Hi January 13th cruisers,
Would anyone like to meet? I am Teri 36, hubby-Rick age 41. Let me know your opinions as to when and where. We will be arriving at the cruise terminal around 10:30. We are staying at Dolphin on the 11th and 12th.

We are: Rich (38) Kendra (35) Chantel (6) Graham (4)...inlaws Ken & Nedra (both 63)

It would be nice to say hello...how 'bout sometime in the late afternoon when the ship is getting ready to sail?

Sounds good to me. I guess we will wait to see if we have anymore responses, then we can pick a time and place to meet. I am so excited. I can't wait to go. it will be nice to say hello to people from the board. I plan on wearing my lanyard with my cruise pins to the terminal. I guess I will be easy to spot. My hubby and I also plan on getting in line early. We will be the ones in front of you. HA HA. If it was up to hubby he would camp out in front of the terminal the night before. I guess we are a little bit too excited. See you all soon.

Hi Kendra, Lesli, and Bonnie,
If you have any ideas of where and when let me know. The last Meeting we attended was during the sail away party near the band. It was so loud that we could not talk to each other. Would you rather meeet before the lifeboat drill or after during the sailaway party. So far all of us are planning on getting to the terminal early. Maybe we should all wear a certain color ribbon to recognize each other. I know lime green is the normal color for this board. Any thoughts???? We have 1st seatting for dinner by the way.

I am pretty social...my dh just rolled his eyes when he saw this post that I was going to meet you all...he just isn't like me! Let me know...I really don't have a preference. We are 2nd seating.

Hi Teri, Kendra
I really don't care when we meet or where, you give me the
degrees south/north and east/west and I'll be there. I don't think
I will be hard to spot. 1 old lady with three teenagers towering
over her. I can also where my pin lanyard or green. just let me
know.
Can't wait. Bonnie :wave:

Tluvs2talk

Well, I think it would be great for evryone interested in meeting to wear a lime green ribbon. If this color is too hard to find let me know and we can make a change. I will also have on my lanyard with my cruise pins. If you see me at the terminal please feel free to say hello. I know it will be crazy right when boarding getting settled, lunch, and ressies. I think right after the lifeboard drill over near Pluto's Dog House. This is deck 9 aft. There are lots of tables here and it would be a little less noisy than right by the band at the pool. If anyone has a better idea please feel free to respond. I am so excited, we leave 8 days from today. We are having not normal for coastal SC snow and sleet here today. I am dreaming of Caribbean music, warm breezes and a Konk cooler right now. See you all soon.

Disney people are crazy! I mean that in a good way. You all are getting me sooo psyched to go. I have been anxious about getting there on time. Unfortunately our flight does not get in from NYC until 10:30 or so. I wish now I had booked the flight a day or 2 earlier.

We are Noree(36), Bob (37 turnign 38 ont th 15th on the cruise), Liam (7), T.J.(5) and our little Cinderella Princess Mairead(3). I know I have a lime green tank top! If I don't get a ribbon I will wear that or both.

Can't wait !:pinkbounc :bounce: :pinkbounc :bounce:

Hi Teri!
Glad you mentioned getting ready--what are you packing? I am not sure what the daily cruise attire is. I know that dinner should be a little more formal than at the resorts. Someone suggested told me that even the kids should wear pants to dinner.

Are you planning ahead for any shore excursions? I am really not that interested--I don't want to miss anything the cruise has to offer.

Tluvs2talk
01-04-2002, 06:03 AM
nezy,
I can tell you DON"T PACK TOO MUCH!! I am bringing 1 dressy outfit for Palo's, a basic black skirt that I will wear at least twice to Dinner with different tops, and a pair of velvety pants with a glittery top. Don't forget bathing suits. I also used the fabric over the door bag suggested on this board on our last cruise and loved it. It was great for keeping everything organized. I have been charging the batteries to my camcorder and getting new batteries for my regular camera. As far as excursions Hubby and I are going to go to Atlantis and play in the casino. This is a beautiful resort and we have been there once. We don't plan on any massages, just Palo's once. We also are bringing our 2-way radios, they are great for the ship. We always knew where the other one was on the ship.

Hi all:

I will be doing the Land and Sea package as well staying at the Dolphin on the 10-13th of January with my girlfriend. I have the Disney Transportation. Any idea what time they normally pick up to take us to the terminal and will they pick up at the hotel? Also, I assume they take care of the luggage as well?

I would love to meet up as well! Breakfast on Sunday morning?

ajmedic,
I'm not sure what time the transportation picks up at the Resort, they will give you a place and time when you check- in. I won't be able to meet Sunday for breakfast as we are leaving early for the terminal. We like to get there early to take picture's and unwind before the crowd starts. Maybe we will see you at the Terminal or at Pluto's after the lifeboat drill???

I was thinking about bringing a "velvety" thing, being that it is January. However January in the Bahamas is different than January in New York> I figured that w/the Ocean Breezes and A/C the velvet may actually be more approprate. My concern is more with the kids--but if Ipack a few nice polos and sweaters for the boyw w/khakis, they will be fine.

What are the chances of finding a lime-green velvet dress? (HA!HA!)
THE WHOLE FAMILY WATCHED THE CRUISE VIDEO TODAY.DH and I had tears in our eyes--ok we were bawling! Sentimental saps we are!

I do believe that it was you who said " Disney People Are Crazy"
You are officially now a Disney person. Ha ha. Everytime the Disney commercials come on I get excited. Wait until you cruise. You will never be able to hear " When You Wish Upon A Star" Again without thinking about the cruise.

Teri-
I AM IN GOOD COMPANY!!!

Can you tell me what the deal is with the "refillable mugs". I am sure it is already discussed somewhere on these boards. I thought that all non-alcoholic drinks were included and only alcohol was extra. Why would we need a refillable mug?

Thanks.:bounce: :pinkbounc

Tluvs2talk
01-05-2002, 09:14 PM
The refillable mugs are for unlimited soda all day. You do get soda free with your Lunch and Dinner in the restaurants.They also have juice, tea, coffee, water free all day at the buffet station. We bought a mug last cruise but did not really get our money out of it. We are bringing a 12 pack of coke with us on this trip, and that should be all we need. I think the mugs are $21.00 on the 4 day.

chasing the rambunctous 20 month old around in the terminal! We have Happy Limo picking us up at 11:00am so I think we should be there 12:15ish, in time to board without having to spend too much time waiting around. We will look for all those lime green ribbons, it will be fun meeting everyone from the board! We leave on Tues on Amtrak which should be loads of fun in itself and arrive in WDW on Thurs morning. We can't wait! See you soon,

nope, we are sailing with you! We leave Tues on AMtrak, arrive at the Wilderness Lodge on Thursday and sail Sun:D I went to Target today adn bought Gracie a few little t-shirts and the cutest pink dress and now I am trying to get the laundry done. How a little family of three (well, only three who actually wear clothes!) can generate so much laundry is beyond me! I am going a little nuts because my DH has to work right up until we leave so I am trying to pack while Gracie is trying to unpack! See you and everyone else VERY soon!

Hi Rebecca (mrsv98),

We are only a few hours from you...wondering...how did you decide on Amtrak? We are flying from Detroit directly to Orlando on Thursday and checking in at Wilderness Lodge too! Did you do the land/sea package as well?

We might run into you at the Lodge...we will be the ones looking worn out...we have an energetic 6 & 4 yr. old! Hopefully, between Mom(me)/Dad & 2 grandparents we can keep track of them!

If we don't see you at the Lodge will see you on Sunday at the cruise...I just bought my lime green (it's sort of lime green) ribbon at Wal-Mart today! Cost was 6 cents...the lady at the counter looked at me kind of funny when I ordered it!!!!

See you soon!

Well, my husband was never a big fan of flying, being 6'3" makes sitting in an airplane seat very uncomfortable and since 9/11 we can't bear the thought of Gracie flying (tho I did fly to Vegas and back in late Sept.) Since we have the only baby in the universe who will not sleep in a moving car, driving for 2 or 3 days was also unappealing. That left Amtrak and I think it will actually be a lot of fun. It only takes 2 days, no more than driving, but Gracie will be able to get up and walk around and play. We have a sleeping compartment on both trains (Chi- Was DC...Was DC-Orl) so we will have private space to spread out. We have a layover in DC both ways but that will be nice since we can explore a bit. In fact, coming home, we have about 5 hours, so if the weather is nice we can go to the National Zoo and see the Pandas and if it is crummy, we can go to the Captial Children's Museum which is right around the corner from the train station.

We did the 7 day land/sea also. I think next time I will probably book everything separately, but for the first trip, I believe the package is the way to go. The Wilderness Lodge looks AWESOME and we can't wait to get there! You are lucky to have grandparents going with you, maybe you can actually have some "grown-up" time! What time do you arrive in Orlando? The train gets in at 11:50 am so I figure we will be at WL by about 1pm.

I confess I haven't had time to look for ribbon, but I will see what I have around the house. See you on Thurs!

so, I may be getting a bit ahead of myself, but when does everyone plan on using their $99 vouchers for the fall?

Gracie sounds like she keeps you busy. I'm sure there will be enough to keep us ALL busy on the cruise.

I am interested in doing some excursions--perhaps the glass bottom boat, or swimming w/dolphins. Does anyone know if it is better(i.e. cheaper) to try to book something on your own after you arrive or to go w/ the ship's excursions?

Also, is there parasailinf on castaway cay?

Hey everyone, I'm getting so excited!

What to pack?? I have sweatshirts and zip off pants for the boys. My 13 year old wears shorts now and it has been in the 20's here so he should be fine. I want to take some capri pants but I like to wear them with sandals and it might be a bit cold for that. This is the bad part of vacation, trying to pack! We leave in 5 days. I can't wait to be on the ship.

Teri, thanks for the weather update. I hope they are right Let's see, next week I will be at the Atlantis, sitting on a lounge chair in the sun on the beach, drinking a pina coloda! It doesn't get much better than that!

Disney Dreamer,
I also looked up the weather for Orlando. Looks like high middle to lower 60"s lows in middle 40's. You can look at www.weather.com for updayed info later in the week.

Hubby and I are also going to Atlantis. We are going to play in the Casino and shop. When we cruise in the Fall we plan on booking a room so we can play in the pools. It is getting close now. Can't wait.

We booked a room at Comfort Suites so I hope it will be warm enough to swim. DH and I went to Atlantis last March and it is wonderful! Our kids are fish so they should enjoy it! Are you cruising in the fall on the $99 deal? I am trying my darndest to talk DH into it! That would be our 5th trip to Orlando in 2 years so I don't know how far I will get with him!

Nezy,

Re: excursions - we have booked the glass bottm boat in Freeport for my inlaws. This excursion had some good posts about it and my TA said it's fun for the young kids too.

The dolphin encounter in Freeport I have read mixed messages about. I personally looked into booking it myself (w/o DCL) and I could've saved some money, but I would have had to deal w/ getting there. All the Disney excursions have transp. included and since I am going w/ 2 young kids and in-laws it was easier (and sometimes cheaper) to not deal w/ a taxi.

We did book the Dolphin encounter in Nassau. Again, I could've booked that on my own and saved some money, but I really wanted to stay at the Blue Lagoon Island after the swim. It sounds like a nice beach. However, if I booked the encounter directly w/ Dolphinswims.com then the transportation leaves immediately after the encounter.

I researched this thing a lot...if you have any questions email (but do it soon...we leave for WDW on Wednesday!) See you on the ship!

Liz,

I never heard of Dublin, OH before, but a couple years ago a family we knew from Battle Creek moved there. In the off chance...do you know the Gary & Lauren Jones family? We have a DD-7 DS-5...maybe our kids will see each other.

AJ- We are using ********.net as our transportation. We have them for the 3 legs of the trip (airport to WL to Port to airport) and they were the cheapest...as well as...well reviewed. If you want to get to the boat quicker ...call and get a quote on just that one leg to the Port.

Hi All,
I bought my lime green ribbon at walmart tonight. Hubby(Rick) and I will be wearing them all day Sunday, until dinner.

Lesli, Yes we will be taking advantage of the $99.00 fall cruise special. Right now we are discussing October. We originally were booked for June and were bringing my 12 year old Niece and 9 year old Nephew with us. Then we read about the deal for January cruisers and called DCL, we can bring Niece and Nephew in Fall for $99.oo with us. So to make a long story short, we are cruising twice for almost half of what we were going to pay in June. The kids price in June was almosy $500 each.

AJ, A lot of people on thie site really like Happy Limo Here is a link to a site that will give lots of information. These 2 people have been on over 17 Disney cruises, www.*****************
They also have menu's and Navigator's on their site.

hi to all !
i am sure many of you are preparing to leave today , tomorrow or the next day. We do not leavy NY until Sun. a.m.. Ihope all have their lime green ribbons---if not just string some limes together around your neck--I am sure you will be noticed !(I am getting punchy!!! So much to do in the next few days.)

Anyway, RE: $99 Fall cruise, am I to understand Teri that if you are traveling with someone else they too can get the same price? Is this only if they are in the same cabin? We are travelling in a Cat. 4 this time and would like to next Fall however my in-laws may be joining us next Fall but not on 1/13. Is there any way to book 2 cabins, even in a lower category for the $99?

I am looking forward to meeting you all.--I'll be looking for Gracie, 11month old, twin 5year olds and a 3year old, a woman travelling with 2 teens, a couple who will be the first to arrive and have lanyards and pins, and many DCL experts all with lime green ribbons.

Everyone please have a safe trip and a great time in Disney World!

Noreen,
Disney Cruise Line told us that One of us . (My Husband our I )had to be on actual Fall cruise, since we are the ones sailing in January. The deal is only for up to 4 in a room. Below is a thread Webmaster Michelle started that might help with a 2 room deal
`````````````````````````````````````````````````` ``
The details for the January cruisers:
During the month of January, guests who sail on a 4- or 7-night cruise will receive a letter and vouchers in their stateroom offering them the opportunity to return in the fall on a 3-night cruise for just $99 per person for Categories 4-12, based on availability. Guests will receive another voucher in their stateroom offering their friends and family the opportunity to book a cruise in the fall for $419 per adult for Categories 11-12. Both vouchers must be mailed to Disney Cruise Line along with the initial deposit before March 30 to book the offer. The applicable sail dates are from 9/5/02-12/19/02, excluding 12/20/02. This offer will replace the current onboard offer for the month of January.
Hope that is helpful to the January cruisers.
