At check in??

When I made my reservation for CBR, I didn't even KNOW about this board (HANGS HEAD IN SHAME), and I have learned so much in the few days already!

BUT NOW I want to know which area I will be staying in??? We requested a King Bed Room, and a Crib, but NEVER specified an "area" or anything....and we would like to be on the SECOND FLOOR, and we have a few choices of buildings..should I call back? Or can they do NOTHING about it anyway, until check in???

Thanks so much!

yes. if the room isn't ready, you won't be told the #, but the CM can answer all your questions and potentially move you if possible.

Check in. Depending on the season you may be able to fax a room request if you have one you know is good

I would be on the phone first thing tomorrow morning with 407-W-DISNEY. You can put in all of your requests. I made my reservations last year and, like you, didn't know certain things about the CBR that I knew after the reservations were made. I called back and told them I wanted a room in either Jamaica or Aruba. I wanted upstairs. I wanted non-smoking and, if possible, I didn't want to be looking at a parking lot.

We arrived around 3:00 p.m. and we were given a non-smoking, upstairs room, facing a courtyard in Jamaica Building 41. Super perfect location. Just a 3 minute walk to the bus stop, a 5 minute walk to the food court/main pool/
arcade/store, etc., and less than a minute walk to the quiet pool and beach.

Definitely call them tomorrow and let them know your requests. I hear faxes just don't cut it anymore.

Have a safe and fun trip. We're heading back to the CBR on 5/31/07 and we can hardly wait!

Just remember, while you can request anything - room (not advisable), building, area - the only thing you are guaranteed is a room of the level and type for which you paid. While Disney does its best to grant requests, they can't always. Keep requests to a minimum and, if more than one, in the order of importance.

from multiple room assignors, faxes do work. in fact, one actually heartily recommends it as she warns the requests made on the phone may not actually make it to them for whatever reason.

Many of the resorts are ignoring the faxes. If they are in your reservation then there is no need to match up a piece of paper with a reservation.

You can always ask again when you check in. Sometimes they will sprinkle a little pixie dust on your reservation. :)

We've had a reservation at OKW for May of this year since the end of February. When I called the resort this week, the CM I spoke with told me that they don't actually receive the reservation until a week before the check-in date. She then said she would connect me to 'central reservations' where I could probably get answers to any questions I might have.

I don't quite understand the reason for this, but it's no big deal. I'll call back the week before we leave.

I was under the impression that King beds at the mods were guaranteed if you pay a slightly higher nightly fee. Might be wrong. If that's important, I think I'd be shelling out a few extra dollars for it, because I understand there are very, very few rooms with king beds and getting one as an upgrade is almost impossible.

At CBR a king bed room costs extra. If you really want one I would call and modify your reservation now.

We did already request a King Bed, so hopefully we get that. It's the location I am worried about, especially with a Toddler...
Just a side note, of why I am nervous... we "requested" a King Bed for our HM on the conceirge level....when we stayed at Beach Club, and we ended up with 2 Doubles or Queens (I forget the size) and on a regular floor....ON OUR HM..and I was P-off, and they could do NOTHING about it!
So, I guess my original post is basically wondering IF I REQUEST.....do they USUALLY follow thru?? Or NOT!:confused3

If you reread duckliteís and safetymomís posts, King bed rooms at the Moderate resorts are at an additional cost. If you reserve and pay for a room with a King bed, thatís what youíll get. If you merely request one, as ducklite pointed out they are extremely limited and you will likely NOT be granted that request.

As for location, again, you can request anything you want - but you will not be informed of your room number or its location at least until you check in; if the room isn't ready, you will not get that information until you call the number you'll be given at/after the time you'll be told.

Concierge floor isn't a "request." When you book a room on the concierge level you have to pay a lot more to be on that floor than a regular floor. Unlike other location and building requests where its merely a particular location in the same room category. You should have had money refunded if they did not give you that and you paid for it. The king bed is never guaranteed, but you should have had the concierge floor.

Okay well we PAID for the King Bed..so we will have that! This time around ;o)
I'll suck it up and deal with location when we get there, or call a week before hand and see what they can do as far as location!
As for our HM, I guess we should've gotten our money back, b/c we paid for King and Concierge and never got them! We were told, "Sorry!"

1) All room requests at WDW are requests.
2) There are no guaranteed rooms.
3) Even if you pay for a certain type.
4) Yes, you "usually" will get the paid-for type.
5) But, it is not guaranteed.
6) But, you find out your room when you check-in.

NOTE: There are just too many reasons that you room for which you paid or requested would not be available. When this happens, they try to give you the same or better room type at another resort.

Yeah, I understand things can happen and they can be overbooked for a particular room type and they have to downgrade you, but they can't downgrade you and charge you the original rate. It's one thing to charge the original rate for an equivalent or better room at another resort, frustrating as that may be, they are at least giving you something with the same value as what you paid. When they are very obviously downgrading you (as in the case of the OP from concierge level to non-concierge), however, you have every right to demand a refund of the price difference.

Just an FYI

There are no elevators at CBR so if you room is upstairs be be prepared to climb the stairs.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

As far as you original question, I have never requesting anything when booking a room so I have no idea if they honor the requests.

Some things you should know about the CBR...

We always book the a Preferred room at CBR. Those are in the buildings - Martinique and Trinidad North. If you did not pay for Preferred then you will not be in those buildings which are the closest to Old Port Royale.

CBR does NOT have elevators. I just wanted you to know so you will be prepared to carry the stroller and a sleeping child up the stairs every night. :flower3:

I stayed in Barbados building #16 (which is probably the farthest away IMO) and it was a 15 minute walk one way to the Old Port Royale.

Each village has their own private pool and that is just a short walk away from the rooms if you don't want to go to the Main Pool.

It is just so beautiful to walk around that Resort. It's my favorite!

Here is the map of the CBR...
