Greetings everyone,
I am booked on the June 1 2008 Wonder Double Dip also!!
Allow me to introduce the cast of characters:
Paul (me) 34 at time of cruising
Beckie (DW) 29 at time of cruising
Alexis (DD) 4 at time of cruising
Anastasia (DD) 1 at time of cruising
Ken (DFiL) unknown age (not going to ask!!)
Sue (DMiL) unknown age (def not going to ask:rotfl: )
This will be my wife's and my 3rd cruise, my in-law's 2nd, and the wonderful children's first.
A little background history. Our first cruise was January 2001 on the Wonder, and we missed CC due to weather. To make up for it, my wife and I did the first double dip last year (may 2006) on the Magic. My in-laws were on the 2001 Wonder cruise, and my DMiL was quite disappointed about missing CC. So, my wife and I decided to treat my in-laws to the 4 night double dip as a 30th wedding anniversary present. My DFiL knows about it, but my DMiL doesn't know about it yet.
Oh yeah, we are booked in connecting SPH rooms!!!
Look forward to meeting everyone.

Welcome!!!!!! That is too bad about missing CC.....but now there are two chances!!!! We have been on 3 cruises ( 4 day and 2-7day) and loved it. We are very excited about the double dip ....but we are doing a b2b so we get a triple dip!!!!!!
That is great it is a secret to Dmil!!!!! Congrats on the SPH. Our friends (met on the dis!!!) had it on our last cruise. We are on deck 7 in the same room we have been for our last 2 cruises!!! We love it!!!!!

Glad to see some action on this thread. Paul, were you on the May 27th, 2006 double-dip? If so, we were on the same cruise! In addition to that trip we've also done a 4-night Wonder. We had a great time on both. We were supposed to sail on the 4-night leaving this May 27th, but when the double-dips were announced we decided to postpone the cruise for a year. I would love to do another 7-night, but with them moving the Magic each year, it's really hard. I can't wait for the new boats.

I'm really looking forward to this cruise, even though we've booked a 7-night in January - the 2 days at CC really appeals to me. Is the programming essentially the same on the island for both CC days? Or do they have different events planned for each day.
Also, I assume they shift the Pirate party night around? On our 4-night, it was after the CC day on day 3, before the sea day. Do they move it to day 2 or 4, or do they leave it on the then-Nassau day?
Finally, I've heard good and mostly bad things about Nassau. We'll have a 6 yo next June, and I don't really want to spend a lot on excursions, but I would like to at least get off the ship and get the requisite "We were here" sort of souvenirs (DD collects pins, we collect mangets). Is there anything must-see in Nassau for the kindergarten-1st grade age rage? Is there somewhere near the ship where one could do a little souvenir shopping without too much hassle or worry?
Thanks!
Amanda

On our past two cruises Nassau was the only port we didn't like. Two years ago we did the glass-bottom boat tour, which was a total waste of money, and got off the ship to shop. There are places near the port to buy things but the hassle just isn't worth it. Next year we will probably just stay on the ship and dream of Castaway Cay. At the very least I will leave DS7 in the kids club and do a quick shopping trip with DH and the older two kids. Last year we really enjoyed Costa Maya and Cozumel.

Hi hon!!!!
We thought Nassau was ok. We also did the glass bottom boat and it wasn't the greatest. Be careful if anyone has long hair...they will bug you to death to braid your hair. I think we may book a room at Atlantis so we can hang out there for the day.
I'm not sure about the pirate night question...sorry
Hope everyone has a great day!!1

Yep, we were on the same boat! Were you one of the Blabbermouths? That thread moved so quickly that I was unable to really keep up with them. Still met a bunch of DIS-ers on that cruise. I am just so awful with names that I apologize if I don't remember meeting you.
You are absolutely correct about wanting to do another 7 night. For me, a double dip eastern would be heaven! I seriously considered the 2008 Thanksgiving double dip for a while, just so I could have 7 nights on the ship again. Since I don't know how the children will handle the seas, I think we will be sticking with the 4-night. Also it will be easier to tack on some WDW days in June than November because my wife is a school teacher.
Amanda,
I really dont remember if the scheduling on the 2 CC days were the same. We kind of did our own thing both days. I know on CC day 1 we did cabana massages and stayed at the adults beach, and then on day 2 we snorkeled (sp?) and stayed at the family beach on a hammock with no one else around. Also did the eco-tour on CC day 2. was fun, but I never got the hang of steering the jetski. One of the days we rented a paddle boat, but I dont remember which day. When I get home I will look at the Navigators for the 2 CC days and compare them.
As far as pirate night goes, I have no idea which night it will be. I am sure we will get information as the cruise gets closer. Similarly, I have no idea on which day (if any) Palo brunch is going to be.
I think we are going to treat Nassau as our "day at sea" and stay on the ship. Really didn't care too much for Nassau in 2001. The bottom of the glass boat was dirty and I think we saw one fish? maybe two. That and my in-laws are going to Nassau this summer, so I think they would be ok staying on board too. (the whole been there-done that kind of thing.) And with the only other days at CC, my DW will need her spa time sometime, so Nassau day it is!
What I am really going to miss on the 4 night is formal night. It is so much fun to get dressed up and look really, really sharp.:cool2:

Paul, We were on the same cruise! I was not one of the Blabbermouths. I thought about joining their thread but they were so active I felt like I was intruding. I did echange several emails with one woman who had a daughter the same age as mine. The girls also emailed each other. The most remarkable thing about my family was that my husband, Patrick, broke his wrist in the pool the afternoon we returned from Costa Maya. They casted it on the ship but he needed surgery after we got home. It ruined his golf game for the summer, but he's back at it now. Lucky me! Judy

I thought about the date the minute I woke up this morning! We spent last week at WDW and had a great time. The weather was perfect and the crowds were not too bad. For the past six days we've been in a condo on the gulf coast. Also perfect weather. I love the beach and am so excited about a double stop at CC. We saw PTC III on Memorial Day. It was good, although not as good as the first one, in MHO. The ending is a little sad. They have certainly have left the door open for another sequel. Hope everyone has a great weekend. We head home tomorrow, then back to the real world.

We have a trip scheduled for Thanksgiving - we were a little worried we wouldn't get rooms for Thursday night, but our DVC waitlists came through before we were finished making our reservations, so we're set. We're still debating the dining plan.
We just returned from a short-notice trip - Jim had a conference in Orlando that he got notified of right after we returned in April, so our DD and I met him down there for 3 nights. The weather was great over Memorial Day, and we had a great time. The crowds weren't even as bad as I had expected they would be.

We were there from May 20 to May 26, including Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day weedend. The crowds weren't bad and the weather was perfect. It rain the last day of our week at Siesta Key. Oh well, Florida can certainly use the rain. When the wind shifted out of the north you could really smell the smoke in the air. We got home late yesterday afternoon and I am busy battling dirty laundry. My DS 20 decided it would be okay to pack wet bathing suits with everything else. Yuck. I'm going to have to work on him while he's home from college this summer. Overall, we had a great vacation. I'm only sad that we'll have to wait 50 weeks for another one!

I am starting to plan my next DL trip (which will be labor day weekend for the Disneyland half-marathon) and I have permission to research going out to WDW for the full marathon again in January. Gotta love the planning stages of the trips. My three-year old daughter is looking forward to Small World. It will be tough to tell her that she can't go on Splash Mountain because she is too small. But she is big enough to go on the log ride at our local amusement park.:confused3

I am a compulsive vacation planner and I love it! I'm already thinking about what restaurants we should try next year. I'm sure your DD will love Small World. I grew up about 20 minutes from DL and we went all the time. However, I moved to Northern California for grad school, and then to New York a few years later. My DD, who just turned 16 was born in NY. Anyway, we hadn't been to S. Cal. for a few years when my DH had a business meeting there in late fall. DD was in kindergarten and they had been singing It's A Small World in school. All she talked about was seeing Small World. Anyways, we get to DL, and are joyful strolling through the happiest place on earth, heading toward SW. DD is between DH and myself, holding both our hands, swinging and singing away. DH and I look up to see the large sign saying SW is closed for holiday decorating. It was like something out of National Lampoon's Vacation. We stopped breathing and looked at each other in terror. We broke the news to her and she sobbed for quite awhile. I think I had to buy her a stuffed animal to calm her down. We still tell that story everytime we arrive at WDW. Anyway, sorry to be so long winded, but it's one of my favorite DL stories. Luckily, the tramatic experience hasn't warpped her for life!

Hi everyone. Have a great Father's day (if it applies!!)
We love planning trips!!!! We were just whining that we miss WDW!!! We are going to WDW in Oct. for a couple days. We are very excited. We are going to stay at the Poly for the 1st time. We usually stay at POFQ. We thought we would try something different this time.
We went to DL over spring break and loved it. It was a lot of fun!!
We leave a week from today to go to the Outer Banks in NC. The inlaws rent a house every year (this is the 13th) and we all meet for a week. It is a lot of fun but it is harder for us to get there coming from the midwest. We fly to Norfolk VA and then drive for 2 more hours. They all live on the east coast so it is about a 7 hr drive for them.
Well have a great week. I'll check in!! Less then a year for the cruise!!!! :goodvibes

Just wanted to say hi. It's going to be hard to stay up with the DIS boards for a whole year without going, but hopefully we'll make it. We took DDs to DL Paris this summer, so the next vacation will have to wait until next year. :hourglass And since we are living in Africa now, it takes forever to get back to the U.S., so we can't do it often. :sad2: :sad1:

Jestocost, I see from your sig that you stayed at the old Golf Resort long ago. I did also on my family's first trip to the World. My parents can't find any old photos of the resort, and I've been dying to relive the memories that I was too young to remember. Do you happen to have any?

Unfortunately, I have some bad news. We are not going to be able to be on this particular cruise. My wife was selected for a grant program (she teaches 6th grade social studies) and they have scheduled seminars for the first week after school lets out...which happens to be the first week of June 2008. No June 1 double dip for us!!!
Aaron - SOG is a fine place to stay, and it is very convenient to the monorail resorts. I think it was about a 10 minute walk to the Polynesian? We were able to see MK fireworks from our room. I recommend staying there if possible..the price, location, and rooms are excellent.
Bon Voyage to all...and have fun on CC for me (twice!)

We will be booking this cruise on Monday. I have enjoyed reading about those of you who are going! This will be our fourth cruise on the Wonder. We just can't stay away. We all have a great time and my husband's phone doesn't ring! As you can see from below, we are a family of 4 with 2 boys who will be 11 and 8 when we cruise. We will be going with another family of 3 with a boy who will be 5. It will be their first cruise.
A few more things:
First, hello to the fellow St. Louisians!!! I see that you are from Kirkwood. We are from the Weldon Spring area (40 & 94) in St. Charles Co. Go Cards! It should be an exciting weekend of baseball coming up when the Cubs come to town. We also have a Max, but he is a Golden Retriever.
For those of you talking about Nassau-it is not our favorite, either. But, here is what we have done:
1st cruise-Atlantis tour (liked it, but a lot of walking)
2nd-stayed on ship and enjoyed empty pools (we liked this, too)
3rd-Dolphin encounter (we loved this!)
4th-??? We may stay on the ship again this time? There is also a pirate museum we might try.
To the family that lives in Burkina Faso-I used to be a high school geography teacher and I am fascinated by other places. Do you live there for a job or humanitarian work or just because?

You will have a great time on the cruise! It is great that you are starting with a cruise that goes to Castaway Cay twice. It has always been the highlight of our cruises. Let me know if you have any questions about excursions, clothes, food, anything, and I will try to help. It looks like some of the others on this thread are also experienced cruisers. We did not book a room at or near Atlantis when we went, although I have read about people who have on this site. We just did the tour through Disney. You might want to ask about it on the regular question threads or do a search to see if someone has asked it before. I discovered these Disboards before we went on our last cruise and I learned so much. The people on here are so willing to share their information and stories.

We did the glass-bottom boat trip on our stop in Nassau, then took a carriage ride around the town. Both were just OK, as was the entirety of Nassau, for that matter. This time we're doing B2B four- and three-day cruises and may just stay on the boat for one of the Nassau stops. We're thinking about the Atlantis or the neighboring hotel that gives you beach privileges there for the other.
Palo definitely is worth a trip. The food is great and so is the atmosphere. It wouldn't ruin the cruise to miss it or anything, but it is very nice if you can fit it in.

Hi Everyone! My husband and I just booked the Wonder for June 1st a couple of weeks ago............This is our first Disney cruise and we can't wait! We've only been on one other cruise and that was for our Honeymoon, 15 years ago come this June! So we decided to cruise again for our anniversary!
I've joined the DISboards a few years back but have not been able to spend time on these boards for the last 2 years or so. Since we have booked the cruise I have been reading and gaining valuable information from this site. I first came to these boards to get some info. about buying DVC which we did......and love!!! So, I'll be around doing my research and taking plenty of notes between now and June 1st.
I'm sure I'll be posting some questions as we get closer to the cruise. I think I finally figured out what double dipping means..........please correct me if I'm wrong.............does double dipping mean making two stops in Castaway Cay?
There's a lot of cruise lingo I need to learn.

Welcome and Happy Anniversary!
We went to the DVC presentation and few years ago and thought about it but didn't buy. At the time we felt like there were a lot of other places we wanted to go see on vacations. But it is funny that since then, we have been back to Disney every year! Maybe we should have bought? Ask away if you have any questions. We will be going for the 4th time but there are still things I don't know.
Less than 5 months to go. . .

We skipped Nassau last time and will probably do so again this time. I prefer to spend time on the ship when it is nice and uncrowded.
Double-dip does indeed mean we get two stops at Castaway Cay. Our daughter cannot wait as that was her favorite part of the trip. Of course, I think it was mine too. The sand was so incredible for building castles ;)
We are DVC members as well. In fact, we are using points to cruise in just 2 weeks. Everyone always says it is a waste of points, but we found a week that worked very well and made sense. We've been members for 6+ years.
Less than 6 months to go!

On one of our trips to WDW (before we bought into DVC) we were given an invitation to sit through the presentation. The invitation was sitting on our table in our room as we checked in. Disney offered a $100.00 credit to use anywhere on property during our stay, but at the time I couldn't talk my DH into sitting through it.............so we lost out on the $100.00. After that trip he started getting more interested so we bought a resale because we wanted the Villas at Wilderness Lodge as our home resort. We were sorry we hadn't bought sooner!
Okay, now I have a question about the cruise............have you ever participated in the fish extenders???? I just started reading about it and thought it was pretty interesting.

When I read your post about staying on the ship instead of touring I laughed because it reminded me of my honeymoon....................you see, one of the stipulations of our honeymoon cruise (my husband's request) was to not venture far away from the ship when we were in port. In other words, he had to see the ship at all times if we got off the boat!! We made 3 stops......the first one, we didn't even get off the ship; the second stop, we got off but stayed within walking distance and did a little shopping. On the third stop we got real adventurous and did the glass bottom boat tour! :boat:
We already discussed that when we stop in Nassau we can just get off and do a little shopping (within walking distance) which is fine with me. We will be hanging out on the ship as well on that day. He is real excited about making two stops at CC. I guess because he knows that the activities take place near the boat. We are not sure what activities we are going to do yet on CC. I know we will spend some time on the adult only beach. I am bringing my mask and snorkel so I'll probably do that........with or without DH.
Well, have a great time on your upcoming cruise. Are you going to write a trip report on it when you return??

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!! 15 years ago when I was planning my wedding I was more excited about the honeymoon cruise than I was about the wedding itself. When it came time to the cruise though, I lived on dramamine for the motion sickness so I slept through half of the cruise!! At least I didn't get sick! This time I'll be taking Bonine so I should be awake to enjoy everything.
We will be staying at Wilderness Lodge Villas after the cruise!
You're right, the wedding will be here before you know it!

Hi All,
My partner and I will be on the cruise. Staying on deck 8. This is our 3rd Disney Cruise. We've done the 4-night in April 06 and the 11-night Medit in May 07. (We need to figure out which 7-day cruise we're going to do in 2009 so we can get our discount when we book on-board.) The main reason we selected this cruise was the 2 stops at Castaway Cay. We won't be getting off the ship in Nassau. We'll be hanging around the Adult Pool with some cool beverages. We'll also be staying at the Poly for four nights after the cruise.
Can anyone direct me to a thread with recommendations on where to stay at Canaveral the night before?
I'm interested to see the schedule so I don't schedule Palo dinner on Pirate night :confused3
See ya all in a couple of months!

Welcome to the new posters.
I think we are leaning towards staying on the ship in Nassua this time as well. If we would leave I was thinking about maybe walking to the Nassau Pirate Museum, but I'm not sure. They have a website and it has been talked about on these boards, but I'm not sure how far of a walk it is from the ship and what part of town the walk is through. Does anyone know anything about it?
Here is another thought about staying on the ship-we were at the movies recently and they had a preview for Prince Caspian (the next book in the Chronicles of Narnia after the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.) We noticed it is a Disney-produced movie and it opens in mid-May. It may be fun to catch that on the ship that day if it is playing. We saw POTC 3 on our last cruise and Cars on the cruise before that, both shortly after they had opened and it was neat. popcorn::
We are getting a taste of Disney next weekend, but I would rather be on the cruise. . .

Hi, Everyone! I'll also be going with everyone June 1. I can't wait! It will be me (Linda)
DD (Beth)
DGD (Kayla) 6
My SIL (Sheila)
Her DGD (Cameron) 9
Her DGS (Tyler) 8
This is my 2nd cruise. My first was on HAL with my mom to the Baltic area. This is everyone else's first time. My DGD keeps talking about when we're going on the "Mickey boat."
I see there a couple of groups from St Louis. Howdy! We live in So County.
I do have a question. I know the dates for 2009 are out already but what about if you want to book again for 2009? Are cruises booked up already? I know some itineries go faster than others. And early sitting goes pretty fast, too. Or do you just book something and rebook later for what you really need?
TIA

Welcome! My husband and I are St. Charles Co. transplants-originally from So Co! (Oakville, actually-we both grew up there) Unfortunately I don't know anything about your '09 cruise question-we have never booked that far in advance. We have always booked about 6 months ahead of time, but have been able to get early seating all but once. Looks like you have a neat group!

Thanks for the reply. My daughter drives up to St Charles to work at the casino everyday. It's a long trip!
When I booked this cruise, I knew I wanted to go again just because of all the fun trip reports. I want to try to go at lease once a year. So, onboard, I want to book another year in advance. Maybe someone else knows how to do this and get the itinery you want...

Well, all I can say is that you are very smart for planning ahead to book onboard. This will be our 4th cruise in as many years and we have never once booked onboard! We would say we wanted to do some other type of vacation the next year, but then would decide later to do the cruise again. We could have saved a lot of money over the years.

We're also planning on booking onboard for 2009. I'll let you know if I find out any solid info or tips.
BTW, I don't really consider myself to be from St Louis, but I was in fact born there. My family lived there for about 7 years before moving to Virginia when I was 8 months old. I haven't been back much, so I don't know the area at all. My dad, who grew up in Kansas, has always been a big Cards fan, and it rubbed off on me (although, I now have a team in Washington DC to root for, too).

We are all home today with a snow day!! At least it makes is a 3 day weekend!!! However I am a little worn out from shoveling. Wish I was laying out at CC instead!!:goodvibes
We have bought our plane tickets (good deal on Southwest) and we are staying a fews days before the cruises ( we are doing a B2B with the 3day after our cruise) at the parks. We fly in late Thurs. and go to parks on Fri and Sat. Has anyone else made their plans yet?? We are also trying to pick the days we are doing Palo and excrusions. Dh looked up old navigators for Double dips and it looked like there was Palo brunch on Nassau day. We'll see if that is really true. We get to make our ressies on march 3rd.
Have a great one. It looks like there are a lot of people from St. Louis on the cruise!! Go Cards!!

Thanks for the organizer owensjro! Like E&B Mom, we are also home because of the snow today. It is a great time to check out these boards. I think we got about 6-8 inches, which is a lot for us! By the way, I am Robin and my husband is Chris, and of course DS #1 (11) and DS #2 (8).
Our plans:
We are flying on AA the morning of the cruise (6:45 am flight!). We have done this before and never had a problem, although I have to admit I was much more relaxed last year when we did a land & sea and I didn't have to worry about getting on the ship.
Thanks E & B Mom, I marked March 3rd on my calendar for booking. We still haven't decided if we are going to do anything in Nassau. Just an FYI for the new cruisers, you can book excursions, Palo, spa, etc. at 75 days before the cruise. If you have cruised before it is 90.
We are going to try Universal this time after the cruise, so when we get off the ship we are renting a car and driving there for 3 days. I hope we like it, they have some good information on these boards about the Universal parks, hotels and restaurants just like they do with Disney. Has anyone else been? Did you like it as well as Disney? I am also looking forward to having a car, as we have never had one in Orlando.
I think we have something like 120 days or so to go. . .

Well, we got back last weekend from a 7N Eastern on the Magic so now I am in full swing for this next cruise. We actually had the June cruise booked first with my parents and decided to do last week's cruise on DVC points when we realized we couldn't wait that long ;)
The cruise was awesome and we're very excited for the next one. CC was too cold this time around so being there twice in June is going to be great.
We're still deciding how we're getting down. My daughter has her dance recital Saturday which should be done by 2:30pm. If we drive down after that it's going to be tough but doable. If we fly down the cost ends up being an extra $1000 or so. We'll be staying at the Animal Kingdom Villas for 3 nights after the cruise.

We live just a few blocks from where it happened and know a lot of the people. It is so so sad. We were about 2 blocks away last night at school conferences when DD called and told us what happened. We ran home and on the way saw all the cars. The mayors wife comes into the little store I work at and we talk a lot. I also have met Officer Ballman at one of our neighborhood parties and he is so nice. He had young children. Very sad around here and a little uneasy about the kids going to school but know that is the best. Thanks for thinking of us.

I don't have any scrapbooking suggestions, but I just thought of something that you should do for her while on the cruise as I was reading your post. I've read about it on these boards. Bring something like a pillowcase or a picture frame matte, and give it to your room steward on the first night. They will take it and have it "signed" by all the characters and I think leave it for you in your room when it is done.

Unfortunately, we're first-timers and have to wait for the 75-day mark. Should I expect anything to be unavailable? Palo dinner? With that one I'm not sure how to plan what night I want. Since I don't know my dining rotation yet, I don't know what I'll be missing. Is night #4 the night we repeat one of the resuarants? Is that the most popular night for Palo?

It will be the third night that's the repeat, and that's the pirate night menu. So the rotations will be:
TAAP
APPT
PTTA
You won't know until you check in what rotation you have - it's printed on your Key to the World card. However, a general rule of thumb is for each seating (Main, Late) the earliest time is families with small children, the middle time is families with mid-age children, and the latest time is mostly adults. Of course, I can't remember which rotation is first... :confused3

I don't see how they could base both rotation and seating time on the age of the party. That would mean families with small kids get the earliest seating one dining room, families with big kids get the middle seating at another dining room, while adults get the latest seating in the third dining room. So who's eating at the other seatings in each dining room?
I think I also read that it was the rotation that might be based on ages, but I'll see if I can find that again.

You're right - I meant each rotation. I got my terminology confused! :rotfl:
It's the same for each seating. We had late seating on our 7-night, but the first rotation and boy was it *full* of families with small children! There were a few families with older kids, but there were usually smaller kids in their parties as well. I don't remember seeing any groups of just adults.

We finally hit the 75-day mark for first-time cruisers, and I was able to try my hand at Palo reservations.
Night three was completely booked, so I was looking at night 2 (first day at C.C.). Any disadvantage to this over nights 1 or 4? Not knowing the dining rotation it seems night 2 would be the best second choice after night 3, right? Since those are the nights that repeat dining rooms. The only problem might be if we're talking about Animator's which has a show that doesn't repeat on night 3.
In any case, I think we will book Palo later (our normal dining time is Main dining). This will give us time to visit the regular dining room with the kdis if we want, and then send them to the kids club while we go to Palo.
Am I imagining this correctly?

Welcome to all.
Mrs. Mombo-You will have a great time on the cruise. We stayed at Port Orleans FQ a few years ago. Your 5-year old will love the dragon slide. My youngest was 5 when we were there and he did. It was funny because there was another little boy who kept going down but he would pass everyone who was waiting and go right up the front of the line every time. When my oldest asked him why he was doing that he said it was because he had "a fastpass." We thought that was hilarious. He was obviously paying attention when he was in the parks!

We're at about 70 days and I'm starting to think about packing. In this, one important thing came to mind:
Is anyone else planning on bringing a fish extender? I know my DD loved checking it when we went back to our room on our 7-night in January to see if anyone had left us treats. I'm planning on bringing it this time around as well - if only to leave treats for my own DD in! :rotfl:
I'd be more than happy to compile a list of folks with Fish Extenders and their stateroom numbers for treat-leaving purposes. On our last cruise, I believe each family did one treat-drop for the whole cruise (rather than one per day, etc) for each other stateroom on the list. This was done separately from DIS tag (which never actually reached our stateroom :sad2:).
So is anyone else out there planning to bring a fish extender? I have to know if I just need to by trinkets for the DD, or if I need to buy in bulk for the whole ship :scared: :lmao:
Amanda!

Hello! I am new to this board...and I am happy to have found it! We (DH, DD5, and DD1) can't wait to take our first Disney cruise. We have been to DW many times... anything we should know to help us pack? I was also interested to know what the fish extender is? Thanks Melissa

Is anyone else planning on bringing a fish extender?
My DW thought she read on one of these threads that fish extenders were no longer allowed on board.
However, if they are still allowed, where to get them - or how do we make them.
She seems to have some idea of what they are, but I admit I have not really a clue.

Outside each stateroom door is a fish. A fish extender is a pocket or series of pockets that you can hang from the fish. Ours has a pocket for each of us (Me, DW, DD).
The idea is that during the cruise you wander around and leave little trinkets for people in their extenders. Some people leave candy, stickers, etc. Just something fun for people to find when they return to the room.
If you do a search for fish extender in google you will see an example of one someone is selling on ebay. We made our own.
As for whether they are allowed or not there was no problem on our January '08 cruise. I have not heard anything indicating they were not allowed.

Here are a couple of other threads - the first has written instructions, and the second is a really long "What is a fish extender" thread (the original, I think):
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1690450
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607
I got my instructions from Sewing.org, but I can't seem to find it online now. I think it was called a "locker pocket" or something - I'm pretty sure the original link is in the second thread somewhere, but it may not be working anymore.

Hello!
I have been reading up on the fish extenders, and think it sounds like lots of fun.. count us in too, please! (Me, DH, DD5 & DD1)
I was also wondering if the little girls wear their princess costumes on board like they do in WDW? My daughter would really like to bring hers!

Just had to post that I'm getting so excited about this cruise! Just over 2 months to go. It's going to be our last vacation as a family of 3, so I'm really hoping to make it even more special for DS. Baby #2 is due in September, so I just make the 24 week cutoff!
Are any of you spending time at WDW either before or after the cruise? We are doing 2 nights before and 2 nights after (gotta love DVC!)
Come on June 1st!! :cool1: :yay:

We'll be doing 3 nights after at AKV (DVC is awesome!) We only have 2 days of park tickets (left-overs - we're trying to make this a "budget" trip), but plan to fill our third day with DTD, or maybe a water park or something. We're driving from NC, so Sunday will be an all-day drive back.
I'm really mostly excited because Star Wars Weekends will be going on while we're there! I'm bummed that we're missing the Flower and Garden Festival, but SWW is a decent trade-off, and I'm hoping Midway Mania will be in previews as well.

owensamo - We're staying at AKV pre-cruise and SSR post-cruise. First time at both resorts so it will be fun. DH and DS3 are both looking forward to Star Wars Weekend - that's how I was able to talk DH into staying extra nights! We will also be there for the last day of the Flower and Garden Festival.
For fish extenders, it is me, DH, and DS3. We are staying on Deck 6.
Hi everyone, this is "Bill". 3DAN. We are now going with you on the 'Wonder!!!!

It says like 63 acres of waterpark!!!! What the hey!!!! That is big. Anyone else done that excursion? Just how good is it? Do I need to do other excursions? what would Mammaw be able to do ? remember , she is 102, and can still walk some if needed, like stepping into a bus. I can always help her some. We would love to go on the next cruise but we are going to Switzerland for 2 weeks that summer!!!!! So I think that will be our trip for the summer.

Hey to Michelle, Amanda, and Jim. More greetings to come. From Remulac(Mork and Mindy). May I be dumb and ask if you guys have planned a disboard meet yet? In the past , we would meet on the starboard side of deck 10 before the sailaway party. Now , as I recall, we won't be required to go to the lifeboat drill due to the fact that Mammaw will be in a wheel chair. KIMMIE,,,,,,,,YOUHOO,,,,,,Yes , I still like to have fun here on the boards. Haven't been here in a while. I feel like I am releasing all of the built up frustrations. Mammaw just got hauled off to the hospital by ambulance. They had to break in to her house with the police and have the fire department come to see her. It seems to be okay. A bladder infection. She fell and couldn't get up(boy am I going to raz her about that!!!) I guess they will keep her for a day or two. The hospital is full and they have to keep her in the emergency room.
Do you guys know of any excursions that would be good for Mammaw?

Hi to Ottes4,,,, Post a lot here and keep us company. Ask questions and we'll see what we can tell you. Have fun on the boards like I do if it doesn't rub you the wrong way. Disney cruising is the greatest!!!!! I am looking forward to pirate night. Mammaw hasn't seen it yet. She didn't see it on the last cruise we took her on. I just got back from seeing Mammaw. She doesn't look the greatest right now. I don't know quite what to make out of it. The electricity went out in her house last night in the living room and i couldn't figure out when. When I replaced the fuse, it immediately blew times two. A total of three fuses lost. I had to go to the Walmart to get replacements. Without an obvious source, I ended up calling an electrician,,,,,,,$$$$$$$$$.
The porch light in the back is shorted. Unknown location. It will require rewiring later on when she is back in the house. Disconnected for now.

I have a Palo reservation for night 3 at 6pm, and my normal dinner time is late seating.....will I miss anything from the dining room?
Melissa
MELISSA,,,,1. I am a doctor. So is my wife, Angela. 2. Pirate night,,,, It is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On one night of the cruise,,, After the show is over,,, on deck 9 and 10,,, there is a deck party. All of the characters come out and dance. Eventually, Captain Hook and Mr. Smee come out with some of their pirate friends and take over the ship.. Of course, Mickey is not around and the other characters let Captain Hook know that Mickey will not like it. For a while there is pirate dancing and fun and the other characters are around. THEN,,,, Mickey appears in the top of a smoke stack. Captain Hook realizes that he is defeated. Mickey says some more(don't want to give it all away) and this is followed by fireworks , right there at night off of the ship.. There is also a buffet going on , on deck 9 while all of this is happening,, TRULY a FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE and one you will remember for the rest of your life.
All of the shows on the ship are only seen on Disney Cruise line and cannot be seen on land, even at WDW. You must see all of the live shows in the Walt Disney Theater!!!!!! I don't remember the last question.

Melissa - We are also doing Palo on night 3. I am debating changing it because it is Pirate Night (or at least it should be - I've never done the Double Dip so someone correct me if I'm wrong). Pirate Night in the regular restaurants has a special menu and even the servers are dressed as pirates.
I'm thinking about weaseling out on sewing my fish extender and just get one off of ebay. It will look much better than anything I can create, I'm sure!!

I think right know they have cruises out through 2009. I think that the 2010's will come out after our cruise, closer to the end of the year. BUT, you can book any cruise to get the 10% off and the onboard credit and then change the reservation later. We, however, have never been smart enough to do this! The time is really going by fast now. 7 weeks!

We LOVE High School Musical 1&2 too. :lovestruc Do you? What is your favorite song?
Will you be joining us in the kids club on the ship? Have you been on the ship before? It's our first cruise.:thumbsup2

I want a fish extender. I could probably make one, except I don't think I could get any good fabric here, so I'll probably order it on e-bay.

Joann-
Welcome back to the board! My oldest daughter will turn 5 on June 12th and was very excited to hear about your girls... She is a huge princess fan! Last time at WDW she cost us close to $200 on a Belle costume! (though she did earn it) I just got caught up in the magic of it all, and she wanted to wear it around....so that is the story of the dress. The Belle costume is huge..lots of layers...just too big to take on the cruise. She will be bringing Snow White this time. Are your girls bringing their costumes? Glad to hear that you will also be bringing an fish extender, it sounds like lots of fun.

