I don’t know about all of you, but I LOVE the character meals. There is nothing like playing with Mickey Mouse while eating amazing food! And if you’re like me, you take tons of pictures at these things – so what better excuse could there be for a scrapping swap!
The due date for this swap is May 18th (I stretched it just a bit from the date posted in the calendar, since I was late getting sign ups posted). I need to receive your package by May 18th. Please mail packages to me by May 11th. I will be mailing everything I have back to you on or before May 25th –this is a FIRM date!
The Details
1. Choose a group. There are three to start with. Just let me know what restaurant you are doing – and PLEASE let’s try not to repeat restaurants in a group. For starters, please limit yourself to two groups, so that everyone interested can swap. If I have extra slots, I will, of course, open them up.
2. Make a topper and choose one other element for each slot you select – see the list below. Post your choices of elements and topic. It will be fine if some of the elements duplicate within a group. Just think about what you want to receive back as you make your element selections.
3. PM me with your DIS name, name, home address, email address, and phone numbers (I have a lot of yours already!). Email and phone numbers will only be used to follow up if I have not heard from you.
4. Post your weekly status on the Progress thread - which will be posted after the slots are filled. You must check in 2 weeks prior to the due date. If I have not heard from you by then I will send you a pm or an email. I WILL ANGEL YOUR SPOT IF I DO NOT HEAR FROM YOU WITHIN TWO DAYS OF THE PM OR EMAIL.
5. Check the progress thread for your status - it will be updated with ship info and received info.
6. Packing Instructions - use a Ziploc for each person and put everything for that person into their bag. Please label each bag with your name so we know who made each element. You‘ll have 8 bags to enclose in the larger (gallon size) Ziploc bag for each group you are in - be sure to include your name, your DIS name and your group number. Include $4.60 for postage (or stamps if you don't want to send cash) to return your items. Delivery Confirmation is $0.65. Please don’t send metered or click-it/ship-it postage – some hostesses have had issues with these.
7. PM me if you have problems and need to drop out or if an emergency happens (we all know things happen beyond our control sometimes), let me know so we can make arrangements for an angel or other help if needed.
8. There will be 8 people per group. There will be a total of 3 or 4 groups.
9. And most important...HAVE FUN!! :dance3:
Element Selection:
Please, no hand lettering on any items, use computer fonts, rub-ons, stamps, etc.

This sounds like such a fun swap. We have only done one character meal on our last trip and have reservations for three for our May trip (I'll be lucky if I get to do two). Obviously, I wouldn't be able to use all of your creative stuff. I can't wait to see the pictures posted. It'll give me some scraplifting ideas for my trip layouts. Have fun y'all.

I am new to swaps and I am looking for guidance. I have read the stickies with the elements &embellishment definitons. I have a few questions.
1. The swap hostess listed elements in the beginning of the thread. Library pocket is not listed. Is it acceptable to ask a hostess if you can do something not on the list -- or no, swaps are set up with definite parameters.
2. Can I mix and match elements? Example: This swap requires 2 photo mats or 2 journaling boxes. Can I do one of each?
3. Tags: if I do 2 tags should they be the same size?
4. Can I do more than required? Could I do 3 tags? Or perhaps a photo mat and 4 embellished squares?
5. I am not sure I quite understand the box and tag. Is it really 2 separate items-- a journaling box and a tag. Or is it a tag sized to fit behind the journaling box?
6. The topper box dimensions are 8 inches wide by 2 inches high. If I embellish the corners, do I need to make the box smaller so that the widest point is 8 inches. Think of a prima flower in the corner of an 8 x 2 rectangle -- is this okay? Or do I need to make the rectangle say 7 3/4 x 1 3/4.
7. I suppose I should have asked this last question first. Is this the right place for this post? Should I have pm'ed the hostess or started a new thread?
I really appreciate your help. I am very excited to do my first swap.
One more question -- I have seen a thread with some previous swaps -- is there a thread that has completed pages after the swap?

1. The swap hostess listed elements in the beginning of the thread. Library pocket is not listed. Is it acceptable to ask a hostess if you can do something not on the list -- or no, swaps are set up with definite parameters.
Yes, feel free to ask the hostess if you can do an item not on the list.. most of us around here don't mind adjusting our lists... They are more of a guideline...
2. Can I mix and match elements? Example: This swap requires 2 photo mats or 2 journaling boxes. Can I do one of each?
This kind of depends on the hostess.. just ask.. She will let you know... most of us have adjusted especially if a swapper has an idea that would just work better is that elements mix/matched...
3. Tags: if I do 2 tags should they be the same size?
Not all have to be the same size.. Some of them do just because it's easier. Just make sure there aren't dimensions in the element list..
4. Can I do more than required? Could I do 3 tags? Or perhaps a photo mat and 4 embellished squares?
Yes, you can do more than is required...but keep in mind not everyone does..but we have had alot of us do more than required in the past.
5. I am not sure I quite understand the box and tag. Is it really 2 separate items-- a journaling box and a tag. Or is it a tag sized to fit behind the journaling box?
Box and tag.. is just a journal box and tag that are 2 separate items that work well together and just give some variety...
Just ask the hostess.. Most of us make them 8 X 2 and add our embellishments to that... We really aren't going to measure them to make sure they are exact.. So, a prima in the corner is great!
7. I suppose I should have asked this last question first. Is this the right place for this post? Should I have pm'ed the hostess or started a new thread?
You may definitely post these things here... there might just be another swapper that had the same question and didn't think to ask.. Also, your hostess for this swap is one that will let you know and answer any of your questions.. as well any of the rest of us on the boards.. We are here to help in any way... I'm sure KAMommy will clarify anything on this post tomorrow for you.. Most of us just jump in and answer questions when we can to help one another out..
I really appreciate your help. I am very excited to do my first swap.
One more question -- I have seen a thread with some previous swaps -- is there a thread that has completed pages after the swap?
You mean our completed pages using the Swap Items? :rotfl2: There are some around here.. I think on the scrapbooking board rlovew posted some.. Most of us have collected but haven't scrapped them yet! LOL I myself has a 3 drawer roll-away cart full of swap items I have collected over the year... but I promise I will use them as I complete my 2006 DIS trip, start my 2005 trip...and than will work on my 2008 trip!!!

Here is my thread on which I used some swap items.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1402389
I started by mainly swapping and collecting but I have been working away on pages too. Having my craftrobo for titles helps that go much faster. I have over 200 layouts finished this year and have completed about 15-20 swaps this year. I just make sure to plan out my time carefully. I also keep a calendar. I have slowed down a bit in my actual layouts since my husband and I took over the church youthgroup last month (although I have more pictures to scrap from it).
I also have no children so if I really want to work my DH can be more understanding than a child.

Actually it is all about carefully planning and making the most of the time when i wake up in the morning. I can get a lot done in the time from about 5 am to 7am . Sometimes it is swaps- like this morning, sometimes it is housework, and sometimes it is scrapping but that is when a lot gets done or right after school before DH arrives home I have a 2-3 hour window depending on the day and I tend to cook a lot in one or 2 days and then have meals all I have to do is bake.
I also teach and work with a great team, we do our planning together in 1-2 planning periods a week. Therefore I rarely take work home- my paraprofessional and high school helper grade the papers I can't get to during my planning period and while students work independently. We all work together to create powerpoint and find materials for the units we teach so I really don't have to work outside the school day too much (I do a lot of my share each summer so it is ready when we get back to school.)

123SA, always feel free to ask questions on the thread. Most times if the hostess is busy (like yesterday when I was trying to finish tax filing in the afternoon - sorry) someone else will jump in and answer - THANKS NANCY!!! I am so glad you are joining us, and you are right, it is an addiction.
As for examples - I have used a bunch of my stuff, although I don't have pictures of everything, but if you go to my website www.tndisneyfreaks.com and click on scrapbooking, there is a swaps in action section with some pictures in it.

Go on then - I've tried to resist, but put me down for something in Group 3. I have NO idea when I'll get to WDW again - maybe California in 2009 - but I'm getting withdrawl symptoms *** all my swaps are done!
ETA: put me down for Garden Grill. I was going to do Spercali - whatever breakfast but there's plenty of 1900 Park Fare already ;-)
Can I just be clear, the topper should feature the name of the Restaurant (not the meal) and the elements should be decorated to match the characters present? Or something else?

