it isn't she might think I am a nut lol.I was there from about 10:45 - 11:45. That is so funny.I am glad you found a lot of Disney treasures.
Enjoy

Kingsdaughter -
That was probably me! I had a green shirt on, and I had that big pirate ship with me, and did have to make two trips to the car! The *worker* gal is taking her family to WDW, and the gal behind me (long hair, orange-ish shirt) had been to all Disneys (except one), so we were all talking about the differences, etc. It was fun! I didn't see your email about you going up there until AFTER I got home, or I would have run around asking everyone if they were you!
We have friends visiting from Mexico in May, and I wanted to get something fun for their 10 year old daughter - I thought the outlet would be the perfect place to do that! Got home, and realized that I had totally forgotten about her...so I just MIGHT need to go back :woohoo:

Greetings from Coeur d'Alene Idaho! :wave2:
I saw a couple of other Vandals on this thread so I thought I'd chime in. My DS 7 and I are the big Disney fans. DH is a good sport and goes with us . . .
Grew up in Anaheim and was a DL cast member more than 25 years ago -- hoping to go back for my retirement job!
It's nice to see so many NW folks on these boards.

Hi lisah0711!
My dad grew up in Cd'A, and they moved back there when I was at UIdaho! We lived down on E. Lakeshore on Sanders Beach - parents sold their house about 10 years ago, and it is one of those ones that has been rebuilt - NOT the same house that my gram built, and was in our family for a milliion years!
My mom lives in Hayden now. I lived in Cd'A after college, and worked at the old Henry's restaurant!
When were you at Idaho? DH and I were there from 1980-85! :cheer2:

The Totem Lake Mall is going to be redeveloped anyway, they're waiting for the last few leases to expire. I'm eager to hear who the new tenants will be!

I wondered what they were going to do with the mall because it was so empty. Yes, it will be intersting to see what tenants go in there. I live in Arlington and don't get that way very often, so please keep us posted.:)

Salem here!
My heart almost jumped out of my chest when you mentioned a Disney Outlet here - but Bend. Phooey. We couldn't even keep our Disney Store here - I can't imagine the outlet would ever come through!
Nice to see so many Northwesterners here. When we were in DL for Spring Break 2006 we were all so easy to spot, in Orange or Green sweatshirts, shorts, and sandals in the pouring rain!!
We're driving down next month June 17 - 21. I can't wait!!!

Hi NannyPooh! As you know, Coeur d'Alene is a great place to live although there have been many changes over the years. The nice thing about being bigger now is that we don't have to go to Spokane to get things anymore like we used to!
I was at Idaho for law school from 89 through 91. I'm hoping my DS 7 will go there some day.
My husband and I have a Mom and Pop law firm in Hayden -- real estate law. Your Mom probably told you that Henry's was turned into a real estate office.
Sounds like you had quite a haul at the Disney Outlet! It's nice to know that there are some many DISers in the NW!

It's always good to see other Monarchs on here!
DH and I are going on our first "alone" trip in November. :cheer2:
