I have made autograph books for my kids for our up coming trip and I was wondering what type of pen to use. I have Zip Markers, that are dual ended, and thought of taking thoses. I was wondering if they will be thick enough for the non face characters?
Thanks,
Barb

I brought retractable sharpies on our last trip and they seemed to work well. I would push the button for them right before I handed the pen off. I also made a quick mental note, watching the people in front of us, about which hand they used and how they held the pen.
It was cool too because I had pens that matched Cinderella's step mother and sisters dresses. Anastasia really liked it!
I carried them in a ziploc bag so if the buttons got mashed they wouldn't ruin anything else.

I am just afraid that they would be too thick (meaning the writing). I have premade books with 3.5 X4 or 4x5 autograph spaces. I was thinking of putting a foamy thing at the holding end to make it thicker (barrel of the pen). If you know what I mean.

Give me a bit and I'll scan some pics. The retractable sharpies have a finer tip than the regular ones.

Here is Piglet and Mickey, both head characters. The only head character that had problems was Eeyore, he has to hold the clipboard on his nose so it was tough for him to get it lined up right:

I used the click sharpies as well. We had no problems. They worked well because my DD didn't write on anyone! :)

We've always used plain sharpies (thin ones) which work well. Next time I may go the retractable route and get more colors. We've always heard that the characters prefer the chunkier pens, reg pens are hard to write with. If you want a ball point, they sell fat ones at the parks for around $4-5. People have reported those pens running out of ink quickly, but bring them back to any shop that sells them and they will exchange it for you.

Hi...we just got back from a wonderful WDW trip, and we used the really fat sharpies, and the sigs turned out great! The other thing that I loved was that I got a gold and silver marker and some heavier scrapbook paper (which I cut to 5x7 to fit in a book I made) in jewel tones and had the princesse's sign in the metallic colors. The sigs turned out awesome!!! ...and several characters commented on how cute the paper and markers were.
Good Luck!
