Dmitry has an update notice for DIS board members on his blog. In case you have PM'd him and he has not responded this will explain it....

That's not fair! It's no different then one of us posting and saying QR is offering the better deal for an offer. In this case they were so why is it different when he posts it then when we post it.

Since this post was clearly directed at me, I just want to go on record as saying that I never asked for ANYONE to be banned. But I have been penalized on this board recently and did report a post that was out of line. It was way beyond just a response to someone else's question or a general post. It was an unprovoked dig at my website.
Does anyone think that the DIS would really ban someone just because someone else asked them to? It had to have been more than that. I have always been very nice about other rewards programs on the DIS--even defending CR the other day for not crediting some shopping purchases. I don't believe in dirty tactics. I'm always above board and honest. And I try to be very careful not to stray into the realm of blatant advertising on here. I'm also and active poster on many forums on the DIS, not just the Rewards board where my site is discussed.
It's unfortunate that this is all playing out publicly when the DIS staff obviously did not intend for it to or they would have posted something themselves. I myself didn't even know about it until the OP posted to check the QR blog site.

I didn't read the blog but from a few posts today I can probably guess what it says.
If Dmitry/QR was banned, quite frankly it doesn't surprise me. A few posts recently were obviously self-promoting posts which is clearly against DIS guidelines. No member of the board is allowed to self-promote. I think Tricia/SR has done a good job in walking that fine line as a member of the DIS community and the owner of a rewards site. I'm sure it is hard to especially when it is your livelihood on the line. I thought a couple of Dmitry's posts were over line but I never said anything. I figured the mods would be judging the posts on their own :confused3
While I find it helpful that reward site operators come here and post updates and advice, I hope this board remains a place for open discussion of programs. That means the good and the bad of those programs. I would hate for it become a place where everything is an advertisement or that anyone would be afraid to voice their opinions of any of the programs.
This is jsut my $.02 (and no you can't click this and get credit for it :rotfl: )

I completely agree with what you wrote. Its sad that dmitry was banned but honestly I didn't find he contributed to the site as a whole - just posts about QR and offers/promos.

I am sure that one person could ban another member. It would take more than one thing and the mods must have looked into it I am sure. Mods don't just do things off a one time thing. I would hope not... no I am sure they are more than fair. Maybe they are putting him in time out until they figure it out and or something we are not aware of.
You know what goes on that we don't see cause rumors. I believe the mods do their job well and we must not know everything.
I do not think the blog was done well and could have been said in another way.
I also think it is great that the owners of these sites are here on the DIS to help us get more money.
I will still give him another chance as I said in the first post.
Again before we judge, remember we do not know what goes on in PM's and every thread and post on this board. The mods can see all and they make judgment the way they see fit based off the rules set.

I guess because when he posts it, it's advertising. When we post it, it's a recommendation.
IMO that whole blog was completely unprofessional. I hadn't gotten around to switching my account over to the new one and now I'm considering not bothering - I think I only had 40 cents or something, no big deal. The mods don't tell you who reported you, why they reported you and what they said when they reported you. Unless one of the mods broke protocol, he's merely speculating and trying to pass it off as fact, trying to poison the competition.

A lot of you know me for a few years now. The last thing I would want to do is break some kind of a rule or say something bad about a competitor to hurt others feelings.
Weren't you banned from another board for this exact thing? Then you make a statement pointing fingers directly at Tricia for having you banned. I'd call that unfair sportsmanship. I think its great the communication the Dis people have with you two, and they can come here and ask questions, but I believe at times you have crossed the line, so for now on, lets just all play fair.

I was unable to read the blog, as it apparently has been taken down.
I am not happy that Dmitry got banned, but I can see there are two sides to the issue.
I would agree that most of what Dmitry can be seen as promoting his site, and I don't know how often or if he ever did post in other forums about other topics(This is a site with paid advertisers so I can see why the Dis would frown on blatant advertising, after all you cant even type in tourng planz)
On the other hand, many of the threads on this board deal with questions or problems people may be having with the various rewards programs, which prompted responses from the various owners of the site, rather than have us speculate what is wrong(a good thing in my opinion).
I am sure that Dmitry's frustration is not helped by the fact that his site has been essentially down for 2 weeks. Hopefully this can all be sorted out!

Before the modification he stated that another rewards site owner that posts here asked for him to be banned. . . and he was.
What exactly happened we don't know except for the message that was sent with his banning about advertisement.

I don't know when Dmitry updated his blog but I found his post very professional and sincere. I hope he is allowed to post again. I understand he and Tricia have to walk a very fine line of helping us and not having it come off as advertising.
I want to thank Tricia for her professionalism in this matter. She knows you catch more flies with honey than vinegar and has shown Dmitry that she and he can help each other and us.
Thank you both

I also understand the DIS boards view on this but I like having both Dmitry and Tricia around here. It really helps me feel comfortable with rewards sites knowing they are ran by real people. I like knowing their views on different offers and them hearing our views as well. These two are the only reward sites I focus on because of that.

Agreed. I enjoy having both Tricia and Dmitry around here and I hope that the mods rethink their ban on Dmitry. I read the updated blog and found that Dmitry's response was heartfelt and sincere.
Selfishly, competition always breeds better offers for us the consumer, so I like the fact that Dmitry and Tricia had access to the forums to see how they can make their sites more appealing to us the consumer. And I believe both of them took our opinions to heart.

Dmitry took the first step of emailing me off of the boards and I appreciate that. We've exchanged a couple of emails and I do think that he is sincere. I can't imagine the stress that he is under right now with his site upgrade.
Competition is good. It keeps us both on top of our games. ;)

I have to agree with you. The only posts I saw by his were.. please check the QR site etc. It was annoying since I NEVER saw Tricia start a post asking people to visit her site.
as for the 2 cents?? I want mine for taking time to read your message!!!!! :rotfl2:

That is not true. He did try to help many times. He has even in the past often answered questions about SR when Tricia wasn't around. It's sad to me that you posted he didn't contribute to the rewards board "as a whole" as it's completely untrue.

I have had guests visiting for about a week so haven't been online much! Oh goodness did I miss a lot this week!
I don't nor have I ever seen Dmity as ONLY self serving. He does try to answer questions regarding QR. I have seen many post by him trying to help with offers people have done through other reward programs.
My "guess" on his getting banned is probably his id "quickrewards.net" if you'll notice Tricia is not ***************.com.
I really hope a few bad apples do not chase you away from this board because I think you are an asset here Dmitry.

MyGoofy26 posts alot on this board, and I have never seen a questionable post, so I would find it hard to believe that she has ever been reported, but I would agree with you in the fact that I hope MyGoofy gives quickrewards another shot, it is a good rewards site.:thumbsup2

No, I've never been reported that I know of, don't have any points or warnings. This is what I've gathered by mods and webmasters posting in response to peoples' inquiries . . . that posters that are warned, given points, or banned do not know who reported them or why.
And I wasn't referring to the blog as a whole, in fact I like that idea. . . it was his temporary post on the blog calling out another DISer. It just seemed extremely unprofessional knowing that the mods don't give away the kind of information that he was posting.

I'm sorry. I think I didn't write clearly enough. I was speculating that if anything that might have pushed him over it was because he didn't contribute as much to other parts/boards on Dis boards as a whole and therefore could be thought of as advertising his own site through just the rewards part of DIS boards. I find him extremely helpful over here and appreciated his responses when I had questions or concerns. I was just speculating when this was first posted like some other posters were as well.
