We are getting so excited to call ms on May 16. I've read a couple of threads that seems like everyone else is too. So, I thought I would start a thread to see who else is excited about AKV.

I am so out of touch.......its been a while since Ive planned a trip home. AKV are already booking (well as of May)?? I am planning on going in second week of September and was going to try for BCV or WLV, but maybe I will try AKV instead. Are they only accepting ressies from AKV owners, or can other DVC resort owners book. I am sorry if this has been post a million times already, I have a 5 month old, so its been a while since Ive been on these boards. Thanks for you patience!!!!!!!!!!

I'll be calling on May 16th for Nov.15th-18th.

I only recently decided to purchase at AKV. I already have ressies at BWV for Nov.18th-22nd, but I want to try out AKV while we're on vacation so I squeezed in a stay between our cruise and BWV.

As far as booking times, here is the quote from the DVC website:

"When can Members and Guests begin making reservations?

Members with an Ownership Interest at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas can begin making reservations at the Vacation Homes in Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas located at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge on May 16, 2007, based on limited availability. All other Disney Vacation Club Members can begin making reservations at these Vacation Homes on June 6, 2007, based on limited availability. It has not yet been determined when rental reservations will begin."

So unless you have ownership at AKV, you can't book until 6/6/07.

I already have the VWL booked for 11/3-11/10. Debating if I want to try to change to AKV in June. I just love my VWL and don't know if I want to give it up. I was also thinking about a split stay just in case I couldn't handle being away from VWL :rotfl:

As long as you call on May 16th, at 9AM on the nose, I don't see why you wouldn't have the same chances as anyone else wanting the same dates!

I'll be calling on May 16! For Sept 1 - 4 (or 5 not sure yet) a 1 bedroom savanna view (hoping conciege.... is that going to be available then?). Already have ressies for OKW studio Aug 30 -Sept 1. Also debating doing a short trip on July 2 to AKV as I wanted to stay right when they first opened them. That would have to be either a studio or 2 bedroom as that is what I was told will be all that is open on July 2 for bookings. Guess I better make up my mind quick if I want the July 2, as booking time is coming quick! :woohoo:

Just to save you some grief (and maybe a bit of frustration and disappointment)...

Tomorrow is the 15th.

The 16th is Wednesday.

got my ressie as well, not sure if it's as busy as it has been for the last hour... but for those still trying to get through... DW and I were were on hold on both the 800 number and the 407 number, and the 800 number picked up long before the 407 number...


That's to say we got through on the 407 number and were on hold for about 15-20 minutes before getting through on the 800 number, but were able to speak to MS on the 800 number after about 10 minutes of being on hold... and the 407 number was still on hold

You have to be an AKV owner to begin booking today. I BELIEVE that it is June 6 for non AKV owners.

Got through this morning at 8am CST on the 407 #, waited about 12 min, and someone answered, then was told we have no AKV points, I freaked, and then thought about it. Its in the next use year, as we get them dec. 1, 2007. So she looks there, and finds them, goes to book me a 1bdrm for 12-31/1-4, and a studio for 12/29-12/31. She comes back and puts me hold, theres a glitch in the system, and no one can book a room!!! She comes back about 40min later, and says she has both reservations SV. I say great, and am in shock, never expected to get both, thought I'd get the 1 bdrm, and have to book the studio somewhere else!!! So my morning was great! Hope everyone else gets the ressies they need!:cool1:

Actually, we've got a time share exchange in the works for then, but if anything doesn't come through by mid-June, I'm going to bail on that and rent DVC from a fellow DISer Sun-Thu of that week. It's making me crazy not knowing where I'll be.

I started dialing at 8:59 EDT, and DH and I dialed continuously from our cell phones for 45 minutes without getting anything but a busy signal. I fianlly got through at around 10:10. The MS CM made an error and charged my account the wrong number of points, including BORROWING those points. :scared1: She said she would hand correct it, but not to expect it to be corrected for a few days. I'm in Disney, so I'll wait and check when we get home. Didn't get the vaule studio for the first night, but did get a standard studio for that night. Then we have a Savanna view 1 bedroom for the rest of the trip. I think it helped that our trip is planned for early March.

Got my ressie yesterday for Sept. 1 - 5 in a 1 bedroom savana view. Concierge not available yet. Thinking of adding a couple more days to it though at the end. But might wait until June 6 and use my other points. Only problem is that is the last day of my next disney trip.... we will be checking out that day. But since it is the day booking opens for everyone else there I better call right on the dot.... or before. When I called yesterday.... wasn't able to call until about 1:30pm I had no wait at all and was told there was still about 20 1 bedroom savana view rooms still available for my dates. I was shocked. Thought it was going to book up alot faster.

Though I wasn't able to book for July 2 at AKV. Was told that you have to have a contract that says your unit is available July 2. But I bought my first AKV contract on the 2nd day they were selling them to just the current DVC members. I asked her if anyone does have the July 2 opening on thier contract and she said just a select few. Wish I had been aware of this before hand when buying my contract I would have asked for the earliest opening date contract.

The new building isn't slated to open until sometime in '09 (and then in phases).

They'll likely start taking ressies for the new building about 11 months (for AKV owners) from the time they estimate the building to open...or not until sometime in '08.
