End of September Poppers

keliblue : 21-28

I posted a message on our Sept. Pop thread as well, but we will be there 9/22-10/6. I like your suggestion of having a meet on 9/22. We get in that night and our only plan is dinner, so it would work out great for us. I think we are down to 158 days...I need to double check on that number, but it's getting close! Woohoo!!:cool1:

Becky, you need a Trip count down in your sigi  go here and get yourself one tickerfactory.com

We have AK planned for that day and then dinner at BOMA's. .. perfect night for a party.

I will be there 9/22-9/29 and only have dinner at Chef Mickey's at 6pm planned for 9/22 so it is a perfect time for me(32), DH(33) and DSD(6)!

I had mentioned on the other post that I will more than likely be doing laundry and hanging out the Hippy Dippy Pool and bar on 9/25 after 9pm so if someone can't make the 9/22 meet you can always come and have a drink with me then, too!

Already got a bucket set up so that when I go shopping I can pick up little extra's like shampoo, conditioner, ponchos, etc and just throw them in the bucket.
I already have the word out with my mom to find the dollar store glow necklaces to bring with us.
I can't WAIT!

I think I'm going to set aside a box & start getting things together for our trip. I don't care if my DH thinks I'm absolutely insane, I want to be prepared for this trip :)

I wonder if there are any others who will be at POP at the end of the month? Haven't heard from anyone else yet....:confused3

Just remind your DH that it is cheaper to grab things while they are on sale then to have to pay MUCHO DINERO in one shopping trip just before you leave! :thumbsup2

Exactly! That is what I plan on telling him. I'll make him think that we will save a ton of money if I start buying things now (sad thing is I'll probably spend more money stocking up on things which aren't really needed) :)

Hi all -
Hoping to join the party @ the pool 9-22 and/or 9-25!
We will be @ POP 9-18 to 9-27 ~~~ DH, Me & DD age 14. :dance3:

We initially had ressies for end of April but had to cancel so I just got started making a pseudo-plan AGAIN. Also feeling stressed being behind on ADRs now.

But parks aren't open super late so I'm sure we can make time for drinks, on a pool lounger, under the stars, at POP! :hippie:

Question: Does this make us Popper Fockers or Focker Poppers? :jester:
later ~ Tina

Welcome Tina!
I think it would be hilarious if we all walked around doing the Focker gesture to find each other - kinda like a Marco Polo game. See how many stange looks we get from everyone who ISN'T in the KNOW :rotfl2:

Keeping my fingers crossed for ya Becky! Hope you get your paperwork.
There were a few things I wasn't expecting:
$15 food voucher at Planet Hollywood (no thanks - yuck!)
voucher for mini golf
voucher or coupon for the Sea Raycer - I actually have a question posted on the Theme Parks page asking about this as we put aside an afternoon for my DH to do this. Someone thought it was you buy 60 minutes and you get 30 minutes free....anyone hear of this?

Welcome Tina! So glad you are joining us!! :) It's going to be a blast.

Is Planet Hollywood really that bad? My DH wants to eat there but I'm scared to after reading all of the reviews, so I'm trying to talk him in to going somewhere else instead.

I should re-word my "no thanks - yuck" to a "tried it once, it was okay, but wouldn't go back" type of place. It really loud and the food is just okay.

Is anyone planning to attend MNSSHP ?? http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_1_209.gif (*******************************************ZSzeb0 01_ZSYYYYYYYYUS) We are going to either on the 21st or the 28th.

I am thinking about the 28th but not sure yet. I might cancel the park hopper option on my passes since we RARELY change parks and use the extra money to go to MNSSHP but it is on our last day and will depend on what time DH gets our flights for on Saturday.

looks like the 22nd is the only night Spectromagic will be at MK during my stay. I was planning on going to it and Wishes that Sat night. Will you all still be at the pool when I get back? And, more importantly, will the bar still be open?!?!?!

My ADR's:

Teppanyaki 9/21 7:30
Kona's 9/22 6:25 (not sure if its Kona's or the Lapu Lapu's we love!)
Liberty Tree Tavern 9/23 7:30
Hollywood & Vine 9/24 5:30
Boma's 9/25 7:00
LeCellier 9/26 2:00 (couldn't get a good Dinner time)

We'll probably go on the 28th. I'm so excited! We went a couple years ago, but DH wasn't really into it so we missed the parade, picture, etc. This year, now that we have a son, he's so excited about it & DH was looking at halloween costumes yesterday & decided that Hunter is going to be Tigger for the MNSSHP. :)

Does anyone else have a DH that thinks meeting up with other DIS board members is weird? He just can't understand why I am so excited about meeting people while on vacation. He said he'll go swimming with son while I meet up with everyone, but he was like "How do you know it'll be safe, they are people you met on the internet" He's just a bit paranoid I guess :)

Too late! I already told him. Last night I told him how a group of us were going to meet poolside for drinks on the 22nd and he asked how I knew everyone. After I told him he seriously did roll his eyes and said I'm dumb. Yes, he said I'm dumb! He asked why on earth I'd want to meet people I don't even know & then he got paranoid saying that I could be meeting "freaks" (that was his term) I said yeah, "Disney Freaks" but then I told him that it wouldn't be a big deal, it would be lots of fun & he should try to relax & not be such a pessimist (sp?) It just makes me laugh though:rotfl:

He just thinks I'm obsessed with all things Disney & he's starting to think I'm a little strange, but oh well :) We've been married almost 6 years and together for 8 1/2, you'd think he would know this already.:rotfl:

I tried to get him a little more excited about our trip last night by going over the spreadsheet I made & I wanted to tell him more about our resort, restaurants, etc. but he decided that watching CSI: Miami was more entertaining.

Welcome mickeyhat and jayna22:cool1:

My husband used to have reservations about me chatting with people and making plans to meet until a few years ago we went on a cruise and I had a planned meet. He claimed to be sick so didn't want to go. I was there for about 20 minutes before he showed up "all better". I think he was worried! He had a blast and most of us ended up on the same tours or meeting up at shows, being IN the shows and what-not. It was FABULOUS

Now he just asks if there will be someplace for him to get a beer :rotfl2:

This will be my third time taking him. The first time it was just us and he didn't want to hear anything about it and would threaten to cancel if I brought it up one more time. 2 trips later and he is actually LOOKING at the pics of the resorts I send him and when I called him to tell him I bookd BBB and the Neverland Club for DSD he didn't even snort at me :thumbsup2

DH says he won't ever go back to WDW. We've been 4 times, once as a couple (came back w/DD!), second time w/DD age 4 (came back w/DS!), had DH "fixed", third time w/DD 14 and DS 9 & last Aug for a blowout 10 day no holds barred do anything and everything you want with Free Food thrown in for good measure trip. When I said I wanted to do it again if FD was offered this year, he said "Count me out!!" So I decided not to forgo my fun just because the rest of the family isn't interested. So far, DD (22) has agreed to go, "If you can't find anyone else". I think she just wants another Lapu Lapu too!!!

You'll have to let me know when you are up here in Portland & we can have a little mini-Dis meet :) How old is your godson? Hopefully his travels will go smooth getting from PDX to Florida. I'd be nervous too, but I'm sure it will all be fine.

We just moved down to Portland (about 5 months ago) from Juneau, Alaska. My husband is from there & has lots of family in Sitka & the rest of SE Alaska. We still have a home up there but needed to get away...the weather was starting to drive me crazy! Do you ever get up there to visit? Sitka is a really pretty place.

You should definitely try to visit Alaska someday. It's cold (that's why I moved to Oregon) but one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

And now I understand why you are nervous about your godson traveling alone...15 year old boys get distracted very easy...and the cheeseburger example is exactly what I was thinking of. Actually, it doesn't get any better in my opinion...my 31 year old DH still gets distracted by food in the airport & we are always rushing at the last second to get to our flights because he had to go to the food court and get something to eat.:rotfl:

Thanks for the link! I'll begin ordering supplies very soon! I also need to get my butt down to Home Depot this weekend to get some mickey heads. Actually, I'm going to Idaho tonight for my grandma's 80th birthday party, so while I'm in Boise I'll have my grandpa take me to Home Depot (it's his favorite store) so that I can get a few then. My family will probably think I'm insane for grabbing so many!!

HI Sarah! Welcome! WOW 7 kids! You are so lucky!!!!! WHat a group to bring to WDW!!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I always say we take seven kids wherever we go, so WDW is no different. LOL
They love it, and we love being able to park the 15 passenger van and let Disney do the driving. :drive: :crowded:

Wow !! what a fun group to come and join us !! All of our kids should have a great time meeting each other and playing in the pool

They'd love that! We're taking dh's family for the first week, and my mom for the whole time. Most are first timer's.
22nd is our no parks day at DTD, so I anticipate being back at Pop for supper and swimming.

Don't know if I will be able to a) get glow in the dark thingies, b) convince any of my family to wear it.
But I will find you guys if you glow. :3dglasses LOL

Got to get to HD to get some Mickeys.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Thats too funny about the glow stuff. I was at the Dollar Store this weekend and bought some to try. I figured they would be MUCH cheaper than the ones that Disney sells during parades/fireworks!
Let me know if anyone needs me to send some to them :thumbsup2

So is anyone doing something this trip that they HAVEN'T done on previous trips?
We are finally going to rent the Watermice at the Comtempory. DH has been wanting to do this for a while now.

It now seems like there will be a few of us with little ones. My little guy will be 11 1/2 months when we are there...but he'll probably be the same size as your 15 month olds because he's a little chunky guy & he's really tall for his age (taking after daddy who is 6'5"). :)

Well, mine might give him a run for his money....at 11 months now he is 35 inches tall and 28 lbs! I guess he is "technically" big enough to ride Goofy's Barnstormer....not that I would ever send him on it now! His dad is also 6'5"..I guess we like tall men :rotfl: My older ds who is 2 is almost the same size. People often ask me if they are twins, even though my 11 month old is not even walking yet :confused3

LOL...I think mine is on the way to being that big too. At 5 1/2 months he is 31" and 21 pounds. So by 11 months he should be pretty close to that. Everyone always says how huge he is...:rotfl: The other day my DH was joking around & saying that if he keeps growing he'll be able to ride all of the rides...yeah right! Like I'd let him on any of them at a year old! :)

About having an affair on the internet: I swear my dh thinks that sometimes! :rotfl2: I'm sure dh will come around, though when I started to tell him about the "focker watch" thing the expression on his face was priceless :lmao: Seriously though, we're both a little shy but we would enjoy meeting new people! Our youngest's first birthday is May 12. She's not as big as these bruiser boys I am reading about! LOL I think she hasn't quite hit 20 lb, but she is very loooong.

We will have with us dd13, ds11, ds8, ds6, dd4, dd3 and the 16 mo dd.

So we come with large variety of ages to play with everyone else's kids.

I am still up in the air about MNSSHP on the 28th. I just feel like it is going to turn into that one day last year that was a DISASTER. I think that was the infamous 9/29 party (someone correct me if I am wrong) because of the free dining.

I am already taking off the park hopping part of my tickets and that will save me $120 which I will justify in using to pay for MNSSHP but I am still worried.

BUT I am DYING to see the headless horseman and the cool looking parade

The Headless horseman is AWESOME !! But the coolest thing is the haunted lighting and the Villian fireworks ... oooooooooow and being a 40ish year old woman running around trick or treating with DH :rotfl:

We went to MNSSHP 2 years ago & loved it. The fireworks were awesome & I just loved the whole theme of the park that night. Definitely worth going to.

The main reason we were considering it is because there are a couple days we plan on going to the water park & then have dinner reservations at night & don't want to deal with the bus schedule trying to get from the water park to the resort to the other resort for dinner. My DH also likes to go to Downtown Disney quite a bit & since we'll have family to babysit at night we thought it would be fun to have a couple "date" nights & go over there. I guess I'll just check rates & compare the cost for the time we are there. Am I correct, do resort guests get free parking at all of the parks?

My dd13 will be happy to hear this! She was convinced there were no 13 yo girls who would be at Pop, since everyone posting seems to have little boys! LOL
We will have a 6 yo boy also.

See you there!

My daughter will be happy too, last year there was no one her age at POFQ.My son will be glad to have a playmate..can't wait to see everyone.
We are doing MNSSHP on the 21,I have changed my ADRs a million times, hopefully I'm all set.The only day I have nothing planned is for the 22

I did the Hoop De Doo about 6 months ago and had a GREAT time BUT most of it was geared to older kids and adults. If you were going to choose between the two I would do the Mickey's Backyard BBQ. I haven't been but I have read reviews and it seems like it would be more fun the little ones.

I don't think I've posted my plans on this thread yet. I am in charge of all the details for everything.

Did I mention we're having a Grand Gathering with 16 people? :scared1:

Here is the crew:
DH (37) and I (39) and our 7 kids previously mentioned
(this is our 3rd trip as a family, baby's first trip!)
DBIL (Ummm...around 33, I think) and DSIL (34?)
and their two kids dniece 10 and dneph 8
(DSIL was there as a child, maybe 25 years ago, I think before Epcot, rest of the family's first trip)
Both of DH's parents (Mid 50s) (MIL was there 25 years ago also, FIL's first trip)
My Mom (68)
(First Trip! Can't believe we talked her into it. My dad said NO, so we will go without him. :sad2: )

My mom is travelling down with us in our 15 passenger, and the ILs are going together in another van. ILs are staying the 16th-22nd. We will stay until the 27th.

So are Grand Gathering ADRs are:

9/17 Epcot - 8:30 am Princess Story book breakfast (1st. time)
4:10 Le Cellier Dinner

9/18 MK - 4:30 LTT (1st.)

9/19 MGM - 11:40 H & V Lunch (1st.)

9/20 AK - 6:40 pm Chef Mickey's Dinner

9/21 MK/EP 10:40 Crystal Palace Breakfast

***Inlaws leave

9/22 DTD 10:40 Chef Mickey's Breakfast (1st. for breakfast)
[Scheduling in the Glow in the Dark Inflatable Monkey Pop Pool Party. LOL]

9/23 MGM?/EP 5 pm Coral Reef (1st.)

9/24 AK 10:10 Donald's Breakfast

9/25 EP 4:40 Rose and Crown (1st.)

9/26 MK 3:50 (Didn't know they seated so early!) Crystal Palace Dinner (1st. for Dinner)

My best friend says I am making a mistake about Coral Reef, but she hated Le Cellier, so I am hoping she is wrong. LOL

We figured out it has taken me over seven hours of phone time to plan and book this trip. It will be worth it IF they all have a good time. No pressure there, right? LOL :rolleyes1

Anyway, it feels good to get that all out there in front of people who understand.

Woopsie, posted this in the wrong place, meant to put it here with you fine people. Will try harder next time...thanks for pointing out KeliBlue...crikey, if I can't navigate around a DISboard how am I going to handle the Magic Kingdom...it's a worry:eek:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings from Australia :upsidedow - the only place with more sunburnt Poms than Orlando :cool2: .

Looking forward to joining you on 22nd - our arrival date! However, not sure if I'll still be able to stand upright as we arrive at about 7pm after 30 hours travel from Perth in Western Australia (11 hours to Tokyo, 11 hours to Detroit, 3 hours to Orlando :scared1: ).

I know, I know - I must be a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic - but don't fret gentle readers, I have a positive mental attitude, a BIG bag of teeny-tiny distractions/activities (my goal is 30 - one an hour) and the Australian Travelling Mother's Last Resort - a big bag of antihistimines... there I'll be, :faint: drooling, snoring and probably worse - but hey, I'll be in another place, a far better place....the other two can fend for themselves...(only kidding... or am I...)

Anyway, I have had to machinate, plot, cajole and bully rest of my small family consisting of DH - or I refer to him as :rolleyes1 NIITSDH (Not-Interested-In-The-Slightest-DH) and 9 year old TrampolineLegoGoGoGoBoy :yay: DS Rory. Sooo, the RESPONSIBILITY is crushing dear SepPoFo's - what happens if we don't have a good time - - or, or it rains  - or someone gets sick :guilty: , or everyone hates it :sad1: - and it was ALL MY IDEA :scared1: !!!!

Blimey - I feel much better now....it's all vented and handed over - gosh you gals are GOOD!! :cutie:

Anway, background here - we're originally from the UK so I went with my family as a teenager in the 80's and in 1992 I took DH on a 4 day whirlwind tour with very early and very skinny edition of the Unofficial Guide (it worked, even back then, we saw everything, but it did stress DH out as I wouldn't allow him to eat - I was FOCUSSED - no time to eat :moped: - chop, chop you SLACKER!.

But now of course, I am mature and wise in man-ways, so we have 14 days and plentyplenty rests aka TGM. There will be NO stress, no late rushing around, all will be calm and serene grasshopper...we will be as butterfly wafted on gentle breeze, as we glide effortlessly from rope drop to strategic FP to scheduled siesta to cunningly planned ADR. It is all in "The Schedule" (oh yes, it's in colour) and there will be absotively, posalutley NO real life interfering in my shiny happy plan.

Anyway, have blathered on and not managed to give dates - we're at POP from 22nd Sept to 7th Oct.

And mines a Sea Breeze (1/3 vodka, 1/3 cranberry juice, 1/3 pink grapefruit juice) or I make a mean Rose Martini...not to mention my Margarita Ice Cream (it's what angels eat on their hen/does nights :cloud9: ).

Hi Sarah...My name is Tammie, a.k.a BINKYJ, and I am an addict too. I had my schedule done 2 months ago and made all of my ADR's at 180 days out before I even booked my package (just picked the week that everyone said free dining was ending and kept my fingers crossed, lol) and before I asked DH or got the okay from my DSD's Mom to take her out of school on her 4th week of classes :lmao:

I LOVE to plan trips but for 16 people??:scared1:
I would be intimidated. I commend you for it and KNOW that it will go well!
My backup plan if things aren't going my way is to come back to the resort, throw DSD in the pool, hand 2 beers to DH (one for each hand, of course) and get me something frosty to drink ;) and start over later.

binkyj, cool! We'll definitely be looking for the lime green mickey head! :)
Also, what was the infamous MNSSHP last year that you mentioned? Was it really crowded? I hadn't really thought about it being super crowded because of free dining.

I am BIG on reading the trip reports and there were SO MANY complaints about MNSSHP on 9/29/06. I think there were also some threads about it too. Major over crowding. It was the only day I heard complaints about. I will have to go back and do some scooping to get the exact details.
No complaints about the first day (can't remember what date that was) but I think the 29th was either the 2nd or 3rd one.

Add me to the list we'll be there from 9-22 to 10-2

Welcome Tanya90210!!!

ok it's 10:30 but it's still morning!!!

I haven't been around for a while. This is just a mother/daughter trip and only because she drew the short straw! I'm trying not to get too obssessed with planning here. Luckily she's still away at college (graduating 5/19!! my baby's all grown up:sad1: ) so I can't drive her nuts. Made the following ADR's & I'm kind of only so-so on them.

9/21 Teppanyaki
9/22 Kona's
9/23 Liberty Tree Tavern
9/24 Hollywood & Vine
9/25 Boma's
9/26 Le Cellier (could only get lunch)

Any suggestions? I planned these to follow the park open the latest on any given day since hrs are SOOOO short when we're there. Oh, what the heck, since you've got me started, I may as well give you all the whole (current) itinerary!!!!

Arrive 9/21 around noon. Hoping to get DD to agree to the 7:35 out of Hartford arriving MCO @ 10am & ME to POP for around noon. The only other choice doesn't arrive until 4PM, WAAAAY too late. Check in and head to Epcot. Always start here and is Spaceship Earth really going to be closed???? This is my traditional first ride (not counting the monorail at MCO). Dinner is at 7:30 and then Illuminations. FW is open til 10PM so we might have a chance to hang there for a little while longer. Or we could skip Ill. til later in the week & do FW.

9/22 DD will sleep til noon. I'm going to go to MGM for early opening & some solo wandering. Katie will either join me here or meet me at Kona's for 6:25 ressies. Then to MK for Spectro & Wishes and back to POP to meet all of you!

9/23 DD will sleep til noon (detect a pattern here?) Need a suggestion for an early park here. MK later with LTT ressies at 7:30. Park open til 11PM & we'll hit attractions having seen Wishes the night before.

9/24 See above! AK for me for early opening. MGM later with H & V Fantasmic pkg. & park open til 11PM.

9/25 Need a suggestion here too although it might be a read at the pool do a quick load of laundry morning.

**Digression*** I try to pack very light and do some laundry at WDW. I don't mind and it forces me to slow down for at least a few hrs!!!

9/25 con't AK for the afternoon. Park closes at 5 & we'll head to AKL for 7PM's at Boma. Thought this would give us time to explore the AKL and have a drink before dinner without rushing. From here, I thought we'd head to DD for a little shopping. Chose this because we'll need to get to a "Hub" to get back to POP anyway.

9/26 You know the drill here! We have 2PM at Le Cellier so we'll probably spend most of the day at Epcot, catch ILL (another last night tradition) and go out the International Gateway to Boardwalk for a while (what do you think? And what would be the easiest way back to POP from here?)

9/27 only have 6 day passes but I can add another day once down there if I need it can't I? ME will be picking us up around 2PM so, if there's any park time to be had, it'll only be me.

OK, give me some feedback! I have no one to discuss this with and it's DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!!!

I too have to take it easy in the morning's cause I have to remember it is DH's vacation too. So we have compromised! The first couple of days we will leave late morning to parks that have Evening EMH and then a couple of days we will go in the morning to parks that have a 9am opening. No early morning hours for DH!

I LOVE the Kona Cafe:love: and Le Cellier  and have ADR's for both of those again. I really like Boma the one and only time I was there but DH is a Meat/Potato/Pasta kinda guy and somethings weren't spiced to his liking. The Liberty Tree Tavern I like for lunch but not dinner. Thats just a preference cause I would prefer not to eat "Thanksgiving Dinner" except on Thanksgiving and Christmas, lol. The Hollywood and Vine, to me, is a character only experience. Don't go there with high hopes on the food and you won't be disappointed. I would LOVE to try Teppanyaki sometime :thumbsup2 !

I am kinda thinking we should have a mini meet at Spectro and Wishes on 9/22 then we can all hop the bus back to the POP and have a few drinks!

