I get to press 1, I get to press 1!! :cool1: That gets me almost as excited as when the first day of our trip appears in the accuweather 15 day forecast! Just 7 days, 3.5 hours and counting til the Loud Family is on the way to DISNEY WORLD!
Alright, before the "ahems" and eye rolling, I know I am writing a pre-trippie when I haven't even finished my last trip report.....or even started on the trip after that one! :duck: Hey, I work better under pressure.
Despite my best efforts, a long range planner, I am not. Oh, except that I have made 10 ADR's in case free dining is offered. :thumbsup2 Since our last trip in September, life had just simply interferred with DISing and serious Disney planning. Between football, cheerleading, preparing two 1st graders for grad school, the minor cloggged-toilet-overflowing-flooding two rooms and the garage incident, Christmas, having a job without internet access, etc, I just did not have time to plan our next Disney adventure. :sad2: Which brings us to January and the following conversation:
Me: Sirius, do you want to go to Disney for Spring Break?
DH: Uh don't know, do you? Can we afford it?
Me: It's Disney, does ot matter if we can afford it?
Silence
Me:  Remember, we bought AP's so we could afford to go this spring break! And we could stay offsite in a suite for $99 a night.(I was remembering a brief conversation mid November when DH said he wanted to stay in a suite the next trip for some privacy)
DH: What about the Sheraton Safari?
Me: Two adjoining rooms?
DH: No one room.
Me: Huh??
So I gather info and then we have this discussion:
Me: Ok, Sirius, here are the options: blah, blah, blah
DH: But if we stay off-site, we can't get the dining plan.
Me: Huh??

Alright, before the "ahems" and eye rolling
Sorry, I rolled already. And whistled, too. It's okay, you're in good company. Did you see that Mel's back? ;)

After I regained the ability to speak, I immediately went into turbo planning mode. :hyper: :chat: :hyper2: ::yes:: Pretty much, I was too excited and hyper to sit still. It was time to get back into the DIS mode. There was so much to catch up on....latest resort reviews, which restaurants are now "the place to be," etc. And of course the big worry: Have I been shunned? Please forgive me DIS friends, for I have sinned. Do my virtual friends still like me despite my 3 month hiatus....maybe I was on sabatical? Well, I did have a job without internet access afterall....a job which I needed to earn money for more Disney trips! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
After about two days of intense research, eh DISearch, I had a plan, and a B, C, D, E, F, and G plan. All on paper cause I didn't want to create an Excel spreadsheet on my work computer. Of course all the papers drive Sirius nuts, but he loves my anyhow! Here are the options:
1. CR $208/night
2. FW Cabin $197/night
3. Two value rooms $160ish/night or ASMu suite $269ish
4. POR $124/night
5. Rent DVC points
6. Buy DVC
7. Still considering off-site at Cypress Pointe, Sheraton Safari, Buena Vista Suites, Seralago, and many more....I think I have checked out every hotel in the area even houses.
Options 1-4 is the AP rate and required us to arrive by 3/30, so we either take the kids out of school, or let them miss half a day and we have to rush to get down there. BUT, using AP discount still doesn't get us the dining plan. And when I called back my 1, 2, and 4 rooms were gone. I think Disney flags my name so I only get offered something the first time I call.

I'm caught between my luxury loving self and my how cheap can we get it self. Who's gonna win? I'm so wishy washy! One day I'm Richie Rich and the next I'm Peggy Poor Pants. I come up with three options:
1. Rent DVC so we can buy dining plan without tickets.
2. Pay rack at POR or two Pop rooms plus one day of tickets and dining plan.
3. Stay offsite and just pay OOP for all meals.
1 and 2 are about the same cost. If we rent points, we will only do Sun-Thurs...but I wanna stay longer, I whine. And what's wrong with #3? Cypress Pointe isn't available on 4/5? Weird, but ok, we could switch hotels. Now we have the following exchange:
Me: Ok, let's make a decision and move on
DH: just pick what you want
Me: but we need to debate
DH:
Me: Here's your choices, blah blah, blah
DH: I want the dining plan
Me: Why?
DH: so I don't have to think
Me: And that would be different from?
DH: Smart butt
Me: That's better than being a dumb butt
DH: Just pick
Me: Deep breath.
DH: Just choose DVC...what about Sheraton Safari?
Me: I tried to bid, but I'm only willing to go so high on a 3*
DH: Just do the DVC!
Me: Deep breath. Ok, if that's what YOU want to do! :thumbsup2
I continued to explore #3, but I just couldn't make it work. I firmly believe that things happen for a reason. After reading the recent thread about the cancelled ressies at CP, I was certain that we made the right choice. Plus I just didn't want to fight that traffic to get to the park. A different time of year, maybe.
Now we know where we are sleeping, but what are we eating?

You know someone is staying at BWV, but who are these people?
We are the LOUD family! My children are very LOUD! The try to talk over each other and they just get louder and louder! Let me introduce the crew:
Me, just turned 36, thank you for all of the b-day wishes. I am a Disney Freak and a wannabe Goth Chick. I am slowly working some lime green into my mostly black wardrobe.
DH: 33...ok, he is almost 34! Shesh these 7 weeks make me look bad. Poor DH has many nicknames: P3, P9, Beavis, Sirius Lee Askew, etc. Maybe I'll just call him Slaw. He's made up of weird ingredients, but when combined with BBQ, he sure is tasty on a bun. Ok, that didn't exactly come out right. Oh well, Slaw it is!
DS9: Yes, he is a son and yes he is 9, but DS9 means Deep Space 9. He resides in a far off distant universe. DS9 was diagnosed with Asperger's this past November. Most people don't know it right away until he starts spitting out useless facts. He is a sweet and smart little boy.
DD7: Her former name was Felony. But since her little incident last year, she has maintained a clean record. DD is becoming quite the drama queen, is a pink snob, and likes to be different. Her teacher calls her Pippi Longstockings, which is an accurate description. We will call her Pippi.
DS7: Twin of DD7, just in case I needed to clarify. DS7 has had a rough time with school. We are tried many meds and still aren't sure if he has ADD, Asperger's, or is depressed. He still loves to clean, so his name shall remain, Mr. Clean. He is such a cutey and gives the best hugs.
My family seems to make a spectacle of themselves everywhere we go. They (not me) are loud and obnoxious. I just sit and roll my eyes. But, they are mine and I love them.

How in the world did we go from the $19 a night roach motel to $200+ DVC rental? One word: Procrastination! It's actually quite simple. I'm the type of person who gets overwhelmed with unlimited possibilites. I can't make a good decision and move on. I have to explore all options in an attempt to make the perfect decision. It's not like I don't have an opinion. What I want is to stay at the CR or Poly. But Disney hasn't adjusted their prices to meet my needs...or should I say the amount of $$ that I am willing to part with. I keep sending them memos, but they haven't responded. :confused3 $150 a night for CR tower MK view seemed reasonable to me. ;)
But, I still haven't explained how it all happened! Ok, reality check: We are in the eat in the park type people. We tried the super budget and carefully planned go back to your hotel and have a meal route last year. Didn't work for us, just isn't gonna happen. It's ok for a couple of meals, but not all. Besides, this is vacation, why the heck do I want to fix sandwiches? Plus, we'd have to deal with spring break traffic. Oh, and I'm not a rental house type person. I like elevators, and hustle and bustle, over priced gift shops, and community pools where people fight over chairs. Even though driving right up to your front door at the Wilderness Cabins sounded fun....and I do have fond memories of the Treehouses...my beloved treehouses. Can I get to the point already! If we are going to eat all meals on-site, we might as well get the DDP. Yes, it may not save any money, but point is, we just don't want to have to keep track of it all. Did I mention that we also have the DDE? In the week that I wrestled night and day, our choices narrowed. The 3* Priceline bids were going for about $75/night, and our AP POR room was gone, so it became clear what to do. Or shall I say that a DVC owner PM'd me with a ressie they had for rent. It was a sign I tell you! I presented DH with our three options (DVC, rack at POR, or two rack Pop rooms), and let him pick. :smooth: It was a no brainer. He chose the DVC, and said, "well at least we will have experienced a DVC in case we decide to purchase points." Gotta love that Mr. Slaw!

Monday?....I just figured out Sunday! I do want to hit the EMH at AK so I can see AK at night! We do have an ADR at Coral Reef at 4:20, but I'm not sure if Epcot is going to be the park du jour. It will depend on if Body Wars is still open on 3/31.

Alrighty, I think I can get back to writing this pre-trippie. I've just been so sad since my Tarheels lost. And it wasn't that they lost to a better team, they just rolled over and let G'Town win. I tried to swindle another day at Disney to soothe my aching heart, but DH didn't fall for it. But, the good thing is that now I don't have to conveniently put us near a tv when the Final Four is on!
Now that our sleeping arrangements were made, I now needed to focus on eating. Overwhelmed yet again! I have a list of places we'd like to try and I'm pretty flexible with times. But in the back of my head is the possibility of free dining. And, during this planning, my BIL mentions that he and his children want to go to Disney again this year if we go. Now I have several lists going:
1. April options
2. Free dining options for 5
3. Free dining options for a larger group.
How can I decide if I don't if free dining is going to be offered? Plus, DS will be 10 for our next trip, so what meals will he like off the adult menu? Luckily he's not a picky eater; if it's pizza, he'll pick it! :rotfl: Actually, he'll eat whatever is put in front of him, but still I look at the menus. So I have narrowed the list to the following:
In no particular order, all for dinner:
1. Chef Mickey's
2. Coral Reef
3. Wolfgang Puck
4. Teppanyaki
5. Boma
6. Le Cellier
7. Alfredo's
8. Liberty Tree Tavern
9. Garden Grill
10. Rose and Crown
11. Biergarten
Mr. Slaw informs me that he wants some breakfast ADR's. He just loves breakfast!! Here's the breakfast choices:
1. Boma
2. Whispering Canyon
3. 1900 Park Faire
4. O'Hana
Now I have the daunting task of cutting the dinner list to 5. How will I decide?

I can help with the breakfast one, check out 1900 Park Faire. Their made to order omelets are to die for! The characters are cute, too, but my kids are getting older, so that doesn't matter too much anymore.

Thanks! I want to hit that one before it goes to refurb....just in case they decide to make a change to it.

Now I have the daunting task of cutting the dinner list to 5. How will I decide?
Will they have breakfast with Mary Poppins or Stitch? If Teppanyaki is closed for refurb, will she try to convince the CM's at Yakitori to juggle knives? I'm tuning in tomorrow for the next exciting episode of, "Press 1 If You Will Be Dining Within The Next 7 Days!!" :happytv:

Tarheels lost. I know silly question but is that baseball, football or something else
And, during this planning, my BIL mentions that he and his children want to go to Disney again this year if we go.

Ok, time to go over the list to eliminate some choices:
In no particular order, all for dinner:
1. Chef Mickey's- a must do
2. Coral Reef- already been here, but not on DDP. We were on a super tight budget, so we didn't order at will. We did like it and would like to try it again.
3. Wolfgang Puck- Sounds good
4. Teppanyaki- Mr. Slaw's choice
5. Boma- really only want to go here for the zebra domes
6. Le Cellier- have an ADR for 4/6; thinking we may be too tired and full to enjoy
7. Alfredo's- only cause it's closing
8. Liberty Tree Tavern- I want to try this, but we eat this type food all the time.
9. Garden Grill- doesn't rank in my top wanna try, but is on the list
10. Rose and Crown- ditto
11. Biergarten- ditto
If I could nail down our park du jour, this process would be easier. I have too many if/thens. Like if Body Wars is still open on 3/31, then Epcot is the AM choice for 3/31. If not, then AK. Well, if we go the Ep on 3/31 in the AM, then we don't need to go there 4/2 in the AM. See my problem? I want to hit AK 4/2 at night for EMH, but we have Coral Reef at 4:20. Oh my head is spinning!

