Hey Everybody! My name is Kim (kimszath), and with me will be DH Mike and DS Luke, who will be 9 at time of cruising. We're also doing the Western Caribbean on December 1-8, 2007. We cruised on the Magic a few years ago and it has been TOO long a break! Look forward to meeting and chatting with all of you!

Hello! I'm Pat, and I just changed our cruise from June 15th to June 8th! My two DD's are older (20 and 15 by the time we cruise). This will be our second cruise on the Wonder. The first one was back in 2002, and I spent the three days sick as a dog (from food poisoning the night before we boarded) so this is my "do over" cruise (with a bonus stop at CC!). DH & I and the two girls are looking forward to cruising again!!!:)

Welcome!

This will be our 2nd Wonder cruise as well. I am telling you the truth when I say I AM COUNTING THE DAYS!! Our last cruise was incredible (better even than our 7-day on the Magic) so we're really looking forward to two stops at CC.

Hi, we are getting closer so we need to start getting this thread hoppin!!:cool1:

I am going to be having a marathon phone call with my sister to discuss all of the CC excursions. We want to do a lot of them. When my family and I sail, we usually just get off CC for a couple of hours. We typically don't do excurisons. But since this is their first time, we want to do a lot.

We were going to schedule Palo on pirate night, but my nieces really wanted to eat in the restaurant for Pirate's night. We chose the second night, so we wouldn't miss eating in any of the 3 restaurants.

We may cancel Brunch, haven't decided if we really want to do it. But I figure I will book it, then cancel if we decide we would rather spend the time at the beach. ( I would rather do brunch, but the kids outnumber us!)

What excursions did everyone book???

Just finished booking Dolphin encounter for the girls, and the scuba dive for DH (then noticed, we won't see him all day! We'll be gone in the morning, he'll be out in the afternoon!) Then, on the second day at CC, they're all going parasailing. I'll watch and video from the beach (I'm too afraid of heights to go up!).

No Palo for us, decided we wanted to experience everything at each restaurant. We'll wait for our seven night cruise (maybe next year - fingers crossed) to do that!

Congrats to everyone who has booked what they wanted so far!!!:yay:

Disneylovers-

My husband is going to do the scuba dive too!! He is going diving in a few weeks to get a dive in since it has been almost two years since he last went and needs to get that in to be able to go. The boys and I will probably just hang out on the boat or go over to the Atlantis.

I spoke to soon. The scuba excursion booked up before I got reservations. He still is hoping for a cancellation. Do they have any kind of wait list or cancellation list or do I need to just keep checking to see if a spot is available? If by chance your husband decides not to go, let me know so that I can watch for that spot.

Wow!!! I'm surprised it filled up so quickly!!! I'm not sure about a wait list. DH did this on our first cruise six years ago, and it wasn't even full then! Sorry, no chance he'll cancel. Besides Divequest at Epcot, this is the only chance he gets to dive, and he's really looking forward to it!!! Keep checking, there may be cancellations.

P.S., sorry it took me so long to respond, I never received the email notification that there were replies to this post!! :confused3 It's been a busy week, but it looks like I better check on this more often!!!!

Since we're DVC members, we're staying at one of our "homes" - SSR the night before, and using Disney's bus to take us to the port. We won't arrive as soon as I'd like, but it will be fun to start our vacation off in true Disney style!:)

Hi Tammy, welcome!!! Since you're new to cruising, you can book your excursions at the 75 day mark (or, March 25th if I'm figuring things correctly). Once you cruise, you become a member of the Castaway Club, which has a number of "perks", one being, on any future cruise you take, you can book excursions at the 90 day mark.:)

misseulalie
03-29-2008, 07:44 PM
Don't know.... if I knew we could do a Dis board gift exchange for the kids, I would.

(This is where we get a count of the Dis board kids and ages and then we buy little trinkets (cute pencils, candy, etc) and surprise the kids with little gifts in the fish extenders.

When we were on the Transatlantic, we had so many people participate, the kids got multiple goodie bags everyday!!!

Who else????

Basically we post our kids first names and ages. (also if your child has an allergy such as peanuts or chocolate.) Then once we compile the amount of kids, we spread out the "givers" by day. For example, if we have 12 Dis'ers giving treats, we spread them out over the 4 days. 3 Dis'ers treats per day.

