DH & I are planning a visit to UO mid-May. Had pretty much decided RPR @ passholder rate of $124 vs HRH $144 (both Sun-Thurs rate), then read threads re: recent rennovations of HRH & upcoming revamping of RPR. Previously we've only stayed at PBH; would like to try something new. What do you have recently stayed at either one think? Also, any recent photos? Thanks. :)

Altho we prefer RPR, we like HRH too. Renovations at RPR aren't scheduled to begin until the end of June, so you'd be okay in May!

I've stayed at both RPR & HRH. I love both of them and would say that RPR is my favorite because of the whole tropical vibe. I also like the location of RPR better than that of HRH.

Although, I don't plan on staying at RPR again until the renovations are completed. Whenever we go this year, we'll stay at either HRH or PBH. My last RPR stay was in January and while the lobby and common areas were as beautiful as ever, the rooms were looking quite "worn". It didn't ruin our stay or anything, but it was noticeable. It's not like we spend a lot of time in our room, but we'd rather wait until the renovation is complete.

Whatever your decision, I'm sure you'll both have a great time and love whichever hotel you choose. :)

Thank you for your input! I think I'll try the HRH since it was just rennovated & wait for the RPR till after rennovations are completed next year.

If forced to choose between the two, I'd go with HRH - I love the pool!! Just checked out of RPR this morning, room looked good to me - no signs of unreasonable wear and tear, everything was very clean. Did the Easter brunch at Islands Dining room. Food was average, service was awesome! Also, Tchoup Chop was a REAL disappointment on Friday night. Seems like the kitchen can't handle crowds.

I have stayed at both. I like HRH better mainly because of it's location. It is centrally located and has the shortest walks to the parks.

I hate to hear that TC was bad. They have always been consistent for us. A friend stayed there last week and said the service at the pool was terrible. How was the Island service awesome? It's a self serve buffet, right?

I agree on both points. We prefer HRH to RPR, & think TC is a very overrated restaurant. Actually, we love Emeril's other restaurants we've been to, but think he should be embarrassed to have his name associated with TC. I suppose it just comes down to personal taste.

i have stayed at all three and prefer the hrh the most.
the close location to the parks wins me over and the layout of the room suits me fine.

rph will be fine for the two of you.
it is a tad smaller sq ft wise but won't be a problem for 2 adults.

the lobby at rph is beautiful and large.
i think i prefer the dining at rph better than what is at hrh.

i like the cheaper prices at rph over the costs at hrh.

in the end, i like staying at hrh.

whatever you decide, you will enjoy yourself staying on site.
