I guess I would qualify. I did not make it to DIS Con I due to financial constraints but have decided to budget for DIS CON II beginning now. I will be making our DVC reservations very soon and I am very much looking forward to meeting everyone. My younger sister is planning to come with me so we will be 2 semi-solo attendees (leaving the guys and kids at home - yay!!!!).

I'm a brand new DVC'er at the WLV. But I'm hoping to get into the BWV or the new BCV for DIS-Con. (You guys have to let me know when you start making some phone calls-I have to wait for the 7 months out to get my room there. But I want to know how much trouble you're having getting in.)
disneyjunkie, there were a lot of other kids there. But we were, for the most part, solo attendees. I think that's why we bonded so tightly. We needed each other for company. :D I know other families did the same thing. Parents with kids hung around together so the kids could have company, too. It really worked out so well for everyone. :D Nice to see you here! And, you too, Rhonda! :D
You guys will not believe how much fun you're going to have. Sharing WDW with other Disney addicts is so much fun. We all get so silly and we laugh almost non-stop! :) :)

I see you are from Brooklyn. So is my DH. We are down there about once/month lately to visit his mother. She lives on Ocean Pky, not too far from Coney Island. We always go ride the carousel (brass rings!) and the Cyclone if it is open when we visit.

We don't have kids, but I'm sure there will be a number of kids your son's age at DIS-CON.

We just bought into DVC (VWL) this past May and are due to take our first trip in March. We will have 100 points left over and dh has agreed that it makes sense for ME to use them for DIS CON II (not sure how I got him to agree so easily - I wonder what he thinks he'll get to do when I am gone, hmm....).

My sister and I are already making tentative plans and trying to decide how many days we can somehow manage to fit into this trip. It seems like so much happened this year before and after the actual convention days that I hate to come too late or leave too early and miss anything. Any advice on this?

We are arriving in Orlando late the night of the 8th and leaving on the 16th so we will JUST miss you - what a shame!! It would have been fun to meet up with another DVC/DISer while we were there. I am sooo looking forward to our trip (we did the 7 day Disney cruise in May but haven't been to WDW since Dec 1999) as I imagine you are.

Well, I did not go to Dis Con I - and I am planning to go to Dis Con II - but I haven't been just lurking here either! I have been posting ever since I made the decision to go to DIS CON II.

Actually, I have three trips planned to WDW this year! 2 days before our DCL cruise in March/April, 7 days with DD ('girls only' trip) in June (6/15 - 6/23), and then DIS CON II (going solo!).

Looking forward to meeting everyone at DIS CON!!!

I too plan to attend DisCon II. I missed last year because I just bought a house and it was way too crazy, but can't wait to attend this year. I plan on going solo. My dd claims that I have dragged her to Disney one to many times and it's no fun. I'm thinking of disowning her ;)

I'm a occasional lurker. I post when I have up coming trips or just back, but then I just lurk the rest of the time. I don't usually plan trips this far out, 30 days is usually my max, norm for me is the Monday before I leave on a friday! Much to my ta chagrin. :) This will give me the incentive to post more.

Hi all---Really wanted to attend 2001, but already had 2 mini vacations in May and Sept and couldn't afford to make it back. The big family vacation was already scheduled for Dec 4-10, 2002 before the dates for DIS-CON 2 were announced so I will already bve there. I don't know if I will be able to attend convention events - wwant to, but not sure about leaving the family, especially since gradnma and mrandpa are coming for the first time - but if I can swing it without too much guilt, I will be at the events. If not, look for those lime green ribbons.

zulaya - that was my situation for the 2001 convention - already had our hotel ressies made when the Dis-Con dates were announced. I ended up with an extended family trip also: 6 additional relatives besides my DH and 3 kids. I was very glad to have the convention events to "escape" to after a day with the family...though I did feel guilty for staying out late almost every night. I'll be solo for DIS-Con II! :D

Hello all! Well I attended DISCon I so by the definition used in a previous post that makes me an "old timer" (humph - don't like that phrase a bit!). But as you will see by the number of posts I have I am a tried and true lurkette. I've been lurking since 1999, can you believe it? A combination of a very slow computer at home and feeling its only appropriate to read during breaks and lunch at work. But I had to post because DaisyDebbie pointed out that my Daughter and I were in pics on the Community Board. I'm not certian yet if I can do DISCon II (that darn pesky school year thing for my daughter). But I thought I'd better at least say "Hi!" on the boards. I'll go back to my lurker-mode now.
