What is Disney Free Dining?

I have been reading some of the posts and hear people talking about disney free dining..i get that its free....but what are the exact details of the disney free dining plan??? Is it a certain time of year? do you have to stay at certain hotels..etc etc....any answers would be great!! thanks!

Yes it is potentialy for end of Aug to end of Sept 22.. do not have the exact dates. If it is offered you would have to stay at a disney resort and purchase a package i.e tickets and room and then the free dining. The rumour is that free dining will be announced April 12th.
If you look in the Dining forum you will see many posts about the free dining

There are no definite details, nothing has been announced. If it is, then it looks to be from late August for a few weeks. A much shorter time period than the last 2 years.

I also would not be surprised if it was limited on resorts. That has been a trend on some discounts (AP for example) and I can see Disney continuing that trend.

It is the Disney dinning plan,but for free to eveyone on a Disney magic your way plan. We used it the first year Disney promo it, and it was great. (2005)
Saved a bunch. We ate eveywhere.
Of course it is the most hottest topic right now!

What if you've already booked a trip and have most of it paid off?

My son and I will be staying at the CBR the last week of August, and we have the MYW w/ PH package, including dining. If you've already booked are you blocked out of this promo?

No, you would not necessarily be blocked out. If you see that Free dining is offered, call Disney or your TA if you used one and ask to have your reservation converted to the Free dining offer.

The rumor is that Disney will announce this April 12th. The rumored rate is $455 per adult for 5 nights/ 6 days at a Value Resort, Tickets and Free Dining Plan. I do not know what the rumored rate is for children 3-9. According to the rumors it'll be good for dates August 26th - Sept 22nd. If you already have ressies all you have to do is call in to ask to be switched over to Free Dining. My husband and I went during Free Dining last August and it was fantastic!

Wow, thanks for the heads-up. I hope it's not just rumors. The rate you quote is for real at least, that's what they gave me over the phone when I booked.

Also that is the exact day we arrive! I will have to keep an eye out on April 12th.

Why does that seem high to me? I have a quote of 595.44 pp/do for 9 nights including base tickets.

I believe the more days you stay the cheaper it is per day. We have tickets for 5 days. Your quote is per person, right?

For some reason I can't remember what my son's cost was...I believe it was $3something. Not too much cheaper than my cost, really.
