Water skiing in Orlando

Has anybody ever tried water skiing through Disney? Or have you tried any of the surrounding "water ski parks?" I'm a huge water skiier from the midwest who recently moved to Orlando, and the thought of skiing in a Florida lake (gators!?) scares me. I'm just wondering what people's water skiing experiences have been like with Disney or at the water ski park... the ski park sounds incredibly intriguing!

I'm not sure but we met a friend while playing paintball at WWoS at the Park that pulls you around on the overhead cable .

He said it was fun as anything he has ever done behind a boat . We arrived as he was finishing so didn't really get a chance to see how it worked but it did look neat.
