SUPPOSEDLY - they're supposed to complete it. When is the big question. I don't know why they stopped working on it - I can't imagine that they ran out of money:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: . But it really IS an eyesore, especially walking along the "jogging trail" and along the bridge. We'll all find out together!!:thumbsup2

Glad you enjoyed Pop!! The Legendary Years is really haunted looking, isn't it? What a waste of lovely scenery. IMO if they weren't going to finish it, why build it in the first place! It definitely detracts from the Classic Years.
I have heard from a number of sources that constructions was halted after Sept 11. The guest numbers dropped and the numbers didn't warrant another resort.

Hmmm - that would make sense. However, it appears that the resorts and parks are at peak capacity now, so I wonder if Disney will revisit completing the resort.

I've just taken a look at all 84 pages and the photos are great. We were there just before Christmas 2005 and we found the staff very helpful and pleasant.
Many thanlks to everyone who has taken the time to post their photos.

Another rumour was that they were contemplating using it for more family suites.

The story is they stopped working on it when 9/11 happened. All of Pop was stopped at that point and then they resumed the Classic years a while later, but never finished the legendary years. A rumor on here is that a law suit with the contractor is keeping them from finishing right now, but I have no clue if that is actually true or not.

Aha, thanks so much for the repsponses.
The addition of those early 1900 years would be awesome. I hope they do finish it. The photos sure do look like it is a major eyesore.

My thoughts are that perhaps the grounds should at least be maintained - thereby giving it an upkept appearance even though the resort itself is in a state of limbo. All the dead trees and overgrown grasses and bushes really make it look like a mess. Oh, well, we'll all find out together what the grand outcome will be!!

Another rumour was that they were contemplating using it for more family suites.
Wouldn't it be great if they would actually do that? I know that I would book a family suite at POP every year. Right now, we'd rather just do 2 rooms at POP than the AS family suite - even tho they look great and have the kitchenette, which would make things easier. We just have come to love POP that much. But now if we could get a family suite at POP...well, that would be the best! Hey, Disney...are you listening? ;)

This could be at least part of it. I have stayed at Pop 4 times and have yet to see it booked solid. Matter of fact, they have upgraded us to preferred rooms 3 of the 4 times for free. :thumbsup2
Maybe some day the 1900's will be completed....

For all you POP experts....I have a ressie June 29 for 14 nights, which I'm soooo excited about my DH thinks I've totally lost it:rotfl: anyway I have a question.....
We are a family of 4, me, dh, dd17, and dd9, will we want to hurt each other after being shoehorned into that room for 2 weeks? I've been to ASMo with 1 kid but every time we all go we have stayed at a mod. This time in order to stay for 2 weeks it has to be POP. I'm really concerned about the size of the room and yes we will be spending some time there. This trip has several days planned for just relaxing at the pool and even on our park days we go back to the room in the afternoon for a break.
My other concern is the amount of people that could potentially be at the resort........2800 rooms = thousands and thousands of people :scared1: Has anyone been there during the first 2 weeks of July? This is freaking me out even more than the size of the room.

In 2005, we were there for a week just after July 4th. It was busy but not so much that we really noticed. I wouldn't worry about it, just enoy ourself.

I went to Home depot..LOL...and yes, Mickey paint swatches.:) I peeled them and glued them back to back. Just make sure you use something heavy to hold them down so they wont curl.
Then I hole putch them..and used white thread (long), knotted then wrapped the thread around the mickey head so the thread wouldn't get knotted.
Just for get to pack scotch tape to hang them..also I took kids scissors.

P.S. - Your son is a doll!! ;)
P.P.S - We chose pop because my son is hyperlexic (as well?) and when he saw all the numbers and letters at pop he just about lost it...
Thank you! We are going back to Pop next month, its a hyperlexic's dream!! We are requesting 90's so he can play on the keyboard!

Just got back. It's so hard to beleive it's over! About one year ago I returned from my first trip and started this thread. And I was lucky enough to go the same week again this year! I took a lot more pictures this year, but still didn't get it all either!
So here I will start with our room window. We got a 60's first floor right across from the baby pool. We were the second door down from Ballo and Mowgli. It was a wonderful location!

Hi Goofy22, in order to post pictures you need to sign up with a photo sharing service. Many of us here use Photobucket. It is free to sign up and you can store many photos on there. You then upload your photos to your Photobucket account. You can create folders to organize your photos as well. So for example if you want to upload your 2006 trip you can create a folder called Disney 2006. Then from within that folder you can create other folders such as Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Pop Century, etc, etc. You then go into your folder and then use the upload tools to upload your pictures from your computer. Once your pictures are uploaded you will see each photo. Beside or underneath the photo will be an IMG link. You need to copy this link and paste it into your post here in the POP Photo thread. When you paste the link in you can do a preview on your post to see if it is working correctly. You should see your picture.
One thing to note when uploading your pictures is to size them appropriately so they that they aren't too big to view in the post. There are options when you upload or in your preferences where you can do this. I think a good size is 640 x 480.
I hope that I've explained it well enough. If not keep asking questions!

