Go for it. I know what you mean, because I looked at it about every day. I wanted to buy the colander, since it's big and it's a practical souvenir, but I didn't this time. It's on my list to get some trip in the future, though. Kristi had gotten me a couple of the utensils on a trip she went on with her mom and brother a while back. It was the perfect gift for me, since I really enjoy cooking.

I bought the plates shaped like Mickey's head, gloves, body and feet. The lady at POP gift shop told me, if you get one head, one body, two gloves and two feet you can organize it on your table like a giant Mickey! We bought the placemats too! Couldn't resist!

Thats pretty rude. First off this is a picture thread, not a comment thread. And everyone here is either thinking of going there or been there and sharing their pictures. If you don't like it..... fine! But alot of people do. And it is great theming for kids. To me this is a "Disney" resort because you never lose the feeling even in your hotel room. I would like to try others as well in the future, but I realize each resort is different for different reasons, and styles.

No, not "tacky"....unique & FUN! It's a great little resort! That's why there are soooo many different resorts at Disney. There's something for everybody!

We pick the value resorts because the kids love them. For me Disney is really all about the kids. I am extremely comfy at the values. I feel my kids can have fun and be themselves without being told to stop all of the time.:yay:

I got to say, we are in a bit of a predicament here at my house because of the free dining being offered for next year. Disney are not offering the Pop at this time and even though it is cheaper to stay at a mod I don't want to! Crazy eh? But we just LOVE THE POP :love:! I am pretty sure we are going to hold out and either see if they offer it with free dining in the future, because call me mental but I can't imagine staying at a mod instead. A deluxe yeah, hehe :goodvibes , I'm not that crazy! But otherwise, it's the Pop for us!

Keep them coming! We'll be at POP for the first time this Sept! DD is going to love it! We stayed at POR for the first time in May and I have a feeling she is going to be in shock over the difference in the resorts decor (in a good way).

Don't get me wrong, we loved POR. POP is definitely better themed for the kiddies from looking at all these great pictures.

The trip was great although I have to say we were spoiled by the Poly. Don't fear though, POP is still cool.

Thanks. Also thanks, WeatherbySwann. That's cool that you have that same magazine. That's some nice Disney history. I enjoy looking at these each time I am at Pop. Each time I seem to notice something new. My daughter's favorite box is the one with the Cabbage Patch Kid. She had four of those when she was little. She called them "Pabbage Catch", though! That's what we call them even today when we see them, just to tease her. Now, she has a one year old daughter, and I'm thinking it may be time for me to buy her her first Pabbage Catch Kid!

Thanks, everyone, for all the nice pictures. We were on the ground floor this time, and I never bothered to go up on higher floors to get different angles. One could spend hours just taking pictures of all these resorts. There is so much awesome decor, the pictures can be taken at different angles, the sky/lighting can make two pictures of the same thing look completely different, etc. I think it would be nice to schedule just a photography trip! Any excuse for a trip to Disney, right? "Hey, I forgot to take a picture of that. I have to go back!!!"

Yup, as long as we have a decent reason to go back, the family won't bust us! ;)

I didn't see it in any of those pics of the shadowboxes, but in January we stayed at POP and in a shadowbox was a photo of the Cleaver family from the old 60's show Leave it to Beaver. This cracked us up - every night my family watches that show on TV Land for fun and we were thrilled to see it at POP!!!!! I know we're just weird that way. Our nightly routine is Little House on the Prarie, The Muppet Show, and Leave it to Beaver. But hey, as long as it's not Spongebob or Hannah Montana, I'm good.

Just set the DVR for Leave it to Beaver and watch it tomorrow. Sure it's cheesy, but it's cheesily funny! :hippie:

I took a photo of that same shawdow box in May and a few days after my trip my friend gave me the Walt Disney World: The first decade book. The book that is open under it I purchased (and still have on my first trip in the 70's.

I'm back from 10 nights at POR and was really missing POP on that trip. I was so happy that I already have a trip to POP booked for 11/8 to 11/13. In Declandad's tradition I think I'll start a countdown. I'm starting my very busy season at work so I don't know if I can post everyday but I'll try.

64 days-here is something I won't see when I go back. The wand on Spaceship was gone when we there in August. This photo was taken from the lake side of the Tramp building in the 50's. The staircase is actually in the jukebox building.