Hi all!
We haven't booked any excursions, just planning to do the beach thing at CC and no clue what to do with three small kids in Nassau.:confused3 :confused3
Personally, I'd like to go to Atlantis and visit the aquarium and then have our own little reserved spot under a beach umbrella for someone to keep bringing me cool refreshments with pineapple wedges. :beach: But it doesn't look like this combo is available in the Disney excursions. Does anyone know if you can go to the aquarium with the kids as a break from the beach?
Joann
Joann,,, We have a similar problem with Mammaw. She is 102 at that time and we don't know what to do. Since we are doing back to back cruises, we are committed to doing the aquaventure at Atlantis Saturday on the second cruise. The first chance appeared to be sold out. HOWEVER,, I would check on it or call DCL just to make sure. It appears to be THE THING TO DO. I suspect they save some back for people as their ressie time arrives. But, Mammaw will likely sit around. MAYBE she will actuall dangle her feet in some of the water. I most surely will get her any food or drink she might want. $$$$$$$$$$ X2 or even 3.
It would be nice to get some kind of tour to take her on when we get there on Tuesday. Let me know if you see something that also might suit us and her. She will be in a wheel chair that is collapsable and she should be able to walk a little bit. Chiquita time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep - We're traveling all the way from Ouagadougou! (Say that 3 times fast, yes there'll be a quiz at the DIS meet n greet! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ) I haven't left Africa since last June, so we are SOOOOOOOOO ready for this trip!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :dance3: :dance3: :cheer2: :cloud9: :thumbsup2

I haven't checked this thread in too long!
Bill: hope Mammaw is doing better. Our prayers are with her.
Melissa: we have reservations at Palo on day 3 also!
Is there a time to set up a meet? I see a few of us have kids around the same age (mine are dd 9 and ds 7) it may be fun for them to meet. Also time for DH and me to have some tasty adult beverages:banana:
Looking forward to cruising with you all!!
Almost forgot. would love to be included in fish extender!

We are still here, counting down the days!

Melissa,
I'm still around! It's been crazy busy at work.
Here's what I have for the Fish Extender list:
owensamo & owensjro (Amanda and Jim, DD6) - Deck 6
Michellepooh - (Michelle) Deck 6
Ottes4 (Melissa, DD5) - Deck 6
3princessMommy (Joann, DH, DD6, DD4, DD16mo) - Deck 6
Did I miss anyone?
Joann - I tried the link you included for the fish extender game, but it went to some other random post that didn't seem related.
As for the meet, on our last 4-night, we met in the Promenade Lounge at 3pm. It was after lunch, before the drill, gave everyone time to mix and mingle, but still get to the drill, then the party in plenty of time. On deck would have been nice, but it was kind of rainy, so the promenade lounge was a good call for that particular day.
We're taking it easy - beach days on CC (rent bikes, dig in the sand, do a treasure hunt, explore the observation post, maybe hit Serenity Bay...) and we'll treat Nassau as a sea day and stay on the ship. I kind of want to at least get off and do some random souvenir purchases, but I think we'll wait a year or two and then do the zoo and pirate museum, maybe during an Atlantis stay or something (I want to stay there someday...).
46 days!

Hey, if anyone is interested and can make it the shuttle is currently scheduled to launch on Saturday:
Date: May 31 +
Mission: STS-124
Launch Vehicle: Space Shuttle Discovery
Launch Site: Kennedy Space Center - Launch Pad 39A
Launch Time: 5:01 p.m. EDT
Description: Space Shuttle Discovery on mission STS-124 will transport the Kibo Japanese Experiment Module - Pressurized Module (JEM-PM) and the Japanese Remote Manipulator System (JEM-RMS) to the International Space Station.
Unfortunately we aren't getting in until 8pm so we will miss it. Ah well.
The schedule is subject to change as always.

I saw that on the Kennedy Space Center website about the launch, too. We would love to see that but I am not going to pay to change flights. We are flying in on Sun. morning (which we have done a few times before), but I am a little worried this time with all of the cancellations lately! We were thinking of going to the KSC to tour it on the day we return from the cruise, though, has anybody been there? I have read some not-so-good reviews, but my 8-year old has been studying space and is really into it.

We have been there twice. Once when our daughter was 4 and once when she was 5. Or something like that. She enjoyed it both times. There's not a ton there, but she loved seeing the rockets, walking into the shuttle, the robot explorers, and the play area. We did not do the tours with her as we didn't think she could stay interested long enough. Oh, she liked the movie too.

Amanda - Could you also add that my room also includes DH and DS who is 3 to the fish extender list? Thanks so much for keeping up with that.
Glad to hear that the excitement is building for our cruise. We can't wait!!
We will also be treating Nassau as a sea day. We've been there, done that. Really wasn't much to interest us. We'd rather stay on the nearly empty ship. I'm really looking forward to the 2 days at Castaway Cay. This is our first time doing a Double Dip.

ON the bright side, we'll probably just stay another night at SOG so some extra time at MK on Saturday. But I had hoped for a relaxing Sunday morning to get on the ship, now we'll be a little rushed.

So there is a tour (maybe on a bus I read?) that you can take, but you can also just explore some of the things on your own? Are the things you mentioned-space shuttle, robots, etc. all in the same building? I don't think we want to spend all day there. Thanks!
Hi everyone,,, I'm tired. mammaw is in the step down unit. Not eating very well. Seems to be in good spirits. She is very excited about the cruise and telling everyone about it at the hospital where the unit is located. I need to call her today and will shortly. Any ideas on a shore excursion?

The main Visitor's Center is a complex with a number of buildings - there's a science show that's really good, the IMAX theaters, the Robot Scouts walk-through dark-ride kind of thing, a mock-up Space Shuttle you can walk through, a mission info center with briefings given at different times, a rocket garden, and a play area - those, along with the cafeteria and the store are the places we've seen. We've gotten there around opening and usually leave around 2 or 3. There are a couple of other buildings at the main complex we haven't been in yet, so I don't know what's there.
In addition, there's a basic tour included with admission - it's 3 hours. You get on a bus, and they take you to various other locations at KSC - there's a shuttle center with info, a Saturn V center with info... I think you can stay as long as you want at any of these and just hop the next bus. There are also some other tours that are longer and are an extra fee on top of the admission - these usually get you a more in-depth picture or closer to some of the buildings.
Finally, there's also the Astronaut Hall of Fame, which is just outside of KSC. Many tickets include an admission to this location as well. We haven't been there so I have no idea what's there.
You could probably spend a good day or more at KSC (And the hall of fame). For us, with driving time to and from Orlando, it's the day's activity - when we got back last time, I think we hung out at the pool, had dinner, etc.

I agree, I need a 12 step program, too. I am addicted to these boards! I play around every chance I get, (even at work.) I go back and forth between a few boards. I want to look at other stuff on the main board, but am afraid to. I have a hard enough time keeping up with the ones I do watch.
We are getting so excited! I am on the designing boards the most, getting all these ideas for making t-shirts, activity books, autograph books, etc. Problem is, there isn't enough time in the day to make all I want to make.:rotfl: Does everyone get autographs of all the characters? or just pics? both? Seems like that would take up a lot of time but if everyone is doing it...
Well, I'd better go do some work before it's time to go home.

I'm having a hard time getting everything organized for the trip. We are doing fish extenders (those are already ordered and on their way). We had planned to do pillowcases - but the lady that was going to do them can't get them to us in time because her machine broke. So maybe we'll do the photo mat instead. Although I don't know when I might be able to get to a craft store (not many of those floating around West Africa). Looks like more internet shopping this weekend! :cool1: :cool1:
Last summer when we went to DLP, the kids got autograph books. I had hoped that it would help them be less shy with the characters. They were thrilled with the autographs, but still hid during most of the photo ops. :confused3 :confused3
Now for the fish extender gifts....somehow I don't think "Toh" the national dish will make the trip (it's a crushed millet porridge gelatin type thing:scared1: :scared1: ). Hmmmmmmmmmmm.............. :confused3
I'd better get myself organized. I have to go to Germany next week, then I'm hosting spa day and book club, then it's the annual garage sale, then off to South Africa for a conference, then back to pack and off to WDW!!!! It's going to be a busy month! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I've ordered the magnetic paper and downloaded some graphics, but I haven't really thought about what I want to do. I've seen some threads with people making designs for others. Is that free? How do you make it into a magnet?
So, DH made Flounders reservations for the baby on Thursday morning at CC. We want to have some adult time at Serenity Bay. Has anyone ever gotten a massage there? Is it worth it? Or is it just better to lounge on the beach? :beach:

Where did you order your fish extenders? I would like to do one but don't have the inclination to make one. What kind of pillowcase were you going to do? I am doing one but I just bought white and was going to have the characters sign in colored sharpies. What else do people do with them? I was also going to look for autograph photo mats this weekend, too. I could look for 2 if you want.. I'd be happy to bring you one and pillowcases, too.
How long will you be in the States? You don't come all the way here just for a 4 day cruise, do you? How long is the commute? Do you have family/friends over here? I see that you're going to Tortola next year. What made you decide on that one? I have been undecided about which one to book. I know I want a 7 day, somewhere. Someone said if you book the next one before you go on this one and bring your confirmation statement, you could still get the 10% off that you normally get for booking onboard. Anyone know if that's true?

I found some extra wide mats on Amazon, so those should be on their way. :thumbsup2 There is a DISer who had offered to personalize pillow cases with Disney characters and the kids' names. I ordered three, but then her machine broke. :sad1: :sad1: But I think we're good with the photo mats. Thanks for the offer though!
We are coming back to the U.S. for about 6 weeks. 1 week at WDW then the cruise, then off to visit family in TX and VA. :cool1: :cool1: :woohoo:
We decided to reserve the Tortola cruise next summer because that's when we'll transfer to another assignment and we get some vacation time. :worship: :worship: Plus, I've never been to Tortola, but I've been to all the Western Caribbean stops. :beach: DH decided to reserve now in case prices go up, but then to rebook on board if it's cheaper with the 10% discount. :teacher:
It'd be nice if we could get it cheaper, but it's always possible that the USG will say we have to change the dates too, so nothing's set in stone at this point.
I wish this hourglass would go faster!!!! :hourglass I need to be on a cruise! :dance3:
Joann,,,,, if that was you,, then , yes , I am a doctor. So is my wife Angela. It can be kind of interesting on a cruise. I helped one of our friends whose dad went into congestive heart failure from refusing his meds during the Panama cruise. I helped another lady who had food stuck in her esophagus on the western cruise at Key West. She was terrified and I was able to reassure her what was occurring and also reassured the nurse on the cruise ship by letting her know what was the correct action. That lady eventually was taken off the ship to the emergercy room in Key West and we set sail.. I never got to see the hospital, although I would like to.

I just wanted to share my happy little bit of news - I had my ultrasound today and we are expecting a little boy!!! We already have a son who is 3.5. Talk about getting a kid hooked on Disney cruising young... I think in utero would count. I will be easy to spot on the cruise - I'll be the big pregnant lady!
How many people are doing the fish extenders? Just trying to get an idea so that when I'm out and about if I see something good I know how many to grab.

Melissa, I don't know yet. I'd like to, but I don't WANT to make one and I am having a hard time rationalizing buying one because I COULD make one (if I wanted to). Know what I mean? I am making other things for this trip and a FE is about the last thing on the list. Should I just bite the bullet and buy one? (I probably will) I'd like to have one - I think my DGD6 would get a kick out of it. So, I have not read the thread yet - do we get things for each day or once during the trip or how exactly does it work? Do we get things for each person in the room or the kids or the family? I know they are supposed to be small items - maybe from our city? Any ideas?

I was just reading another thread - a bunch of people get simple (inexpensive) canvas bags or similar to use as fish extenders. You could easily pick up a canvas bag from Michael's and use that. Even better, you could probably pick up a 3-pack of some of the smaller ones, and with some hot glue or quick sewing, have yourself a Fish Extender with 3 pockets! Quick, easy and relatively inexpensive - and the kids can always help out by decorating with Sharpies or fabric markers/paints.
I kinda wish I'd thought of that before going to the trouble of making mine! :rotfl2:

On our 7-night cruise in January, we did a 1-visit/week sort of thing Typically, there was something in each of our pockets, but it was often something small (dumdum suckers, etc) with something larger for the littles. We ended up with a ton of pirate tatoos, stickers, notepads, lollypops - 75% of it appeared to be from the Target Dollar Spot! :rotfl: We decided this time we'll do our shopping elsewhere. ;)
I think something from our city or state would be cool - on the 7-night, we did a bag exchange at the DIS meet with stuff from our state/country, which was awesome. We got a bag from California, and there was a group there from the Faukland Islands whose bag looked really cool too. I've got some places scoped out to pick up stuff for NC-themed things, so I could easily do hometown/home state items if that's what everyone wants!

The party is on the deck later. You have time to see the 2nd show or eat if you have late seating. They have a huge buffet with desserts. From what I remember, it is actually pretty late. I think the first year we went and my kids were a little younger they couldn't stay up that late. If you have little ones, you probably want to get a nap in that day so they can stay up!

Hey everyone! I've been a little busy and haven't been on the boards lately and I'm just checking in...........it's hard to believe that we are close to a month away!! I'm glad to see that someone else is staying on deck 2. I thought for a moment that I would be the only one staying on that deck. Just to recap, this is our first disney cruise and our last cruise was 15 yrs. ago for our honeymoon, so needless to say, we are getting a little excited. :yay: :cool1:
Me too,,,, just touching base. I have to go and see Mammaw tomorrow. Some days she seems like she is doing well and others I think we won't be going. It has me a little nervous about the cruise. I don't know if we will go if she doesn't go. The whole premise was to celebrate her 102nd birthday. I have figured out that there aren't really any other excursions that we will be doing with her at Nassau. Just the Atlantis aquaventure on the 3 day 2nd cruise.

So I have completed the first of 3 international trips in the next month! Yeah!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:
Two weeks home, then off to South Africa for a conference. Then 5 days and off to WDW! :woohoo: :woohoo:
Very happy to be home and connected once again. Now, let's see what do I need to do between now and then....:scared1:  :scared1:  :scared1:

I'm glad to see that someone else is staying on deck 2. I thought for a moment that I would be the only one staying on that deck.
After (or during) the cruise, I want a report on the deck 2 cabins. we've already booked our cruise for 2009 (Magic 7-day Eastern with a stop in Tortola) and our reservations are on deck 2 - right under the galley for Lumiere's. I'm a little worried about noise.

