Finally, I get to start my TR. This is something that I have been looking forward to. I am a proud military wife and we just made a PCS move to Savannah, GA. This is why it took me so long to start this report. Our cruise was orginally for May as soon as the kids got out of school. The Army made us break our plans when they told us we would PCS in March. So, we rescheduled our cruise for the middle of the move. While on the cruise, the kids had been asked several times where they were from....:rotfl2: Well, since our household goods had been picked up already and we had not moved anywhere, they really did not know what to say. Good thing I was always there to explain the situation. I am glad my kids were never asked this question on stage, I know my 9 yr old son, he would proudly say something like, "well, we do not have a home, right now we are homeless...but my sister was born in Germany." I would be saying, "whos kid is that anyway?":rolleyes1

I will start by saying that we had a very MAGICAL 7 night cruise. We had a blast. No, I am not going to write about every thing that happened, just the highlights. If not, you would be here for YEARS reading everything we did on our cruise.

our wonderful cast:
Me (Becki)
DH (Tony)
DMom (Linda)
DS - 14 (Hunter)
DS - 9 (Jonah)
DD - 6 (Destiny)

Saturday Day 1
We had stayed at a hotel about an hour away from Port Canaveral. So, we all awoke on cloud nine:cloud9: knowing today was boarding day! We made a quick stop to get my Hunter's hair cut then back on the road! As we were traveling, we were passing all the DCL buses that were taking the people to the ship from the Disney hotels. I know these people thought we were crazy. Every time we would pass one, I was smileing at them and my kids were waving at the bus. We were so excited...dont know why seeing the DCL buses made it more exciting....kinda weird now that I think about it. :lmao: Then, we saw it, the Magic. I was getting teary. I can not imagion what my Mom was thinking as she saw it. This was her 1st cruise (ever).

Boarding had already started and was very painless. I signed us in as Tony signed the kids into to the clubs. Then, we walked onto THE MAGIC.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/ScannedImage011_001-1.jpg

Notice the matching Mickey Mouse Polo shirts (that was my idea and yes, my family has gota love me). I went to change our palo reservations and dining to early seating. Both were easy to do - walk in walk out. We tried to go to Parrot Cay for lunch but it was a 30 min wait so we went to Topsiders.

After lunch, Mom watched the kids in the mickey pool while Tony and I went to the rooms. Tony, Destiny, & myself were in a room. Dmom, Hunter, & Jonah were in a room together. We decorated our room for Destiny (she was turning 6 in 2 days). And we left goodie baskets for the kids and Mom.
HINT: Do not overpack "goodies" I had worried about the kids having "suprises". They were so busy during the cruise that they never played with the toys. Basically, I packed "goodies" and then I repacked then to come home. It really was a waste. A few are ok, but when you try to pack a little something for 3 kids for 7 nights....it was too much!
Destiny did love her room decorated. I would say that was NOT a waste! http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1062.jpg

We took the kids to the sailaway party.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1088.jpg
The boys were not interested. But, Destiny LOVED it! She stayed until it was over.....man, it seemed like forever! She was front row dancing and catching all the action!
Most people left after the CM's left and handed it over to the band. Destiny still was all into it and stayed until the band was finished. Afterwards, a family came up to us, it was bkfor and his family. He had a daughter Destiny's age and they had chatted on the dis boards. They met again quiet a few times in the club and we even did the dolphin encounter with them (thats to come on cozumel day).

We had 1st seating and tonight was Parrot Cay.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1093.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1100-1.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1103.jpg

After dinner we went to the Walt Disney theatre to see ALL ABOARD LET THE MAGIC BEGIN. We always got to the theatre early so we could walk in when the doors opened. BEWARE: people will knock you over to get to the front seats. we always sat in the first few rows because I am a "picture taker" (meaning I drive my family crazy taking pics of EVERYTHING). Since you can not use flash in the threare, I needed to be close. There was 1 family whom every night pushed and shoved thier way to front row. The kids were rude and hit people in the back of the heads, shoved people and were very disrespectful. We never ran down the stairs in the theatre and still got first few rows. One night, we were not going fast enough and the mom of this certain family pushed my daughter out of her way so she could run down to the front. WOW....humm....no wonder why the kids act the way they do. Back to the show, it was great (as all the shows are on DCL).
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1119.jpg

Oh, Hunter did not go to the show with us. He left for the teen club and we never saw him again. No, just kidding. It was a rare experience to see him. Every night the waiters would ask where is he? We did make him eat with us on formal night. If you have a teenager, on a cruise, they vanish! Seriously, you will find them crashed in bed the next morning. The teen club does not open until noon. For those of you without teens, the reason for this is because they stay out until 2 or 3 am. So, they all sleep until noon!