Again, nothing too expensive. The dollar store has great little gifts, Oriental Trading, clearance bins...
Most treat bags included pencils, chocolate coins, mini erasers, fun pens, stickers, glow sticks, fruit snacks, notepads, bubbles, etc...)

03-31-2008, 07:44 AM
Great!!

I will put a deadline of...let's say of May 15th. That way, we well have time to shop and make sure we get enough gifts. Depending of the amount of kids,I will make a spreadsheet of names and ages of the kids and email it to those wanting to participate in giving treats. I will also need you to PM me your stateroom number so we know where to drop the goodies!! If you can also include an email address in your PM, so I can get you the spreedsheet.

If you don't want to make or buy a fish extender, I have seen people use dollar store tote bags (small size) WDW plastic bags, or anything else that can hold stuff!

Also, like the above poster, if you don't have kids and still want to participate, great!! Just let me know!!

Please, no pressure for anyone to participate. I know a lot of people have so much on their plates already, don't worry about it!!

misseulalie

I am with you. I can't wait for this cruise...only 38 days, 11 hours and 16 minutes until the plane takes off!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

My thoughts are with your family and especially Nicholas. My family is really involved with the Ride for Kids every year. In fact, my parents have been the ride coordinators for Pittsburgh the last few years. If you're not familiar with it, the Ride for Kids is a motorcycle ride that takes place in cities across the country. The money we raise goes to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Last year in Pittsburgh, we raised $64,000. It's a lot of fun for a great cause. We usually have four or five current patients or survivors and their families join us for the ride. The looks on those kids faces is priceless!!!

Looks forward to meeting you and your family.

VegasPixie

But the cruise is more than a week out so you can never tell. One week ago today the forecast for Orlando was Thunderstorms; I know, because I checked, hoping that the shuttle launch might be delayed a week until we get there.

Actually, our first DCL cruise last year we had rain every day, and to be honest, it really didn't put a single damper on our cruise. We hung out on CC anyways (and they even ordered everyone off the beach while the lightening was bad; DH and I got acquainted with a couple of Konk Koolers during the storm :) ).

Then again, we live in Southern Nevada where it is sun, sun, sun (and heat!) so I think tend to embrace any rain we can experience!

I feel betting knowing I'm not the only one checking the weather forecast! When I saw it Thursday, I got really bummed out! DH keeps telling me we have a week yet, things could change. I hope so! I want to come back with a tan this time! (the last cruise we went on it was overcast the whole time - I want to see Castaway Cay with sunshine!).

So, who's started to pack??:rotfl:

Oh, we won't be able to do a Dis meet in the terminal. We're taking Disney Transport from SSR, and our pick up time is something like 12:30, so we'll be rushing a bit. But hopefully, we can meet somewhere!

It was totally rainy and miserable when we were at Castaway Cay back in 2006. We were ridiculously lucky last year - bright, beautiful, sunny...a total dream! Well, all I can say is that I'm hoping we get at least one great day at Castaway *crossing my fingers AND toes*. Only a few days to go!

Well, I guess we can meet by the cafe/kid's check-in area. I will be wearing my lanyard from the Med. cruise. (It is a thin red laynard. I don't like the thick strappy one they give you...)
Our 4 girls will be wearing white t-shirts that they are going to make. They are using fabric markers to create their own shirts.
How about 11:00-11:30ish?

We are packed and ready to go. Just a few shirts hanging in the closet so they don't wrinkle. My girls have been packed since last year...:rolleyes1

I'm hoping to be there by 11, so I'll try to find you. Not sure what we'll be wearing - I haven't thought that far ahead! It's been so cold here this spring that I'm having trouble even figuring out what summer clothes to pack. I think today was only the 4th or 5th day it's been warm enough to wear shorts!

We leave in a day and a half, and we are waaaaay excited!!! Gotta go finish packing!!

We'll definitely be at the terminal looking for all of the DISers! Unfortunately, I am too disorganized to even be able to visualize what I might be wearing. But I will look for a red lanyard, and, uh, ear muffs (?) :) I will be the mom trying to corral excited three boys!!

Can't wait!!!

If you are participating in the kid's gift, let's not set a date to bring the gifts, just whenever you feel like it. Since the group is small...

We will be over by the cafe/kid's checkin around 11:00am, We will be a group of 3 women and 4 screaming girls all wearing white homemade t-shirts (kids, not us..)

