DW and I have been on a serious DIS hiatus with occasional bouts of sporadic lurkerdom. We've been immersed in RL way too much since we got back from our WDW trip in July. :surfweb: :laundy: :surfweb:

I'm not sure who's maintaining the list at the moment, but it looks like I'll be doing a solo trip (pretty much my first solo trip in 20 years) at the end of the month. I've got a meeting in Orlando on the evening of Dec. 2, and I could not pass up the excuse to visit for the weekend. :rolleyes1

I'll be at POR from 11/30 - 12/3. I'll be watching out for you!

BeadyLady, OZ was the name of the country and since the wizard was of that realm I guess that would be his name also. He was also "the man behind the curtain", a real 'humbug' of a man. The name of the town was Emerald City. Did you know that Buddy Ebsen (Beverly Hillbillies) was the first tin man but since he was highly allergic to the makeup/paint he had to relinquish the role? Also "Over the Rainbow" was cut from the movie at one point as not fitting in. We shall not get into the stories of wild debauchery that the Munchkins indulged in. There are children and other innocents around. :rotfl2:

I bought a new backpack on clearance at Target yesterday for our trip. It says the color is lime green, but it looks too gray to me. So, if anyone sees an "bland" looking lime green backpack with a LGMH attached, just yell "Hey Chickie!". :cool1:

I walked up to a lady at Sunshine Seasons and whispered in her ear "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" when I saw her LGM hanging from her bag. Later on I thought it over and decided that she was a very nice lady not to have turned around and punched me out but she had her beautiful daughters with her and did not want to be a bad influence, I am sure. :rotfl:

Hey Poohbear67 - Hope to see you at WDW. We're at the All Star Sports from 12/7 through 12/11. Not doing MVMCP this year, though. Have a great time.

Way kool. We will have to meet up sometime it would be great to see you all again.

We are doing Hollywood Brown Derby for dinner on Monday at 7:20 and Kona for breakfast on Tuesday @9:10 then Wednesday Mama Melrosa's at 6:20 for dinner but everything else is wide open except of course tuesday for the MVMCP we have tickets to that. I have never been to see Disney at Christmas.

I hope we can get together maybe at Epcot sometime and have some french pastries behind the Bistro De Paris (i hope i have that right), that little pastry shop is my fav.

if you want you can call us while we are down there, if you need my cell or infor like full names etc. let me know.

englishrose47, a brand spanking new computer is a wonderful way to start off a new year. Pristine and perfect, for at least a month or two until you start loading it up with all your 'stuff'. :rotfl: I have been there a few times myself. I hope it is all you wanted it to be and more!! Towncrier, it has been a long time since we met, way back at an Indy meet. Now we are going to be Florida neighbors as well. Good. We do not do the Christmas party either, too busy with other things as this is a short trip, for us. I cannot wait to see the Castle all lit up. They were working on it when we were there in September. Have a safe trip and look for my window decorations.

Pooh, French pastries. I gained five pounds just reading about them. I like the Norway Bakery the best though.

i will be at disney world MAY 13th thru 20th. would love to meet my fellow DISers.
last year i was at chef mickeys (april 2007) i had my lime green "team fockers watch " landyards tied around the handle of my strollers and when we returned they were mysteriously untied and layed nicely in the seat of the stroller???!!! spooky but nice, i just wish the "fellow DISer" would have left a little not of something.

momsoftwins , what a cute gesture but how much more lovely it would have been with a LGM, or something, with the person's name on it. I had decorated my door and window and came home to many nice surprises many nights but most of the time I had absolutely no idea who had been by. I have made up a collection of LGM's and put my name and the dates of my current trip on them so that I can leave them here and there. I have so many folks I would love to thank for so many things from September and no way to do it. THANK YOU!!!:love:

I think its unoffical but a bunch of Disers are getting together over where the dueling painos guys (Jellyrolls?) are playing across from Beaches n cream on Sunday Dec. 9th so Mike and I are going over there to watch them and meet up with Towncrier and others that I haven't met yet so it should be a great time.

I am on the Jellyrolls thread and had signed up to go but am having second thoughts because of the smoke. Tom has emphysema and I have COPD and I do not want to get sick at DW. It would not be so bad if it were not the first night of our trip. Maybe someone will have another meet somewhere.

Towncrier needs a ride back to the resort afterward. I had said I could but if I am not there I cannot. He will be at Sports.

The darned lawnmower decided to give me some problems so it slowed me down a bit. I got it up and running but am going to have to take it apart and clean it up next spring. I do not like doing things that I am not that good at.

Pooh, I have been told that bars are exempt that as such Jellyrolls will be as smoky, if not more, than it used to be. If it is non smoking I would love to come by.

Heck, if you guys and Towncrier are going to be stranded there maybe I should just swing by after we get done at the Poly that night any way??

There is a bus but going all the way down to DTD and then back to the resort when it is only a mile or three up the road seems a bit of a burden.

Let me do some checking on the smoking situation and if possible we will change our plans and come to Jellyrolls. Even deaf me can hear the music there. :rotfl:

Poor YOU, had to hand the keys to Mike to mow?? Next thing you know you will be in the same shape as me. I mowed and had to come in and fix dinner and then go back out and I will also be the one to either fix the darned lawnmower or find the money to buy a new one. It is nothing new, has always been thus. Be careful there, don't want you straining yourself, you lucky gal you.

Jellyrolls is indeed exempt from the non-smoking policy at WDW. Don't worry about the ride back to the resort. KristaTX has graciously offered to take us back to All Star Sports, so you are off the hook. I'm sure that we'll find a way back after Jellyrolls.

In the past, some people who aren't able to cope with the smoke have simply spent the evening sitting on the benches outside of Jellyrolls. We won't be getting there until after IllumiNations and (as I told Poohbear67), I can guarantee you that we won't stay until anywhere near closing time.

I can hardly believe that our trip is less than a couple of weeks away. I had better start looking for my DIS button and my lime green ribbons.

I highly reccomend AVG free anti virus. I have used it for years and it updates daily which is better than anything you pay for. Never had a virus, crossing fingers, eyes and legs.

It's a lot of fun to begin with!! MK closes early at 7pm to all but P&PP ticket holders, actually you can get in at4pm .They give you a treasure bag when you enter the park. At 7pm the party begins there are treasure spots all over the park. Special shows and activities and a parade and fireworks. The rides are almost walk on. You can dress up or you don't have to!!

Truth is that if I do get to go alone I do not want to plan much of anything. My entire life is planned, all around what my family wants/needs, and I am just plain burned out.

I plan to sleep until I wake up, eat only when I am hungry and what I want, and only do nice things for nice folks. :wizard:

If I should meet any grouchy, nasty folks (unlikely) I will give them my home address and tell them to go there. :cool1: If I find myself enjoying myself too much I may wander over and file and application and just stay there. :wizard:

I grew upin a house that was Upstairs , Downstairs. The kitchen was in the basement( cellar) and even had the old servant bells still in the scullery. The servant rooms were in the attic, we didn't have a Living room instead a sitting room and qa huge dining room and the bathrooms ( toilets) were betwwn floors!! Of course we didn't have servants but that's how old the house was!!

And to the fellow Massachusetts-ian, my two best tips for dealing with the FL heat:

(1) Buy a hydration backpack (I have a North Face and a Camelbak, I love both.). Fill it nearly to the top with ice from the hotel ice machine, then add cold bottled water to fill it the rest of the way. Not only can you sip at the icy water through the day, but the cold will seep through and keep your back cool.

My son and I usually go in August, which is easily the most oppressive time to be in central Florida. The hydro packs make it very close to bearable! To put this in perspective for those of you who know: we can actually spend an entire August day at AK without feeling like we're going to drop dead. :goodvibes:



(2) Also, you can get a special neck wrap... a long strip of cloth filled with water-absorbing polymer beads. (The beads are used for gardening, primarily, and they're in diapers, too.) You just soak the cloth in water and the beads absorb the water. The whole thing gets all fat and squishy, but not drippy; it's more like a gel. It's amazing, really, how cool this will keep you if you drape it around your neck. the cool feeling lasts for quite a long time, but when it starts to feel not-so-cool, just stick it under the water stream in a drinking fountain (in my experience, these run a bit colder than the sinks in the restrooms) to "refresh" it. The first one I ever bought was in AK back in '99, but I haven't seen them there since then. I got a few at a craft fair in Virginia a few years ago. I actually just make them myself now.

Mr Diz bought one of those camel thingies and we have never used it. I'll suggest to him to take it on the next trip.

Hi ya all!

Not a lot of time but I wanted to drop by and let you all know that all is well here. The hernia was in a different area than expected and could have been a very big problem if it had not been caught early with the CT for the other condition.

Tom is doing extremely well. Surgery was short, recovery even shorter. He has been eating since he got off the table and is eating me out of house and home.

The drugs must have been good cause he thanked me on the way home and said he was going to start treating me better. He is off drugs today. :rolleyes:

I am using this opportunity to clean the kitchen as that is where he sits all day long. It needs it. Hard to clean around a man. :dance3:

Thank you all for caring and forgive me for sending this same message to each thread but it is all I can do. I am wore out. After all HE got to lay down yesterday, even if it were on an operating table. :rotfl:

Hi everyone,

i just found this thread. I am fairly new to posting to the boards. I try to read as much as I can, though and have found many great tips. We(Me, DH & DS 9months) just returned from Disney. We stayed at BWV and had a great time despite being so unorganized. I did notice a couple of Disers I think. I saw a few with the iron on t-shirts and some with lime green mickey head tags, but I really didn't know what to say:confused3 so I didn't say anything. Plus I didn't have anything identifying me:sad2: But now I know about the look!!! We are doing the Disney Cruise on the Wonder in October. 10/19-10/23 and then doing MNSSHP on the 23rd and staying at OKW until the 26th. I will definitely be more prepared this time. I'm going to start working on my magnets, t-shirts and mickey heads right away!!!

I just had to say we just got our first mini doxie for our son in November as his Christmas gift. I had no clue how sweet they are. She is just the sweetest most cuddly dog. I had only owned shih tzu's in the last 15 years and still love them but DS's doxy has really stole my heart. She is so eager to please on my terms where my shih tzu only does things on her terms not mine. lol Although the doxy does have social anxiety issues in that she is freaked by new people approaching her, where the shih tzu loves everyone the minute they come near her.

It would break my heart to miss a DIS friend because they did not know to look for me. I am such a shy person and hard to spot that it could happen. :rotfl:
