Okay, so I tried to explain the whole "focker" disboard thing to my DH.
At first he called me a dork:headache: ...then he called us ALL dorks.... :sad2: THEN...he asked " Are you insane?? Okay, so what happens if you actually DO meet someone from the DISboards? What are you going to talk about???" :confused3 So my DH thinks I'm a totally insane dork which makes finding another Focker a fun challenge ... Anyone else have a spouse that just doesn't get it???

My husband says the same thing, but yet, when it came time for our trip last year he was driving me to Home Depot to get paint chips, him wanting me to secure them onto everything we own, went on Wishes Cruise with a few other Dis'ers and really enjoyed the conversation we had with them. He was then on the look out at each of the parks for the bright green Mickey's and started doing the hand gesture. LOL I just purchased the Team Focker Watch Lanyards and he rolled his eyes, said we're all nuts and then said, but they're really neat. LOL

"Insane" doesn't really cover DH's thoughts about me and my focktastic group of friends! His loss.
He will however, allow himself to be dragged along to WDW in August - Originally it was a trip specifically arranged for a Focker meet, just me and the gals, which has now been expanded into a 6 day family trip. Maybe the curiosity of meeting these "strangers" has gotten the best of him:confused3 He's now even going to be golfing with at least one of my fellow Fockers DH's...
Don't worry - your DH will come around. If not...do you really care?:lmao:
And for the record...my tight little circle of Focker friends...are people whom, if they weren't scattered all over the world, would be very good personal friends of mine - in "real life"...I can just tell.
Happy Focking!!!

This is just another example of the magic of Disney....strangers (strange strangers at that) becoming close friends. :goodvibes What better friends to have than those you can share your love of Disney with? It would be so cool to meet everyone in real life!
Happy Focking to you to!! :thumbsup2

I'm glad to see that I'm not alone. I'm still a newbie, but I can tell that I like a lot of others online:hug: Everyone always seems happy...:hippie:
I am embarassed- I took my DD3 to her first pediatric dental appt. yesterday and the dental hygentist was wearing lime green Mickey Crocs... so I got excited and said, "Are you on the DIS boards, too??????" She looked dumbfounded... ALL of the employees of the dental office were wearing these lime green Mickey crocs b/c its part of their uniform!!!! I'm such an idiot!!!! So I mumbled something like, "Nevermind...." :rolleyes1

My dh thinks I am obsessed as well. Anytime I am on the computer he asks "What are you looking at? Disney stuff again?" I must say though that when I start talking about all the new stuff I have learned from the DIS boards he becomes excited and starts asking me all kinds of questions. He did become a little agitated about all the trips to Home Depot in search of LGMH's--that is until I told him to go find whatever he needed!:thumbsup2
Who knew that a trip to HD to get paint samples would give my HD card such a workout?! Oh well, money well spent!

My entire family thought I was off my "focker" :rotfl2: They were pretty sure that if I fockered someone I would be hauled off in a padded truck. Sadly, during my trip I didn't get the chance to fock someone.

My mother is so obsessed with the dangers of the internet (she doesn't even want to know how to turn on a computer) that if she knew I'm chatting with anyone online, much less talking about Focking she'd have a heartattack.

I'm new here, but my DH calls me a dork too...but then again he never got to experience the magic until our Disneymoon. I'm slowly but surely brainwashing him.
katieloubear, I live in Hawaii so I actually got up once at 3AM to make ADRs

Although I haven't really made friends with anyone from a Disney board, I'm lucky that I got my message board meet-ups started while planning our wedding! I used the wedding planning websites pretty heavily, and there were lots of group meet-ups, fiances included. They ALL thought we were nuts back then...and then they were part of lovely weddings with excellent small touches, and they realized we couldn't have done it without the boards.
So DH doesn't even bat an eye when I tell him something I learned here or on other Disney boards, and he's had the benefit of two commando-style Disneyland one-day visits, and I continued to hear the thanks for making the trips SO very very excellent, and he knows that we'd likely still be stuck in line somewhere if it weren't for all the planning I did ahead of time. :D
But, at one point, he did think it was a little crazy (especially b/c he met his AWFUL first wife, annulment after perhaps 5 months, on yahoo groups...).
And while going to meet someone, he did once wonder out loud, when I called to tell him I was there, if it was really a fellow future bride, or if it was a "big galoot". :lmao:

I've gotten the famous Dork comment from my hubby as well. But on our first trip to DW last year we met a fellow TGMer and her family. We saw them off and on the rest of the trip and had a great time "bonding" over that. So... I'm hoping my new DIS maddness will secure me a few smiling shrugs (husband code for "Okay... you were right once again." I haven't even mentioned Focking to him.... I figure I'll wait till we get closer to our trip... when he's getting excited for our vacation! Gosh, what did I do online before I discovered the DIS?

Tell him to remove the board out of this behind and grab a sense of humor! :lmao: Geez....does he not get it that Disney is about letting your inner child out to play. Tell him to think of the DIS as a camp that you attend. If you see another "kid" from camp, the super secret way to know that it's a DIS kid is to do the Lime Look signal.
It's supposed to be fun and silly! Lighten up Dude! Let your wife enjoy herself. DIS'ers just wanna have some fun. :thumbsup2 Maggie
PS. Yes, my partner thinks all of this is incredibly silly, but if it makes me happy, she is more than willing to go along with it. :wizard:

I was just having this conversation last night with DH. I was trying to explain what a Disser was and about "Focking". He made fun of me all night then suggested that I post something about a "Focker" get together at CSR this week when we are there to see if they really exist. Our crocs and our Baggalini's are not lime green sad to say. Oh well, I am hoping to see some "Focking around" at the parks! He would laugh if he saw the sign.:lmao:

Very true....and I have to say, having had a Focker meet in December...it was really a lot of fun and we talked about all kinds of things - not just Disney - and for hours! No uncomfortable silences, nothing. It was like we'd known each other for years...
Of course, my "real life" friends think I have "invisible" friends, but what do they know anyway - they don't even understand WHY I keep going to WDW over and over again...
If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand!!:lmao:

Well, my DH used to call me a DORK all the time. Well, slowly he is turning to the green side. One little push and he's there! :rotfl: He even bought a lime green shirt today! :thumbsup2:
He still thinks my group of DIS friends aren't real and that the DIS is a huge farce. :sad2: On our last trip, 2 people came up to me and asked if I was a DIS-er!
But trust me, you can make some wonderful friends on the DIS. Friends for life, I'd say!

My co-workers are going to a convention next month at Disney. They start laughing and rolling their eyes when I tell them...you gotta eat here for me, you gotta ride this for me, you gotta shop here, you gotta see this show, you gotta, you gotta, you gotta... or even when I tell them to go to this site or that site to gather information. Don't they realize I have 2Disney license plates, little Disney dangling things all over, Minnie sitting on my desk, Mickey pencil in my cup holder, etc...for a reason? They're happy I have imaginary friends so they don't have to keep hearing me talk Disney. LOL

This is me and my DH, but, you see, I have the inside scoop....DH works at Home Depot. When I tried to explain the LGMH thing to him he just shook his head and then stated, "So that's why we are always out of the green paint chips, We were trying to figure out who the h%ll is using Alien Green Paint on their walls." :rotfl2:
Last time I check the paint chips were free..
My Dh doesn't think I'm obsessed....He knows I am!!:rotfl:

My DH insists that I have some sort of disease or sickness . I just agree with him, and tell him that the only cure is to take a trip to WDW. ;) But seriously, even though he loves to make fun of me, he definitely enjoys reaping the benefits of my knowledge gained from these boards !

My DH hates all discussion boards. I was on another one once and I always talked about it and he'd roll his eyes. Now I'm addicted to this one. Everytime I bring up a tip for our trip he wants to know if he is going to have to listen to this for 68 more days. hahahaha...I told him he'll appreciate all the research and planning I've done once we're there!!!! :surfweb:

Okay I am back to proudly announce I bought myself lime green crocs yesterday! Of course I didn't tell DH why I bought lime green ones...about an hour later though he says "Your shoes make me feel like we're at Disney"
That made me suspicious, I think he may be lurking the boards (not)
so I ended up giving him a vague explanation on why I would ever buy something lime green (I'm an earth tones type of girl)
He rolled his eyes at me and laughed his head off, but then he put an arm around me and said it was cute
which is DH speak for "you're a dork"

Yes, add me to the "dork" club! DH just doesn't understand my love for Disney- He pretended to when we went on out honeymoon to the world, but 11+ years later, once every five years is enough for him!! NO THANK you! He does not understand my fondness for these boards either. Little does he realize that we are raising three Disney obsessed kids ourselves! :rotfl2: My DS4 1/2 asks every day when are we going back? Unfortunately, I have to be brutally honest and tell him I don't know myself. "Next year" just doesn't cut it!~

DH just looks at me when I'm Dissing and says,"as long as I'm a DH it's okay :confused3 "
Glad to know there's others out there like me. :)

This thread is cracking me up! I thought maybe I was the only one who's DH thinks they are insane!! Whenver someone asks what we have planned for our trip, he just rolls his eyes and says I have it all planned since I am on the DISboards 24/7 - ha! I was telling him tonight about the LGMH and then told him about the FOCKER greeting and the FOCKER CROCKERS - he did not believe me. I had to show him some threads online to make him believe me!! And then it all became clear to him and he goes "SO that's why you want the lime green crocs!" He had an AHA moment!!
