Hi I called CRO and they told me a special discount popped up when they were searching resorts

They gave me a rate of $1435 all taxes incl for 2 adults and 1 child at Port Orleans Riverside Std room with park hopper tickets

Is this a good deal?

July 31-August 7th 2007

Thanks

Um, guess it depends on how many nights and when you're going (regular, value, or peak season).

Please tell us how many nights you are staying. I would love to hear about a discount at POR.

Rack rate for mods at regular season for standard w/tax: $186

$186 x 7 nights = $1302
$186 x 8 nights = $1488

Plus they are including your hopper tickets so it looks like a good deal to me.

Looks like a good deal to me.

You're checking in during summer rate time ($175/night plus tax)

$175 x 7 = $1225 plus tax
8 day MYW w/ hopper for 2A, 1C = $717

Total = $1942 plus tax

Have a great trip!!

It sure looks like a deal. How old is the child? Did you get 7 day tickets? I would be so excited to hear CRO say that there is a deal! Did you take it?

I just called CRO and the CM didn't find any discount. Maybe there has to be a 7 night booking. I am only able to afford 4 nights. With 4 day base passes and DDP for 4 night at POR for one adult and one child I got a rate of $1248.79. The dates are Aug 10- 14. The CM was pleasant but kept talking about my getting a good deal. I know this isn't really a deal just the rack rate.

I got it!!!!

We had booked at CSR waterview for 9 nights with tickets with park hopper and waterpark.

We switched to POR standard, added the dining like we planned on, and saved 739.00!!!

Thank you for cluing me in to this pop-up special!!! I would not have known it without the Dis!

Got to change my signature!

Tiggrsbride,

What did you say to the CM? I asked about a deal that someone told me about online. The CM didn't know anything about it. He started booking my dates and quoting prices like I was getting a deal but it was just rack rate. Do you think that you have to have a seven night stay? Maybe I'll call again in the morning.

I called CRO and went in to the new ressie queue. When my dates were put in, the reservationist said, you already have a ressie. I said I want to try to save some money by downgrading to a standard at CSR. I spoke with her about hoping for free dining and missing it, due to our early Aug. dates. I said that I was looking for some kind of discount. She said sorry there wasn't any. She was so nice! I told her that it wasn't her fault I couldn't get a deal. She tried other mods for us, no dice. I asked about values. She said that something popped up on her screen with dining at POR. :woohoo: She played around for a bit and came up with the price. It beat our rack rates by a bunch (downgrade from waterview to standard, plus discount for 9 nights approx $740!) We planned on adding dining anyhow, so I jumped on it. I haven't heard about pop-up discounts in quite a long time, so I am very pleased. The discount amounts to 4 1/2 days of free dining-I'll take it!!!

Good luck to you tomorrow!

Thanks for your reply Tiggrsbride!!! So I'll just have to be more persistent. Your CM sounded like my CM, totally unaware that there was anything. Does this price include dining? It's for the room, MYW park-hoppers and dining? That sounds great. The OP seems to be paying for all that for 7 nights, what I am paying for 4 nights!!! If it includes dining that is.

Hi again!

I have a standard room at POR for 9 nights, 10 days of tickets with park hoppers and water parks, 9 days of dining for a family of 4. (Both kids are adults in Disney's eyes!) Total cost w/tax is 3541. Dates are 8/5-8/14. It is a far better discount than I ever thought that I could get, once free dining passed my timeframe over.

I wish you luck in your try tomorrow!!!

Thanks again for the information. Congratulations on getting that great discount!!! I know all of us that can't go during free dining were kind of bummed out. It's nice that you were able to get this. Sounds like a great deal. I will be more persistent tommorrow. Maybe start by asking if there are any discounts, not by saying I read something online. Anyway congratulations to you and I hope all goes well for me also. I just love POR!!!
Enjoy!!:goodvibes

:thumbsup2 That is a great deal! We got 10 days of tickets w/ water feature and park hopper, 10 days of free dining, and 10 nights at the POR for our family of 5 (3 adults and 2 children) for $3,130. We must be paying top dollar for room and tickets.

Is this only at POR and is this only for certain dates??? We are supposed to go to POFQ in September but I'll take POR for a discount.

Called again and talked to CM Neil. I was up front about seeing that others had gotten a discount. Maybe that is were I am going wrong but I don't want to say one thing and then later they see that I have a reservation already. I made the reservation last night with the CM I spoke to then. If I don't get a better discount I may switch it over to AAA or cancel altogether.

I don't know what I am doing wrong but **** said that there is no discount showing up. It can be in the system for one person and then it isn't there anymore. He said maybe if someone is upgrading from a value they are offered an upgrade deal. But Tiggrsbride downgraded from CSR waterview to POR standard. I was even put on hold while he talked to someone else. Oh well. I have to go to a defensive driving class all day and then work. I'll check this thread when I get home tonight to see if anyone else got anything. I don't know what I am doing that there isn't a discount offered to me.

We already have reservations at POR for 7/4 - 7/14 and I just called to check about discounts. I was told that that "the company does not allow" the CM's to discuss discounts. I would have to do the research myself and then call back. When I asked where I could do the research I was told that the information is sometimes available in the Travel Section of local papers or on the Disney website. She also recommended that I check at Mousesavers.com. Should I call again?

Although I read this board constantly, this is the first time I've posted!

Thanks!

I didn't have a code or anything. I read the first post in this thread, then called CRO. They didn't tell me about any specific codes or pin numbers, the CM said that a screen popped up. I didn't mention that others had gotten the discount, just that I was hoping for one.

This isn't something that I have heard of happening in quite a while. I feel really lucky to have gotten it, and extremely grateful to the OP. I told my husband that reading the boards would pay off some day, and it sure did! I was agonizing over switching to a value, since I couldn't justify paying the full rack rate for my entire package. Although we wanted to try Coronado, the savings is so worth it!

I checked my ressie online last night, and it reflected the change and pricing. Dining isnn't showing yet.

I hope that you all experience the same success, or that a great code comes out for the time frame you are travelling! Good luck!!!

we are paying barely over 3000 for 3 adults 9 day hopper with water park and dining.

So I have to ask, CRO is central reservations office and usually only handles room only ressies, but it sounds like you all are getting packages ? Are you sure you are not calling WDTC ? (Walt Disney Travel Co)

BTW, the CM I spoke with said they are filling those rooms during that time. In a way that is good news (for selfish reasons) the parks have been rather managable during this time of year. He said some people are offered the discount while others are not - its a pop up.

I called and to my surprise I was offered the resort upgrade. I'm currently booked at All Stars Movies (preferred room - AAA rate) and I purchased my tickets already - total for me was about $1240 which includes my room and park hopper tickets. I was quoted $1347 for my same 6 nights stay (August 6-12) and that included park hoppers - In Port Orleans. Although it would be great to Upgrade to a Moderate Resort - Port Orleans just doesn't interest me. Should I take a chance - or stick with what I've got?

That is a tough call. I do love Port Orleans. It is a beautiful resort. We stayed there before. We have also had great trips to All-Star Movies and Pop.

The difference between a moderate and a value is amazing, IMO. I really enjoy the values, but the pool area and the grounds are really special in a moderate. The slide and hot tubs (I know, in August, the hot tubs aren't that appealing) are great. The sit-down restaurant doesn't sway me one way or the other. The food is decent, but I'd rather eat elsewhere. The rooms are a bit larger, and they have a luggage seat and peg rack, which helps for storage. The grounds are really spectacular. The values are all about Disney fun, the moderates feel resort-like.

Whatever you decide, you will be at Disney!!!

I am happy to hear that others are getting the deal. When I did the Disney math on the room discount, it was over 55% off! I'll take it!

Good luck and let us know your decision!

DBF and I will be at POR beginning Aug 15-we've been going back and forth about downgrading to a value since we missed out on free dining (and we'd rather have the dining plan than have a fancier resort)-I'm going to call tomorrow and see what happens! Wish me luck!:cheer2:

I'm still hoping for an AP rate at a deluxe, but if this is offered to me, I'll take it. I love POR, anyway.

If you think you have a really good deal with Disney in a Value or Moderate, and there are no general public offers, please review your reservation carefully. For the person who posted about the great deal with dining and older kids (age 10+) the price quoted is awfully close to the rate for two adults and two children (age 3-9) with dining.

Call back to ascertain that you booked what you think you booked and ask for a reservation confirmation where you see your trip details in writing. Might save some problems upon check in.

There has been miscommunication over the phone more than once, and there could be a difference with the age of a child or a ticket/package component.

The pop up deals aren't meant for everyone, just like the special codes attached to certain people's names on the CRO computer aren't for the general public. You can call and ask them to check and see if you have any discounts or codes, but most of the time the answer is going to be no. It is one of the ways Disney does its marketing and there must be a rhyme and reason as to how they select people, but I don't know it.

It is one of those Disney mysteries.

Good luck. :wizard:

I did recheck my confirmation online at Disney. Everything is perfect. I have the original price of 4280.16 and my new ressie at 3541.68. Using conventional math, not my fuzzy Disney math, I come up with a savings of 739.08. It was such an unexpected treat to get the discount from the pop-up code! I hope that Disney continues offering special pricing for it's guests. Good luck to everyone looking for their discounts!

We are staying at POR 2 rooms and i am using my aaa discount which is 15% for each room. I tried to call back for the extra 2% savings but could not get it for 6-15-07 to 6-23-07. tried adding tickets for 4 days w/ hopping. Maybe you have to have dining on it also. I think I would be better off using my aaa since i have to rooms and 4 people.

Called just now and no magic for me! Can't get a discount to save my life for my upcoming trip except at Hard Rock. They must like their passholders as I have $144 a night!

Disney, can't get AAA or a pop up & no Ap for my dates. I told the CM that had read on line about people getting these "POP up offers" and was told that much on the boards is 'erroneous'. Ok, whatever.

Those pop ups are amazing. I called one time to inquire about availability and I got a pop up. It gave me Poly for cheaper than POR. WHAT! I was so excited. But I couldn't go in the end. It was a great deal!:wizard:
