Are the Minnie events for women only or can men run them, too?

Yup, men can run Minnie too, they just aren't eligible for any prizes. And I think the race shirts are tailored to women (I hope, anyway)!

Are there typically enough men running in them or would DH feel really out of place?

I saw a pic of the medal. Wow, that is super cute! :thumbsup2

I have serious medal envy. I ran the inaugural race last year and all I got was a giant 15K with a nearly unrecogniable Minnie on it. But, as for your question... Last year I only saw a handful of guys. You could check the race results, but I'm guessing less than 10 -- maybe less than 5. Who knows what this year will bring. The race is marketed to women and provided (last year) a women's tech racing shirt, and as stated previously, there are no prizes for men, so I wouldn't expect there to be many. Having said that, there were guys last year running to support their significant (female) others, so it's pretty much up to your DH.

Shan, are you gonna be at the minnie this year? DH offered to run it with me, but we have no one to watch the kiddos.

No, Becky. But, I might look into it for next year. I'm still a newbie. ;) I'm just hoping I can get thru this program I'm on. :rotfl:

No way DH would run it, then if like only 10 guys did it last year.

My DH ran the 5K at the Minnie with me last year. There weren't LOTS of guys, but he certainly wasn't the only one. I don't think he felt terribly out of place!

Good luck Becky!

Yes, men can participate in the Minnie. They get a finisher's medal, but that's it. How can the guys not want to participate when there is all that eye candy running by?? :lmao: Anne

I'm going to be there with my DW. We are doing the 5K & 15K. I will be walking with her and supporting her. She gets the good deal as she gets 2 shirts and I don't get any(I ordered a small for her). The 5K shirt is a uni sex shirt(per Disney) so I will get one while she gets 3. The medals look cool.

I have to get lots of pics and give my first report from a males perspective.

Looking forward to the Jellyrolls meet on Sun as first time DW and I will have gone there. Always stay at BWV but never been inside. What time does the meet start?

Robert--If I'm remembering correctly the Jellyrolls meet is around 8ish. Cam posted a meet schedule on the Minnie thread

Oh, and my DH is running the 15K with me. I had to twist his arm a little;) But like anne said, I told him, "Just think of all the cuties you can draft off of!":lmao:

There seemed to be a few guys running. I would say it was closer to 250 or so. I do remember the overall winner was female and beat the guy by just a few seconds.

Uh oh, the 5K shirt is unisex? I may wind up with a shirt that is too big. Think they would let me swap out a large for a medium when I pick up my packet at the expo?
