MazdaUK

SWAP FULLYou are signing up to the seasonal recipe swap, joint-hosted by MazdaUK and rlovew.

One slot only at this stage - if there is enough interest I'll look at opening another group.

The recipe should feature the month couplet from the poem below, be suitable to the season and use seasonal ingredients as far as possible (no fresh strawberries in December please! Frozen/tinned allowed all year :thumbsup2 ) Please can you also make sure the recipe WORKS - if you don't cook yourself please ask someone who does to test it for you!

REQUIREMENTS: These must measure 8.5 x 5.5. Binders and protectors for this size can be found at Staples.
Use cardstock and layer at least once + one embellishment. You can embellish any way you choose (the couplets may give you some ideas!), but be C-R-E-A-T-I-V-E!!! Make 12 for each group. You WILL get one of yours back. These are due June 18, 07. No Later.
Rebecca will mail out all SWAPS by June 28, 07.
If you need an angel, please request one ASAP. It's not fair to the rest of the group to leave them hanging.

SENDING & RECEIVING: Put your recipes in a plastic bag and mail them to me. Individual Ziplocks will leave lines on them if they are smaller than the recipe. rlovew will PM you her addy when you are ready to mail them. However you send them, incl. an envelope and postage for the same amt. for returning. Also include a piece of paper with your name, your Disboard name and recipe name.

I'll play. This sounds like fun!

Could I have April? I found a recipe for something called a lazy daisy cake - I'll have to bake one first and make sure it's good before I make the cards. Maybe I'll make one for Easter!

Thanks!

YodasMom

OK, I'll sign-up, too!! I'm not quite sure what month to put this in, and if someone has a better idea for this to be in a different month, that's fine. I will do:

Cascade Chicken for January (It has lots of different kinds of mushrooms, wine and Rosemary, etc. in it...the chicken is sauted).

We seem to have 3 spots left- March, May, and June.

If we end with one of them left than I would take a second one and do Strawberry shortcake which could go for any of those months depending on wher you live (we actually get our fresh strawberries in December and January) but if others want to sign up let them have a chance first.

AlexWyattMommy
03-28-2007, 11:54 AM
I'm not sure what time of the day Mazda gets to look online, but I would think she would be okay with poem title page. This way we could all concentrate on making our recipes look nice without needing space for the lines for our month.
Since I have not made even one yet, I'm okay with making thirteen.

Ooh! Ooh! OK then PrincessNancy! All updated to now.

Sorry I couldn't reach you earlier today - DH aunt's funeral in North London, about as far from us as you can get, over 2 hours to get home 20 miles!

Only March, May and June left now.... I'm OK with 13 each. Lets leave the last three slots till the weekend in case people are busy, then if no-one minds I'll take bids for doubles. If we get lots more interest I could open a second group with six places either for 2 recipes each (to get a full set of 12) or join the months in pairs and do recipes to suit both (should work). What do you all think?

OK, who wants the last slots? Rebecca has bagged one for Strawberry Shortcake so I've made an executive decision and put it in June, as that's when we get our main strawberry crop and because of Wimbledon. Anyone want March or May?

I can't wait to try apple something :lmao:

Mickster
04-02-2007, 08:40 AM
I'm going to look through my recipe book and see if I can come up with a good one. I'd love 2 sets. One to keep and one to give away! ;)

Mickster

04-02-2007, 01:03 PM
OK, if May is still available, I'll take that one... Do I have to do a lamb recipe? Can I do a side dish to go with the poor little lamb?

Also, are we all putting our month's phrase on the page too? So it reads like a book (was this asked already? sorry...)

PrincessNancy96
04-02-2007, 01:11 PM
I'm doing the title page that will have the poem on it!! :)

How is that for service? LOL

It is one of DH's faves. It's also Atkins or low carb friendly...

AlexWyattMommy

I love snow pea pods. And fresh sweet peas off the vine, but please don't cook, can or freeze them.

OK, all updated. We are full!! You have until 18 June to get your masterpieces to rlovew, 13 copies each, and you don't need to include the poem BUT you can use the couplet for inspiration when embellishing.

So are we all set? (My autumn leave brads arrived yesterday so I'm ready :snooty: , as soon as I finish my colour swap ;) )

Any questions do ask!

I was just thinking about this one. No actual designing yet, but... Are we going to put the month on the page? I know we aren't doing the lines to the poem. I was wondering about the month. I don't care either way, I just don't want to be the only one who doesn't if everyone else does.:confused3

MazdaUK

I agree we need to be consistent. What do you all think? The individual baggies will have the month on so you can put the recipes in the right order, but do you want the name of the month as well, or would you prefer just the recipe title so you can move e.g. strawberry shortcake to January if that's what works for you?

I'm happy either way but we'll go with majority rule.

I was planning to only put on the recipe title. This way if somebody wanted to remove my recipe to put in a gift recipe and put in another one they could.

I'm OK either way, but I had planned to just put the recipe name and the recipe on the card. I will be using winter embellishments, though, to go with my month, so it may not look real good for June, July or August!!

Fine with me! DS(7) LOVES mac & cheese!

Rebecca, do you want the recipes in one bag or in separate bags?

YodasMom
04-10-2007, 09:48 AM
I'm going to mail in separate bags, or wrapped separately because they seem to arrive in better condition.

rlovew
04-10-2007, 10:12 AM
It doesn't matter to me which way you do them but if you put them in seperate bags make sure they don't end have the bag closing over them- we didn't have any problem with the last recipes with that as i could see. I find it easier to wrap them in plastic than put them in a bag at this size so i don't have to use a gallon bag on each. If you want to ship them in 1 bag that is fine just make sure everything is inside of sealed plastic because my mail lady leaves my packages on the ground by the door and rainy season will be starting as we do this swap.

I find small size non-ziplock bags are generally OK for this size - I sellotape them down well, and put the whole lot in a bigger ziplock inside a large Jiffy with some cardboard for stiffening.

I'm out of small ziplocks anyway, so putting them in the other sort will get me postal quicker:rotfl:
