Bite your tongue. It will NOT be raining. This is the SUNSHINE state!::yes::
So I was just imagining the downpour during boarding on my 4-night last April? :rotfl:At least it was sunny in January - but as it was a 7-night, the DIS meet was scheduled for the the second day! ;) I did skip the character breakfast in favor of the DIS meet though - and from the sounds of the new character breakfast, I think we got more character interaction at the meet! :lmao:
Okay, so where on Deck 9/10 should we plan to meet, since it's going to be sunny and beautiful?

Hi all,
We are on deck 7.
We also booked our excursions. Day 3 dinner at Palo (even though its pirate night!) Catamaran cruise around Nassau (then back to the ship), exotic Rasul (has anyone here done this?). Also booked the stingray encounter on Castaway Cay.
I told my son about the shuttle launch. I hope we can see it from our hotel (Country Inn and Suites)
Tricia
We are doing Palo day 3 also - 7pm.:cool1:

Yes. Your memory is obviously fuzzy. That would have been liquid SUNSHINE!:rotfl:

Joann,,,,, if that was you,, then , yes , I am a doctor. So is my wife Angela. It can be kind of interesting on a cruise. I helped one of our friends whose dad went into congestive heart failure from refusing his meds during the Panama cruise. I helped another lady who had food stuck in her esophagus on the western cruise at Key West. She was terrified and I was able to reassure her what was occurring and also reassured the nurse on the cruise ship by letting her know what was the correct action. That lady eventually was taken off the ship to the emergercy room in Key West and we set sail.. I never got to see the hospital, although I would like to.

I have down 3:15 on Sunday, but not sure where. Should we plan for Deck 9 or 10 in case of good weather, and the Promenade Lounge if it's raining?
Amanda
This sounds like a plan to me. As you already tried to clarify, though, where on deck 9 or 10? Having never been on board before, I'm not sure where to suggest. Thinking it might be nice to sit down, does Pinocchios Pizzaria make sense. Based on a recent Navigator it'll be open until 3:30.
We have just 6 more days until departing for the trip. We're spending 7 nights in WDW first. Anyone leaving home earlier than May 24th?

Forward is an adults-only area on Deck 9. Deck 10 forward is the Sports deck - there is some room between the basketball courts and the very front, though.
Here are pretty much all the possibilities:
Deck 10:
- Aft
- Mickey Pool Area Starboard
- Mickey Pool Area Port
- Goofy Pool Area Starboard
- Goofy Pool Area Port
- Cove Pool area Starboard
- Cove Pool area Port
- Forward (by the sports deck)
Deck 9:
- Mickey Pool on the Drink Station side (Port)
- Mickey Pool on Goofy's Galley side (Starboard)
- Goofy Pool Starboard
- Goofy Pool Port
- Deck 7:
- Aft - there's a "hidden" deck there with deck chairs and stuff. This would be a nice place to meet, and most likely fairly uncrowded. :cool1:
Alternatively, we could all meet on Deck 4 (Starboard or Port) with our bright orange life vests - then we could hang out longer as we all wait for the safety drill! :rotfl:
I'd prefer port-side for any outdoor meetings, as starboard is now the smoking side (Jim's allergic). My vote goes for the hidden deck on 7, though.

Hey All June DD'ers! We just got back from the mother's day first double to Castaway Cay! Lots of fun! FYI... first day at CC was really crowded so get there early BUT the second day it was DEAD. So dead that we got a hammock and our pick of places to hang. IT WAS LIKE THAT ALL DAY! This was my 5th Disney Cruise and I was shocked. We had beautiful weather and calm seas. Word was that a lot of the ship was staying on due to:
a) Laundry and getting ready for park visits after we got back
b) Sunburn/Hangover from Pirate Party the night before
c) A lot of stuff going on the ship (there was the princess autograph and photo sessions at 8:30am among other things)
So enjoy!
Looking forward to my next cruise in '09!

Hello to Everyone -
I haven't posted to our thread in months - but I, too, just read through all the posts from day 1. Work, school, and after-school activities have been taking over all my DIS time!
We've been to Nassau before, but never to Paradise Island. Yesterday, I booked a room at the Comfort Suites for use of all the Atlantis facilities for only $170 including taxes. (I've been PMing a DISer who's done this a couple of times, so I feel comfortable making the ressies) We are planning to see the aquarium and try out all the water slides and the lazy river.
My kids finish school this Friday the 23rd, so we'll be in full vacation mode!
We're headed down on Saturday to the Radisson- hoping to arrive from Atlanta in time to see the Shuttle launch. Anyone know about the crowds and traffic if we decide to try and see the launch from the beach?

On deck 7 go all the way aft. There are doors leading out to the back of the ship and maybe a dozen lounge chairs. Very nice area.

Jim may be packed, but Hannah and I still have a couple of loads of laundry to do before we can be completely ready to go. Hannah still hasn't decided what she's wearing for dress-up night - she has some formal gowns she doesn't get that much of an opportunity to wear, so I'm of a mind to let her pick out whatever she wants, even if it means she's overdressed - she's 6, she won't know the difference!
I think I will put my foot down on her bringing her tiara, though. princess: We'll save that for Formal night on a 7-nighter! :rotfl:
I do have my FE gifts pretty much done, and most of our non-clothing essentials are ready to go. Last night I even cleared out the cards for the digital camera, so now I have enough space to take probably 2000+ photos, which will be great, if I want to spend my whole vacation glued to the viewfinder of my camera!:rotfl2: I keep telling Jim I need more memory cards for the camera, but for some reason, he seems to think we're fine :rolleyes1

I haven't posted in a while, either. The last month or so has been so busy with end of the year school projects, make-up soccer games due to all the rain we have had, birthdays, etc. I have started putting clothes out but nothing is packed yet. My kids go to school until next Friday, so we are pushing it.
I hope everyone who is at the port on Sat. enjoys the shuttle launch. We are not flying in until Sun. morning.
Thanks for posting the Navigators!
We are going to the Pirate Museum on the Nassau day and may try to see Prince Caspian that day since it is showing now on the ship.
We are staying in Orlando for 3 days after the cruise. We were going to go to Universal, but changed our plans and decided to take advantage of free Sea World tickets (my dad and sister work for AB). We are staying at the Renaissance right across the street and may also go to Aquatica, the new Sea World water park. Anyone have any experience with this hotel or new park?
We are not doing a fish extender, but will try to make the meet. Hope everyone has a great cruise!

Good morning everyone! We have started to pack... my girls clothes are in the suitcase(so they can't wear them before we leave!) I am torn on what to pack for myself..I have read it is easy to overpack..
Another question.... we are staying overnight on Sat so what time should we plan to get to the port? I have also read that they hand out boarding passes based on how you check in(unless you are cat 1-3) I was thinking 10:45am does that sound too early or too late?
Have a good day everyone....10 days to go

I have been to auqutica before and its nice. Its very small and gets busy fast so you want to be there first thing in the morning when it opens. I recommend that you get in line immediately for the dolphin plunge and then go get chairs on the beach. I find the park to be over hyped but still fun. Disney's Water parks are better in MHO. Have fun.

We are staying near the airport Saturday night and intend to get to the port by 10am Sunday. In part because I don't want to risk delays with the drive...this way if we do encounter something we have more leeway. And another part is that I just want the vacation to start as early as possible. :)
The port itself will open at or around 10:30 and they will begin handing out boarding group numbers.

So, do I hook the old ones back up and do laundry so we can pack this weekend or do wait until next Thursday, hope Sears delivers (yeah right) and then do laundry and pack.
Ah decisions decisions.
Hannah has been home from school all week due to being sick. We're still not sure what she has but it is almost gone. We thought at first it was chicken pox (we figure she got it from the DISboards when we read 3PrincessMommy's post about being exposed ;) but she was vaccinated (no booster though). Doctor thinks it could have been chicken pox, strepp, fifth's, a combination of them, or something else. :) Unfortunately for me Hannah has been fine except for itchy spots so she is going stir crazy in the house. I can't just plop her in front of a tv like I usually can if she isn't feeling well. :) It's making getting work done (I work from home) rather difficult.
Hopefully we'll all be healthy and not cancelling our cruise at the last minute!!

You'll be happy to know that little Gracie was not exposed to Chicken Pox. It appears that her friend just had some bad mosquito bites after traveling outside Ouaga and sleeping without a mosquito net. Now, one might ask why his guardians didn't think of that possibility first before sending me off the deep end, but we won't go there.
Okay - FE's are set. Welcome to a taste of West Africa...
Now, just to get the suitcases packed, decorate for and attend a baby shower (oh, that reminds me I need to wrap those presents), finish up some last minute issues at work, and try to convince Air France that the baby actually should travel in a car seat vs. a regular airplane seat. I haven't even started packing yet. But the suitcase is in the living room. I have to work all week and Friday I will need to do laundry, pack, get a haircut, pack some more... When my daughter was young and was going on a trip, she would always come to me and say, "Ask me." That was my cue to ask her all the stuff I could remember she needed. So, I'm saying to you guys, "Tell me." All the stuff you might not think to remember to pack. Hi All - I just booked 6/1 cruise this week and found this thread today. At the moment, I have only read the first and last page of the thread. On the first page was a hope for a partially full ship - very likely as there was still availability today when I checked again. I have cruised many times on many lines, but never on Disney before. It will be myself and my 3 yo DD. I would love to meet up with you folks. I am so excited that I am fully packed already and I haven't even received my paperwork yet.
PS What is a "fish extender"?

What do you experienced fish extenders think?

I have made it to page 10 of the thread and know what a fish extender is. Would love to join in on that (my daughter would think it was the coolest), but with only 5 days until we cruise (and this one is pretty much gone), I am not sure I can pull it off. What do you experienced fish extenders think?
I am in 7134 - right near Bill aka 3dan.
Hmm. Pretty much anything that can hang and hold stuff would work. A gift bag, maybe a child's purse, etc. Doesn't have to be fancy. The fish to hang it from are about 4 inches long. The part that attaches to the doors are about 2 inches. So as long as it can go over the fish and rest on the fish it is fine.
Welcome to the cruise!
Hannah has a dance recital at 12pm Saturday so as soon as that is over we will be heading to the airport and be on our way!!

We are in 6583 (right near the laundry room).
Our fish extender arrived today and it is really cute - so glad I ordered one rather than attempt it on my own!
Can't wait to meet all of you!

10:30? Late if you ask my husband. I think he will have us there by 9:50 waiting for the terminal to open :lmao:
We are going to drive to the port, drop us off, then he will drive back to the country inn and take the shuttle! (at least this is our Wednesday plan, it changes daily)

Welcome, keeping quiet! We've seen people use small tote bags, and I had considered taking one of the sets of 3 small canvas totes they sell at Michael's for decorating and sewing them together to make a multi-pocketed one once! I didn't do that though - I made mine (it took about 2 days, but over a 2 week period! :rotfl2:)
Here's the current list, with room numbers

10:30pm the night before is definitely too early. 10:30am the day of...way late. :)
We aim to be there at 10am. To me the official start to the vacation is when we arrive at the port so the sooner the better!!
Just hope the rain doesn't hit us. Last forecast I saw said a chance of rain Saturday and Sunday.

If it isn't too late to add us, you can put down Lucy in 7134. If it is an issue as some people have completed their little treats, no worries.

The fish extenders were great! DS was so excited to return to the room and find presents! He carried the little rubber pirate parrot and yellow ducky everywhere!
Also, did any of you happen to videotape or take pictures of the 8:30 Golden Mickey's show? DS got chosen to be one of the dwarfs in the Snow White scene, and of course this was the one trip where I had said, "no, I won't bother lugging the video camera around". :headache:

We were at that show, but did not take any pictures or tape. That part is so cute.
I totally forgot about the meeting, so I never did meet anyone from this group, but I hope all had a great time. We sure did.

Thats cool your son was chosen to be interviewed. The woman playing Ibsen Bensen happened to know me and pulled me to be interviewed at the first show. Also Speaking of Golden Mickeys, on the three night cruise the computer system crashed with 10min to go with the first show. The second show ran without any lifts or tracks. Their background was the Mickey cut out. They did an AMAZING job and never missed a beat.

Wow, thank you all for the fish extender gifts! My kids were so excited to come back and check.
This was our first cruise and you helped to make it so special. I am kicking myself for not rebooking on board! We have already called about doing a 3 night next June. I think it will be too short, but husband thinks we should go to SSR for a few nights prior and staying Thurs to Sun would be too many points!:rotfl:
Again it was great to meet many of you!

We finally booked onboard for another 4-night next June. This is our first time doing that, even though this was our 4th cruise! But, we would really like to do a 7-night western, so we may move to that.
Tink RN-Did you have them price a cruise for you at the future cruise desk? I may be dreaming, but I thought that one year we inquired but didn't book, and then we got a letter in the mail shortly after we got back that said we could still book at the onboard discount. Maybe that was just a one-time thing? But, if you are using Disney Vacation Club points, does the price of the cruise matter, or is each cruise just worth a certain amount no matter when you book? Just curious, we went to the DVC presentation a couple of years ago and have thought about it.

On our previous two cruises we received documentation indicating a reduction on points if you booked a new cruise within 3 days of debarkation. It was about a 10% reduction same as the cash reduction. This time we didn't get one of those so I'm not sure if they are still offering that.
We rebooked on board. We already have a 7N eastern booked for Jan 09, now we have a 7N eastern for Christmas 09 as well :) We are way too addicted.
We had a great time meeting everyone even if our daughter wouldn't actually do anything with any of the other kids. :) Next time we will not be meeting in the hottest/least shaded place on the ship!!!

No, we didn't price it out on board. Just went through the travel agent to get a price. We are far to stingy with our DVC points to use them for a cruise. That would impede our other Disney trips :rotfl:

Thanks to everyone for the great Fish extender gifts! That was the only way I could get DDs to leave the Club. "I wonder what surprise may be waiting for us...." and they'd go running! They loved the markers, stickers, and silly putty!
DH had booked a cruise before we got on board for next July - Tortola :cool1: - we checked the pricing onboard, but they said that that sailing was so popular that the prices just keep rising, so we already had the cheapest available. Unfortunately, that priced our friends right out of the market, but we'll look forward to seeing fellow DISers next year!!!!
