I use Netscape...not sure how much it is now but when I signed up like 3 years ago it was $6.95/month.

when we went last time we used a dial up company that you paid by the minute for and they provided us with a free number to dial, but I cannot for the life of me remember who it is and we don't have that laptop anymore so I don't have any of the settings???

OK then, from a different angle, does anyone use a laptop when staying in a villa? if so how do you connect to the net?

Hi,
Although I haven't used them myself I found these on the net:

http://www.budgetdialup.com/internet-provider-for-travelers.htm

http://www.mytravelaccess.com/

I notice the first one offers a "free" trial not sure if there are any catches though.

Mick.

Are you sure that your villa doesn't have internet access? We are here at Windsor Hills and we just brought our laptop, plugged it in and away it went.
Internet access is free.

Hi there. If your home has internet access then there will be a yellow plug for you to connect your laptop to and it will be a wireless connection which connects automatically. Just check if your home has internet access and you will be fine.

I stayed in Windsor Hills a couple years ago and the villa didn't have broadband :( less that two weeks to go and I am hoping the townhouse in Windsor Hills we are staying in this time will have.

For dial-up in US I use BAMnet www.bamnet.com most villa's have free local calls and then dial-up is 1 cent a minute (or less) easy to use and their support has been excellent when I was getting it ready before I went. They also have a 1-800 number for 6.5 cents a minute as well.

In the past I have also used a phone card to dial-up back to the UK as sometimes calls to the UK can be quite cheap. There is a $7 unlimited phone card which allows unlimited 7 day calls to a UK landline. I have used this to access Demon internet dial-up in the UK as the villa had free local and national US calls.

Steve