I will post my tentative schedule on another post.

we were there last year for Fantasmic pkg, too. Didn't want to use 2 TS for Brown Derby although we loved the food there and MM's menu wasn't appealing to us. H & V was one of the nice surprises of the trip!! I was so nervous because of the bad reviews but we really liked this buffet. Nothing fancy but good food. It was a GOD AWFUL!!!!! hot day and I loved the fresh, cold fruit to start, must have brought my body temp down 20 degrees!!. The peel & eat shrimp were delicious. The family also really enjoyed the pot roast, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. But the highlight of the meal was DS coming back to the table with a bowl of what he thought was cranberry sauce. Took a BIG bite - wrong!!! BEETS!!!!! You never have the camera out when you need it :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

So I'm fine with H & V again and I LOVE Thanksgiving dinner & we didn't do any character meals last trip so I thought I'd sneak one in without telling DD. When we get there, I'll just play dumb:rolleyes1 !!

I did the H and V about 4 years ago so maybe it has changed or I just had a really "off" night, lol! DH loves Thanksgiving dinner anytime as well but since he doesn't want to help plan then to bad for him :thumbsup2

The only reason I chose MM was for the italian food. DH really wanted Alfredo's - we liked it the one time we were there although most of the reviews are bad - but they are closing it before I get there. Tony's didn't appeal to us either

Hi binkyj286 - another martini fan..woohoo, if you like chocolate and coconut try brown sugar sprinkled fresh pineapple slices cooked on the bbq (in pieces or wedges on sticks) and then dip into melted chocolate sauce made by mixing good melted chocolate with malibu (coconut rum) and a bit of cream...yum, yum or more interesting is use chilli vodka instead…very nice too:thumbsup2

I too am awed that Utahmama and Goofy4UM will be around – :worship: we’re not worthy … :worship: we’re not worthy…

Becky_AK – Looking forward to meeting you all too – if I can still speak…if not, I’ll just lie down and I’m sure some nice person will stick a straw into my mouth – just hope I have enough energy to suck!

Keliblue – thank you, ahh a nice cold tinny :drinking: – hope we get to meet and share a real one! :woohoo:

And Pooch, loved your story of the beets :rotfl: – I had an embarrassing experience at a dimly lit party in a posh house: nervous, I grabbed a handful of what I thought was chips – YEEUUCHHH, BLEUCH, YACK, YACK, YACK…yup, I’d just tried to chow down on a handful of posh perfumed wood shavings in a bowl of pot pourri… :lmao:

Looking forward to joining you on 22nd - our arrival date! However, not sure if I'll still be able to stand upright as we arrive at about 7pm after 30 hours travel from Perth in Western Australia (11 hours to Tokyo, 11 hours to Detroit, 3 hours to Orlando :scared1: ).

Ok, maybe we should compare notes. Which is worse...30 hours on a plane with 1 child, or 20 hours in a van with seven? It's like a wacky math problem, eh? LOL

I guess since we stop once for the night we are slightly better rested, but you get to let someone else drive. Hmmmmm.....

I've always wondered what's in a Seabreeze. I want one of those. I also heard of a Creme Brulee martini on another DIS thread, and that sounds awful good too.

Considering I have been "Pregnant and/or nursing, since 1998!" I haven't had a lot of drinks in the last few years, and everything sounds good. LOL

Hope we get to meet you! :)

I made my ADRs the same way...no resort ressie, waiting on Free dining. Gamble paid off this time!

And that's my plan for my dh too! LOL
Great minds think alike! :thumbsup2

Won't we all be excited when we get to the packing stage!!! :laundy: :woohoo:

At least we can all obsessively pack together. :dance3:

DD called yesterday, you know, the one that got the short straw? Well it seems a few of her friends (they're all graduating from college in 3 weeks - no more tuition payments!!!) want to get together in late Sept at - wait for it --- Disney!!! "My Mom can help get you free food!!!" and NOW she's all excited about the trip although I might have more solo time than I originally thought. Oh well, as long as she wants to go!!! :thumbsup2

For Spectro I like anywhere in Liberty Square and for Wishes I like the Rose Garden...Tinkerbell practically flies right over your head.
Of course....I did TGM last year and thats where I got the ideas but when I used the spots I really liked them :thumbsup2

How about Illuminations? Anyone have a fav spot for that too?

We love to watch wished/spectro right in front of Casey's corner, and Illuminations right across from the margarita stand in Mexico (for obvious reasons having nothing to do with the view):goodvibes

Not sure if we'll make it back to MK for wishes on the 22nd. We're going to mickey's BBQ that night - but we should be back at POP by the time all of you get there.

Good morning all :hippie: Time to get this party started !!

