Stay in Santa Monica or Huntington Beach?

I am trying to decide where to stay next week. I like the hotel better in Huntington Beach AND it is cheaper! But I am concerned with the location in relation to Hollywood. We plan to go to Hollywood to sightsee for a day. Should I just not worry about the drive since it will only be for one day? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'd stay in HB. the ride to Hollywood isn't that bad and HB is a nicer area.
