View Full Version : So you think Labor Day weekend will be packed?
We have two rooms booked at CSR Sept 10-15 and dining - will try to get free dining applied tomorrow.
But I thought MAYBE I could switch to be there over Labor Day weekend - kids would miss less school - and then DH and I could plan another trip, just us, September 22 to 30th...
But if with Labor Day weekend and free dining the crowds are going to be horrendous, I don't even want to try that.

I was wondering the same thing. I will be @ CSR Aug 31-Sept 10. I believe that Sat/Sun of Labor will be crazy. We will not go into the parks those days.
August 30th – September 3rd --- okay previous years they have held this out of Coronado Springs and Last year it was out of Beach and Yaht club resorts.
This year it is out of the Gaylord and it inlcudes a choice of tickets - disney, universal, seaworld.
My daughter worked down in Disney in 2005 and said that Labor Day weekend was PACKED -- lots of Florida residents fill the parks since its the official start of 'low tourist' season and then there is a bunch of the Tom Joyner Family reunion groups. There are special events planned but I think most of them are not in the Disney Parks this year....
You will have fun for sure tho. I have been down there at Easter and in July and August Peaks - always fun.

I've been there at that time during the past 4 years. The crowds thin out significantly on Monday as people return home. We arrive on Sunday and just kick back until Monday afternoon when it starts becoming almost vacant for the week(in comparison with summer)!

I was there Labor day weekend 2005 on FD and the Tom Joyner thing was going on. The worst was MK on the weekend. Other than that is wasn't too bad.

We went last year and to be honest the crowds were not that bad. We avoided MK on Monday but Saturday (Epcot) and Sunday (MK) were not bad at all.
If you can squeeze in another trip I say go for it.

We went last year over labor day. It was crowded, but very manageable. Certainly not as crowded as the peak times. I'm hoping to talk my husband into going back this year for labor day. We leave in 2 weeks for a May trip, so I think I may have to wait until after that before doing the hard sell again. It took a while to convince him to go in May. lol

My husband and I went last year from Thursday to Sunday and i didn't think it was crowded at all...even with Tom Joyner wknd and free dining. In fact we saw lots of people walk up and get dinner reservations with no problem, even at Le Cellier! So no, it wasn't crowded to us. :goodvibes

We went last year over Labor day weekend and it was packed on Saturday and Sunday. Monday improved a bit and Tuesday was lower crowds.

The touring plans crowd level number seems quite manageable to me. :confused3 Hope they are right!

My AAA agent told me that it is better to arrive on Labor Day when most people are leaving.

We went last year from 8/27-9/3 and that last weekend was labor day weekend. It was jam-packed!!!! Or maybe we were just spoiled by the light crowds earlier in the week :rolleyes1

I went last year 8/27 - 9/2 and it was wonderful. We left the Sat and I will say that my DH and I did notice that the crowds in the Magic Kingdom were much greater than it had been all week. That said we did fantasy land in no time at all! There were no lines until aound 12pm so if you wake up early and get to the parks for opening during the weekend I think you will get to do alot.

We went last year during labor day weekend and It didn't seem all that crowded to me the worst park was the MK. Before we left my husband and I went to black America web and printed the tjms family reunion schedule and went to opposite parks to avoid the crowds worked great

Touring plans dot com is the Unofficial Guide's website. They maintain a crowd calendar (rated 1 through 10) based on the anticipated peak wait times for headline attractions. They post for free the next 30 days, but to get September's, you'd need to pay the $6.95 subscription fee which I think is a good value considering you also get lots of touring plans. Suffice it to say though, Labor Day's expected crowd level, as I said initially, seems manageable.