No problem......except we will be going to WDW afterwards for 5 nights so I won't be able to send the report until the following week. :mickeyjum

Mammaw will be so tickled to meet everyone. I just hope that we make it. She looked a little better this evening. Guess what???? I went to her house today and found out that the toilet was overflowing flooding the first floor and draining down into the basement. Not too bad, though. It was a low flow and appears that I caught it early.

Just checking in... 31 days until we leave... :yay: :dance3:
My DGD and I went shopping this past weekend for our FE. Boy, she wanted to buy EVERYTHING!! It was hard to tell her no to most things. But we did get a few. Hope everyone likes them - I've never done this before. My FE should have been made over the weekend and shipped on Monday so I should be getting it soon. I'm also glad we're not all lonely down on deck 2. I thought we were gonna be all alone... I need to be in the middle on the bottom so I don't get sick.
Bill, looking forward to meeting Mammaw. My gram was so special to me. She passed away when she was 94 and I still miss her (8 years later). Cherish those times with her... they go too fast.
Hey guys,,, I had to drive to southern Indiana to pay to get the tree taken down for Mammaw. HUGE TREE!!!!!! $$$$$$$$$$$ She is weak and depressed. I just don't know what to expect. Only 30 days left!!!! She wants to go home and yet she can't. Two hours down and then two hours back.

That's where my room is.........on deck 2 in the middle ............and I think we are on the starboard side. We might be neighbors! I also get motion sickness. I just bought some Bonine. I haven't tried it yet but I heard it works just as good as dramamine. The dramamine made me too drowsy when I took it 15 yrs. ago. My husband claims I took the less drowsy formula back then but I don't remember. When I read the package I noticed that dramamine causes marked drowsiness, and the less drowsy dramamine and the bonine claim to cause drowsiness...........but I don't know what the difference is between "marked drowsiness" and just plain "drowsiness". I am thinking maybe marked drowsiness is more drowsy than regular drowsiness........???????:confused3
Anyway, I 'd rather be drowsy than sick!!!!

Has everyone checked the stateroom report for their stateroom? You can find them at the link below. Not all rooms have reports. They seem to comment mostly on noise level.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/roomlist.cfm
After reading the reports, is anyone nervous about it?
Our's does not have a report, but I checked the one for the corresponding room on the other side of the ship, and it sounded fine. Actually, some complained about noise from the connecting room. But since my family will be using both connection rooms, I'll know who to blame for the noise.

Hi everybody, I have been super busy. I just saw Mammaw today. She is in a nursing home to build up her strength. I am uncertain as to the chance of her going on the trip. I hope so, as I am out a ton of DVC points with no recovery if she doesn't . I think she will be coming with us. Right now, odds are, oh, maybe, 70:30 for. She seems depressed and this is affecting her appetite. I don't know about other factors, yet. Plan is to bring her up here to Indy at least the week before the cruise and get settled. Clothes , suitcases, and to assess her general medical condition. I can get her blood tested if I need to. Boy, am I tired. Mammaw's yard, my yard in southern Indiana, my yard here in Indy, the office, bills for Mammaw, bills for us, Drivers ed for Billy, school every day for the both of them( private school and we drive them there). Mammaw turns 102 on Saturday. We will be celebrating it on the ship. I don't know what day as of yet. (another decision) WAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I NEED DANCING BANANAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're booked through Small World, and our docs came from DCL. I don't know if there are TAs that they send the docs to instead, though - I suppose it depends on the deal they have with DCL.

The only thing that will keep you from boarding is your photo id/passport. You actually don't need any of the cruise docs as you can fill them all out once at port. But, if you print them out and bring them (the important one being the charge authorization form) it saves time in line.

Jasmine (DD) age 19
Brandi (DD) age 16
We have been on 5 - 7 day cruises with Disney but this is our 1st 4 day.
Are there any college students going?
My daughters have always been together either in the Oceaneer's Lab or Stack. My nineteen year old placed a post on the college board but so far no one is cruising. Hopefully, she'll have better luck on this board.
Well, 2 weeks left and we're counting down. It's time to try-on the dreaded clothes this weekend. Hopefully they're fit. See everyone soon.

It's fun wandering the halls looking at the door decorations and trying to find extenders.

Hi everybody,,, Yes, It's me, Bill. Mammaw, I think, is doing better. (NO JINX) I think we are going to make it okay. We will be getting her about the 24 or possibly on the 26, Memorial day. I hear that she is telling everybody that the cruise is coming up and she is very excited. Especially about the food. She got to go to the optometrist the other day. She has a bad right cataract. They imply that the surgeon won't consider doing it before the cruise. I'll call them and see if it is possible or reasonable. I'll try to post some more. How are you guys getting to the port? We are arriving at 11:30 at night on Saturday and staying at the Radisson at the port. I was thinking about a limo. What do you think? I've used two of them in the past. They always seem to be a little crowded despite advance knowledge of the people and cases.

Hey everyone what's up! I know I'm joining in a little late but I just found out I would be going on this cruise for my Graduation! :cool1: It was a last minute thing as we were originally going to Disneyland until the airline we were flying (skybus) went belly up. :sad1: But I am very excited as this will be my first time cursing on the Wonder! The best part is we will be staying on the ship for the three day making this my first back to back cruise! :woohoo:
Just some quick background info for ya guys. I have been on two seven day cruises, once around 2004 and then another for my 17th birthday in 2006. I will be cruising with my Mom and Dad as this is their Graduation gift to me! Don't I have the greatest parents! :thanks: They have been on more cruises than I can remeber with my Mom cruising the most out of my entire family! Fun fact for you guys: Next time your on the Magic you can see my family in the audience for the pretapped performance of "Twice Charmed" that plays in the staterooms. We are also in the new updated Disney Cruise Line travel channel special.
For the four night it will be just me and my Mom and were staying on Deck two in an inside stateroom as that was all that was available at the time we booked! Currently we are just taking it easy as the only thing we have planned is the Brunch at Palo which I'm super excited about as this is my first time cruising as an "adult". :cool1: :rotfl2:
We are then being joined by my Father for the three night and we have booked Palo for our first night and the catamaran snorkeling excursion on Nassua. :cool1: For this leg we got lucky and are staying on Deck 7 with a veranda and we think we got super lucky becuase they put us in a hadicap room (no idea why) thats all the way in the rear of the ship that appears to have an extra big veranda! :cool1:
I'm super excited about this cruise (More than I am about my Graduation on the 31st!) and can't wait to meet you all.

I have down 3:15 on Sunday, but not sure where. Should we plan for Deck 9 or 10 in case of good weather, and the Promenade Lounge if it's raining?