Of course, I paniced an booked my airfare on SW (Portland to MCO for my god kids, Sac to MCO for DH and me) a few days ago and now I am seeing lower airfare on Yahoo travel :sad2: $`134 on way from Portland.. I paid $179 :headache: Hoping for a DING !!

Ok, maybe we should compare notes. Which is worse...30 hours on a plane with 1 child, or 20 hours in a van with seven? It's like a wacky math problem, eh? LOL

I guess since we stop once for the night we are slightly better rested, but you get to let someone else drive. Hmmmmm.....

Considering I have been "Pregnant and/or nursing, since 1998!" I haven't had a lot of drinks in the last few years, and everything sounds good. LOL

Hope we get to meet you! :)

Hi DisneyMom5 - as a Dismally-Disorganised-Mum-Of-One I have such respect for you with 5!! :cheer2: Even the logistics of it all scare me - what's your washing basket like?!? :laundy: buying toilet roll for 7?!? How many shopping trolleys do you need to do your weekly shopping?!!?? :confused3

All these and other questions fill my little head until I get distracted by something nice and shiny. You are EXACTLY the sort of person who I try to think of when I'm on long, long flights...so, R*E*S*P*E*C*T to you:flower3: - still, we can compare notes and sip on a Mummy's Little Relaxer when we get there!

And Goofy4UM - (sorry, can't work out how to quote you now I'm in my message:headache: ). Now then SirG, I'm counting on you to come along too and act all sensible and normal and reassure my DH - he'll have combined 'English reserve+Australian laidbackness+30 hours no-sleep' so I don't think he should be exposed to a swimming pool of glow in the dark excited DISers all trying to speak at once. :scared1: In fact, he doesn't even know about the DISboards yet :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: he's going to think I'm really two dingoes short of a pack !! (Now - you all know that we don't actually say that in Australia - just trying to put a bit of local colour in - oops scuse me, gotta dash, the koala just fell in the billabong and Bruce, BRUCE you maggot - those shrimp are burning on the barbie dahl !!:upsidedow )

Yahhhh it's called my butt on the curb saving seats :rotfl:

What - no towel!! SACRILAGE (or even sacrilige... sacrilege... sackrilidge... nope, it's getting worse, oh heck) - HERESY Keliblue, heresy...

And I have to ask you all, I'm sure you have them as we're SOO behind the times over here - it's true, our shops are practically empty, I can't get a lime green bagallinni in the whole flamin' country! :headache: But I CAN get hold of plastic glow in the dark mugs over here, it's a plastic glass and the little glowy straws clip into the bottom of them. You surely have them doncha? If not, I can see if they pack OK and bring some over for the goodie bags - I'd love to join in if I may? Pleaseprettypleasepretty....I'll bring some roopoo...it's very tasty...no honest, just wait and see...

Thanks for letting me know about the deal from Portland. I haven't got my tickets yet, so I'll have to check that out. I also went on Travelocity last night & saw tickets on United (I think?) and they were $269 R/T. I've got to get them purchased soon though...I have a tendency to procrastinate when it comes to buying airfare.

I like the idea of watching spectro & wishes on the 22nd & then going back to Pop for our Pool/drink party. We get in on the 22nd & decided not to make any dining plans for that night just in case we were delayed or anything like that. So, we are pretty much open for anything/anytime on the 22nd.

Hi, mom2my3kids! I'm so glad that you decided to check out this thread after reading my other post! Hope we get a chance to meet! BTW, I'm glad you finally got LTT for MNSSHP(and me too) :)
Our plane is supposed to land on the ground on the 22nd at 12:30, then we plan to check in at Pop and head off to MK for our Chef Mickey's ressie. After that, we'll have to see how the kids are holding up after all the travel. Both girls, first time on an airplane and first time spending a night away from home, and in a hotel room to boot! We're all so excited though, especially me since it's my first time at WDW FINALLY!!

Everyone else: Sorry I haven't checked in on what's going on in awhile! I've been so busy trying to book flights, getting LTT dining ressies and MNSSHP tix, and changing my dd's ressie for BBB to the castle instead of DTD on the day of MNSSHP! Ahh, now I can breathe a little bit now. Thank goodness the dis boards keep me up to date (albeit glued to my computer), but that's OK. Being a newbie, if it wasn't for these boards I would be so clueless and our vacation would have been less than magical! OK, I think I'm rambling.... Anyway, when I get a chance, I'll post my itinerary and would love to see what you guys all think.

Good Morning Everyone!

Welcome aboard Mom2my3kids!

Airfare is NOT my favorite thing to book! DH looked online at Jetblue the day I told him we had booked Disney and the airfare was wicked cheap but we had to wait till the following week to book (stupid mortgage payments! ;) )
And NOW all the prices have jacked up. It would figure.

LOEMH= Little Ones Extra Magic Hours. It's where they open Fantasyland only 1 hour early and a lot of characters are there to play games and ride the rides with the kids. It is geared for the under 5 set but anyone can attend. It sounds really fun, I think both my girls will enjoy this!

Unfortunately she takes after her father (6'3) than her mother (around 5'2? she is a tad bit shorter than me) and looks like she is 8 or 9!

I might just try it, though ;) At least to see some of the characters and get the more popular Fantasy Land rides done. Worse thing they can do is say no, right? :cool1:

So...I have to go over to the "Left" Coast for work the week of May 14th. I am flying into San Francisco and staying in Mountain View.

I notice that there are a lot of "Left" Coasters here....anyone familiar with the San Francisco/Mountain View area and can recommend any restaurants? I am usually pretty frugal with restaurants except on birthdays and anniversarys when we venture into Boston to eat at one of the better places. But since I am not paying.... :cool1: :thumbsup2

Yep, I'm now an Oregonian...hehe. That is after growing up in Boise, Idaho going to college for a few years in Southern Oregon, living in Alaska for a few years where my husband. I think I need to find one place to live & stay there for awhile. I love Portland though, it is a great city. Only problem is after living in Alaska for the past few years I'm having a hard time dealing with traffic and all the people, but for the most part I am very happy here.

I have family that lives in Woodland. In fact, my parents were up there last weekend visiting. It is beautiful!

Keep a look out for Me, DH and DSD(6) at Mama Melrose! We have ADR's for 6pm. I will have a LGMH somewhere on me :thumbsup2

We will definitely have our window decorated. Last year was a BLAST because everywhere you looked there were decorated DIS windows! I bring a post-it note pad with me and stick on messages on peoples doors (also great at blocking the toilet sensor if your little one is scared...i have a great story about that one I will have to share sometime) and take pics of them too.
It was wicked cool to come home after the parks or wake up and find someone has left a message or present at our door. It just makes the trip more magical :cloud9:

That would have been FABULOUS but unfortunately I did NOT book the Fantasmic package :sad2:
I was going to but in the end decided not to...and I have NO IDEA WHY:confused3 . My ADR's are for 6pm so I am not even sure if I will make it in time to Fantasmic for 7pm. Keeping my fingers crossed that they might have a 2nd showing since it is Evening EMH.

But I will DEFINITELY keep an eye out for ya! If your coming to the meet I will know who to look for :thumbsup2

8pm?! Thats PERFECT! I thought I was going to miss it completely! That gives me time to eat AND make it to Fantasmic.

Is the Package seating in a completely different area? It would be great if we could all watch together :grouphug:

What Is Glow Night

Welcome MOMNDADNJOSH!

Glow night is a DIS meet at the Hippy Dippy Pool at the POP on 9/22. Time is tentively scheduled for around 10pm....or how ever long it takes some of us to watch Spectro/Wishes at MK and bus it back to the POP! We will be wearing or carrying anything that glows in the dark to help others find us! Lots of us has kids that we are going to toss in the pool while the adults have a frosty beverage :cool1:

You are soooo funny!:lmao:

I am going to try this year! I imagine it will be a slow process though.

Apparently the package area is separate from the rest of the seating. That said, if it isn't TOO busy that night, we'll probably sit toward the center, as the package is off to one side. I dunno, it's our first time...:wizard:

Well...I did go for the first time last year but my grandmother was in a wheel chair so we sat in the back (awesome seating) and I didn't notice anything else.
It would be really nice if we could all get close to each other....I am sure as we get closer we can see if we can plan it better

I went last year and "yes" the package people enter the arena and sit in a different area, but it is right next to the rest of us. I am sure we can meet up just prior to entering and sit close to each other :grouphug: We will have already had the POP party so we will know who we are looking for :rotfl:

YAHOOOOOOOO !!! Look at all the new Peeps  I will add you to the list:wizard: I hope you all will stick around and chat for the next few months so we can all get to know each other. I went to a party last year and it was the best, Knowing everyone before you arrived made it all that more special :grouphug:

I will update the list now.. I post it periodically but you can always find it on page one :dance3:

Good morning everyone! It's Friday!!!:cool1: :cool1:

I just checked the itinerary I made up & we are going to Fantasmic the same night as all of you, so add DH, DS & I to the list. That will be so much fun to meet up with everyone that night. It'll be like another party :)

Okay, I've got to get over to our other thread to post my weight loss for the week...not as good as I had hoped, but it's better then nothing. I'll check back in over here in just a few.
