I've heard they have a nightly camp fire with Chip n dale, is that true?

Yes. There is the campfire, canoeing, walking, biking, etc. Lots to do! I enjoy the wagon ride.

there are stables you can visit, there was a petting area, but it's been closed the last few times we visited.

The petting zoo is open, but very much scaled back from what it once was.

The outdoor movie after the Chip 'n Dale campfire (where you can roast marshmellows/make s'mores is great). Every night they play a Disney/kid friendly movie on the big screen outdoors. There are benches or bleachers to sit on or...we made it great by bringing a blanket and pillows to lay on - like a drive in movie only much much better! Don't forget the marina where you can rent water sprites (small speedboats). The Hoop-Dee-Doo is right there at Pioneer Hall for a night of entertainment (albeit corny). There are also playgrounds all over the place for the younger kids. Have fun!
