I don't want to use the AAA travel agent as I think I can do as good a job...but it looks like there will be no other discounts for our Oct trip...can I get the room portion AAA discount if I call reservations myself?

Yes, you can get a room-only reservation through WDW with your AAA discount. If you want a package, only the AAA agent can book that with their discount. We just booked a package and there are some extra perks you get with AAA doing the whole thing, plus we just wanted to try to dining plan this time.

Remember, their rooms are typically at 90%
occupancy rates and higher. Unfortunately, they
have the attitude that if a caller isn't willing to
pay a full Rack Rate, then next caller will.

Either you or any travel agent can secure a room only reservation with a AAA discount. Disney has a longstanding relationship with AAA and this is one of the perks offered to AAA members.

so I haven't had enough coffee yet today...

to be clear if I want room, tickets, and dining with AAA discount (on room only portion I believe) I will need to go through AAA?

my only hesitation about doing it with A AAA agent is that if a discount does come up later...free dining extended, room discount ( I know that I am dreaming) then I would have already been locked in with the AAA agent who may not be able or want to get me the other dicount if it comes up...am I making sense?

Yes, if you want to book anything other than room only with a AAA discount, you will need to call AAA. If a package, etc comes available, you just call your agent and they can have the special applied to your ressie. I just did that yesterday when free dining came out. My AAA agent took care of it for me with no problems. And as another poster said, you get some additional perks from booking a AAA package. Good luck!

Huh? :confused3 Disney has always been willing to offer any discount or code I may have. The answer to your question is YES, Disney is more than willing to apply your AAA discount on to your room reservation. Just let them know you are a AAA member and they will do the rest for you.

Generally AAA package rate will be cheaper than the Disney package...ours was about $250 this year (that was before free dining came out). When free dining comes out, you lose the AAA discount, but get the free dining and still keep all of the AAA package extras.

What perks did you get thru your agent. Just curious to see what I am missing. WE just booked our November trip and we saved about 600.00 on 10 of us. We did a package that is why we went thru AAA.