I will be adding a few pics during this TR. But, if you wish to see more, I have uploaded about 500 or so pics from this cruise on my yahoo360 page.

You have a beautiful family. Your daughter is adorable.
I looked at most all of your pictures and was curious about the cruise you went on April 10-15, 2006. Was that on a Carnival ship? How do they compare to disney?
I was also wondering about how much of a Military dicount that DCL gave you? My son is a Marine and he loved the DCL cruise I took him on when he was 16. I'd love for him to go again.

Thanks for sharing

Thank you for the comments.
My Destiny is a :cutie: and she knows it. she is a real life princess. princess:

We have went on RCCL and Carnival. No, nothing compares to disney.

The military discounts are GREAT! Your son can get a military discount on up to 3 rooms. Military discounts are not released until about 2 months prior. Which in a way is good because we in the military can not book a year or so in advance. We never know if they will be deployed or if he can take leave. I actually had to change our cruise date 4 times. We got a really good military discount for Feb. I was so excited, we needed that vacation! The best place to keep up with the military discount is:
www.*************.com

Hope your son gets to go soon! They all need a break! Tell him we are all praying for them. Maybe, oneday, they will all be home for good! Tony knows he will deploy again around August. So, I know when he comes home we will enjoy the Eastern Disney! So, for now, I plan and we start to save our pennies.

I will start with day 2 tomorrow. My plan is to do a day of vacation TR everyday. That way I do not overload myself and you all.

Hi Becca!

Yay - another TR from our Feb 24 Western cruise! Since we never did meet that week, I am looking forward to hearing how your week was!

I hate our families never met! Its weird how I thought we would all find eachother somehow. On a ship - 7 days. The only DIS person we met was bkfor and family. After meeting, we ran into them over and over again. This is a cute pic of Destiny and Emma on formal night.

Hi Becca,

Great report and cute kids. My youngest was 5 when we PCS's from Guam to Florida. We stayed in Hawaii for a few days since that is where you have to fly through. We were at Pearl Harbor, and some man asked him where he was from. He told him he was homeless!!!! So I had to explain to a perfect stanger our whole life story. So even at 5 he thought he was funny. He was also born in Germany.

Enjoy your time in. We are now retired and I miss all the traveling.

Thanks again for the TR.

Sunday - Day 2 Key West

Today Tony, Mom, and I had a Palo reservation for brunch at 11:00. So, we ordered room service for the kids. We ordered room service many, many, many times during our cruise. We really enjoy room service. :thumbsup2 I did not eat anything because I had plans...plans to pig out in front of everyone at Palo. :goodvibes We dropped Jonah and Destiny at the clubs while Hunter went off to see some friends. We had a very nice brunch.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1152.jpg

We sampled the buffet foods
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1146.jpg

then Tony and I both ordered the omlet. YUMMY.....
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1145.jpg

But, so much for my pigging out. I was stuffed and could not finish my omlet. Sorry, I can not remember what my mom ordered. But, everything we had was tasty!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1149.jpg

We left to get the kids and start our day in Key West.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1170.jpg
YES, that is my husband! the one on the left with the "filled out red tank top." Yes, I still love him.

Our family has found that we like to plan and do things on our own time. We stay away from excursions on a cruise if we can.
HINT: Most excursions you can do on your own. You are on your own time and can come and go as you please. Plus, you save money..really usually lots of money. Before the cruise, I had made an itinerary. On Becki's itinerary today was to visit The Pirate Museum and the Aquarium.

First we walked to the pirate Museum.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1168.jpg

The boys have been to the one in Nassau and really loved it. They are really into pirates. I can say that if you are not into pirates, skip this one. The admission was $14 adults and $ 8 kids. So, even with 4 adults (teenager was adult price) and 2 kids, thats alot cheaper than the $ 30 or so per person that you would pay as an excursion.
Back to the museum, this was a waste for us girls. As soon as we entered the museum, Hunter walked up behind Destiny and said agrrr....Well, this scared her to death. :scared: So she began to "whine". Then, you come to a room where there is a head and skeleton hanging from the ceiling. Well, Destiny got a peek at the room and cried. My Mom gladly took her out of the museum. I think Mom was glad to get out of there. Like me, I am sure she was bored to tears. Like I said men and boys, it may be thier "cup of tea". But ladies and little girls, skip this one and go shopping while the boys go. Speaking of shopping, right across from the museum entrance, there is a "shop". Tony did not pay attention to the outside and wondered in while we were waiting. he was a little shocked ...it was a sex store. I am sure mom was wondering what is he doing? Why am I telling you this? Well, we also saw a little kid wonder in there and the parents have to run and get her. So, just a fair warning.

Next up the Aquarium.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1195.jpg

This we all enjoyed. The Key West Aquarium is very small compared to other Aquariums we have visited. Destiny and Jonah walked in and saw the "touch tank". They began to pick up starfish, crabs, counch, sea cucumbers, etc....
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1181.jpg

the price of admission was $10 adults and $5 children. Even though small worth the small fee.

Before long it was time to head back to the ship. Of course Destiny and Jonah wanted to swim. This is Destiny on the Mickey slide.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1211.jpg

We visited Goofy's for a wrap...once again YUMMY!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1213.jpg

Tonight's dinner was at Lumiere's.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1216.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1220.jpg

Destiny wanted to go to the club so she was not with us for dinner. The waiters were like "ok, so you lost another kid?" After dinner we went to the WD theatre to see Gary Delena (rock and roll comedy). He was funny and Jonah really enjoyed the show. So much that one morning in Topsiders Jonah asked Gary to sign his autograph book. ;) What an honor, he's right in there with Mickey and Cinderella! Destiny and Hunter loved being with thier "clubs". Jonah on the other hand, does not like to go to the club. He like to hang around with us. I dont really think it has anything to do with the clubs. I think it is just his personality. Plus, he is a "moma's boy". Shhhh...dont tell him I told you that.

Yes, table 61! That is my Mom, she is sitting in her seat she had for dinner. I loved it. what wonderful artwork! Destiny missed both dinners in Lumiere's. So, one morning we went for breakfast. I asked to be seated by the mural and they were not sitting anyone in that section. :guilty:

Thanks! Destiny has many princess dresses so she said she was going to wear one every night for dinner. I dont know if you can see it in the Cinderella pic but we even found her some "glass slippers". Once we got on the cruise, plans changed. 2 nights she was in the club during dinner. Some nights she would put the dress on just to take a pic then off it came (she did not want to wear it to the club). I thought she was adorable. Plus, next cruise she will be too old to wear them. :guilty:

He did treat us well! He was so sweet. He was trying to serve the soft served ice cream on Castaway Cay. The machine was having issues. The ice cream was way to soft so that was kinda funny.

Today Destiny awoke to presents in bed. She opened them and was so excited. Today was our first day at sea. Destiny and Jonah met and took pictures with many characters. Minnie Mouse noticed Destiny had on a shirt that said Happy Birthday. Minnie had the photographer and the CM sing Happy Birthday to her. This was sooo....cute! A little more :wizard: pixie dust!

The kids all went to the club for a little while. Mom, Tony, and I went to find the "secret veranda". It was what I expected. But, as others have said, its not much of a secret. There some people there tanning and reading. It was quiet which was nice. We took a few pics and said we would come back later. We never had the time to make it back. Funny how you say you will do things while you are planning. I was going to tan on the "secret veranda", I was going to the adult pool everyday (Mom and I went twice the whole cruise), and I was going to the adult beach on castway for awhile and enjoy thier buffet (we never even made it to the adult beach). But, I have no regrets. Just more things to look forward to on the next cruise:thumbsup2

I thought you would like to get a view of the pools on a sea day.

You do not want to see the Mickey Pool!:scared1:

After we picked Destiny up, she had fun hula hooping,

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1272.jpg

then got her hair braided.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1282.jpg

HINT: I would not advise the beads if your daughter has long, curly hair. Destiny has long curly hair (like ringlets from a perm). When she got her hair braided, the lady put beads in also. The braids were fine but over a few days, her hair tangled around the beads. A MESS when it was time to cut out the rubber bands! Also, do not forget to spray sun screen in the rows of her scalp. We sprayed Destiny often and her scalp never burned.

