Hi all

DH and I will be at the HRH during one of the upcoming Velvet Sessions. Has anyone been to one before and could share some thoughts? We are thinking of going but would like to hear opinions.

TIA

Some locals that post here do it often. We did it once and had a great time make sure you get on the list and RSVP even if you dont decide to go. Its a fun atmosphere with lots of people watching.:) Lots of people were really dressed up when we were there.

My hubby and I went once, and it was fun. My hubby felt entirely underdressed in a button down shirt and a nice pair of khaki shorts. I told him to keep drinking, and he'd forget all about that soon enough. He did, but people do tend to dress a bit for this, so I wouldn't go in your park attire.

Also, the drinks were OK, not great. They had about 3 different types of mixed drinks when we went. Like any place with "free" drinks, I think I could've had about a dozen or so of them without risking any sort of alcohol poisoning. Beer and wine or any other type of mixed drink that is not one of the ones they've set up in mass quantities, you'd still have to pay for. Since my husband only drinks beer, it was not a great value for him, and I do have to say that the cash bars they had set up were quite a wait. The appetizers weren't really anything to write home about either (as expected), but they certainly served their purpose.

Anyway, we saw Joan Jett, and she was great. We met lots of nice folks there. Guests of the hotel and locals. It was a very friendly night, and we'd do it again if we were ever there at the end of the month again.
