Hello!
I have been to WDW well over fifty times in my life, and I have never tried the pin trading. We are going to try it for the first time with our kids on our trip this spring. They are 6 and 3 years old. I am hoping it will be a tradition that they will love and can continue on our many trips to come! Any advice on pin trading for our little ones? We are completely new to this! I have bought them both lanyards, as well as about 15 pins each to start out with!
Thanks for ANY advice/ tips/ info!

Have fun and use this as a way to help teach good manners. When our DS was small, we taught him to 1) patiently wait his turn, 2) ask the Cast Member *politely* if he could look at their pins, 3) trade (if he saw a pin he wanted) and 4) thank the Cast Member after each transaction (even if he didn't trade)

Here is a link to the ODPT (Official Disney Pin Trading) website on how to get started.

I'm sure that your little ones will enjoy it.

I wish they had pin trading when I was little...it's so much fun!

For small kids, I think I would focus on trading with cast members. You can trade with non-cast members, but they often say "no" to non-rare/valuable pins. Cast members generally can't say "no" (there are a hand-full of rules), so if you child sees a pin he/she really wants on their lanyard they won't be disappointed!

Hi there!

We just got back from WDW Monday - my kids had SO much fun pin trading - DD is 11 and DS is 6. DD collects Pluto and DS is a Mickey fan. They had lots of luck getting different and unusual pins - lots of Cast Member lanyard pins (smaller pins with the little "hidden" Mickey on them) I highly recommend pin trading for kids - especially if you've been to WDW lots of times and all the rides, etc are starting to become familiar - pin trading adds a whole other "layer" to the Disney experience! Have fun and good luck trading!!!
