universal mastercard question

Does anyone know what kind of discounts do you get on purchases either inside the park or at universal resort hotels? I found something on mousesavers which mentioned 10% off Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, Bob Marley - A Tribute to Freedom, Motown Cafe, CityJazz, Pat O'Brien's Orlando, Pastamore, NASCAR Cafe and Latin Quarter but there is no mention of this anywhere else including the universal website or the credit card website which only mentions eaning double points for purchases made with the card.

I think I was misunderstood....I meant purchases made with your chase "universal" mastercard. I read on mousesavers that there were 10 % food discounts when you use this exact credit card at select restaurants yet I do not find this information anywhere else on this forum, or at the creditcard website or even on a web search. Just trying to verify if you get a discount on anything.

Thats the MasterCard deal when you buy the $85.99 7-day tickets.
Dont know about the general Mastercard % off discounts.

i can answer your question.

i have had the universal master card for 4 years.
show it when you make any purchase for food or merch. you get a 10% discount on all your purchases.
show it when you order food or before the clerk rings up a purchase.

even if you decide to pay cash for a bottle of water, show the mc and they give you the discount. you can pay cash for that small amount.
cc are not taken at some of the carts but you will get the discount.

Do you have the hard copy or was it mailed to you e.g could a copy be used to get the free discount book for other people?

cjc, the "voucher" picture is NOT a hard copy that was sent to me. I ordered the M/C $85.99 7-day ticket special directly from Universals website. In a confirmation page, they included a "copy" of what the voucher looks like. You can pick up the coupon booklet at Universal, when you show them your confirmation e-mail "voucher". They do not send out a hard copy, that I am aware of.At least thats how the confirmation reads.

someone scanned and posted a picture of the coupon that is to be redeemed on another thread. it is blue this year.
check the other thread in this forum to get a look at it.

my coupon shows the 3 on site hotels as i went thru the link of a postcard for mine.

Are there any exceptions to getting the 10% discount...as in major restaurants, shops, etc that don't participate? Is it in the parks, Citywalk and the three hotels?
My kids really want to eat at Bubba Gumps!

all the resturants in the parks honor AAA and the AP
city walk has many that do so also. if you see the AAA emblem in the front of the store, in the window, you are good to go.

i always tell people to let the waitress know you have AAA in case you don't see the emblem in the front of the place.


bubba gump opened after i came back from last years trip. don't know about them but show your card as they might participate.

carts might be the only place that do not honor the cards.
last year, one cart said they don't accept aaa so i went to the next cart for bottled water and they did accept aaa for the discount.

yes, i use my card even if the cost of the item is $2.50

Sounds like I should carry around my Chase Universal card and my AAA and flash them whenever we order food or buy something!

And its the room key/FOTL pass you show at Citywalk restaurants to get next available seating, right?? I'm hoping that works at Bubbas!

room key gets you priority seating.
i carry my universal mc, aaa, ap and room key with me all the time.
i put them in a zippered universal lanyard.

i'm queen of cheap. i use all the discounts......:cool2:

macraven, Can you combine discounts? Surely not. We are Universal MC holders and were considering purchasing one AP for the dining and hotel discounts. If you get them with the MC I will just buy the Power pass.

you can't combine discounts.

i had the universal mc first and used it for food discounts.
it is not valid for room on site hotel discounts.

then i bought the AAA which had more perks for discounts. 10 % off hotels, tickets, food, merch, etc.

then i bought the PAP to get higher discounts of 20% in the parks, and free parking.
this year the discounts for ap holders have decreased to about the level of AAA discounts.

you can use the mc for the dining discounts but not for hotels.
the preferred annual pass/PAP is valid for food, merch and hotel discounts and free parking at the garage.

the power pass has black out dates and no discounts for hotels, food, etc.

for more discounts, buy only 1 ap for the group for room discounts.
you can use the mc for the park dining and merch discounts.

or you can buy the AAA and use that for all discounts. 10% off for food, merch and hotel

in the chgo area, my cost for AAA is $54 a year.
i use it for other hotels, flat tires, running out of gas, etc.
