Anyone a member?
I thought it might be fun to have a sparkpeople group here. We can transfer to that site too.
If you don't know, www.sparkpeople.com is a FREE weight loss website where you can track your eating habits and get lots of info.
They also have really great message boards.
ETA: I created a Sparkteam for us. You can find it by looking under "hobbies and interests" and then "travel." Or I can send you an invite, just PM me!!
We have a weekly weigh-in and weekly challenges.

I'm a member but I gotta get back on track after being sick almost the entire month with something. From the 4th to the 16th I battled a double ear infection which normally doesn't bother or get me down but doubled with a really bad sinus infection(my first OH JOY) it had me in bed for over a week. Then just as I'm feeling better I get that itchy feeling in my throat and now a nasty cough that won't stop.
I'm Zoesmama03 on there too. I have a sparkpage if you want to add me on your friends list there. :)

Hi, everyone! I am a spark person, too and my user name is the same over there. I have been off track the past week, having worked 3 nights out of the past seven until well past midnight and being back at work less than 7 hours later.
I will do better today.
The resources on sparkpeople are the best I have found anywhere. I do Weight Watchers but found I was wasting a lot of calories/points on junkfood. Sparkpeople has made me more conscientious about the makeup of those calories. It is a fun place to track exercise, too.

I have been on sparkpeople for about a year. I have used it very inconsistently. My user name there is tonedme. I hope to get using it again as it worked when I was.
I first need to start eating regular meals and not eating out all the time.

Just wanted to update. I've been using SP for a little over 2 weeks and I'm down 7 pounds!!!
I joined a very comprehensive challenge (we each chip in $10, then we get points for all sorts of things and at the end the one with the most points gets the money!). I think joining challenges is really key.
I've tracked my food every single day and I am exercising way more than I did on WW.
BTW my name over there is TRIPLES17.

I just signed up on this site - it seems very thorough! I need support to help me going - DH is trying to get healthier also, but I would love to be a part of something with more defined goals. The search feature is terrible. I put it under "hobbies and interests" and then "travel."
I found it that way, but just doing a search comes up with nada. I sent everyone invites. So you can join that way. just check your Sparkmail.

Basically it's whatever we make it. Sparkteams allow people with similiar interests to find each other and work on goals together. It's like our own private message board. Let me know if you need an invite!

I have to say how excited I am to find my DIS friends are on sparkspeople too!!!:cool1: I just started SP this week but have been following WW for a month (down 10 lb). I hope this helps with the motivation factor. Combining my obsession (DIS) with dieting and life changes has got to be a winner. I am not really sure what to do with the challenges etc as I am still having a trying time reading through all the material on the SP site. What are the points for??? I'm mickeysgirl on SP. Looking forward to hanging out.

Take your time and get used to everything. I think the points are for teams to get on the leader board, but we'll never get there, so don't worry about them. I just like getting to the next point level, so I try to do everything to get my points everyday.
It's SP's way of getting you to really experience the whole site.

I just joined SP this weekend and I love it! I am a WW lifetimer, but love SP. I really needed something a little different. I was getting so relaxed with WW it just wasn't as effective as it should have been.

I just want to say that I have been on SP just a few days and I LOVE IT! Being a WW member, this gives me a different approach which seems to be working for me. Instead of counting points, its a nice change to count calories. Their food tracker makes it a cinch. :woohoo:

Thanks for posting info about SP. I would love to loose 10 lbs before my December wedding. I eat pretty well and exercise some, but I graduated a year ago and got a desk job. We all know what that means - a few extra lbs. Especially because there's no longer a free (for students) rec center to escape to between classes. Hopefully I can work it all off before our Wedding and Disneymoon. It's great that it's free because DF & I are on a tight budget in order to pay for our wedding and such. We did splurge and contract a fabulous photographer and I would like to proudly display all the photos for the rest of my life. I'll join the group and keep my eye on the prize. Thanks again.

Yep! Which is good for the team as a whole. I get 10 points with each referral. And Mods--the points aren't for anything physical, it's just a motivator for the site and teams. Teams with the most points get featured, but no prozes or anything!

Now I'm down 15 from SparkPeople start so that's a total, since I've bothered to track of 30 - woo hoo. Puts my stall in perspective for me. I'm not calling it a plateau because I know what I am and am not doing that is causing my stall. Hopefully seeing my 30 WISH icon will help remotivate me ;) See you over at SP as MSNEmommy with the signature WDWfanLinda. Better log off and go to bed or I won't get the point for my 8 hours of sleep goal...

I joined Spark in April and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! I am a lifetime WW member but counting points was not working for me anymore. With Spark I have lost 9 pounds PLUS I am learning how to make these chnages an everyday thing and just not temporary. I am more addicted to Spark than even the DIS.

Laurie -- I am so glad to hear someone else say POINTs didn't work for them anymore. I lost 25 lbs. on WW, but for some reason it just didn't seem to help this time. I think it's because I use all my points on junk, and don't get any protein. I am getting a more realistic look at my overall diet, and it's not just helping my waist, it's helping my moods. I think I must be "carb-sensitive", 'cause if I let myself that would be all I'd eat...

I am on calorie restriction (~1200) combined w/ a ton of gym time. I have lost 25 so far and have about 40 to go. I am trying to get most of my calories from healthy sources... lean meats, veggies, fruits, nonfat dairy.

I was doing that too! But I plateaued b/c I think my body went into starvation mode. I've found that I do best between 1200-1400. SP is really great for tracking that.

Day 2 and so far so good.... :)
I think I am going to like the site because it lets me track so many different things. I am a very concrete number kind of person which is why I really enjoyed the WW points program. However, that was really only one number you were keeping track with and I like the breakdown I can see on SP. I like that it has a range for different items (cal, protein, fat, etc.). I also like that it will graph our your progress so it should be easier to find patterns and tweak my diet and/or exercise when necessary.

Good morning DIS Sparkpeople!
My first weigh-in was Sunday and showed a very respectable 2 pound loss. I know I can't expect that every week but it was a nice start! This week I'm trying to add in more water each day because I really struggle with 8 glasses a day.
I'm a little torn this morning because I forgot to bring my usual South Beach bar for breakfast and I'm stuck eating from the work cafeteria, which is maybe the unhealthiest place in the world. I'm not sure who approved bags of M&Ms as a breakfast item!

I've started just bagging my breakfast cereal (GO Lean crunch) and taking it (higher protein, not south beach) ahead of time. Hope you can find some healthy choices.
I hear you on the water - I'm doing it this week. and I'm going to walk (or run 30 min every day!) That's my goal...
I'm still trying to figure out all the sparkspages!!

A 3 pound loss for me this week which is great! I was really just aiming for 1 pound since we were traveling for the holiday but I managed to stay on plan even with all of that and only went over my calorie range by just a tad on 2 days. I also managed to continue to exercise while I was gone. :) I did have one day (yesterday) where I only got in half of my water but now that I am back home there are no excuses there.

I have not updated my last 2 weigh-ins but I lost 2 pounds one week and 1 pound last week which puts me at a total of 17 pounds lost.

Hey fellow spark people!!:wave: I am new to WISH & to sparkpeople. Almost 2 weeks on sparkpeople & I have lost 4 lbs. (although I have put 2 back on due to water retention!!:mad: ) I have really been good with cardio, not so much for strength training, but I will start that soon.

My user name is the same over there (Bigolive9). I was going to re-join Weight watchers, but my husband reminded me that Sparkpeople does the same thing, but is free!
My short term goal is to lose 20 pounds by my son's 6 month birthday (November 23).