Hey!!

We just got back today. We did a back to back. We really appreciated the gifts for the kids and they enjoyed finding goodies in our bag.

I was rather peeved about Pirate night being on the second night instead of the third night, but other than that, had a great cruise!!!

So, when anyone hears "It's not unusual" are they going to do the Happy Dance!!!

We got back late Saturday night. We stayed at the Beach Club Villas for a few days after the cruise.

Thanks so much to misseualie for organizing the gift exchange. We had so much fun putting the bags together and hope everyone enjoyed getting them. Unfortunately, the only family I got to meet was VegasPixie, but we had fun talking to them.

We also booked another cruise while onboard...just barely...we literally were walking through the Atrium on our way off the ship, when DJ said..."Let's go talk to them about another cruise." We ended up picking a "dummy" date in December 2009 as a place holder. It will most likely be sometime in the spring of 2010, but we get to keep all of the incentives.

Thanks for cruising with us!! Now to really start planning for our October WDW trip!!

We got back last night, we spent a few days in Vero Beach (even drove up to the Port on Saturday to see if we could see the shuttle land. Unfortunately, we were looking in the wrong direction, so we missed it, but we DID hear the sonic booms!). Port looked SO empty with out the ship there!

Sorry we didn't get to meet anyone. We took Disney's bus service, so we didn't get to the port until 2:00. We had just enough time to drop our stuff in our rooms, head up for a bite to eat, then down for the drill. DH didn't want to deal with driving, he wanted to relax, so we did it his way. (but I must say, there weren't any lines to check in, or have our picture taken).

While onboard, we booked another cruise:banana: We'll be on the seven day Magic to Tortola 6/20! I'm SO excited. (gotta change my countdown!). The day the cruise ends will be my younger DD's 16th birthday, we're thinking a trip to the Magic Kingdom will be a great treat. When her older sister turned 16, we had to go to the DMV that morning for her license, but since that won't be an issue for the younger one (she'll never be able to get her driver's license) she'll probably be quite happy with a trip to WDW!

Magiclover41, thanks so much for the treat bag, that was so sweet of you (the girls enjoyed the candy).

Luv2boys, did your DH get to dive in Nassau? My DH told me they had a huge (for them) group, and that they were filling extra spots with names off the waiting list. His dive buddy was one of those from the wait list. Wouldn't it have been a hoot if they dove together???

My gang really enjoyed the parasailing! They're already starting to "talk me into" going up with them next cruise. We'll see!

We were a little bummed about Pirate night being on the second night, but mostly DH was upset, because he didn't want to drink alcohol before the dive. We actually dressed up for pirate night, and he went as "Mr. Gibbs" (complete with the flask, which, unfortunately, only had water and coke in it!)

Wasn't Clayton a stitch?! We met him the first night in the one shop, and got to talking to him. I asked him how long he's been cruise director, and he said two months I think it was. He used to be a DJ and deck entertainer. We told him we're pretty sure we have him on video from our cruise 6 years ago, and he said we probably do! We saw him again a couple nights later, and he was talking to us again. He made things so much fun. I mentioned in the car last night, we'll never be able to hear "It's not Unusual" without thinking of that crazy dance! Fun memories.:)

But now, back to reality (and laundry!)

HA HA HA!!! We met up with Clayton at Wavebands during the juggler's show. I really liked how down-to-earth he was! This weekend, we were listening to an 'oldies' station and they played "It's Not Unusual" and both DH and I laughed (aaahhhh, memories :goodvibes ).

He DID get to dive...thank goodness because he has not been happy with me since I told him it was booked hours after opening up to reservations. We were like the 2nd or 3rd family on the ship and that was the first stop we made...to be put on the waitlist. They said they would call the company about adding another boat since they had 7 on the waitlist and we thought that was what happened when it opened up. Husband said that they just put everyone on the same boat and it made diving very, very crowded. I'll asking him. My husband had his own dive stuff (the only one) and is pretty bald, so maybe your husband will remember and his name is Jesse.

My kids have eaten all their candy, my little bag with our names and cruise date on it is hanging on my doorknob in my office (looking at it now:goodvibes) and Jared slept with and is still sleeping with the little dragon whose name as slipped me at the moment.

luv2boys,

I'm so glad that Jared liked his Mushu. I was having a tough time figuring out what to get for the bags since we had such a wide age range.

We were at the show and your Jesse had us cracking up. We were way back in a booth along the wall with the other two couples from our dining table. We had a blast!!

My DH was John, he had his mask and fins, and he has a bald spot. He said something about they usually only have 4 or 5 divers, this time they had, I think he said 19!! But being true Disney, I guess they wanted to try to accomidate everyone! I'll ask my DH if he remembers Jesse!

I wanted to crawl under the table, but Jesse really ate it up. what is really funny is that there was a couple at the table with us that we had never seen before and then ran into them later in the cruise and THEN we stayed at the Boardwalk for a couple days and ran into them at the Big River Grille.

We had a great time too! DS loved all his gifts. When he got the Goofy, he looked at me and asked what I told all of you about him! It did take us a minute to figure out what the glow sticks were. At first we thought they were some kind of candy but I then I figured it out. We missed most of the pirate party because we didn't finish dinner until 10:30! Our servers were wonderful but very slow that night. We finally had to ask them to stop doing puzzles with the kids and serve dessert so we could get out of there.

Oh and I loved Clayton too! He is hilarious! I was actually in the shower one afternoon when he came on the intercom and I did the dance right there in the shower, just like he said.

Well, back to the real world. At least my laundry is finally done!

Luv2boys, Just asked DH, he was your DH's dive buddy for the second dive. Apparently, my DH wanted to buddy with him for the first dive, but got someone else (who apparently ran out of air during the dive!), but got to dive with him on the second one! Too bad we didn't get to meet too!

It was great to meet you (and keep bumping into you) too! And thanks to everyone for the wonderful gifts! My boys loved them, and I loved visiting the different parts of the ship to deliver ours.

We also picked a "dummy" cruise at the last minute, like about 10 minutes before midnight on Wednesday night after we finished packing and all. I'd love to believe we could do it (a 7-night Western Carribean next August) but we more likely will move it to 2010. We really want to spend 2 weeks at WDW next year (the most time we've ever spent was 4 days).

I was sooooo bummed because we didn't get a Double Dip pin! I didn't want to make any purchases on CC until the end of the day when we were leaving; unfortunately they were sold out!! (Although the gal in the shop actually told me that there were "no more" of those pins, as in EVER, and told me I needed to go to Ebay to purchase one; that seemed kind of strange to me since the DD itinerary just got started for the summer. Oh well. :( )

Toy Story was fun; I actually liked Disney Dreams a little better (it was my first time seeing it, as we skipped it our last cruise).

After the cruise we were at AKV for 2 nights, which was spectacular (our first visit)! We got to do the Hoop-De-Doo Review, Star Wars Weekends, and my very favorite, EPCOT! And we also got to ride Midway Mania (100 minute wait, but nobody minded, I think we needed the rest)! We got home late Saturday night but I'm just now re-adjusted back to PST!

In all, it was an amazing vacation! I cannot wait to board another Disney ship again! Thank YOU ALL for being part of making the cruise so special! :)

I have an extra DD pin that I would love to share with you. Just send me a PM with a snail mail address and I'll get it out to you. I actually got off the ship early on Wednesday morning with that specific mission in mind. We had a 9:30 brunch at Palo, so I waited in line to be one of the first off so I could run to the shop, get a few pins, mail my postcards and get back for brunch. Kinda crazy, but it was fun.

How funny that you saw us at EPCOT! Back on the ship after we kept bumping into you my husband was like, I hope they don't think we're following them or something! :) Yes, we had a great time at EPCOT, and I was so glad we went to EPCOT because our original plan was to go to Animal Kingdom but the kids, to my surprise, insisted on EPCOT.

Hi Everyone!
We just got home last night, spent 9 nights in Orlando after the cruise. I hope all of you had as great a time as we did on the cruise...sounds like you did!
Shane and Jenna wanted me to thank all of you for the gifts, they really had a great time with that and they had a lot of fun helping me deliver ours.
Sorry we didn't get to meet up with everyone, we had some shuttle issues getting to the port, and didn't get there when we had hoped.

HA! A few times when we were stuck in a slow moving attraction line we would break out into the "Happy Dance" and laugh at the reactions of the folks around us.

What was your favorite part of your trip?
My kids said it was snorkeling at Castaway Cay, but my favorite was getting up before the rest, getting a cup of coffee and sitting on the deck and watching the sun rise every morning.
