Wonder if they would let me book the room and add in the half?

Ask Steve at EMMI (steve@emmi.com). I signed up for the 5K & full in 06 before i knew about the oofy. He helped me switch the 5K to the 1/2 so I could do the Goofy.

I sent Steve an email just to check. I'll post his response.

Thanks

I received an email from Steve:

"Since all the entries are non-refundable and non-transferable, and all the groups handle their packages totally independent of the regular registration, I cannot transfer funds. If and when you get registered with one of the groups, please contact me at disneysports@emmi.com and let me know the details. I will then look into a refund of your marathon entry."

I emailed him to ask how likely it was that I could receive a refund for my full entry fee. I'll post that, too.

Saying that they would even look into it would give me hope. Usually the answer is "No". Good luck!

Still haven't heard back on the 2nd email.

Here's the response:

If you are confirmed with a group for the Goofy entry before the marathon closes, then it is 100% guaranteed that I can get you a refund. Once the marathon closes and we are unable to fill your spot, then I cannot cancel the entry and get you a refund.

I'd like to do it but was wondering if any ladies want to share a room? I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible.

Robert: Have you used Marathon Tours & Travel before? If so, can you please share your experience with them? Thank you.

I just wanted to post an update. I have confirmed my Goofy entry!

I had seen a blurb about Marathon Tours some time ago in Runner's World so I felt comfortable dealing w/ them. One thing I didn't like was that they don't do online reservations. Everything must be sent through the mail. I even received my confirmation through the mail- thought I would at least get an email on that one.

However, everything was very speedy considering it was through snail mail. I could call or email w/ questions.

Now I'm waiting on a response re: the reimbursement for my original full marathon entry fee. I'll update as soon as I hear from my contact.

I did hear that Anthony Travel may have some entries, too.

Kiena: A quick question: how long did it take from the time you mailed your entry to Marathon Tours and Travel and the time you received your confirmation from them? Thank you.

I put my check in the mail here near Pittsburgh, PA on Friday morning. I had to call them on Wednesday to ask a question about adding a guest and the guy recognized my name (which is rather unusual) and said that I should be receiving my letter soon. It was in my box that Friday from Boston. So exactly one week. :yay:

That was pretty good I think for snail mail. I still would prefer an online system for immediate gratification!

:goofy: I got official word that my previous entry fee for the full will be reimbursed. Here's the info from Steve after I sent a copy of my Marathon Tours receipt:

That works for me. I will put your request into the system. They process refunds on a monthly basis, so it will likely happen in June.

I'm quite pleased with the whole process! I can't wait to get Goofy again! :goofy:

I have my envelope with the check for marathon Tours waiting to be mailed. Not sure which is the better deal, but a few dollars either way won't kill me. Does anyone have an opinion on which is the better, more reputable, company?

I can't speak about marathon tours, but I booked my hotel for the Minnie through Anthony travel. I don't think there is a problem with either company, so go based off of the resort that you want to stay at and total price.

Marathon Tours is reputable. We booked DH's 2007 Boston Marathon hotel reservation through them and they refunded the deposit after DH became injured and deferred his entry to 2008.