I am so glad you are joining us. The topper should just identify the restaurant, so I would think it could have either the restaurant name or the meal name. For example, "Princess Storybook Breakfast" would be okay for the sneeze restaurant in Norway, or it could say Norway. Then the other element could tie to the characters.
I don't want to put a lot of restrictions on it, really. We are all so creative and I have yet to get stuff that was un-usable! My thought is, if you would put this in your albums, make it!

Crystal Palace. Can this be subject to change if needed? Right now we are in the tail end of the noreaster that's been our way since Sunday. My minds a bit foggy since we have been dealing with water in the basement, 1/3 of our roof shingles blown off. I keep telling my self not to complain as I know there are people around here whose homes are completely flooded and several that are literally about to be taken out to sea.:sad2:Making a swap decision seems so silly right now, I just want something to take my mind off everything else. Hello all,
I am new to the bunch, but not new to the concept of swapping on other groups.
I'd love to get involved with this swap. We are heading to Disney for our first time as a family in September and I am soooo excited. My DH has been there when he was little but this is a first for my son and myself. We have several character meals planned during our stay. I think it is almost one a day. :)
I'd love to be a part of group 3 and do the play n dine.
I'll probably ask lots of questions to be sure that I get it correct. Can I do the theme song from the Little Einsteins for the element for this meal?

Ask away!!! And welcome to the group!
I don't see a problem with using the theme song, that falls under the Quote or lyric element.
You are going to just love Disney!!!

WELCOME, Julie! :wave2: We are so glad you are joining us.
I will get you added to the first post (which will carry to the progress thread when we get full). Please ask questions - if I am not around, someone else always is.
I think the theme song for Little Einsteins would be great!

Well, all of our spots are taken! Susie had originally asked to be in three groups (before I posted the two group limit), so she is taking our last spot. THANKS!
I will work on the progress thread tonight, or maybe later today. It depends on how inspired I get to be productive at work.
Thanks for filling these so quickly, everybody! We have a great group with lots of new swappers. Welcome to all!
Off to do the progress thread...or work...we'll see!

Buffy and Faerie-Thanks for understanding what's been happening and feeling my pain, I appreciate it. One of the first things I did once things started to settle down a bit was get on the DIS boards...I really didn't think I was addicted until I couldn't get on for a few days:surfweb: I'm glad I didn't miss sign ups for this swap, I've been looking forward to it. I haven't done many but have enjoyed the ones I did so I'm happy to have something to look forward to:banana: Thanks again

That's a good idea!! Maybe have a bunch of groups for the previous swaps somewhere towards the end of the year. Like group 1 would be character meals, group 2 would be MK, 3 would be slide mounts. COOL!!!!

I'd be interested later in the year, too. Just too much going on right now, and too little time! I love the WDW restaurants period! You're a great hostess, KA Mommy, so I hope to be in one of your swaps later when life isn't so nutty!!

Do we need to send in a self addressed envie? Also, do we need to send in teh delivery confirmation slip and enclose it for you?

Susie, you don't need to send a self-addressed envelope, just your return postage. Usually, that is the priority flat-rate for either an envelope or a box. And the postage rates are going up, but the new rate is noted in the first post on this thread. I usually just do those flat-rates back to everyone, because it is so much less complicated!

Can you do the 1900 park fare as just that? We are doing the breakfast there since my son has said no to a princess meal. He's willing to go to the breakfast because of the possibility of the Mad Hatter and I REALLY want to see Mary Poppins.

Stupid newbie questions to follow
1. Do I mail my swaps separately?
2. Do I send $4.60 postage for each of my groups?
Thanks for your help

Just jumping in to answer here. Generally you will package each group together. wrap the items for each person (put them in a baggie) with your name somewhere. Then put the enitire group into a bag. You do this with each group you are in and then you mail all of the groups in one box.
You need to send postage to return your items but the swap will come back all in one container. If you send $4.60 they will come in a priotrity envelope. If you send $9.20 they would come in a flat rate box.

mom2001scrapper -
I will just do a fairly "generic" 1900 Park Fare that isn't character specific. Then everyone can use it however they need it. You will love the breakfast - it's great!
