If you are still sleepy after the long drive, but the kids are ready to go you can rest at the Goofy Pop Jets.

Good Heavens! Did a Magical Express bus just arrive or something. Holy cow!
That's the week we want to go this time.....

Saturday,September 20, 2008 around 11:00 AM. I don't know if ME had just dropped off people or not. We drove and that is what it looked like when we got there. I should also mention the line actually moved really fast. I think we were checked in within 20-30 minutes. So really not that big of a deal....

I also arrived on the same day via Magical Express around 1:45. Check-in was NOTHING like this at that time. I think there were only 3 families ahead of me in the line. I didn't even wait 5 minutes. :thumbsup2

The line wasn't as bad as it looked. It was just a lot of people! I was very impressed with the speed they got people checked in and cleared out of there.

Before we left it was clearing out. They were dancing.

76 is that it? It was in the 80s in the St. Louis area today.

Hope you had a great vacation. Can't wait to see the pictures!

Couldn't help but notice the St louis remark. I live in st louis myself and I'm planning myfirst visit ever to WDW in Sept going solo and staying at POP I hope. I have my plane ticks but kind of waiting to see if free dining will be offered to book plan. Any tips are appreciated. Doris

I love the photo with the person getting "run over" by the big wheel. Haha!

The food court looks pretty much like the one at POR. I had that breakfast platter almost every morning.

Ha Ha! I just noticed looking at this that the "U" is backwards.

I do love the memories and can't wait to get back there and make more. :goodvibes

I guess I am going to have to find another photo thread to inundate with photos. I don't think I have many more from Pop. I know I have some of the shadow boxes in the lobby that my mom took if you want to see them. I don't find them as fun though. I have about a million of DS palying in the Goofy Pop Jets, but you all probably don't find them nearly as cute.

Yes please, Mickeywannabe, do a photo trip report :thumbsup2 . I loved your Pop photos so much, I told my dbf while we were out shopping today. I said to him, it's so great, she walked all through Pop, just taking pictures constantly. It's like your there on your own trip! To which he replied that he tried doing that, but that I went on and on about the battery, .."you'l run it down, save it for the parks, bupp bupp bupp blah blah blah".

I did too. And I hate him now ;).

Here are some photos of King Rooms that are not HA. These do exist though many CRO Cast Members do not know that when you call to make a reservation. If you are interested make them find out they are available is the best advice I have for you. These were not all taken in the same room or year.

I used a scooter and here you can see the all the room next to the bed that I had to park it or near the window. I do not need or want a HA room so do not request one.

Yes, you can see the top of IllumiNations and in the far distance sometimes WISHES higher fire works.

We could see them from bldg 3 room 3435 - right from the window and standing outside.

Standing outside bldg room 3413.

From the room and outside bldg 2 room 2432.

From the last few rooms in bldg 4, near rooms 4457,58,60

Or you can stand on Generation Gap Bridge or along the walk way on the lake side.

Might be able to see from some other 70's bldgs, but not sure which bldgs - probably bldg 6 close to the lake.

Hope this helps!

Yes, but I do know we had two mousekeepers and not sure which she was. the little notecard in our room said Matilde, but I saw a black lady and a hispanic lady both going in our rooms on different days. I think the black lady was matilde though? :confused3 We got towel animals form her, or at least decorations with washclothes too.

angwill
03-18-2009, 11:29 PM
Matilde is actually a cuban lady so the hispanic looking woman should have been her. She is about 5'3 or so with short black hair and glasses. She would be the one to leave towel animals every day and the room would be spotless and everything fresh and clean when she came in.

On the days when Matilde was off was when our room would still be dirty (garbages not emptied) and we would not get refills of shampoo, soap or new towels. I was so happy when Matilde came back because she had us spoiled.

Can I ask was it you who said they put the power washer outside your door in the morning? Was it still just on the other side of the sidewalk outside the window too?

Our room was always clean, so both ladies did a good job. :thumbsup2

Yes the power washer was just on the other side of the sidewalk pretty much. I wish they would wait till like 10 or so to turn them on. :confused3

Hi all!
I'm back from a great trip! We stayed at Pop for 8 days, our first attempt at a value resort. We loved it there. I have tons of pictures!

Here are a few pictures of the space shuttle launch. We were able to see it from the bridge.

Silly girl.....you can never bore us with pics of Disney resorts. I understand what you mean about a sight for sore eyes.....our drive from Louisiana is anywhere from 14 to 16 hours (depending on the traffic and weather). I always loved seeing the Walt Disney World archway.

I can't wait to see that sign!!! :jumping1:

We're driving straight there (about 21 hours), but the kids don't know we're going to Disney. They think we're going to grandma's (south of Orlando), so they won't know where we're actually going until they see that sign and we pull in. 54 more days :goodvibes

Thanks for the pics. DH and I are so excited and the surprise is killing us!

We loved it! After staying at ASMusic in September, we could really see a difference in the way they do things at POP. It's really the best of all the values. We just bought into DVC, but I could definitely see us staying at POP again, especially during Free Dining!

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

When I first read the title of this picture, "here's a couple from our stay in 2004" I thought they were being funny and referring to Mr and Mrs. Potato head as a couple they had met. :rotfl2: then I scrolled down and saw they meant "a couple of pictures""

:rotfl2:

ok maybe it wasnt that funny, but I am easily amused today apparently

Alesia: Do you have any more pics of the room?

I have these:

My daughter playing with legos on the floor in front of the window. The door is on the left side of the picture.
http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z60/alesia76/Disney%20World%202009/DSC05769.jpg

Here you can see the TV/dresser in the background. Our laundry hamper was on the right-hand side in the corner.
http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z60/alesia76/Disney%20World%202009/DSC05770.jpg

They don't show a lot more than the first one did, though.

I will say that I was kind of surprised at the size of the room. I was expecting it to be tiny, but it was fine. We had more than enough room.

Thanks for the pics. We just found out our 22 year old daughter is going to get to come along with us. She has been away at missionary college for 2 years and we only get to see her 2 or 3 times a year. When we booked Pop, we thought there would just be me, my husband and one 11 year old son. So, I am just trying to get a "feel" of the size of the room.

And, for everybody else who posted pics, thanks so much! I sent a link to our daughter so she could look at pics of Pop Century. She's so excited to be coming along for the first time in 2 years. (She has been to WDW 12 times but is still excited)

We stayed in the 70's Mickey phone building last year, on the backside facing the lake and LOVED it. We had a 4th floor room and heard no noise at night at all. Walked to the elevator and then it was really a fairly short walk to the main building. Our room was not preferred. Hoping to get a room in the same area this trip!

What time of night was this taken at?

The reason behind my question is no one is in the pool. I know they close at midnight, and have in my mind a nice dip around 10pm or 11pm some nights before bed. Am I likely to have a pool to myself? :yay:

Probably took this around 12:30, though I think it also may have been a touch chilly that night to swim.
I know on the warmer nights the main pool had people in there really late.

Thanks.

I use a Kodak Easyshare DX6490. Its a 4mp camera, about 3 years old. It has a good lens, and takes great pictures in most light conditions.

The drawback is it's a wee bit bulky for a theme park. It doesn't go into pockets very well.

I actually seen the hustle while we were there in August it was either 5pm or 6pm in the main lobby! I'm thinking it was 5pm but not positive but my camera wasn't ready so I don't have pics it was buried in luggage! ;)

The Hustle is at 6 pm or at least it used to be. I've danced with them twice. :thumbsup2 Fun! The first time was with a large group of people during mousefest in 2007. The CM were giving us quick lessons. We even had the Pop security people in there. What a hoot!

I just looked at the last few pages of this thread and I'm SOOO excited to stay at Pop in Sept. now!!! I've been debating with myself whether or not to change to one of the AS resorts because I felt like Pop would be too big and overwhelming for me, but looking at these pics, I definitely am not feeling like that anymore! I'll be (hopefully) staying in the 50's area (I requested that section) and am thinking of calling back to ask if I can stay in a room in the Lady building to be close to the parking lot!

I cannot WAIT for September! :)

From everything I have read, Pop is easier to walk to the pools and main building than the All Stars. It is less spread out...again from what I have read. I've only been to Pop.

I hope to get more pictures up soon! I've been so slow at it this time around.:rolleyes1

Really? I've been reading the opposite, that Pop is HUGE and really spread out and the All Stars are much smaller and easier to get around...my only experience is with ASMusic, which I found to be fine, so I got a little nervous reading everything about Pop and how big it is...but from the pictures here, it looks fine, especially if I will be in the 50's buildings. :cool1:

Yeah, everything I read for the most part has said Pop is more cindensed. But again, I've only been to AS Movies onec and took a couple of pictures and left, so I didn't get the lay of the land. LOL! I liked Pop's set up better though from what I saw. But someday we may try Movies.

