View Full Version : South West DIS Meet May 2007

Ok folks, we've set a date for this years South West Meet.
Or should I say 'we've nearly set a date'.
It's going to be the weekend of the May bank holiday, but we can make it either for Saturday 26th May or Sunday 27th May, whichever suits people best.
It will be held in a venue in Tetbury (my home town). The exact location will be decided when we know how many are coming.
There is a lovely room we can hire if enough people are interested. It's owned by a local man who goes to India often and runs a business importing and selling Indian arts and crafts. Consequently the room is decked out with rugs, carpets, sofas etc. There are also some pretty bedrooms available as well, so if anyone wants to stay the night this would be ideal.
Have a look here for details - http://www.talboyshouse.com/
There is a kitchen available so we could do food there too.
If there are not enough of us to make this viable, I can find another location.
So, if you are interested, post here as soon as possible and I'll start planning. :cool1:

I think you may have to count us out this time round Kev. Unfortunately, my lovely hubby is off on resettlement for 6 weeks starting 13th May so won't be around and I'm not sure I'll feel like coming on my own :sad2:

A few questions,
Are children welcome? is there a train station nearby?
If so we may be able to come if it is a sunday.

It's looking like Sunday is more popular. Sorry Jen!
Angel - I think we have to make a decision by the end of next week so we can sort out a venue.
Joh - That's a shame. Guess we'll have to see you all at the GGG meet.
Wideeyes - Children are very welcome. The nearest station is Kemble, which is about 6 miles away. I can certainly pick you up from the station, but you would need to get a taxi back as I'm afraid I will have had a small drinky-poos by the end of the day. Maybe another friendly Disser could do the return journey?

have just looked up the train times etc for the sunday, is 14:00 ridiculously late to get to the station at Kemble? and I'd have to leave again at 18:50, is there anyone else travelling by train and if so do you want me to get you times? cheapest tickets etc? and maybe we can share cabs to and from the station.

So Kev not having attended a Tetbury meet before, what is the plan, bring plates of food ( good news if Tam and debs cooking anyways:thumbsup2 not so sure if you and Matt are in the kitchen)and plenty of booze or any good takeaways local? This I guess if , numbers permitting,we hire the Talboyhouse room.

Hi Tony
I'm not sure on the exact details yet, all will be finalised when we meet up with Deb and Matt next week.
What exactly is wrong with me and Matt doing the cooking? We can rustle up a mean beans on toast. Vomit buckets will be provided.

KevAssume we are deciding this Sunday morning, or, are we not drinking Sat afternoon? Any chance we'll spend a few hours in Swindon and you'll get home in a fit state to conclude such matters:rotfl2:

There will be several opportunities to discuss the DIS Meet. During pre-match drinkies, half time drinkies, apres-match drinkies or returning-home-to-loving-women drinkies. If a decision comes out of this process, we may well be holding the meet in Istanbul!
For those that don't know, I am taking Matt to watch the mighty Swindon Town on Saturday afternoon. I can only hope that Matt does not express his opinion that 'all footballers are poofs' too loudly during the game or we may see Saturday evening from the A&E department of Swindon hospital! :scared1:

Isn't it a sold out home match for Swindon? In that case, I may well upset two old guys and a dog but I reckon we can take 'em Kev:rotfl2:
