OK, I've made my first nights ressie at VWL for Thanksgiving 2002. I did not specify any other room requests besides non-smoking. My question...should I? Are there big differences in views. (This is our first trip "home").

Thank you in advance for your help,

Newarknut

I also requested non-smoking, but added "top floor". Trying to avoid the ground floor with a view of landscaping bushes.

We booked recently and requested not on the first floor because those rooms have patios, not balconies. Anybody walking by can see right into your room. To me there is no sense of privacy on the first floor. I believe that when my confirmation came in the mail, it said 3rd floor & 4th floor as my requests.

I really love VWL - most of the views are woods - but there are a few (I meant a few) rooms that overlook the quiet pool and the lake. You can try for one of these rooms but they are very hard to get.

I suggest you ask for pool side or lake side unless you like to hear the squealing brakes of the buses. We had a room on the parking lot side and I could hear them every night.

NEAR THE ELEVATOR!!! that is my only advice, not to many rooms have a special view, but many of them do have a lllllllllllllooooonnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg walk from the elevator!

there is only one elevator in the villas and it is not in the middle of the structure, but rather at the end of the building nearest the lodge.

So if your room is at the end of the hall farthest from the elevator (like we were earlier this month), it is a long walk.

We really didn't mind the walk though. Except for the constant job of interrupting our children's primordial urge to sprint down the hall hoopin' and a hollerin' at the tops of their lungs. :)

Make sure when your registering that not only is it a non-smoking room but not a handicapped room as well. We were placed in a handicapped room which had a shower you could just roll a wheelchair into. Unfortunately (with two kids) the water was EVERYWHERE! If you went to the potty your feet were soaked! As you might have guessed.....we moved! ($30.00 cleaning fee to be moved)