So where are we on this pre-trip timeline? A recap:
Mid January- start talking about Disney
January 15- join TGM
End of January- make lodging decision
Feb. 2- commit to DVC owner and get overwhelmed with ADR's, decide to procrastinate so some choices are eliminated, but do make some ADR's for must do's.
Feb 14ish make payment to DVC owner and realize that we are actually going to Disney in like 6 weeks
Feb 15- go on buying spree: Crocs, pins, crocs, pins
Mid Febish- post Shoebuy code on Focker thread and become DLand_Mama's new best friend.
Mid Feb- find out that BIL got a 40% off code only to discover later that he was reading the info off the planning video that says DDP can save up to 40%
Still Mid Feb- acquire lots of trading pins, work on ADR's
Late Feb- try to figure out how I will make the next month go by
Now- trying to figure out what I have been doing for the last month?

Hey Sorul82--did you hear that MK is now open till 12 all next week (3 am on the EMH). Whew! I am actually getting work done now--no, really, I am copying my tickets and getting my new passporter set up. I won a new one for a tip and just got it yesterday!
Hey, I got your PM, but I did not know that I was to get a croc (I had asked for one but assumed they were taken). So, lemme know if someone needs a babysitter or something! Still don't think I can be there at 7 as we are over at Trails End at 6:10--I'll be in MK all day earlier tho.
gotta go buy us all gum too--my DD13 will have serious withdrawal problems without it. Oh--she got such a laugh over our thread getting cut--after all my lectures about the internet, mom gets in trouble! :guilty:

In less than 48 hours, we will be in the car on the way to the Sunshine State. I'm going into panic mode 'cause I haven't packed, or nailed down our ADR's; I don't even know which parks for which days! :scared: The house is a mess, my TR isn't finished, blah, blah, blah. BUT, the important stuff is done: the AP's are in my new lime green Bagallini, LGMH's trimmed, holes punched, and tied with ribbon, and the "essentials" suitcase is packed with the all important lime loot and other DIS necessities: lanyards, crocs, pins, refillable mugs, glow sticks, blinking spinny things, etc :thumbsup2

I believe I left off at the beginning of March. I decided that we didn't have enough pins, so I acquired some more off Ebay. Also, I ordered the wrong size Crocs for DS9, so I got him another pair. I ordered the 6/7 thinking this would be the next size after 4...as in big kids, not babies. I mean they had it listed after the 4. Next I ordered the W7/M5. He is a growing boy afterall, plus the M4 wasn't available. Well, those were a little big and since I had been coveting the kid's Mickey Crocs, I checked to see if the M4 was back in stock. And tah dah, it was! Great, now everyone has Crocs except DH, out of stock. Next it was time to focus on acquiring a camera. I let Mr. Slaw handle that one.
I tried to force myself to focus on the ADR's but it just wasn't happening. It's March Madness Baby, I couldn't think about anything except basketball. Speaking of which, did ya'll hear about the UNC mascot? He was walking back to the hotel from a store in NJ and was hit by a car last Friday. He died Monday morning. It is very very sad. I am pretty bummed. But back to early March, I still can't do ADR's; still too many choices. So what do I do? Shop some more! If anyone says that Disney is expensive, just say, "no, getting ready for Disney is expensive."

We now arrive at mid-March. Since my b-day was the 19th, I decided to treat myself to a Bagallini. And I decided that Mr. Slaw needed some crocs and more pins. So, a few clicky clickies, and I had ordered more stuff for our trip. Best Buy had to go and put Disney dvds on sale, so I stocked up for our road trip. Oh, and I decided that I nor the children had enough lime green attire, so to Target I went. Now we arrive at this week. The clock is ticking which gets my blood pumping. The more I have to do, the more I get done. I'm still struggling with the ADR's, hence the name of this pre-trip report! I have dialed Disney Dining many times this week, each time taking great pleasure in pressing "1" since I will be dining withing the next 7 days. BUT, I still haven't nailed down a plan....too much going on in my spinning head. Ya'll will be happy to know that I have packed. Instead of carefully coordinating each outfit according to the park du jour, I just threw everything into the suitcases. I was going to do the zip loc bag thing, but I realized that must be for the younger kids. By the time I crammed shirt, shorts, socks, and undies into the bag, it was rather full-ish.
Now that we have arrived at today, as in we leave tomorrow, I am really in panic mode! You probably won't hear much from me til this evening. To top it all off, the temp agency just called and wants me to interview at 1:00. I would say no, but I really really need to get back to work after the trip. So, today I will be:
1. interviewing at 1:00
2. last minute shopping
3. oil change and inspection
Let's add my latest crisis: Easter! Do I buy everything today? What do I do with the chocolate? We plan to turn off the AC, so the house will get hot, hot, hot. But, I don't like to put choc in the fridge. Oh virtual friends, what do I do?
And my house is still a mess! :scared1:

Hurry, hurry, make your ADR's!!! (Waiting on the edge of my seat for the next installment...)
Don't worry about cleaning the house...get all the dishes washed and take out the trash...make sure there's no wet towels that will be lurking in the washer until you get home...and the house will still be there when you get back ;)

Ok lets go WAY :offtopic: and run only slightly amuck..
Need my dis friends opinions.
We will be in WDW Apr 29-4May my DS4 will be 5 on June 7 but wants to celebrate his B-day in WDW. I told him we cant because we arent going to be there in June. He is VERY sad. Changing dates is not an option at this late date. He remembers all the attention and the pins kids were getting last time we were there. So heres the biggie....Do you think it is a big no-no to say its his b-day so he can get a pin and wear it for the day?...Also maybe getting a cake made(which I would pay for of course)so they can sing HB to him.Ok any and all opinions wanted..Thanks so much..Sorry S'late..

Shhhh don't tell but my DD's are each choosing a day to "celebrate" their birthday, we can never go on their birthdays living so far away so they each get to choose the restaurant they want and I've arranged some extras, BBB on Ellie's and P&PP on Jessica's. Apparently there are 2 types of pin an It's my BDay and an I'm celebrating. So I say go for it :thumbsup2

OMG!!! June 7 is WALDO's birthday!! :lmao: I'm the day before, June 6th.
Personally, I say, go ahead and celebrate his birthday. I'm doing the birthday fake, too. CRT for Maddie (b-day is 10/30) and CP for Evan (bday is 8/1). I don't see why it's a no-no. Go for it, girl. ;)

Well...he's four, I mean, sheesh, and it's only about a month before his bday. It's not like a grown-up pretending it's their birthday to get a free meal at a restaurant. Kids that are born on February 29 almost never celebrate their bday's on the actual day...and I know some folks born around Christmas who celebrate "half bdays" in July, so the fun doesn't all get encompassed by the holidays.
Just like Alice at the Mad Tea Party, he can have a Very Merry Unbirthday! :ccat: Just make sure he knows that he is celebrating his bday a little early, and I think it would be fine :goodvibes

Me, too - I say go for it! We'll be doing a little Bday celebrating for my guy and my friend's guy while we're there a week before either of their real birthdays. Shoot - I hate my January birthday so much, I'm seriously considering celebrating it in July from now on!

Can't wait to read what kind of mayhem and accidents the Loud family encountered this time. Did you take BIL's kids with you again? Did Whiner's bladder control issues rub off on your kids? Did Felony take the car on a joy ride and more police involvement? Did you wear white pants while going commando and go on Splash Mtn? :scared1:
