We were actually not planning to have a rental car while we visit in October, however, we have now decided to take the DGC to Kennedy Space Center one day while we visit : drive: . Does anyone know if there is a rental company at the resorts? We are staying at SSR. Can the concierge take care of this for us? Can member services take care of this for us in advance? Or, should be make our own arrangements prior to our visit in October for a one day car rental.
Hope someone can help me with this........:disrocks

I am renting from Dollar at Goversnor Resort (right across from Downtown Disney) using the code Kiss2 that I got off of this site (saved us a huge amount of $$). Anyway, they have a shuttle that will pick you up at your resort and bring you to the rental company. I'm not sure if they will also bring you back to the resort when you drop it off as we are doing a one way rental but since they are right near Downtown Disney it would probably be easy to get back to SSR if they don't do a shuttle to your resort.

Thanks for the info on Dollar rental car. Simple. Think I will go to their web site and check it out also.
Thanks again
I know there is one near the Car Care Center near MK and I believe there may
be one near DTD. But I'm sure whatever resort you stay at can help you.
Have a BLAST! :thumbsup2

There is the Car Care Center on property but SSR will NOT get you there. The Car Care Center will pick you up on the hour and then you have to go to the other resorts to pick up also (depending on where you are on the stops that day). I took a cab because I did not want to wait the hour and then the pick ups and it cost me $10 plus tip.

Just found out that there is going to be a rocket launch while we are there, so we now have a firm date for going to Kennedy Space Center. I think that I will look into the car rental thing next week which is when I have to call and make dining ressies, etc.
Thank you all for your input. You have all been a great help to me.

That's funny you asked, as I was going to do the same, so thank-you for this question. I was actually getting ready to ask how I could get a rental car my last day at disney, because we'll be heading to Universal. I also was wondering if there's a bus that can come to pop and take me to Universal. The second idea came to me after reading that a Universal hotel will take you to disney. Being we're in a value resort, I'm not sure/don't believe they have conceirge's there, do they? Which would you suggest doing?

Just a quick followup to my original question............When I called to make our ME ressie, I asked about rental car hook-ups and how close to SSR, etc., our MS guide said that if we make the ressie for the car prior to arrival with Alamo (which is at the car center place at DTD I believe), they will send a car or shuttle to come and get us to take us to the Alamo office to fill out the paperwork and to get the car the morning that we intend to go to the Space Center.
This is all working out beautifully at this point. I'm sure that we will run into a few road blocks along the way, but I have found so much help on these boards that when I call to make my ressies or ask about things, I am prepared and actually know a little about what I am looking for.
I just want to thank everyone again for all of the great advise that I have received on the boards. You are all wonderful. :woohoo:
