Okay, I have my supplies and I was going to sit down tonight and try to work on my first page, at least get a feel for it, but I can't decide how to organize the book. I hope it's okay to post this since it's not a Disney scrapbook. I'm making a scrapbook for my husband primarily for his Army career. Here are my options (although I'm open to other suggestions):

1. scrap only his 3 deployments (Bosnia, Korea, Iraq)
2. scrap chronologically starting when he went active duty, including time in between deployments.
3. same as #2, but with personal pages including some of his interests, but if I did that I don't know exactly where they would fit in. Maybe at the end?

Any help would be appreciated.

I chose chronological, but I'm anal retentive like that...it just sounds like the best idea to me.

How long is his career? Do you have a lot of pics form each deployment? If not then I would say chronological. Did he have any ceremonies, service medals etc...

I don't think I would add personal interests, away from his career, because I don't think it would flow. What about just a military album, adding in his deployments and any work related functions, and leave the time he was home for a family album. I know when DH was in the Navy we did do things with our boat and crew when they were home so those kinds of things I would throw in.

I chose chronological, but then I'm still working on pages for 2001 :rotfl2: I think it does depend on how long and how many pictures you have for each section of his career - to use Disney trips as an example, I stuck my photos in an ordinary album in chronological order, with bits from my trip reports on each page, but when I came to scrap the photos I did pages for each topic (park, character meal etc.) because I felt it worked better. Spread the photos out and see what you think works best.

I think it depends on what you want the scrapbook to be in the end. Is it a "me" book about his career, or maybe a "this is your life" book? What do you want him to do with the book once you are done? Different approaches for different types of books.

Not sure on your organizing, but a big THANKS to your DH! My BIL is heading to Korea in Jan. He was in Iraq already and my sis likes the thought of Korea better.