OK! I've only been to POp and ASMU and my experience is that they come close! Pop maybe a lil more spread out if your going from the 50's to the 80's/90's ! So if you were going from the bowling pin pool to the computer it may feel like a hike because at asmu the calypso pool and the Jazz Piano pool are practically back to back! I would say pop is a lil more spread out but not much more! All stars seemed a lil more condensed than Pop to me. I hope this helps! It's definitely not majorly spread out compared to the all stars but it's definitely a lil more spread out in my opinion.

I'm staying at the Pop next month and this is our first time at the Pop. We have two girls who will be 5 while we are there and our other daughter is 12.

What is the Pop like? We have preferred rooms? Where are they? We are actually driving down to DW. Has anyone every driven to DW? We are coming from Blue Springs, MO (sub of Kansas City)

That was a wheelchair accessible room because the regular room has a tub. Did you have a king room? Some of the king rooms are set up for wheelchairs, I don't think any of the rooms with doubles are.

You're gonna think I'm crazy, But I always ask for a handicap room because I love the shower!

We have never had a problem with wet toilet or toilet paper though. I just love the size and also the fold out bench. Great for shaving my legs! Like you said, the only downside is a wet floor. But since both my husband and I usually shower and go in the morning, it didn't bother us much. It was always dry when we returned after a fun day.

Also like the king bed too, and we usually have a small fridge that comes with a handicap room. Or at least it always has with ours. We've never had to pay extra.

Blessings,
Winnie

We had a difficult time getting a handicapped room last year. I travel with my friend who is disabled, and she needs the accessible room. I wish that Disney would bump people (not disabled people, of course) out of those rooms when someone who needs it requests it. We did finally get an accessible room, and so were able to enjoy the trip. We will have one again next week!

Wow! Thanks for the flames. I guess I should have mentioned I have arthritus and spurs in my right hip and lower back. So I have a time getting in and out of tub showers. My husband re-did our own bath with a walk in shower because of it. So perhaps you should ask specifically before you throw flames. And I guess I could have been more medically specific as to why I liked the handicap shower. But I did not realize I would get flamed leaving that info out. Sorry!

You may think I'm lying, but that's ok. I had considered writing it in my previous response, but didn't want to sound pitiful. The bench is nice for my back. It is always really tight in the morning, and being able to sit in the shower helps.

Just because someone doesn't have an obvious handicapp, doesn't mean they don't have one. It has been suggested by my doctor that I use an electric scooter when doing the parks. I actually have one. But my chiropractor and I agree it's best that I continue to move as best I can. So I do. But I love the walk in shower.

Blessings just the same,
Winnie

Many people book these rooms JUST BECAUSE of the bigger bathrooms--let alone bigger rooms then normal. To each their own ok- Its a pet peeve of mine since people have to do without because of rooms not available.

im not sure if they do have enough or not. when dh and i went in 05 we were asked by our ta if we wanted two doubles or a king sized bed. we sleep in a queen at home and knew a double'd be awful so we asked for king. so perhaps the kingsized are automatically handicapped?

coincidently enough im trying to figure out how to book a closer room this year. i dont specifaically need a handicapped room, but our dd who will be four by the time we visit has cp, and wears an eye patch so she has depth perception problems and has hard times walking long distacnes. our ta suggested paying for a preferrred room altho i dont think we should have to pay extra to be closer for i guess what you would call "medical reasons". but then i dont want to take a handicapped room(plus theres four of us and we woudlnt fit in it!).

when we went in 05 we payed for a prefered room to be closer to the pool- joke! we were in fanatasia but the back part of it and it was still a hike- and that was obvioulsy a handicapped room. if i had payed extra for a handicapped room for that reason id want my money back!

I think the fault on rooms lies with Disney. When someone needs a room for a disability they should automatically be assigned a room. I always request a King room when I am traveling alone with my husband. Now I would never want to take a room away from anyone who needed it and would be more than happy to give the room up if needed. Unfortunately most of the King rooms at Disney are handicapped.

Blessings,
Winnie

I always request a king sized bed with lake or courtyard view. We travel in January during the off season when WDW is least crowded. The last time we were given a handicapped room which included a fridge. (I called to make sure I wouldn't be charged for it and was assured it was installed in the handicapped rooms.) I enjoyed the handicapped shower since I have a walk in shower at home. I do agree that the room gets rather wet after one of my long showers but I've always found it managable with a dry towel as a floor mat.