Thank you so much. No you don't need a special camera. I used a Rebel Xti. But just about any camera will do if you have the program to do it. Canon comes with a program called zoombrowser. And in it has a photostitch program. You just take a series of pictures in a row, each with a little of the last picture in it. I take them so they are verticle. Then you load them into the program and it will stitch them together. It isn't always perfect, but it does a really good job. T odo the best job you should use a tropod and manual settings. But you it can be done without them. I didn't use a tripod, but did use manual setting and manual focus.

Great pics!!
We just returned from a week on the Magic with a couple of days at Pop afterward, and I think it might be our new favorite resort. What a fun place!! I got lots of pics, but thought I would share these three. They're of the abandoned "Legendary Years" resort across the lake, and wow was it creepy to see. They built this beautiful, elegant bridge from the Classic Years, and it just dead-ends at nothing. It is such a contrast, then, to see dead trees and overgrown weeds around brown husks of buildings... especially when steps behind me it was so green and lush and tropical. And it was so quiet... It was downright spooky.

I think someone had asked to get a picture of the hairwrap stand.
Here it is, just to the left as you walk out of Classic Hall looking at the Hippy Dippy pool. The hairwrap is the one on the leftt and the tattoe spot is on the right. If weather was bad, I saw the hairwrap girl set up near Everything Pop in the lobby.

Here is the laundry room in the 60's section. It is connected to the Petals bar too.

And here is the baby pool, not in use, which is rare. LOL!

Pop is one of those places when I'm having a bad week, I think of my vacation there and it puts a smile on my face.
I guess you can say it's my happy place.
That is why when people say negative things about this place, I get like an over-protective father. It makes me feel like I'm on :cloud9:

The only bad think about being a Disney addict, is wishing a little bit of your life away because you can't wait to be there again.
Every year, I swear I won't do this, but here I am addicted to the boards and counting the days until August. :happytv:

Okay, I'm stumped. What/where is this? :)
I was on the 3rd floor and the building kind of goes out a bit next to the juke box, so I took it from that spot. I though it was a neat angle. It is also a back side view.
I also posted another where there is only a small portion showing of the back side of the juke box. That was from the third floor behind the juke box, I beleive by the elevators.

Looks to me like "pre-invasion" (unpacked) and "post-invasion" views of the vanity area to the bedroom. ;)

It is a shower curtain and shower rod that we brought from home. It was invaluable to us. It allowed DH privacy from the DD's and the same for them. We'll definitely be taking one this time too. We got that idea from someone here on the boards.

haha - That shower curtains seems to match the room so well that I couldnt even tell!! And I LOOKED to see if it was brought from home because on our last trip I did almost the same thing except that I brought those 3M hooky things instead of a tension rod!!
Thanks!!!

I dont know how long the rod is but I do know that a regular sized shower curtain reaches to each side with plenty of extra!!

How long is the tension rod for the privacy curtain?
Hey there, EnglishRose! Obviously I'm not sure what size she used, but I do have measurements on Post #1 of the FAQ thread that should help you. :)

We just used a regular rod for a baththub shower. I just measured the one in our bathroom and it is about 60 inches. You do have to unscrew out a lot further, but it works fine. We put one end on the wall over where the clothes hang and the other went to the door jamb to that area. It worked perfect for us. Hope this information helps.

I plan to do one of these for each decade. It combines the existing Pop room map (from http://www.haysllc.com/Disneyworld/PopCenturyRoomLayout.jpg), preferred room information, and an overhead view from the Orlando Interactive mapping site:

Hey, we just got back yesterday too. :sad2: Great picture. Where were you? We were in the 80s room 7111 which was a great room for standard. I did not get to take nearly enough pictures of Pop because of the rain, and we were only there 5 nights and they flew by. Just means it's time to plan another trip. I hope to post a few once I get more organized.

Hey! We were in 7342 for 7 nights until April 6th! I actually liked the 50's better now that we have done both, but my son LOVED the keyboard on the ground! He called it "letters and numbers everywhere".

Ha! We were in 7243....talk about time flying by...how about that rain on Sunday....and the big rainstorm on Saturday around 5:30. We were in the Indiana Jones ride when it began and got drenched coming out.
Then back to the POP for cheesecake and a Philly wrap!http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn299/eliot966/DSC01733.jpg

too funny, my kids ran up and down the keyboard so many times....It was a walk to the 80's building but not too bad.
Loved the Roger Rabitt now if i could only get a shirt...