I know what you mean. It is so peaceful when no one is around and the colors really 'pop'. Every morning I got a cup of coffee and took a walk around the grounds before the rest of the resort woke up.

I'm back from 10 nights at POR and was really missing POP on that trip. I was so happy that I already have a trip to POP booked for 11/8 to 11/13. It was the first DVD I ever got. The Disney Store had a special when they released Snow White-if you preordered you got another DVD for free so I got the Jungle Book. AND....I didn't even own a DVD player.:rotfl: I wonder if the rerelease with have enough extras to make it worth the purchase.

When we were at All Star Movies during Hurricane Jeanne in Sept. '04, we were in the Mighty Ducks section and they had these, only they were ice skates. By the time the hurricane came through, the skates were all gone off the buildings! Everything else remained, though.

Wow that must have been scary. Were they laying around the grounds?

I didn't see where they ended up. They weren't in sight, the winds were really hard. You could still see the outlines of the skates on the buildings, but the skates themselves weren't there anymore. It was pretty scary, but we'd figure if we HAD to suffer a hurricane, we wouldn't want to be anywhere other than at Disney. They handled the situation VERY well. Technically no one was allowed inside the main food court by Florida law or something (we were told to remain in our tiny room for 18 hours - yeah, right!) but the food and stuff was open after the big part of the storm had passed through. Mickey, Pluto, Donald, and Goofy were also on hand for meet n greets in the lobby. They were the best character bunch I've ever seen, really into their part - especially Donald and Goofy. They were fighting left and right.

The Fantasia pool was so flooded, you couldn't tell where the pool was! There was water everywhere! Thankfully, the parks opened the next day and it was as if nothing had happened at all - all the CMs were on hand, the parks were spotless, every building standing and open. And lucky for us, our Cinderella Castle breakfast reservations weren't cancelled!!!!

Oooh, you'll love Pop Century! It's a lot more spacious (resort wise, not room wise) compared to the All Stars, and the lake is a very nice touch. From the lake there are views of Tower of Terror, the Swan & Dolphin, and Spaceship Earth. The food court is a lot bigger, too. The biggest advantage is that you also won't have to share the buses with another resort, like they do at All Stars!

This was our first trip to Pop Century as well. We did really like it, but will likely go back to ASMo next time.
We were in the 60's, room 4446 and we faced the lake. From our entire balcony, we watched the fireworks at MGM one night. It was totally cool!

Do you travel with Pooh? I generally make the kids bring smaller friends but this was just my oldest DD & I and it was her birthday. How could I say Pooh had to stay home?

The kids all brought smaller friends on our last trip but then you run the risk of loosing them in the sheets.:scared1: At least the big friends are easy to find.

I've never stayed at AKL. You would have to give up queen size beds, balcony, fridge, coffee pot, and table service (gotta love Boma!), oh and shorter walks to the bus at the parks.

I do really love Pop. Its a fun place and I really love the frozen coke in the refill mug. I used to stay at Poly but finally decided I just couldn't pay the price anymore.


When in February were you going? Will it be at a very busy time? I've never stayed a Pop during a very busy time.

Just a REMINDER to all posting here. PLEASE resize the pictures to a smaller version. One that fits on the screen with out having to scroll over to the side. It is harder to see for one, and for those with dial up (like me) it takes FOREVER to load.

We like it. Some people have reported getting dry cheesecake, but we never have. It has a red velvet cake base, and it's just food colored cheesecake all swirled around on top. It's just neat because it goes with the Pop theming. I've made one at home, and it was a big hit.

8-11-07 Shortly after we checked in we got a phone call that we were the FAMILY OF THE DAY! We recieved this special turndown service that evening along with a certificate, pop rubix cube, magnetic photo frame... (That is all I can remember right now.)

We were so excited! We hadn't won anything as a part of the YOMD (Not that we were expecting anything... It ws just an unexpected surprise!). It was like we won a million dollars... The rest of the week joked around about it. Like when the secuity guards would ask us for our ID at the other resorts, we would say don't you know who we are? We are the Pop Century Family of the Day! :cloud9: They still asked to see our ID... :confused3 I guess our fame didn't spread quite as quickly as we thought it would...
