I was just looking around at marathontour.com and they state that Disney will be allowing 18,000 to run in the 15th WDW Marathon. This has to be the largest field they have allowed

Will be crowded out there:)

They also show 16,000 limit for the WDW Half. 34,000 (minus a few of us Goofy people) total runners:eek:

Speaking of how many will be running, did they really run out of half marathon medals last year? Robert, I was just reading some reports on your website and one reported that they ran out of water towards the end of the half and ran out of medals (she got one). How did they handle this? Did the runners get theirs later?

They had a lot of logistical problems last year.

They miusplaced a box of 1/2 medals so they took names and mailed them to the runners. They did find them towards the end so the last runners received theirs at the race.

I believe they did run out of water at the end of the half. I had water at all aid stations. My time was 3:21.

The marathon had lots of problems with aid for a 10 mile stretch(mile 11-21) where they either ran out(or a combo) of Powerade, water, cups, gels, bananas, and more. I had to carry one of their 32 oz bottles to make sure my DW and I had water. Not good in 85 degree heat!

Thanks for the info! I am trying to get myself mentally ready to sign up for the half and reading about them running out of stuff makes me a little nervous!

I had an hour phone conversation with Race Director Jon Hughes(he called me) after the race and I feel re-assured that this will never happen again. At least not for a long time. I am sure that he(and EMMI) took lots of heat from Disney over this. There was a huge response back to them over them running out of items. He told me they had plenty of aid but they made some mistakes getting it to the aid stations.

Sign up! I did before I left WDW in Jan:)

During this year's 1/2 the very first water stop was closing up shop when we got there (I was in Wave C). All others had supplies.

There were no medals when I crossed the finish line (3:20 chip time). However, after meeting up with our WISHers, word was out they had found more. I found some guy walking around with a box of medals and was able to snag one.