Before the cruise Destiny had said she really wanted to be in Animators for her b-day. I knew had had very little control over this so you can imagion how happy I was when I found out we would be! Tonight was formal night. I did tell Hunter he had to go to dinner with us tonight. Oh what fun, for a teen to hang out with the family. Oh, well, he did not no complaints. He did run and change right after dinner. The "animators color changing show" was nice and the kids kept a close eye on all the pictures. Destiny's favorite character is Ariel. She had a good view of the Ariel picture.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1283.jpg

After dinner, Stephan (our head server) came out with a b-day cake for Destiny. I think I was more excited than she was. They sang happy birthday to her. This is a picture of our servers. They were both great and very pleasing.I can not think of thier names but I will look that up soon.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1331.jpg

Tonights show was Twice Charmed. If you have not saw this one, please do! If you have little girls, they will be in heaven watching this fairy tale. It is my favorite of the shows on DCL.

What a wonderful way to end a very MAGICAL DAY. I know this is a birthday that Destiny will never forget! She was a real princess and really got the ROYAL treatment. No one can take these memories away from her. They will last a lifetime. Ok, now I sound like a Disney commercial.

up tomorrow: Grand Cayman
Sting Ray City, city tour, turtle farm, pirate night, and dwarfs

I must tell you that your daughter and mine are two peas in a pod! My DD just turned six March 15. She is so into Ariel and can not wait to see her. We will be celebrating her 1/2 birthday at WDW in Sept because she didn't get a party this year because of our trip. We also have DS that will turn 9 when we arrive at WDW on Sept 4 and then our oldest son will turn 11 the day we board the Wonder Sept 9.

Love, love the TR. Can't wait to read more.

Oh, BTW, Destiny is beautiful!

Destiny tells everyone that she loves Ariel. She wore her Ariel wedding dress on semi formal night. Its her favorite.

They do not have an Ariel out to take pics or get autographs. I dont know why. Destiny kept saying maybe we would see her in the sea. (Hey it IS A DISNEY CRUISE;) )

One of the shows does have Ariel singing in it. It must have been The Golden Mickeys.

Becca, first let me say WELCOME TO THE SOUTH......hot, muggy, "buggie", swamps, alligators, no-see-ums...etc, etc.

Enjoying your trip report, keep it coming. Ahhh, the memories...I used to have a 6 yo Princess....now she's one of those things you keep talking about...A TEENAGER....A DIVA TEENAGER to boot. So when you finish your TR, be sure and print it out and keep it in a scrapbook....then when you have a moment of nostalgia..you can go back and read it and the tears will flow...

If you need anything, call on a neighbor and I'll do what I can....just send me an email...natsmom125@aol.com......

Thanks! I loved Ft Campbell and did not want to leave but I think we might like it here. The kids can't wait until they can go to the beach. And, we are closer to Disney!

I never thought about printing out the TR and keeping it. What a great idea! My writing is not good and I have many, many mistakes (I need spell check ;) ) But, it would be nice to go back and read it.

I would like to ask a favor, will you send me an email letting me know the best beach (area)to take them to? becca_n_wa@yahoo.com

Today I had booked the Sting Ray City tour with 3 snorkle stops for Tony, Jonah, and Destiny. Jonah is the big snorkler in the family. He adores the sea and snorkling. I booked the city tour with photo stops and the turtle farm and the city called Hell for Mom, Hunter and myself. I booked these directly though Captian Marvin's. We saved rather than booking the Disney Sting Ray City excursion plus they had more snorkling stops. I do regret booking the tour through Cap. Marvin's. I will explain soon.

Of course I did not let tony take my digital camera with them snorkling. Instead, they had underwater cameras.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/scan0001.jpg

This is Jonah kissing a stinyray. By looking at the pic you can tell how "hands on" this trip is. You actually swim with the rays, touch and hold them. Tony said Destiny got into the water and was "sloshed around a little and took in a little water. (I told you she is a big drama queen). so, the rest of the trip he stayed on the boat with her. Jonah on the other hand, was the 1st in the water and the last to get out. Tony made the comment, even though he stayed on the boat with Destiny most of the time, they got thier moneys worth because of Jonah. I hate I missed it. I would have loved to have been there to see it.

