Nice pics. But, where is the big crowd everyone's been talking about?


Thanks! Those pics were taken around 10:15 in the morning, so most people were either in the parks or just waking up and in the food court eating.

We were there from Apr. 29-May 6th and there were no enormous crowds.
The crowds were normal for this time of year - it was great!

Yeah, this is the "middle season". Meaning Spring Breaks are pretty much over and school is not out for the summer yet.

The paid subscription sites said that the parks lst weeks in may had crowd levels at 8 and 9. Kinda makes me wonder about spending my money on information that is no correct in any manner.

I know what you mean, the crowds were no where near 8 and 9.

I think it's hard for them to predict crowd levels right now, because levels are lower than usual for every time of year. Then, Disney keeps throwing out some pretty amazing deals to get people in the parks, which makes the crowd levels even more difficult to predict.

just throwingmy two cents in. went to see my physiotherapist yesterday who was there over easter and she said the park hit max capacity and shut down cus the crowd was so large!

Correct. Over Easter, the parks were unusually busy. It was a combination of the Easter Holiday, Spring Breaks, and the promos that WDW was offering on resort rooms. It has now slowed back to normal.

im not sure if they do have enough or not. when dh and i went in 05 we were asked by our ta if we wanted two doubles or a king sized bed. we sleep in a queen at home and knew a double'd be awful so we asked for king. so perhaps the kingsized are automatically handicapped?

coincidently enough im trying to figure out how to book a closer room this year. i dont specifaically need a handicapped room, but our dd who will be four by the time we visit has cp, and wears an eye patch so she has depth perception problems and has hard times walking long distacnes. our ta suggested paying for a preferrred room altho i dont think we should have to pay extra to be closer for i guess what you would call "medical reasons". but then i dont want to take a handicapped room(plus theres four of us and we woudlnt fit in it!).

when we went in 05 we payed for a prefered room to be closer to the pool- joke! we were in fanatasia but the back part of it and it was still a hike- and that was obvioulsy a handicapped room. if i had payed extra for a handicapped room for that reason id want my money back!


You should ask these questions over at the groovier pop thread in the resorts section. I do know closer rooms cost more, I also know there is a number to call about medical needs and rooms. Not sure if you can get that room cheaper or not, but might be worth looking into. I think Pop has about half of there king size rooms for handicapp, and the other half not. I could be wrong on percentages, but I do know they have alot that are not handicapped as well. Not sure if htey are any closer or not. But the first page of that thread has alot of info and maps of the layout and where rooms fall.

Now lets get back to pictures. I'm enjoying all the new ones! :thumbsup2

We are considering POP for our first value ever next Jan. If you have stayed at POR, can you tell me if the beds at POP are the same as POR or harder or softer? DH has back problems and this is his main concern. Thanks

The beds at POR are a lot better than the ones at POP :lmao:The beds at POP are a little firmer that the beds at POR but still comfortable

im loving looking at everyone's pop pics! they are incredible! were currently deciding between pop and asmovies. does anyone have a pic of the bathrooms? i know i know weird but i like to see what the restrooms look like. when we stayed at movies in 05 i think we were in a wheelchair accessible one- there was no tub- shower and toilet ran together- very messy. is this how it is with all value resorts?


We've only stayed @ asmovies(last year) this year we are booked @ pop. We go in September so the crowds aren't as bad. But the main reason we chose pop was the buses. @ movies you are sharing buses with ALL the allstar resorts and movies is at the end of the line. Now granted the crowds weren't too bad but there were instances where the buses would get filled up before getting to movies and we would have to wait quite a while. But the hotel was clean, lots of fun stuff, can't complain about anything to do with the hotel itself.

very good point! i had forgotten that pop had its own bus. i remember staying at movies in 05 and sometimes waiting forever to get a bus. more often than not wed take another then hop on the monorail to get to where we wanted. im hoping for pop when we go, but i think it was full last week.

HI! I see that we are more than likely going to be at POp at the same time basically! What are you dates? I think you are right before me! My dates are the 24th thru Sept 3rd!!

Yeah, we are there Aug 19h-25th. We are actually in the same fridge swap - am leaving it for you on the morning of the 24th!! 89 days to go!

Ok! I am bumping this thread, hoping that someone will post recent pics to help me get my disney fix! I have started getting prepared for my July trip and want to see the pics! They always help me get excited!!! I wish someone had recent pics of the gift shop?

Love the new pics! I'm hoping for this section you just posted when we go in August! We were in 50's right near the bowling pin pool and loved now we want to try for the 60's or 70's but prefer 60's:thumbsup2

This will be our 3rd straight year going to Pop and we love it! My wife and I will be leaving 9/16 and staying till 9/30. Friends and family will be staying with us at different points in time so it will be alot of fun! Last year is was hot and humid but we found that going back o Pop inthe early afternoon and resting helped alot. We can't wait!:banana:

I was going to try for the 80's section. We're doing a girls only trip and my sister is a big 80's nut. I think she would get a kick out of it. Is this section pretty good?

I'm a big fan of the 80's section. We had a very quiet room on the third floor near an elevator, so it was easy to get to the pool and the parking lot. The Computer pool tends to be less crowded than the Hippy Dippy pool in the 60's. We enjoyed our stay so much that we've requested the 80's section for our upcoming stay.

