Need Opinions -- Which would you choose?

I just need to get some opinions b/c I am totally stumped. I can't decide whether to do the RFTT or the TOT in Oct. We're currently booked for early Oct. to do the RFTT (booked long ago before TOT came up). I had figured that maybe we couldn't get into Fort Wilderness in late Oct. (we have to stay there b/c we have the motorhome and we have to bring the dog) but lo and behold, we could get in. I had thought (hoped?) that the decision would be made for me by lack of accommodations, but no such luck.

So now I'm stumped. The distance isn't a problem for either race. And I've never done RFTT before. I'm just wondering which would likely be better and what the crowds, etc. at the parks might be like over Halloween. I've been in early Oct. before, but never over Halloween. Is it really crowded? What might our chances be of getting into MNSSHP that week (that was something else we really wanted to do). Any thoughts are appreciated.

I can't comment on the crowds or MNSSHP, but I did RFTT last year. It was fun, but I would most definitely choose ToT over RFTT. RFTT had no characters that I saw, just CM dressed as chefs. There was food before the race, but who can really eat then? The food afterwards was nice though, but you get coupons for each station and wait in line, it's not a help yourself. We got an insulated lunch bag instead of a race t-shirt. I was disappointed at first, but I actually use that bag every day for my lunch.

The RFTT medal WAS super cute, but I bet the medal for ToT is just as cool, plus you get the glow in the dark race shirt, AND you get to go on the rides at MGM at the after party. I also think it would be so fun to race in a costume. I'm within driving distance of Disney but I'm probably not going to make the trip for RFTT this year.

I have never done RFTT, but ToT is an inaugural race, it is at night, you get a glow in the dark tech shirt, and the theming is just so cool. I have registered for ToT. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I did RFTT last year and it was nice being that it was my first race at Disney. I would definitely try the ToT, though.

Well, in the interest of hedging my bets I've gone ahead and snagged the campsite at Fort Wilderness. It'll cost more to do the TOT because I can't get the AAA rate for that week, which I have on my early Oct. reservation. Plus the race fee is more for the TOT than RFTT (I know, there's an after party included, but it's still more). These aren't great sums of money, but it may still impact the decision. We'll have to see. I just hope TOT doesn't fill up in the next week or so while I sort out my decisions and talk to DH! Hopefully they'll update capacity on the website so I can see if I need to hurry up.

Still interested in hearing everyones opinions, though. :)