Now the Island tour. Since my Mom and Hunter are not swimmers, I thought this would be something they might enjoy. When it was time for our tour to leave, we noticed that we (Mom, Hunter, and I ) were the only ones there waiting. The bus was there so I asked the driver if he was ready for us to board. He said oh no your tour does not start for another 30 minutes. Well, we waited and still he was not ready. I went inside Captain Marvins and asked when was our tour leaving. She said oh he will leave now. Well, back to the bus, and bus driver said oh no not yet. Well, by this time I was very upset. After another 30 min or so, i told the lady I was upset and either we were going on the tour or I wanted a refund. She went outside and began to argue with the tour bus driver. What it boiled down to was that since we 3 were the only ones booked for the tour, the driver was just going to make us wait for the next sting ray city excursion group and put us on the bus with them. My midset is if you take money from 1 person for an excursion, then you take that one person on the tour. Anyway, so we started our tour. But, then we had to drop of the sting ray city excursion people and pick up the group that was finshed.

Here are a few pics I took that day:

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1413.jpg

After we were on the tour it was ok. We stoped at the Rum Factory. Mom and I got off to take a few pics of the water.

Then on to the city called Hell. It is actually a city. This was very boring to us and we did not really care for it. I am a Christian and all the jokes were not funny to me. The tour driver joked about "there is a school in Hell, even a church in Hell". I just over looked him trying to be funny. We did get off to take a few pics of the rock formations.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1426.jpg

We stayed about 3 minutes and were the 1st ones back on the bus. This was on the back of the store.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1429.jpg

The turtle farm was next. We really enjoyed this stop. Well worth the trip. Good place to take any age kids. I hate that Jonah and Destiny missed this one.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1458.jpg

When we got back Tony, Jonah, and Destiny was waiting on us at Captian Marvins. Tony had been worried because we were to be back before they were. Oh, well, I had to tell him the long story. Then back to the boat.

Tonight was pirate night. Tony, Jonah, and Destiny had costumes. Hunter, Linda and I had pirate t-shirts. I had fun doing Tony and Jonah's makeup. Jonah and Destiny looked cute. But, Tony was quiet scarey. I was afraid he would scare the little kids. Before you ask, we saw only a handful of people dressed up. I think I saw only 1 other grown man dressed. Tony didnt care - I think he had fun dressing up.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1568.jpg

Destiny and Jonah were asked to be in the show. The had no idea what they would be doing. It was really cute because they ended up being Snow White's dwarfs.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1518.jpg

After the show, we went up to deck 10 to see the pirate show.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1582.jpg

We pulled up chairs close to the rail. The show did not start until 9:45. Personally I think the should try to move up the time. During the show, Jonah and Destiny were so tired that they could not enjoy it. They were both trying to stay awake. The first of the show was dancing and singing. So, when it was time for the Mickey and Cap. Hook sceens, we were getting ready to leave. The kids were too tired to care about the show. We took them back to the room for Disney Dreams. I told Tony at least one of us "needed" to make it back to the buffet. Well, that didnt happen. Just too much action for us old folks and we both crashed in the bed.

up tomorrow:
Cozumel - dolphin encounter!

becca_n_wa
04-15-2007, 04:13 PM
Today was our day in Cozumel. I had tried to book the dolphin excursion directly through the chankannab national park. I had never gotten a reply online so I went ahead and booked the excursion through Disney. Since the taxi ride and admission were included in the price, Jonah, Destiny, and I went to meet our group. Tony, Linda, and Hunter made a stop at a drug store for benydril and hydro. cream (long story- another thread). They then caught a taxi to the park. It was $10 for the 3 of them and they beat us there. When it was time for our dolphin encounter, Tony and Mom walked down the pier with us. Tony took pics and Mom recorded the encounter.
I would highly recommend the dolphin encounter or dolphin swim at this park. The trainers made sure each person got one on one time with Valerie (the dolphin).

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1606.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1603.jpg

After the encounter, we went to eat. Tony ordered the sampler plate (which was a lot of food).

Mom ordered the guacamole with a coconut water.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1653.jpg

Hunter and I ordered the fruit salad with ice cream in a pineapple (it is as good as it looks).

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1661.jpg

Jonah ordered the nachos (he did not like them). We also enjoyed non alchol pina coladas in huge pineapples.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1654.jpg

All the food was wonderful except for the nachos. While we were waiting for our food, Jonah and Destiny got tatooes. They lasted for about 2 weeks. Of course Jonah wanted a pirate and Destiny got a rose.

The rest of the day we enjoyed the park.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1629.jpg

The beach was beautiful. Destiny played in the sand with Emma. If you want a beach for the kids to swim, this is not the right beach. If you want great snorkling, this is the beach for you. Jonah had a private snorkling tour. The guy took him out and showed him all the statues and lots of fish. Jonah came back on :cloud9: . He had a blast! While snorkling, Jonah's guide dove down and took a pic of Jonah. That is another pic I will scann soon. We stayed at the park the whole day. Oh look, a picture of Hunter, that is a rare site to see. I wonder if he knew Mom took this picture?

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1680.jpg

Back on the ship, we spotted Minnie and Mickey.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1699.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1811.jpg

After dinner we went to see the movie Bridge to Terabithia. It was a new release so it was in the Walt Disney Theatre. This was the only movie we saw on the ship - I never even made it to the Buena Vista Theatre. Hunter went with some friends to see Wild Hoggs, it was also a new release. Like I said earlier, you have so much that you will want to do on the cruise. You just do not have enough time...So much FUN stuff to do, so little time.

up tomorrow:

Thank you all for the comments. I am glad you guys are enjoying the report.

Today's report will be shorter. Some of the pictures from this day are on my camera still :guilty: (memory card was full at the time - who would have guessed). I will be back on a later date to add a few.

Today was our character breakfast in Parrot Cay. This was great we (even Mom) enjoyed this.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1730.jpg

Hunter missed it cause he was still alseep and did not want to wake up :snooty: (I told you - the teen thing). I would say if your kids have not done a character breakfast - this is a do not not miss!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1742.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1707.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1705.jpg

We also decorated kites today.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1748.jpg

That was also fun. I was very suprised, not many people showed up for the kite decorating. You can sail the kites at Castway Cay. We forgot to take our kites off the ship on castaway cay day. The kids had so much fun they didnt even think about them. :thumbsup2

Tony and I had rasual reserved for 2pm. While we were at the spa, Mom and the kids enjoyed animation lessons. They drew Mickey, donald, and a few more characters. They did pretty well if you ask me. Tony and I really enjoyed the rasual.
HINT: take a waterproof watch so you can keep track of time.
After being in the steam room for awhile, you have a choice of spa products that you can use. Tony tried more products than I did.;)

The kids had graduation (celebrate the Journey) today.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1772.jpg

It was really cute. Man, there were tons of kids! My hats off to the CM's in the clubs. I have no idea how they kept that many kids in line!

Tonight was semi-formal night.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/ScannedImage001_007.jpg

Tonights show was Dreams.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1887.jpg

This was also the one I was thinking about that had Ariel in it.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1841.jpg

We also went to the Princess Gathering.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1754-1.jpg

I thought maybe Ariel would be there....so sad...:sad1: Disney, if you are listening, we want more of Ariel!

Coming tomorrow: Castaway Cay

Thanks! Glad you are enjoying it! Speaking of grandma, she has been reading this report. She emailed me and said looking at the pics makes her want to go again. She says, when can we go back? :confused3 As I said earlier, this was her first cruise. And she was so scared (of motionsickness). She had fair warning that cruising was addictive.

Today was our day in paradise! We went up to Topsiders for breakfast. This was really nice because you could walk out and see "paradise" and the Flying Dutchman.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1896.jpg

After getting off the ship, we went straight to the post office to mail postcards. Mom and I had quiet a few. Before our cruise, the kids and Mom recieved postcards from some special people. They loved them so much. We have them on our fridge now! I wanted to make sure a few people also had a little "Magic".
HINT: If you go during the school year, mail postcards back to your childs class.
We mailed postcards to the kid's classrooms that we had just moved from. Hunter even mailed one of his old teachers who loves Disney.
Guess who we saw at the post office.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1900.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/100_1899.jpg

They should have put Donald to work in the postoffice. He was a lot nicer than the guy who was working the desk.

The digital photos of Castaway are not very good resolution. Somebody (that would be me) forgot to charge the camera battery. Plus my card was full. So, I took some pictures with my Mom's Dvd recorder.

I am a planner but today, Castaway Cay, I had NOTHING planned! Just to enjoy the beach and have a wonderful time with my family. OPPSSS.. I did plan 1 little thing. I had said we would take Jonah and Destiny to the kids club on the beach for maybe like 1 -2 hours. Then, Tony, Mom, and I would go to the adult beach and have lunch there. Well, Destiny and Jonah did not want to go to the club. So, we stayed at the family beach all day. We were not upset. It was very nice. We had walked to a less crowded area and it was a very relaxing day.

Whats that Mom, a shell you are going to smuggle in your luggage?

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/HPNX0188.jpg

I thought Hunter would be with us today. Oh, well, I was wrong. He had told us that morning that he was meeting friends at the Teen Beach. At lunch, we saw him at a table with his friends (pretty far away). I wanted to go hug him and say hi. But, Tony said no, dont do that to him. So what? I am his Mom. Funny thing is that my Mom agreed. So, no, I did not end up emberassing my teenager. I have a feeling it is only beginning. :scared:
I know Hunter had a blast at the Teen Beach but I do wish he would have hung out with us. But, then again, he would have been bored to tears. He does not swim or tan. And, that is what we did all day. At the Teen Beach, they did activites all day. I am so protective of all 3 of my kids. We keep them on a short leash at home. I guess vacation on a Disney cruise is a good time to let Hunter be a teen and do it in a safe manner. :woohoo: One night while looking in shutters, Tony said "look what I found". I was so happy he found this photo! Hunter is missing out of all the photos because he wasn't there with us. Thanks shutter's I needed that! Proof that he WAS ON THIS CRUISE!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/ScannedImage009_008.jpg
Hunter is on the right.

Destiny and Jonas built a sand castle.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/HPNX0199.jpg
I cant seem to get this pic to rotate! Oh well, sorry!

Of course Jonas had a princess locked away in it. princess: Then he built a moat so no one could rescue her. Wonder if he was imagioning that Destiny was the princess he was locking up? After all, he IS the middle child (I hear it all the time) and Destiny DID get the bigger room when we moved (it's bigger than mine also).

Tonight Destiny was wearing her Minnie Mouse dress.:earsgirl: She took pictures before dinner. She walked onto this white paper and the photographer asked her to take off her shoes. Well, these were matching Minnie Mouse shoes. Destiny started walking away.:snooty: she was not going to take off those shoes! It was too cute. The photograher asked her to come back and she could leave the shoes on.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m10/beccatony/000_0166.jpg

We went to see the last show Remember the Magic. Once again top notch! Bad thing was that Destiny did not realize that the cruise was over until this point. After the show she began to cry. She was so sad this was the last night of our cruise. In tears, she asked me, "we will come back again right?" Yes, I had tears in my eyes. When one of my kids cry, I cry. I cant help it. So, I am trying to hold back tears and tell her of course we are coming back! I tried to distract her by saying, lets go look at your pics you took tonight. They were so cute. She was still teary so we had to head to the room. :sad1: I had planned on taking the kids to the "till we meet again" gathering. There is no way Destiny could have made it though that!

Last night. Our vacation is over......tomorrow we go home. If I hide somewhere on the ship, do you think my family would notice I was not in the van for the ride home?

Thank you - that means so much. I am glad someone was trying to read all my rambling and misspelled words! ;) Seriously, this was our first Disney cruise and I remember when I was looking forward to my cruise. Really enjoyed your TR. Seems like you guys had a great time!

BTW - I understand your feeling about the Pirate night festivities but as someone who had a late dinner seating (and not even the last one), we barely made it up to the party. By the time we got there, it was really crowded and the kids couldn't get near the stage. Remember, last dinner seating is 8:30 which only leaves an hour and fifteen minutes for them before the party starts. And forget about eating anything at the Pirate's buffet!!!:lmao:

I am so glad you guys enjoyed the TR!

For those of you sailing soon, I hope you have a MAGICAL cruise!

About the late nights and pirate party in particular, Destiny's bedtime at home on school nights is 8:00 and that was central time. So, we moved up an hour to eastern time. She was just "pooped" every night. I feel for the people who live on the west coast! There is no way we could have made it through a late seating dinner!

Yes, the formal night pics, you would think we were twisting his arm trying to get him to smile;) Reminds me of the RCCL commercial. You know where the mom is searching, she knows its there, waiting to get a pic of her teen daughter smileing. Who ever made that commercial had a teen for sure! They were right on the money!

Absolutely loved reading your TR!! :thumbsup2 You have me curious about the dolphin excursion now... 1- Why isn't it a good beach for kids swimming? 2- What time did you do the excursion? I'm thinking if it was done early enough in the day, maybe we'd have time to go to another kid-friendly-swimming beach? It's so hard to figure out when you've never been there before!!

Thanks for taking the time to share your report, it really was great! Now that your Mom is addicted to cruising, maybe she will take everyone on the DCL for a Christmas present! ;)

1.) The beach was rocky and very wavy. You had to walk down slippery steps into the water. When you got into the water, it was too deep and rough for smaller kids. One second I was walking and another I stepped and would be way over my head. My DD (6) went in once or twice, with a life jacket on and I still had to hold on to her. DS (9) loves snorkling and had a blast on his personal tour. So, older children that can swim well, might enjoy this beach but this water is not for the younger crowd (IMHO).

On the brighter side, the actual beach was georgous (the tropical sceen). :cool2: The kids did have fun playing in the sand and it was very clean and relaxing.

2.) If I were you, I would book the earliest dolphin excursion and stay the day at the park. You will enjoy it and you can take your younger children to the pool when they want to swim. Yes, I think I forgot to mention, the park has a nice pool area. Our excursion was at 10:00 so we enjoyed the park until about 4:30 or so.

As far as a cruise for Christmas, I am already planning our next cruise...I just don't have the dates yet. DH leaves for Iraq (3rd time around:sad2: ) the 1st week of July for at least 15 months. So, we hope to cruise on his R&R (if he gets one). If not, we will go when he gets home. And yes, my addicted mom is going to be the first one on the boat!

Thought I would add these pics. They are of my DS(9) snorkling at Chankanaab National Park. The pictures are small because they were taken with a water camera and I had to scann them.

Jonah snorkling on the surface. His guide dove deep into the water to take these pics. I love it! Jonah was on cloud nine that day.

I had also added the pic of Jonah kissing the sting ray on the captian marvins sting ray city tour (Grand Cayman day). Once again, it is a water camera pic that has been scanned. So, not the best quality but you get the picture.

Those of you that have already read the report, and do not want to go back through to find the pic, here it is:

I am loving your reports! Thanks so much for sharing your vacation with us...you have a beautiful family. As a USMC wife I can understand how excited you must have been for this trip. It is hard to schedule things when the government is moving your family around. My 8th grader loves to tell people he was born in Okinawa, Japan!:goodvibes Military kids are so adaptable and friendly. I hope you have a great time in Savannah!

Hi, loved the trip report! We're planning the same cruise for May/08, and our girls will be almost 6 and almost 8 at the time, so I'm very interested in the info about your DD especially. I have a few questions about the excursions if you don't mind:

For the dolphin encounter, you mentioned booking an early time and staying at the park for the day...is there an admission price to the park, or would that be included with the dolphin encounter price?

Did your DD have any fear of the dolphin? My girls can be a little fearful of animals sometimes (but they love Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, etc, so they are definitely not chickens!) I'd love to do the dolphin encounter, but it would be disappointing if they were scared. What was your experience with that?

Thanks :)

If you do the excursion through Disney, the entrance fee to the park and cab rides are included.

YOu can also book the excursion directly through the park online. If you do that, you will have to pay the entrance fee and your cab ride (cab was $10 for 3 people).

As far as being afraid, no way, I cant see how any child would be afraid of the dophin. They are so well trained and kind animals. YOur DDs will love them!

Pocajaz, thought I would add a few more dolphin pics for you.

Dont worry about your daughters they will have fun...our dolphin Valerie even sang "twinkle twinkle little star".

Have fun on your trip!

Thanks! You're so nice for posting the additional dolphin pictures. I think we'll do the dolphin excursion for sure. I'm going to try and limit the number of excursions, since I'm trying to make this a "slow down and relax" type vacation as opposed to the last two years at WDW!! We'll see. ;) But it's good to know which excursions shouldn't be missed.