If my memory serves me right, I beleive it is the front side of the 50's. (meaning in front of Pop resort, but the 50's side.) I think it took my right by the luggage area. I was actually talking on the phone while shooting these. LOL!

Okay - wow, I've been down that path at least twice. It's amazing what you don't notice or what you miss.

Recently I saw a photo from Canada pavillion that i didn't recognize. I love that area of Epcot but still missed seeing that view.

Anyways, thanks for letting me know where it that pic was taken from. When I'm there in Dec. I'm going to check it out to see what other things I've walked right past.

Actually, that is my DS and DDIL, DD and Ex-DBF. You know how it is, mom doesn't get any many pictures, too busy taking them. I plan on fixing that this trip. Also, my DD is taking her college roommate this time (it will be her first trip to the world so we are really excited.)

Totally agree! It looks so realistic!

I'm really looking forward to my stay in Pop, just come on here to get some motivation to mark exams (I took on an additional contract to get more money to pay for the holiday). Cheers guys, I'm feeling ready for hours more marking now :surfweb:

That's what happened to me in Sept 2007, I hardly ever got the chance to take any pictures but in Sept 2008, it only rained 2 days of our 15 day trip :) it was awesome!

But rain, no rain... it's still Disney!!! :banana:

You can also change the size that they are loading in at too. I think it's under the browse button and change it website size. Big ones are just so hard to see. But I do love that pic. I resize all mine before I load them, but try the 640 by 480 setting to uplaod them at. That should be better. Do one and see how it works for you.

This one is interesting, there are legs with no upper body, LOL:rotfl2:One of the unfortunate side effects of panaoramic photos I'm afraid. The PC tends to remove foreground detail whenver possible. My theory is that it's proof that when you stay too long in the parks, your legs detach themselves and return to the resort for a rest.

I love the panoramics! I have taken some too, but never of the lobby...on my list for next trip. Thanks. I had a ton of fun with them. Oddly enough, the inside ones seemed to work out better than the outdoor.

We have requested the same thing ! DD really liks the 60's but poolside is all preferred and we are trying to keep costs down!!!

Hi guys! New to writing here so just bare with me. Just wanted to say I look at everyones new photos everyday and cannot wait to visit pop at the end of October for 8 days.

Ok so my question is on the 50s buildings I believe it is (near the juke box atleast) I keep seeing photos of the different things on the guard rails and was wondering what the box shaped objects were ..I swear they look like a pack of ciggarettes haha I could be wrong though. :confused3

So if anyone knows please let me know this has been bothering me for months now.

I brought a piece of this cheesecake 900 miles back home to my mother from our last trip. DD talked about it and she had never had a piece so it made the drive back home with us. She loved it!

It should reset at the begging of you monthly cycle. (that doesnt soundright. LOL:lmao:)
I had that problem too as my TR had a ton of views, so I upgraded. I did one of the promotions to upgrade...I joined the Disney movie club.

I've been a little leary since booking it, value and all that as we normally stay at mods, but this looks pretty cool! (Booked it as it is our 2nd trip this year, and with free dining, we just could not beat the price)!

Anyway, great pics all, I'm going to keep browsing from no till the day we leave, LOL.

we stayed at POP in 07 prior to purchasing DVC, all out of points this year so we are returning to POP in Dec..couldnt beat the deal!

It's a great place for kids...having the lake and the walkway is nice...great food court and gift shop.

I will be honest....I would prefer a covered waiting area for the buses..especially when you have little ones in strollers....my DD12 still misses the food court at Pop!

I was actually looking at a mod stay , but then realized I will save the extra bucks for other things!

Well we booked our stay. Dec6-13. We stayed at POP last year and was not very happy with our stay. But i did give it another try this past may and was very happy this time. So we decided to stay there again.:thumbsup2:santa:

We just booked our one night after Vero Beach on the way to MCO at POP!

What building is it that sees the EPCOT ball from the 4th Floor? That is awesome!

Although, I have to admit seeing the entrance sign from the 80's building would bee a cool one too!

I know you can definitely see it from 50's and 60's lakeview and more than likely 70's lakeview! If you walk to the end of Century Gap Bridge you can see it really well especially if you have a camera with a ZOOM lense! When do you get to POP??? We arrive the 26th and we're having DIS Meets/Pool Parties come check out our Group PTR the name is: WDW Grand Gathering PTR 8/22-9/05! Who else will be there? We've booked preferred room, just not sure where those are yet. Haven't stayed @ Pop yet.

Oh say it isn't so. We always stay close to the computer pool. We leave in November so I hope all is fine by then.

Great pictures! :thumbsup2 There was a guy last week asking if Pop sold bagels. I'll have to go find it and let him know that in fact they do sell bagels. Can't wait for my trip to Pop.

I won Teacher of the Year at my work and they are sending me and my family to WDW for 7n 8 days. We are staying at POP in the perferred location. Does anyone have any pics of this area. We havent been there in about 5 years or so. Is perferred closer to the main building how far is the walk?

Congratulations! What a great gift! The preferred section is closer to the main building, yes. Here's a link to a map of the preferred sections.

I've stayed preferred each time, and I love how close it is to the main building. If you don't like poolside, there are courtyard views that are close and quieter.
