Yes, it is possible. I don't know about all the resorts, but I know that at VWL it is a booking category not just a request. I also requested a dedicated for the same reason you mentioned about the kids.

Yes, at the resorts that have dedicated 2 bedroom units it is a booking category, not a "request."
